Get The Highest Value When All Values Consist Of Letters AND Numbers?

I have thousands of drawings listed in colums and each in the row has revisions P01 to P10 for Proposal and C01 to C10 For Construction. Is there a way of getting the highest revision of all listed in a row without turning them into numbers when P is older than C , but 1 is older than 10? MAX function doesnt count when value consists of both - number and letter.
Manualy selecting the highes revision will cost me weeks... and brain damage.. as I have thousands of drawings and more are coming...

I have 2 columns i want to find out which items match in each column and put the matching value in column c. I have tried Vlookup and continue to get an N/A .. I tried countif and I get either an N/A or a value error. I have tried turning the cells into text but that is not working either..
column A has about 1700 rows and column B has about 4000
MOST CELLS ARE 6-7 VARIABLES.. satrting with either 01, 02, 03 with 4-5 letters following or have a 6 digit number or 6 letter value.

I have imported and filtered a .csv. to specified sheet names. I have rows that have been sorted by a specific column's cell contents. i.e.

I need to be able to select all the rows or ranges that contain a common value 1's and then loop back and select the next group 2's of rows until the row or column contains "".

i have a list of 2000 fields which have the same format IE "AB10014"
I need to remove the "AB" from every field and leave the #.
Besides putting a space and running text to columns I'm not sure how.

I have a column of cells, some blank, some containing just numbers, some containing just letters, some containing numbers preceded by the the letter 'p'
E.g.
frt
34.2
36
p34.5
In the cells containing the number preceded by the 'p' - i would like to remove the 'p' leaving just the number, with all other cells remaining unchanged.

I'm attempting to put together a script which in simple terms finds the 'Highest and Second' highest activity and associated FTE for a given sub group.
To be more specific:
On the "Slide 1" sheet look at the values in column J starting at row 7 until blank;For each value, then search the "All Monthly Direct Activities" sheet in column C for the same value, excluding the 'Subtotal' rows;Where a match is found, compare all the values in column E for that sub group;And Find the highest and second highest figure;
Once these are found copy this figure and associated value in column B and paste onto the "slide 1" sheet.
I'm not particularly well versed in writing VB, but I've been working with the code to see if I can get this work, which I have been unable to do.
I have attached a file which may perhaps provide a greater detail than my description of the problem containing the 'Source' and 'Destination' sheets.

I have a spreadsheet wtih a number of rows that contain answers to different criertia in each column.
The row may therefore have cells that either have numbers or letters.
Column A will be the title of the row.
I want to write a function to find the average value of the numbers in any row with title 'x'.
So it would look down column A, and look for those called 'x', and then average all the numbers across all those rows.
I have tried to use =averageif, but I think the fact there are letters in the cells being assessed (which I just want to be ignored) creates an error.

Tallying entires from a PDF into excel. Such that

In a cell I would like to type =c+d+c for example and have it say 17,000 rather then me having to type in =1000+15000+1000.

How can I add bN =17 bmN =19 bD=24
=SUM(COUNTIF(B4:AZ4,{"bN","bmN","bD"})) to add up to 60

I'm trying to wrap up a spreadsheet and I'm trying to figure out how to have my formula use the highest of 2 numbers when making a calculation.
For example:
If:
Cell A1 = 5000
Cell B1 = 3828
I want the formula to use A1 in this case. However, if the total of B1 = 6000, I want the formula to use B1 instead of A1 in the calculation. (A1 = 5000 will always be a constant/base).

I came up with a way to extract entire row corresponding to the highest number in L column and to post it in the different sheet.
I have 2 issues to solve though.
1. I need to extract only 13 ranges corresponding to the highest number in L column - ( A through M) - not entire row.
2. I need to do the same with the second and the third highest numbers of the same column L.
This is what I have so far:

I am looking for a formula that will add the 8 highest values in a range of up to 20 cells. The range may have fewer than 8 values in some cases in which case the sum of all those values will be returned.
Thus a row with these values will yield the following output (bold denotes highest 8 values):
8, 28, 45, 13, 17, 19, 21, 30, 47, 8, 15
47+45+30+28+21+19+17+15= 222

