Formula To Count 12 Months Back For Finance Calculation
Mar 24, 2009
I have a spreadsheet that each month, we populate a new row of data. The rows are already set up in the spreadsheet, but we just populate the new row.
We are calculating a rolling 12 month total. Each month, we have to modify the formula below to pick up the last 12 months.
For example, next month we will populate data into cell M91, then we need to manually modify our formula to read M80:M91. Wondering if there is a way to have the formula below to look at a range, such as M100:M1, and count the last 12 months? This would eliminate us having to change this each month on several spreadsheets.
In Summary: I would like to replace the M79:M90 to count the last 12 months instead of changing the formula each month.
Here is the formula:
=(FVSCHEDULE(1,M79:M90/100)-1)*100
I have this formula in Column L. The calculations are working fine and I close the file. After I email the workbook from one computer to another and then resave it, every row in Column L that has the formula turns to #NAME?
in calculating the no of months in below scenario.
Fiscal year 2009 comprise of Jan 2009 to Dec 2009 Fiscal year 2010 comprise of Jan 2010 to Dec 2010 Fiscal year 2011 comprise of Jan 2011 to Dec 2011.
For example I have a period starting from Sep 2009 to Feb 2011
I need formula for the calculation of number of months in each fiscal year.
In above example number of months in Fiscal year 2009 will be 4, in 2010 it should be 12 and in 2011 it should be 2 months.
Structure of file
Starting period is mentioned in column A and Ending period is mentioned in column B. Fiscal year 2009 in column C, 2010 in Column D and 2011 in column F.
I have created a excel sheet here i want the total interest charged for three months in 3rd mnth interest charged column, if i select 7 mnths term total interest charged for 7 months should come in 7th month interest charged colum, if it is 13 months total interest for 12 months in 12th month interest column and remaining 1 month interest in 13th month interest charged column
I am using excel to analyze stock changes. Yahoo spits out a column with dates and another with closing prices but occasionally inserts a row showing a dividend, something like this:
In the spreadsheet, column A is date and Column E is closing price, such that the cell in column E where the dividend is listed is blank.
The problem- as I update data each week, the dividend row moves. How can I consistently figure price changes for 4 weeks and 13 weeks without getting messed up by the dividend row? Is there to auto delete the row or make the formula count down 4 cells in the price column, while skipping any cells without data?
What I am trying to do is take the dates in Column B and count each date as a month, and put those totals into the January through December boxes. I've put in the amounts that should be shown with the data I provided.
I have a spreadsheet that I am using for capacity planning. We want to automatically figure out which months have 4 weeks and which months have 5 weeks.
The weeks in a month are defined by work week (Mon to Fri), and if the work week has 3 or more days, it is considered a week of that month, if it has two or less days, it is not counted as a week during that month (it will be counted part of the following month).
ie: April 2014 would be a 5 week month, May 2014 would be a 4 week month and June would be a 4 week month.
The below formula is a small piece of a formula but it's where it's causing the error to occur. When I'm trying to count the months within the SUMPRODUCT formula it works fine, but when there is a "TOTAL" it's returning an error.
I have a problem again with one of Date Dif function " =DATEDIF(I5|J5|"m") " in attached file i have this function applied to calculate number of months in between two given dates but it seems this function is not working properly or i am missing some info in this to make it run properly. How to fix this function or give me a proper one which can solve my problem to calculate accurate months between these dates in attached file...
I have a code which get data from finance yahoo. When I run the code , it is giving User defined type not defined.
Private Sub UserForm_Click() Dim URL2 As String: URL2 = "http://finance.yahoo.com/" ' to get data from the url we need to creat a win Http object_ ' tools > references > select Windows Win Http Services 5.1
I am trying to calculate the average headcount for different categories (over a certain period of time, by product, by job type etc) and I want to do it using a formula instead of a pivot table.
I have this set of data with a detailed headcount for every month. And I can find out the total HC for different categories using sumif/sumifs but if want to find out the average for a certain period, I need to split that total to the number of months where I have a HC.
For example, if the HC per month would be:
May 2013 - 12 June 2013 - 10 July 2013 - none August - 5
in a 4 months period I would have a total HC of 27 and the average would be 9 (27/3 - July shouldn't be counted). How can I get the average in a single formula?
I'm scrambling my head to put this together. Could somebody show me how this is done? I have two rows of data that contains dates in the mmm-yy format. The first row is the start date of the activity and the second row is the end date of the activity. Thus, in each column i would have an activity with its start and end dates. If i want to total the number of months taking into consideration only unique months (counting over-lapping months just once), how do i do that? These dates could have breaks in between, too. Like if an activity ended Jul-08, the next could begin Dec-08. I am able to count the months using the datedif function, is there a match or other function that i need to use?
