I have developed a 'Work In Progress' (WIP) worksheet containing space for several jobs. Each job has a group of option buttons in it which are NOT acting as triggers or code dependent (just for selection purposes).
Users are able to delete the entire job (12 rows) but the option buttons just move 'up'. I know how to delete these items by use of code if I could determine their name. But - can I programmatically determine the group name for the specific job/range that is going to be deleted.
Worksheet automatically is protected - there is no password.
I have two linked ComboBoxes on a form. There are 10 Textboxes populated by ComboBox2’s choice. These controls are situated on two frame controls which are used for visual groupings only. I would like to clear everything except Combo1 when Combo1’s value is changed. ( Combo1 is a filtered key list using the dictionary. Script code)
I’ve written a small sub that is called to clear the textboxes, but its not reliable every time. It seems that if the scroll bar is used, and the user chooses Combo1 choice “NUTS/SEEDS”, the boxes aren’t cleared. In fact it will show the “Walnuts” info in Combo2.
Is there a short way to clear text boxes, check boxes and option buttons in one command. I dont want to delete them I want them to be able to accept more data once the operator has finished
I have form controls on my worksheets. How do I hide them? When I hide the row, the controls stay there. These controls don't seem to have that visible property like the VB control.
I'm thinking of using a validation->list instead, but then you don't see the drop down arrow.
I have 30 textboxes on my form, named "TextBox1" to "TextBox30". When the user clicks the button to launch the form, I want to first hide all the textboxes (already done).
Then I want to loop from 1 to some predetermined number (between 1 and 30), and update the textbox whose name contains the number of the loop. For e.g.:
Sub ShowForm Dim ctl
For Each ctl In frmKFF.Controls If Left(ctl.Name,7) = "TextBox" Then ctl.Visible = False End If Next ctl
I'm trying to pull up a second form from a command button within a form. There's a command button in a sheet to open the first form (frmOrderInput.) Then there's another command button in that form to open the second form (frmPriceInput.)
When I put form controls onto a spread sheet is there anywhere I can easily see and access its properties? Format Control is lacking many values and I do not see them in the vba project toolbar. I am trying to get checkbox locations and checkbox numbers if possible. If there isn't an easy place to see these is it still possible to get the checkbox locations in VBA?
Imagine I have a form with a few controls on it. And the controls properties are set up at runtime.
Is there any way possible to save the property changes that were made at runtime to the controls themselves? I mean - short of manually editing all the controls at Design time?
This might be easier to explain by example. See dummy code below. Using this example - I want to find something that will save the Caption of CommandButton1 as "TestMe" (rather than have it only temporarily set at runtime).
My form controls (cmd buttons) and images don't appear or don't work. I was working on a macro to cut and paste a set of cells (protected sheet, I did unprotect it), and I noticed the cmd button tied to this disappeared. It then re-appeared but I couldn't engage it. This is part of a larger workbook that consists of a single page of cmd buttons that release specific worksheets (no activex). These buttons disappeared and re-appeared and don't work either. When I select the button I can see the cell underneath light up. It's like the image is there but nothing else?
The macros run fine from VBA editor. I was thinking the issue had something to do protections? There are more than 5 passwords (set on a worksheet) being used here, there is a fair amount of protecting and unprotecting going on, and I loop through the worksheets several times. Everything was working fine and now I'm stuck. I was getting a the-object-invoked-has-disconnected-from-its-client error related to an "insert cells" command on a co-workers computer, but not on my machine. This is actually what I was trying to solve when it crapped out. I would delete the buttons and create them all again, but I can't even select them to delete them.
I am creating a form that performs several different functions. I would like to force a sequence of these functions by enabling/disabling the controls based on a variable.
For example, a form as two buttons Button1 and Button2. By default, Button1 is ENABLED and Button2 is DISABLED. When Button1 is clicked, a macro is run, where an Enable_Button2variable is initialized to FALSE. The last line of the macro sets the Enable_Button2 variable to TRUE. Then, because Enable_Button2 is now TRUE, Button2 then becomes ENABLED.
I am trying to apply this strategy to a ComboBox, ListBox and CommandButtons. I'm not sure what event to trigger on to poll the Enable_Button2 to enable/disable the control.
