Formula To Return Sheet Name Not Formatted As Date

View 6 RepliesI have the following formula in cell B1 to return the Sheet Name as the cell value ...
View 6 RepliesI need to calculate the difference in Years, Months and Days between:
Date 1 = TODAY()
Date 2 = 4 years after a date in cell A1, which will always be earlier than today's date
(A bit of backround - I have certain risk management procedures that have a lifespan of 4 years. I want to calculate the time between now and 4 years after the date the procedure was completed, essentially to see how long before they have to be redone).
So far I have:
=DATEDIF(A1+4,TODAY(),"y")&"y "&DATEDIF(A1,TODAY(),"ym")&"m "&DATEDIF(A1,TODAY(),"md")&"d"
But that returns #NUM!.
Removing the +4 obviously just calculated the difference between the date in A1 and today, but I need the date in A1 PLUS 4 years and today.
I have also tried:
=(DATE(YEAR(A1)+4,MONTH(A1),DAY(A1))-TODAY())/365.25
which works in theory, however:
a) no consideration for leap years
b) does not return nY, nM, nD - only the decimal.
However I would be happy to use this method if I could convert it to Years Months Days.
How to create the formula for dates formatted with periods.
Dates are as follows:
01.07.12 - should return as 1-Jul
01.08.12 - should return as 1-Aug
02.08.12 - should return as 2-Aug
I have a strange issue. I have column "B" has date texts in it ( don't know if it means value) like 21.09.2012. The cells are in text format.
VB:
Sub ReFormatCell()
Range("B:B").Select
Selection.NumberFormat = "dd.mm.yyyy ddd"
With Range("B:B")
.Formula = .Value
End With
I tried ".Value = .Value" or ".Formula = .Value" or Copy paste or offset...... Non of the codes didn't work to make date format as I desired :/
The order is something like:
1. Format column "B" as text.
2. Offset text value 21.09.2012 to B.
3. Reformat cell as date
4......?!?!
What should I change to display "21.09.2012" as "21.09.2012 Wed" in B:B range?
this code works fine on my desktop but on 2 of work's pc's it produces a error at the msgbox line

Dim dDate As Date
dDate = Sheet16. Range("a1").Value
MsgBox "Today is the " & Format(dDate,"dd/mm/yy"), vbOKOnly
End Sub
i have changed the security settings in macro's and one of them was using office 2000, not sure about the 2nd one but i will check next time iam at the office and grab the error codes.
I need a formula to add two (2) cells (one cell in sheet 1 and the second cell in sheet 2) and return a value of the two (2) cells in sheet 3. I would like the formula to return a zero (0) value instead of #VALUE! ERROR displayed in sheet 3 if a cell in sheet 1 has zero (0) value and the second cell in sheet 2 is blank. For example: sheet 1 D2 (0) + sheet 2 D2 (blank cell) = zero (0) instead of #VALUE! ERROR
In addition, if cells B11:B12 are blank in both sheet 1 and 2, I would like the formula to display blank in sheet 3 for cell C11:C15 instead of displaying #VALUE! ERROR.
Here is the formula I have: =IF(OR(ISBLANK(Sheet1!D2),ISBLANK(Sheet2!D2)),"",Sheet1!D2+Sheet2!D2)
Note: I have attached a sample data set for better conceptualization of the problem. Sample_Formula.xls
how can i get a cells date into a message box string? i have been trying to get this to work
Dim Date As String
Date = Sheet16.Range("a1").Value
MsgBox "Today is the & Date ", vbOKOnly
I have a cell E1 that is actually a vlookup and returns a date. I had to custom format the cell so the value returned looks like "June 2007" instead of "39827". I am running a macro and I need a messagebox to tell the user that they are creating an email for June 2007 (which is really the variable cell E1). Problem is the message gives the date as '6/4/2007' instead of 'June 2007'. I tried using the text() function to format the cell as "mmmm yyyy" but I get a type mismatch error. Below is the code I wrote. The first way shows successful but the date as numeric. The second gives me the type mismatch error: First way:
a = Range("e1").Value
Msg3 = "You are about to create an email for " & a & ". Are you sure?" 'Define msg
Style = vbYesNo + vbQuestion + vbDefaultButton2 ' Define buttons.
Title3 = "Create new file" ' Define title.
Response3 = MsgBox(Msg3, Style, Title3)
If Response3 = vbYes Then ' User chose Yes.
'create email
Second way (mismatch error): a = text(Range("e1").Value, "mmmm yyyy") Msg3 = "You are about to create an email for " & a & ". Are you sure?" ' Define message.
Style = vbYesNo + vbQuestion + vbDefaultButton2 ' Define buttons.
Title3 = "Create new file" ' Define title.