I am about to take a corporate finance course. The textbook uses a ton of basic (complex to me) equations to calculate interest rates, bond premiums, dividend reinvestment scenarios, etc.
I know that Excel has a bunch of specific functions to calculate interest, NPV, etc. but I am NOT interested in using those because I would like to have Excel "do the math" once I enter the formulas (or parts of formulas) correctly.
how to enter the equations below into Excel without using built-in formulas (I'm also not looking to use the Equation editor because I actually to calculate the answers, not just have the visual look/feel of the equation).
1R2 = [(1 + .0194)(1 + .03)]1/2 - 1
If done correctly, 1R2 in the above should equal 2.47%. I am totally fine doing parts of this in separate cells if necessary.
And something more complicated like the below. I wrote out the word "delta" because I don't know how to create the "triangle" symbol for delta on this forum post. According to the text, for securities with semiannual receipt (compounding) of interest, it is represented as:
-D = (delta P / P) / ((delta r sub b) / (1 + (r sub b)/2)))
Or in English, I believe that can be expressed as "negative D equals the quotient of delta P divided by P (in the numerator) divided by the following: delta r sub b divided by the quantity 1 plus r sub b divided by 2"
And finally
V sub b = 1000 / [1 + (.10/2)]2(4) + 50 times the following compound bracketed expression [1 - (1 / [1 + (.10/2)]2(4)] divided by (.10/2)]
I am trying to import competitor data into excel using google finance, but when I try to run the web query I get the message that "this web query returned no data." I have no problems when using yahoo finance and other websites so I think it has something to do with google, but I don't know what it is. I have been searching for some time now without any luck. My end goal is to make this a dynamic web query and incorporate it into a VBA code, but I need to get the web query to work first. Below is the text of the web query.

Where each (i.e., A1) represents a location. I have tried to use a coordinate system but this will not work for the back-to-back locations. (Assuming each location is 2 feet wide, For example A1 to C1 is 4 feet apart, not 2 feet (as Euclidean or rectilinear would calculate it as).
Would there be a way to incorporate an if statement for those locations that are back-to-back? As a rectilinear distance calculation would work as long as the locations are not part of the same "block".
Ultimately I am looking to have a matrix which contains all the distances between each location:
know if there is a formula for counting back a year from a date?
Basically what I have is we operate a rolling absence/ sick year and so what happens is on a staff members return from absence/ sick we look back exactly one calendar year from the last day of absence and count the number of days off absent in that period for comparison against their paid allowance.
I have posted a mock up sheet and what I am looking for is a formula for column C. The highlighted cells are the period it would be if today was the last day of absence.
Name Qtr Year Org 112007 Org 222006 Org 332006 Org 442006 Org 542007 Org 612006
I want the code to say, If Qtr = 1 And Year = 2007, then bring back Org Name, If Qtr = 2 And Year = 2006, then bring back Org Name and so forth.
The code should loop through a range of constant data (Region Name), until the Region Name is blank.
Dim OrgCell As Range Dim OrgTargetCell As Range Dim RegionCell As Range Set OrgCell = Sheets("DATA Removed").Range("A2") Set OrgTargetCell = Sheets("Overdue").Range("A3") Set RegionCell = Sheets("DATA Removed").Range("C2") i = 0
OrgCell.FormulaR1C1 = _ "=IF(AND('DATA Removed'!R[-1]C[11]=1,'DATA Removed'!R[-1]C[12]=2007),'DATA Removed'!R[-1]C,0)" Do OrgTargetCell.Offset(i, 0).Value = OrgCell.Offset(i, 0).Value i = i + 1 Loop Until RegionCell.Offset(i, 0).Value = "" End Sub
cell AT7 is a formula which brings back a numerical value i.e. 15.
in cell AS7 i need a formula that displays the value of cell AT7, as long as that value is less than 15, if the value is 15 or higher then 0 should be displayed.
I dont know why i cant get this, seems like a simple IF statement to me, but who knows.
Once this formula is done i need to drag it down about 2500 cells and autosum to get a column total...
I’m trying to send an array of values INTO a user defined function, do a little math on it, and then send the resulting array back to the caller. The caller in this case is an array formula in an excel cell.
I can get it to build an array after the math, but I can’t get it to pass the resulting array back to the formula. The following snippet is a simple version of the code. Here I am building the incoming array in the macro, but same difference at the end. The outgoing Oil_spgr variable never seems to contain the full, final array.