I have been working on large project using Excel VBA for several days. My code seems to be working correctly, but I have more to do and now, when I drag an object from the toolbox onto a UserForm, the object is not added to the list of objects on the form. If I go back to versions of the project that I was working on several days ago, there is no problem. If I run "Workbook Rebuilder", the objects that I have dragged onto the form are then added to the object list, but I still can't add new objects to forms from within the VBA editor. Is the project corrupted, or is there some other explanation, and are there any fixes? The code runs about 50 pages, and there are over 20 forms, so redoing from scratch is only a last resort option.
I am trying to dynamically add controls to my user form based on some values in my cell. I am successfully able to create a text box dynamically but my label is not getting displayed. here is my code
Private Sub UserForm_Activate()
On Error Resume Next If (ThisWorkbook. Sheets("Sheet2").Cells(1, 8) <> "FALSE") Then Dim ctl As Control Dim ctl1 As Control
Set ctl1 = Me.Controls.Add("Forms.Label.1", ctl1, True) With ctl1
This is probably really straight forward but cant see why it happens, the following macro works fine when called by a button created by the form toolbar but doesnt when called by a command button, get the runtime error 1004, "select method of range class failed"
I need to make several exact duplicates of an existing worksheet which includes several form controls. Basic Copy/ Paste the worksheet works well but row heights are different and hidden rows are unhidden. Is there a way to make an EXACT duplicate ?
I have a worksheet with lots of things going on... the end user needs access to the Name field, DOB field, all the scroll and form control option buttons in the 9-question sheet, and the macro-enabled reset button at the bottom. Formulas are sprinkled throughout the worksheet, in columns T through AC... option button links go to AA and AB.
I would like to protect the entire sheet so none of the fields, except where indicated above, could be selected or edited... but when I protect the sheet, I get errors when trying to use you form controls, and the formulas do not respond. And finally, when protected, I get a debug error on the reset macro.
Is it at all possible to create a User Form where the number of CheckBoxes will be linked to the number of entries in a cell range?
For example I have a 3 records in the range A:A called "Blue", "Green", "Yellow". I want to have a user form with 3 CheckBoxes with the same caption names.
1. I have text message on Excel Sheet 1. I have designed a form that has Multiple Check Boxes. Primary, CO-applicant and Co-signer vertically placed. And I have 3 Check Boxes that have been placed Horizontally Alerts, Public records and Mismatch Information.
What I am looking is I should be able to Pick 1 or all the 3 from Vertical Check Box which would be Primary, or co-applicant and Co-signer and also appropriately pick any from the Horizontal Check Boxes Alerts, Public Records and Mismatch Info.
For example: I the Text Box1 below should appear like this:
Primary: DOB Mismatch or and Bankruptcy any of those options.
Similarly for Co-applicant and Co-signer.
2. I have a Text Box2 on Comments page. The information from Text Box 1 Appears in Text Box 2. Once the form is run I am unable to make corrections if any in Text Box 2. Is it possible for me to edit the test that is copied in Text Box 2.
I have a user form set-up that has four option buttons on it. I have them set so that when the user clicks on one of them the others are unset, however for some reason the user is having to double click on the buttons before they are set (with a black dot in them). It is as if the first click sets focus and the second click sets the button.
Can i amend it somehow so that the user only has to click once?
Function FindNth(Table As Range, Val1 As Variant,Val1Occrnce As Integer, _ Val2 As Variant,Val2Col As Integer, ResultCol As Integer) Dim i As Integer Dim iCount As Integer Dim rCol As Range For i = 1 To Table.Rows.Count If Table.Cells(i, 1) = Val1 And _ Table.Cells(i, Val2Col) = Val2 Then iCount = iCount + 1 End If If iCount = Val1Occrnce Then FindNth = Table.Cells(i, ResultCol) Exit For End If Next i End Function
To use this function, push Alt+F11 and go to Insert>Module. Paste in the code, push Alt+Q and save. Use the function as shown in graphic example. You can access it under "User Defined" in the Paste Function (Shift+F3).

I am imagining a spreadsheet with the equivalent of an info button in each cell of column A. The idea is the user clicks the button to open a User Form containing additional info about the entitity represented by values on that row.