I have a column that contains dates from our system that displays in "mmddyyyy" format (i.e., 10121999 or 8121998). How do I convert this to a 10/12/1999, 8/12/1998 formatted column?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to get a single cell to display the following:
Last Updated: 3/18/2008 15:08 (GMT+2)
Entering =NOW() in a cell displays the date and time as required.
But entering ="Last Updated: "&NOW()&" (GMT+2)" displays the date and time as a serial number. Formatting the cell to Date does not change the serial number to date and time format.
The only way I have found to get the desired result is to use =NOW() in another cell (F13), format that cell to general to get the date/time serial number, then use ="Last Updated: "&TEXT(F13,"m/d/yyyy h:mm ")&" (GMT+2)" in the required destination cell.
As I said this works, but it strikes me as an inefficient method. Is there a formula I can enter or formatting I can apply to get the desired result without using an addition cell?
The result needs to be in a single cell. Splitting text and date/time into 3 adjacent cells will not work with my worksheet setup.
the last date input into a range covering multiple columns and return the date in the cell containing the formula):
{=index(a9:n9,1,max(if(cell("format",a9:n9)="D4",column(a9:n9)))-column(a9)+1)}
My column headings use this pattern:
Column A: Date
Column B: Amount
Column C: Date
Column D: Amount
Column E: Date
Column F: Amount
and so on.
When I use the above formula, I end up with data from the last amount column instead of the last date column.
Is there a formula to return the value of week from 9-6-09 i have on cell a1 and 1-2-10 on cell a2 and i want the total number of weeks on a3.

1) how can I return the oldest date in the entire workbook (or at least in the entire sheet if it's not possible to find that date in the entire workbook).
2) how about the most recent date ?
Need a formula for cell J27 that returns the date of the following Wednesday from a date in cell J2 that's a Wed, Thurs, or Fri
or
return the date of the following Friday for a date in cell J2 that's Sat, Sun, Mon, or Tue.
For example, when 05-29-08, a Thursday, is entered in cell F2, I need cell J27 to return the following Wednesday's date of 6-04-08.

For example, when 06-01-08, a Sunday, is entered in cell F2, I need cell J27 to return the following Friday's date of 06-06-08.
I want to develop on the formula I have below to return the value in the same sheet as the formula from Cell AA2 if the result of the formula below returns #N/A
=IF(ISERROR(VLOOKUP(B2,Analyst!$J:$K,2,FALSE)), VLOOKUP(AP2,Analyst!$B:$C,2,0),VLOOKUP('IE STORES AGING 06-05-2014'!B2,Analyst!J:K,2,FALSE))
Assume I have a simple date array
1/13/20142/12/20143/12/20144/11/20145/13/20146/11/2014
I want Excel to see where today's date falls and return how many work days it is from the date boundaries.For example, today is 2/8, which falls between 1/13/2014 and 2/12/2014
Cell I19
=LOOKUP(TODAY(),B2:Q2)- yields 1/13/2014
=NETWORKDAYS(I19,TODAY()) yields 20 workdays
But I want to also grab the 2/12/2014 date and get the number of workdays from that- all in one equation.If not one equation then 2 but not separated for each border date like I have above
I have a cell (A1) which contains the month. A2 contains the year. I need a formula which will return each date of the month.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am in need of a formula.
I am subtracting one number from the other and if the result is negative, “Short” otherwise “Add”, I want to use subtracting result in the formula. So for example A1 has 50,000 and A2 has 40000 so the formula in cell A3, should say add $10,000.
Or something like this, =IF(A1-A2>0,”ADD”,”SUBTRACT”,”&TEXT(A1-A2,”$#,##0.00”)
i am using this formula to look in a sheet for a cell then return that value from a different sheets column
View 3 Replies View RelatedI need a formula that will calculate the percentage of the total duration between two dates (in dd.mm.yyyy hh:mm format) that a third, intervening date represents.
As an example:
a) 10th Jan 2014 09:00
b) 20th Jan 2014 09:00
c) 30th Jan 2014 09:00
In this case the answer sould be 50% because 'b' represents exactly half of the time elapsed between 'a' and 'c'.
Note: the formula needs to work effectively across the boundary between two consecutive years.
I have a rolling 12 month (each day in column) tab in Excel 2010 that references variances by ID number in column A, and the column headers are each day for 366 days (2011). I would like to create a tab that shows the past 10 day's variances by ID number. I haven't been able to write a formula that will look at the date headers and the row ID number to return the figure for that day. Here is a sample of the 12 month rolling and the 10 days at a glance that I want to populate.

