I am trying to import competitor data into excel using google finance, but when I try to run the web query I get the message that "this web query returned no data." I have no problems when using yahoo finance and other websites so I think it has something to do with google, but I don't know what it is. I have been searching for some time now without any luck. My end goal is to make this a dynamic web query and incorporate it into a VBA code, but I need to get the web query to work first. Below is the text of the web query.
Im using a query to connect to a SQL server and return data into Excel. I can query and return the data in Microsoft Query editor but when I attempt to return the data to Excel in a table, it just says the name of the connection in cell A1. If I attempt to return it into a pivot table a get and "Problems obtaining data" notification.
I have a code which get data from finance yahoo. When I run the code , it is giving User defined type not defined.
Private Sub UserForm_Click() Dim URL2 As String: URL2 = "http://finance.yahoo.com/" ' to get data from the url we need to creat a win Http object_ ' tools > references > select Windows Win Http Services 5.1
I have a googlespreadsheet with 4 columns. date, id, name, positive/negative.
What I would like to be able to do is to call a procedure from an excel document to copy/retrieve all of the information between specified dates on the google spreadsheet and place into another worksheet in the excel document.
The spreadsheet is hosted in my googledrive and is confidential (i.e. I cannot publish it), so I am assuming I will need to add password credentials into the code, which will be an added complication.
I'm trying to see if there is a way to speed up the process of doing multiple Google searches to see if I can find a website attached to a text. I have a list of websites, and am trying to update the list to remove dead/inactive sites, and also find the URLs for the live sites.
The list looks like this (sample): Comstock, Inc. ConNuestroPeru Contacto Latino contentSutra Core States Crains Chicago Crains Chicago Business Crains Detroit Crains Detroit Business Credential Crescent-News.com Crowell Weedon
Thus there's no website attached, and I need to manually find the URL myself. There are over a thousand cells in the list.
How to speed up the process of finding a url for these websites?
I use Google Spreadsheet to feed some data online. Later on I use Excel to import this data that it is hosted at Google to do a better handling (reports, charts, etc). However when I import the data from Google, the contents of 1 row is splitted on 4 in Excel.
Are there any way to keep the same formatting from the original ?
I have a csv file on another drive on the network that i need to query. I believe that ms query would be the best way. I know that a DSN needs to be setup but this macro will be used by various users who wont know how to do that. thus I would like to create one via VBA every time the task needs to be run. I haven't a clue how to do this and i need it to be explained to me in general terms with words of one syllable!
I am about to take a corporate finance course. The textbook uses a ton of basic (complex to me) equations to calculate interest rates, bond premiums, dividend reinvestment scenarios, etc.
I know that Excel has a bunch of specific functions to calculate interest, NPV, etc. but I am NOT interested in using those because I would like to have Excel "do the math" once I enter the formulas (or parts of formulas) correctly.
how to enter the equations below into Excel without using built-in formulas (I'm also not looking to use the Equation editor because I actually to calculate the answers, not just have the visual look/feel of the equation).
1R2 = [(1 + .0194)(1 + .03)]1/2 - 1
If done correctly, 1R2 in the above should equal 2.47%. I am totally fine doing parts of this in separate cells if necessary.
And something more complicated like the below. I wrote out the word "delta" because I don't know how to create the "triangle" symbol for delta on this forum post. According to the text, for securities with semiannual receipt (compounding) of interest, it is represented as:
-D = (delta P / P) / ((delta r sub b) / (1 + (r sub b)/2)))
Or in English, I believe that can be expressed as "negative D equals the quotient of delta P divided by P (in the numerator) divided by the following: delta r sub b divided by the quantity 1 plus r sub b divided by 2"
V sub b = 1000 / [1 + (.10/2)]2(4) + 50 times the following compound bracketed expression [1 - (1 / [1 + (.10/2)]2(4)] divided by (.10/2)]
I created a userform to filter some data according to some specifications and then spit out the results. After some tinkering, I've gotten everything to work as far as I can tell. Though it isn't mandatory, I would like to get a message to pop up telling the user if no results matched their specifications. I've included some of my code for reference.
I have a spreadsheet that each month, we populate a new row of data. The rows are already set up in the spreadsheet, but we just populate the new row.
We are calculating a rolling 12 month total. Each month, we have to modify the formula below to pick up the last 12 months.
For example, next month we will populate data into cell M91, then we need to manually modify our formula to read M80:M91. Wondering if there is a way to have the formula below to look at a range, such as M100:M1, and count the last 12 months? This would eliminate us having to change this each month on several spreadsheets.
In Summary: I would like to replace the M79:M90 to count the last 12 months instead of changing the formula each month.
Here is the formula: =(FVSCHEDULE(1,M79:M90/100)-1)*100
Any way for an excel spreadsheet to automatically feed into or sync to a Google doc.
Unfortunately I have a dashboard which can only use a Google doc spreadsheet, so uploading the excel spreadsheet into Google drive wouldn't work. Nor vice versa as we have a Cube which feeds into Excel.