E.g., Row 1 is labels, row 2 is all about Bob, 3 is about Jane, 4 is about Freddy. If the user clicks the info button on row 3 then a user form opens up and displays additonal info about Jane.
I am wondering if there is a way for VB to identify which row the clicked button was on without having to write individual code for each button telling VB which row the button was on.
I am hoping there is some form button property I can reference or interrogate which will give me a cell address; a button.position property or similar. This will obviously save me a lot of coding if VB can dynamically determine which row is being interrogated as there will be a couple of hundred of these to start with, potentially thousands. (I realise Access is a better solution for database interrogation, but I have to work with excel at present).
Ultimately, the user form that the button calls up will have a list box on it and I want the list box to default to the entity on that row, and allow the user to browse the other entities if they want to.
If there isn't a solution for this I will just have a single info button for the users to click that opens the user form and then they can select the entity from a list box. But I would like to offer the "intelligent display" option but don't relish coding the equivalent of several hundred "You clicked button four hundred and seventy six, default to info card for bert".
I'm trying to replace a bunch of checkboxes on a sheet with a bunch of Form Control Option Buttons. The problem I'm having is every option button I add seems to be grouped with all of the rest of my option buttons. If I add buttons 1 & 2, I need those 2 grouped together, and when I add 3 & 4, I need those grouped together. Currently it's grouping all 4 buttons together so 1 - 4 are linked, but I need 1 & 2 linked together, and 3 & 4 linked together. I've tried grouping, but it still doesn't function how it ought to.
I have a worksheet where the user selects between two option controls, which are mutually exclusive. when they toggle an option, a user form pops up, depending on which option they selected, and askes them for a number, which is used in a calculation elsewhere in the page. The user form has a cancel button, in case they decide to back out. If they cancel, I want the option buttons to reset back to their original state.
The problem I'm having is that when I code it, if you select cancel on the user form, it causes the option to revert back to it's previous state, but that triggers the selection of the option again, which pops up the form, making a neverending loop! Is there a better way to do this? I tried it with a toggle button, with the same results.
I have user form with 5 OptionButtons in one group called Group1 and another 5 in Group2.
I need that those 5 OB in each group had value from 1 to 5 and then user selects one OB it will inset that value (not TRUE or FALSE) into cell and same with Group2.
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click() Cells(ActiveCell.Row, "E").Value = Need value of Group1 Cells(ActiveCell.Row, "D").Value = Need value of Group2 End Sub
I am looking for Multiple IF formula that linked with options button.
If D10=True 16+(C12*2.10) If D11=True 14+(C12*1.6) If D12=True 12+(C12*1.3) If D13=True 10+(C12*1.15) If D14=True 16+(C12*2.10) From D10 to D14, there is always one True and others are false.
Working on a project for a client, and I have two option buttons set up on the spreadsheet, grouped together with a frame and linked to the same cell. Working on the sheet on my computer, the button on the left gives me a value of "1" and the button on the right is "2". When I email the spreadsheet to my client, the buttons reorder themselves, so that the button on the left gives him a value of "2" and the button on the right is "1". Is there a way to prevent this?
I am trying to make an option button visible only when a cell has a value, I understand that this will have to be done in VBA. So I have a value in C10 on page "Edit" and I only want my option buttons to appear when this cell has a value.
In ThisWorkbook Userform2 is triggered upon a double click
Private Sub Workbook_SheetBeforeDoubleClick(ByVal Sh As Object, ByVal Target As Range, Cancel As Boolean)
UserForm2.Show End Sub
Userform2 has Frame1 (Option Buttons 1-6) and Frame2 (Option Buttons 7-12)
Private Sub OptionButton1_Click()
Call ProjectBuildings Range("A1").Select End Sub
Private Sub OptionButton10_Click()
Call BondIndustrial Range("A1").Select
End Sub
The user can click away and things work great. The macros that are triggered search a number of Workbooks and individual Worksheets looking to select either of two (hence the two Frames) specific items.
If the user clicks any Option Button in Frame 1 (works) then any Option Button in Frame 2 (works) then goes back to the same Option Button in Frame 1 (nothing) I have a problem.
How do I clear the first Option Button in Frame 1 after the user selects another Option Button in Frame 2?