I have a formula that needs some tweaking. This formula is to reference the ACCT and find the “best” contact information and return the result to the Merge sheet. If the ACCT does not have a Parent then you reference the ACCT to the abc_Phonelist sheet. If the ACCT does have a Parent then use the Parent ACCT since it has a more desirable account number to reference against the abc_Phonelist. If the ACCT or the Parent ACCT uses Processors then the ACCT from the Processors sheet has the best reliable account number to reference against the abc_Phonelist.
In sum, there are three different possible “number tiers” that can be used. The first, the ACCT phone number. This means that the ACCT has neither a Parent nor a Processor. The second, the parent ACCT phone number. This means that the ACCT has a Parent, but neither the Parent ACCT nor the ACCT has a Processor.The third, the Processor phone number. This means that either the ACCT or the Parent ACCT has a Processor phone number.....
Say I have a worksheet that has a column in which every cell is formated in hh:mm:ss format. The column is probably 100 cells long...so from A2 to A101 (A1 is the title of the column). Now, we need to take the data in cells A2:A101 and graph it, but the data needs to be formatted in only seconds. So, in column B, we want to convert the data from column A into seconds format.
For example,
cell A2: 00:01:46
cell B2: 106
Of course, we can't convert each cell by hand, because this needs to be done on a lot of data...worksheets upon worksheets.
I am having a terrible time with Excel today. The version I'm using is Excel 2010.
I just want a simple division formula in a cell, formatted to accounting. This should be really easy, but it isn't reacting the normal way.
The simple division is =13588/12
The output in accounting format should be 1,132.33.
Every time I enter this formula into a cell that is pre-formatted to accounting, the result is 1132 1/3. It also erases my formula and replaces it with the value.
As seen from my attached file,
The colour of the percentage cell changes according to its percentage. I would like the S/N cells to have the same colour as the total percentage cells automatically. (Even when the percentage updates)
Secondly, for the cells under "Target", if the target dates are 1 day before today(the current date on a particular day) and the actual date is not filled, the cell fill will turn amber.
If today is on or after the target date and the actual date is not filled, the cell will turn red.
However, if the actual date is filled, the target date cell will be filled green, overwriting the above two condition.

I am trying to reference a date in a formula that points to a sheet name.
See Below.
A B

How can I automate the date to pull from column A and place that value in the date for column B? Column B is the name of a different sheet in the workbook.
I'm trying to link two different budgets into a third spreadsheet. The final step I'm attempting to accomplish is have an if-and statement reference just the month from a date-formatted cell. One of my departments tracks their budget on a daily basis, i.e.
11/2/2009, 11/3/2009, etc. rather than just 11/2009. I want the if-and statement to return the budget from all days in a given month so i can apply the formula to the whole year, broken down monthly too. I saw a question similar to this one but didn't see any responses so I'm not sure if it can be done.
I'm trying to create a formula that will search for a specific text in "sheet1" within a date range and then SUM the total on "sheet2". I've manage to use the SUMPRODUCT (below) formula but want to expand on this so the SUM can be shown on another sheet(summary page). =SUMPRODUCT((ISNUMBER(FIND({"nmlclex06"},A1:A10)))*(B1:B10)) In this example I search for the text "nmlclex06" and SUM the size, but don't have a date range and don't know how to SUM the data on another sheet.
