Limit To MSGBOX Output
Mar 29, 2007I was wondering is there a limit on the output of a msgbox. I have an output that will only display a certain amount of characters. Is there another option that can be used.

Multiplying And Calculating Net Using VBA With Output Using MsgBox
May 30, 2014I have to complete the following project in visual basic for Excel
direction quantity price
b 400 10
b 100 20
s 900 15
So the above is a small sample space of what i have(over 3000 rows in total) they are stocks. if there is a "b" in the direction that denotes a negative (short) and if there is an "s" (long) that denotes positive.
Two parts:
1) Write a traditional macro (with button) that when pressed, will give the total Net value in a message box.
2) Secondly, write the code in 'class module' that give me the over all net value in a message box.
I understand what I need to do but just don't know how to write the code for this in visual basic.
So for the above example the net would be -400(10) -100(20) + 900(15) = +$7500
But how can I write a program to do this and display the final answer in a message box?

Feb 21, 2010Hi, Please could someone help with the following code. I have 2 sheets 'sheet 1' and 'sheet 2'(hidden). Sheet 1 has a control button that takes you straight to sheet 2, however what I wish to achieve is that before sheet 2 is visible a message box appears if a condition is not met. Something like, if sheet 1 R29 is less than 5000 then msg box appears (I would need about 4 lines in the msg box), if ok'd then sheet 2 appears. If the condition is met i.e sheet 1 R29 = or is greater than 5000 then the msg box does not appear and takes the user to sheet 2.

It may be opened more then once per day. I just nedd a message on day 2nd - 4th day.

MsgBox With Warning
Aug 26, 2005I have several material takeoff sheets and one material SummarySheet in my workbook.
Each material takeoff sheet has a subtotal cell at the bottom of the sheet. The subtotals are added together and the total sum is displayed in a cell on the SummarySheet. At least that is how it is supposed to work. Excel or somebody else arbitrarily changed the cell reference in the SummarySheet formula to call up the cell one row above the subtotal cell on the material takeoff sheets. This little action resulted in a loss of $674,000 and may eventually result in my unemployment. Meanwhile I am sitting here putting out fires.
This is what I would like to do: Place a formula on the SummarySheet or add a Macro that will trigger a warning message box if the total on the SummarySheet is not equal to the sum of the subtotals on the material takeoff sheets. Also would like to have the message box animated or brightly colored.

So I have an "OK" button and a "Cancel" button.

I'm using the phrase "!!<"@">!!" to add the code, but with some cell contents the result is ########### (but much longer), and I'm having to remove some of the text to make it work. The limit seems to be around 255 characters.

Feb 26, 2007I have a workbook with 3 sheets. Sheet 1 contains a month of data with Customer Name and Product Code, and quantity shipped (columns A, B, and C). Sheet 2 contains Product Code and quantity produced (Column A and B). In Sheet 3, I have the customer name listed once by running a pivot table against the data in Sheet 1. I need to show the quantity produced for each customer in Sheet 3 but not exceed the quantity produced for that Product Code in Sheet 2 even if the quantity shipped was greater. For example:
Sheet 1
Customer A - 100 shipped of Product Code X
Customer B - 200 shipped of Product Code X
Sheet 2
Product Code X - 150 produced
Sheet 3
Customer A - 100 total
Customer B - 50 total
Customer B would only be allocated 50 as there was only 150 produced and Customer A was allocated 100 of the total 150 produced, leaving 50 to allocate to Customer B.
Summation With Limit
May 25, 2009how to make a summation formula in excel (not simply adding 2 numbers together)? I have one cell that I would enter a number into, and another cell which would specify the limit. So if the first cell A1 = 1, and cell A2 = 50, then the 3rd cell would automatically add up every number "n" plus 1 until n=50. ie: (1+1)+(2+1)+(3+1)+...+(50+1)=result. The limit would have to be flexible, so if I change the 3rd cell to 70 then it would calculate to 70.
