I have a formula that looks like this:
=HLOOKUP('Output'!$B$3,'Input'!$B$1:$P$300,'Input'!$A3+1,FALSE)
It is working very fine, when the cell has a value, but when it doesn't - it will return 0. So my question is: is there any way to make it return certain value or word like "No value" instead of zero?
I am getting #VALUE! when I use the formula to dynamically load some values to the column
simplified formula will look like below.
=IF(HLOOKUP("C",ADDRESS(ROW()-1,COLUMN(),4 ),1,FALSE)="C","C","A")
check the row above this/current column exact match if the value in that row is "C" then put "C" in this/current row and column else put "A".

If student missed exam and has a zero – keep zero.
If student has a grade of 1-119 points, increase their grade 40 points.
If student has a grade of 120-125 points, increase their grade 35 points.
If student has a grade of 126-131 points, increase their grade 31 points.
If student has a grade of 132-139 points, increase their grade 27 points.
with these conditions, if my midterms grade is 120, how would i calculate it using HLookup? i worked on it but i keep getting the #NA! error.

I am not sure if EXCEL allows a HLOOKUP within an HLOOKUP. If not, how can I get around this?
I have macro that brings information from outlook to excel. In the beginning of macro, it deletes range of cells. That destroys the functions that target those cells. Is there a way avoid that? Using some different method or ?

I am processing an infinite set of data from a meteorological station here in Alaska which gives me half hourly data reading with a time stamp 00.00, 00.30, 01.00, 01.30, 02.00, 02.30 and so on.
I am using this formula to detect every time half hour reading is skipped (=IF(TEXT(MOD(B1936-B1934,1),"[M]")="30","","missing")) and it works pretty well.
Still I have to check and manually insert extra missing for every half hour missing but that's bearable.
This formula inserts a "missing" every time it finds a gap.
My question is: How can I insert a row above every cell with "missing"?
How do I do that? Here is also my excel sheet.

I've recently been making a macro in visual basic that loops through all my excel files and replaces an old company name to a new company name and It's working great, well except for one thing... It always misses one string in the file and it leaves me with 90% of the file corrected. I think that the string might be a part of a merged range so Range.Find is not able to find it. I have two columns which i want to compare, they contain text data such as A123.
what I'd like is if its in column A and not in Column B then add to bottom of column A.

Fragment marked in red is currently missing and if I want to use it, I would be nesting too many if functions again. To describe the situation: Row 41 is staff available for task, sometimes there is nobody doing the task therefore function will force value 0 in all variances if there is no staff available.
There are also occasions that despite having a number of staff allocated to do the task, nothing’s been received due to a various reasons, this is where I have designed a function calculating hourly variance against what was received against the planned target for this hour. When there is no staff – everything will be 0
When nothing’s been received – target for the hour will be negative. When there was something received – the difference between last receiving figure and current one, minus target for an hour will provide the hourly rate, but If nothing’s been received for the last couple hours, it will go to the last hour when something was received and calculate hourly rate basing on the difference between current figure, last available figure and target for an hour. And here we are at the heart of the problem – in the last cell I cannot use same function as I would have to nest too many “if” functions, therefore it does not include receiving figure in E44 at the moment.
trying to transfer a macro from Win XP, Excel 2003(?) to Mac OS X, Excel X, my program crashes due to missing functions in Excel X.

I have various 6 x 6 blocks which contain just numbers, in another part of the spread sheet I have a 1 x 6 block of numbers. What I need to do is to check whether any of the numbers in the 1 x 6 block appear in any of the 6 x 6 blocks.If that does occur then I want to make a specific cell increase by the times that the match happens.using HLookup but just got errors and the If Statement, although did work, went on and on and on.

On Sheet1 of my spreadsheet, there are fields:

(The last three are the most important)
On sheet two, Postcode, Area, Rep already have data entered in thier respective columns. (D3, E3, F3).
What I need done on Sheet1 is when the user enters the first two characters of a postcode, the 'program' will lookup the entire row respective to the postcode that is entered. when enter is pressed, the Postcode will copy itself from the other sheet as well as the Area number and the Rep into the empty fields in Sheet1. The other way to do this is look through a long list until the right postcode for an Area is found then assign the Rep the Contact details (Add. 1, Add. 2, Add. 3...).

The information in cell B14 is the same as the target sheet name.
I want to move the target sheet to another workbook.

My problem is that on one sheet(BlkPick) I have Rows containing headings(Location Names)and a column containing Product names. I wish to lookup the corresponding value contained at the matching intersection on another worksheet. I have searched this forum along with google and found that INDEX & MATCH are what I should be combining with Vlookup and these work when used on the same worksheet but when I test using say MATCH alone I get an error when attempting to MATCH my result from a different worksheet.

Really basic question - I'm trying to get HLOOKUP to lookup a number and return text that is in another cell but it keeps returning #N/A. I know the formula works because when I change the text (that I want returned) into a number it returns the figure. How can I get round this?

I am having trouble writing a function to search for a specific amount and result in the the cell below that specific amount.
So people are moving up by one year on the schedule I would like to use their current salary to lookup and display their salary for next year.
I am confused on how to incorporate the different functions I am assuming an index and a hlookup...
Is it possible to use HLOOKUP without exact matches. e.g. < =HLOOKUP(E1,Actuals,2) > where E1 is "2009 October" and the lookup value in named range "Actuals" would be simply "Oct".
