Excel 2003 :: Limiting Dropdown List Based On User Selection

Jun 27, 2014

I would like to be able to limit a drop down list's contents based on a user's selection in a different drop down. I am using Excel 2003, and I know how to do this in Access, but I can't figure it out in Excel. Basically, I have a list of themes in one drop down. The user picks a theme, and goes to a second drop down which is a list of sub-themes attributable to that one theme and no other theme.

Graying Out Custom Menu Buttons When Sheet/book Protected?

Oct 6, 2009

is there a way to cause my custom menu items to grey out like the built-in ones, depending on the current selection or when the status of the active worksheet/workbook changes (e.g. when the book is protected to disallow certain actions)?

Obviously I can trap any problems once the associated VBA is invoked, but it'd be more professional if I could just prevent that from happening in the first place.

Formula Based On Dropdown Menu Selection?

Feb 21, 2014

Sheet 1 has a table of prices. There are 7 columns labelled 2 thru 8 and two rows, labelled 1 and 2. Each combo has a separate price.

Sheet 2 has a weight specification (1 or 2 referring to the rows in sheet 1) and a drop down menu with options 2 thru 8.

When I choose a number from the drop down menu, let's say 5, I want to populate another cell with the value from sheet 1 of column 5 on row "whatever the weight spec is", let's say 2.

Changing Values Based On Drop Down Menu Selection

Dec 15, 2009

Attached is the file i am working with. The table spanning from A:AA5:16 contains hours worked per day of the week with respect to the Project chosen from the drop down menus in A7:16. Cells in the range of F,K,O,R,U,X,AA7:16 total those hours worked on a daily basis. The table below should sum the total hours worked per day according to the Project selected in A19 from the drop down menu, with respect to the Project(s) chosen in cell range A7:16. For example, if i am looking for total hours worked Monday on Project RSB i select "RSB" from the drop down menu in cell A19, i want cell F18:19 to be the sum of cells A7 and A9, with respect to the Project selected from cells A7:16. If I select "FRG" from the drop down in cell A19, i want cell F18:19 to reflect the sum of cells F8 and F10.

Change Button Function Based On Dropdown Menu Selection?

Jun 9, 2014

I've got a drop-down menu with four options in it that match up with the cells D11:D14, and next to those I've got spots for counting the totals (E11:E14). Next to the drop-down I've got plus and minus buttons, and I need to make it so if I have the top option selected in the dropdown and press plus, it adds +1 to E11. Second option and the same plus button, +1 to E12, and so on.

The purpose is for a call tracker, the employee would select the reason for the call (maybe more added later) and hit the button to add the call to the report.

I've looked so I know you normally ask for what I've got so far, and that's nothing. I've got all the other buttons wired up but I don't even know where to start with this one. I can include a screenshot if necessary.

Copy / Paste From Cell In One Sheet To A Cell In Another Dependent On Selection Of Dropdown Menu

May 31, 2012

I have a workbook with two sheets. The idea behind the workbook is an Interview Guide to be used just before an Interview. For now my problem is this.

Sheet 2 "Competencies" is just data. It stores competencies with their associated definitions and questions.

Sheet 1 "Control Page" is the sheet where the questions will eventually go. The user (Interviewer) will input data on the first two pages which will include name of candidate, date of interview etc. but they will also select 5 Competencies from the already existing drop down menus on page two. From there as the selections are made I wish for a code to copy the corresponding definition on sheet 'Competencies" to cells lower down in sheet "Control page".

I don't see a place to upload a file as I have a sample of the sheet ready to go.

Custom Menu Disappeared.

Jun 17, 2009

Just curious as to what could make a custom menu or custom button disappear from Excel upon opening it. I had created a custom menu with personal.xls macros in it for someone here a while back, and today it was completely missing.. although the Personal.xls folder still existed with the macros.

I am quite sure that they did not manually remove the menu by right-clicking and selecting Customize and dragging back the menu items...

Move Row To Another Sheet Based On Action Words Chosen From Dropdown Menu

Feb 7, 2013

I have a excel file to keep track of sales pipeline. What I am looking for, is an automated utility or code that will allow excel to automatically move entire rows once a task is completed and can be moved to another sheet. In Prospect sheet I have a column for " sales stage" and here you have to select from a drop down menu, either "Prospect", "semi-qualifed" "Pre-qualified" "verbal" "closed-won" and Lost. What I would like, is that once you have selected one of the sales stage, the entire row or entry, will be automatically moved to a new sheet according to each stage.

Create Custom Menu Items For Add-in

Feb 15, 2010

I have created an Addin from one I found on this site which creates a menu on the CommandBar. On this menu I can add my Macros. The Menu is initially supposed to perform a delete function then an add, just in case the menu already exists on the CommandBar. It is also supposed to Uninstall the menu when you de-select the Addin. At the moment it doesn't seem to be doing either, as I have now got 5 CommandBar menu's all the same and I can't delete them?

This also creates a problem of when I add another macro, the menu on the CommandBar doesn't update with the addition?

I have attached the .xla file for you to look at and see where I'm going wrong.

I can't find any VB code, hidden worksheets, hidden cells, etc to find the source of this item being created. I have even deleted all VB modules and worksheets except a blank sheet and it still creates the item. Somewhere this menu bar item is being created and I have no idea where. Excel 2013 :: Custom Menu From Add-in VBA Not Working?

Feb 16, 2014

I created an add-in with custom VBA and forms, which also stores user preferences in worksheets in the addin. When the add-in loads, it creates a custom menu on the Add-Ins ribbon that allows the user to run the main macro, or to assign a shortcut key of their choosing. It also allows them to enter registration information.

In Excel 2013, the code is all accessible since the add-in still loads, but it doesn't add the custom menu allowing users to interact with the macros. I'm told this is due to the switch to SDI.

It seems that adding Workbook_Open code to a normal file allows the custom menu to be created, but adding the same code to an add-in file does not work.