So the only way around this is for the excel spreadsheet to sync to a Google doc.
from what I can see working in Google spread sheets is very similar to excel
I have 3 columns with dates in them, what I want to do is set an alert if any of the dates in the columns are less than 30 days from today. This alert will appear on a different sheet of the same document in a column
I thought the following formula would work =if(B2-today()
I have a userform which uses the WebBrowser control. The user enters a city and contry to a text box, which then calls google maps to display that area. I have a combo box on this form which list cities as well as a number. how I can link the city list on the google map to the city I have listed in my combo box and have the number associated to that combo box city appear on the google map?
I created a slick little excel sheet with the data coming in automatically via Access query. It has been working fine for months. Now all of the sudden there are a bunch of cells with missing data. The weird part is it's not as if whole columns are missing data, more like 90% missing. When I go to Access and run the query all cells are populated as the should be. There have been no changes to the query at all during this time.
A web query I am trying to use to bring an online data table into my worksheet is broken. Now, instead of returning the data table nicely into my worksheet, it imports the code of the webpage, instead, and turns my worksheet into a mess.
The query used to work but there was recently an "upgrade" to the program that populates the web table and the query no longer works and just returns the code for the page, instead. I can see the html code for the table in all of the code it returns but I really need the table to import cleanly into excel.
I can't talk to the people who changed the web program.
An external data web query points to a web site that offers a foreign exchange rate calculator. In my browser, I selected the specific currency pair I need and used the resulting url in the web query. The "New Web Query" pane resolves the url correctly and allows me to select the table data I want (the little yellow arrow turns to a green check mark). However, when I hit "Import" and select the target cell, the only data returned is the parameters from the url and an error msg (This web query returned no data...). How do I get the query to pass the parameters to the website correctly?
I'm trying to accomplish. I have a series of addresses that I would like to import into a google earth type map (or similar mapping type program), which would put a "tack" type icon on the map where the address should be located, etc.
I am writing a VBA for downloading a csv file from google trend.
In the first worksheet ,enter the search keyword in the excel file and the click a button to download the csv file and place it in another worksheet in the same excel file.
I have had some experience with downloading the stock stat. csv file from yahoo but then I realize this time is really a different story. In the google trend case, I cannot find a real URL of the csv file.
I strongly believe the solution is on [URL] .....
I have tested the code in #1 .It runs but cannot return a proper csv file just like Lloyd said. I do not understand what Kyle said. What do title and id refer to ?
Besides,I do not understand and cannot run the code in #6.
What is the input and output of this code?
When I run this, I face a Run- time error '-2147024891(80070005)'.
I have this code which need to capture Rank & URLS of given keywords in Google paid search but now its not capturing any rank & urls, its gives no data found. solve this and modify it in such way that it record the position of the paid advert on the google page, advert title and description and then click on the ad to capture the actual landing page (not the landing page url shown in the paid ad).
I have an MS Access query that contains a parameter. The parameter is a date field, and I have configured that in the Access query. If I run the query within the MS Access user interface, it prompts me for the paramater value as expected, and runs just fine. However, I want to connect to this query from within Excel as a data source.
I have created a connection to the Access file using ODBC from within Excel. In the MS Query window, I am merely selecting all of the fields resident in the MS Access query, and returning all values. In other words, there is no selection criteria in the MS Query. I have done this many times with Access queries that DO NOT contain a parameter, and everything works fine. However, in this instance, I need to pass a parameter through to MS Access in order for the query to run. At the moment, I get the "Too Few Paramaters...1 expected" error message. This makes sense, because I haven't figured out how to pass the paramater to MS Access.
Is there a way to structure this that does not involve VB code? If so, I'd love to know how. I have tried creating parameters in MS-Query with the same name, but although I get the prompt it doesn't connect with the Access query as the source for the parameter value.
If the solution requires using code, I'm good with VB Code in Excel...is there VB for Excel code that could make this happen?
Failing that, I guess there must be (I've seen a few in my search thus far) Access VB Code that can make this work. I'm very rusty using VB with Access, so this is my least favored solution. However, if this is the only option, keep in mind that I need to pass the paramater ultimately from a user who will initiate the process using Excel.
Need the query parameters which takes the date from the cell into the query. How should I modify my query if it needs to take the date from a cell?? The bold one date should be picked from one of the cell in sheet 2.
My query is this WEB 1 http://fc-web-phl1-101.phl1:8090/gp/...runReport.y=12
I have some code that goes through some data that is imported from a database via a query. This has been working for a few years without a problem.
I lookup and employee number on my sheet to the employee number in the database table.
this is my code that checks the employee number.
Set rs = Worksheets("Employee") If rs. Cells(r, 2) = cells(1,1) Then 'if employee number matches ......
The problem is that now the database application has adapted an alpha option (it used to be numeric only). In order for my code to work I have to change the employee number on my sheet by putting a ' in front of it.
Example if the number was 127 I need to enter '127 in the cells.
I have a few thousand in my data.
Can I add some code to my macro so I can still enter just the number in the cells?
I have data which is exported from my system which includes the job date and gross profit amount. I want to find the gross profit total for each day based on a matching date. However, the data exported includes the time in the date cell and Google Sheets won't match it. I'd like to avoid using a helper cell if at all possible.