I have a problem when using autoshapes. Above a display of columns of data, which are of different widths, I need to display several pairs of boxes, which consist of a descriptor box and a value box. If I use formatting in cells, I am constrained to use the width of the columns below. So I will be using autoshape rectangles. No limit on box widths and I can link each one to a cell to send text to them. So far so good.
However, I would like to contain a group of these box pairs within another autoshape. When I do this, if I fill the outer autoshape with colour, I have the choice of making the colour solid, which means you can't see the inside box pairs at all, or semitransparent, which allows the boxes to loom through a fog of the outer colour. What I would like is for the inner boxes to show properly, and fill only the space between the inner boxes and the rim of the outer autoshape

I'm trying to find a way to create an excel sheet for my company. It will be used to import into our CMDB. Its for computers(ID) and their monitors(LINKED TO)
We have made 3 rows: ID, CHECK and LINKED TO which consist of the ID's of each computer and the attached monitor. The CHECK row is where we put the word "OK" if that computer is physically present at that location. After this list was made, we decided NOT to link the monitors to the computers, so afterwards we will delete the row LINKED TO.
What i need to do now, in order to not have to seek every monitor manually, is to have a formula which looks up an id (i.e. WBE01111) in the LINKED TO row, and if that one exists in the ID row, it will place the word "OK" in the CHECK row.
Example: (with WBE01111 being a monitor attached to computer WBE03333)
[ID]_____________[CHECK]______[LINKED TO]
WBE03333________ OK _________WBE01111
WBE09999________ OK ________ WBE08888
WBE01111________(**)_________
**=formula must put OK here
So the WBE01111(monitor) below [LINKED TO] exists in the [ID] row, i want the formula to see that, and put OK below [CHECK] for WBE01111

I'm working on a function that will sum a row of cells containing letters and numbers. I am currently using :
=SUMPRODUCT((0&SUBSTITUTE(SUBSTITUTE(SUBSTITUTE(SUBSTITUTE(B5:S5,"T",""),"TP",""),"TPE",""),"P",""))+0) as my base.
Right now the formula will work with T, TP, and P; however as soon as I type TPE I get #value.
Either way you get the point of what I am trying to do, however my cells can contain any one of the following combinations:
T,TP,TPE
P,PE,
E

I am a school teacher trying to adjust my tracking sheet to calculate pupils levels. I am looking for 2 potential formulas that will do the following.
1 - In cell AE I would like to generate a formula that will take the data entered in cells J:5, L:5, N:5, P:5, R:5, T:5, V:5, X:5, Z:5, AB:5 and AD:5 and give an average level.
2 - In cell AH is it possible to generate a formula that will calculate how many levels of progress the pupils are making - In other words I need Cell I to be calculated against cell J to see how much progress the pupils are making - for example if in cell I:5, a pupil is was given a 3a, and then in cell J:5 is given a 4b, they will have made 2 sub levels of progress. As well as this, can that progress then be averaged out across cells I:5, K:5, L:5, M:5, O:5, Q:5, S:5, U:5, W:5, Y:5, AA:5 and AC:5 to give an overall number of of levels of progress? An then..... can I colour co-ordinate the cell so that if the pupils are making 3 or more sub levels of progress it turns green, 2 sub levels orange and 1 sub level red?

How do I do data validation/cell formatting so that only alphabetic characters can be entered and no numbers?
(We use the cell for First Name, Last Name, etc. and I don't want potential entries like Mr. 56565 55454 because the cells are formatted as text and allow alphabet and numbers.)
I tried =NOT(ISNUMBER(H6)) for Data Validation, but that didn't work.

We are doing a database conversion and I have been tasked with converting all our old promotion codes to a new system. The long and the short of it is this:
I am trying to write an equation that will look at two cells (say A1 & B1) which when put together could be one of the following numbers (01,02,03,04,05,06,07,08,09,10,11,12) and translate them to a letter (A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,J,K,M,N)
So 01=A, 02=B and so on...
I was trying to use if statements, but there are too many.
