I have created a macro that copies the outcome of a specific calculation (that is driven by random numbers) and pastes it (as values) into a seperate table. It then recalculates the sheet, copies the new outcome and pastes it into the same table at a row beneath the previous one.
However, I would like to be able to determine how many times this loop is repeated (i.e. how many rows of outcomes will be generated) without having to change the macro each time. Is this possible? Maybe by just linking it to a cell where the number of outcomes/repeats is specified.
I have never built or used a macro before and need very clear step by step instructions. I am just assuming that a macro is the answer to what I am looking for but if there is a simplier solution that would be fantastic.
I need to be able to repeat a row of data a specified amount of times.
Example:
3 Yellow James 2 Green Mark 5 Purple Sue 1 Orange David
Needs to look like:
3 Yellow James 3 Yellow James 3 Yellow James 2 Green Mark 2 Green Mark 5 Purple Sue 5 Purple Sue 5 Purple Sue 5 Purple Sue 5 Purple Sue 1 Orange David
I'm trying to repeat a macro a set number of times depending on the number a person inputs into cell B3.
Here it is currently: Columns("C:D").Select Range("C4").Activate Selection.Copy Columns("E:E").Select Range("E4").Activate Selection.Insert Shift:=xlToRight Range("C3:D3").Select
In my workbook I have about 20 sheets (less in the attached sample), and on most sheets I’d like to query data for each day and find an average value based on the time and then copy that result into another sheet. I’m not sure if I’ll need 2 macro’s for this or if one can be used.
Here’s a quick description:
Assuming that I am currently in the sheet I want to run the macro, then I will either input “1:45” or “0:45” into a popup box, or I could always simply input the 1:45 or 0:45 in the code itself. I’m flexible
1:45:
If I input 1:45, then I’d like the macro to find the first 1:45 in Column B and the value in the same row in Column F will be used in the calculation. Once 1:45 is located, then the macro moves up to find 22:45 in Column B and the value in the same row in Column F will be used in the calculation.....
I'll try to explain this the best I can. What I have here is a time study. Teachers (which are the control numbers) fill out bubble sheets, then I run them through a scanner. After dissecting the data from the scanner and formatting it to my liking i get this below.
Each teacher/staff member fills out three sheets per quarter. Each letter (bubble) counts as a 0:15 min period of time. Only K thru Q counts as billable time, which I've created a formula to count those letters (column 3). But to be countable each control number has to have three cycles 201,202,203.
So I need something that can take each control number that has three cycles and add their # of 0:15 together.
The italic row below only has one cycle for that control number, so that needs to be deleted or ignored.
Ultimately I would like the results on a separate sheet.
This is only a part of the file, there are over 1000 different control numbers.
Id like to run a Sub Macro a certain number of times, dependant on the amount of data provided. It could be that I need to run it say 290 times today, but 500 tomorrow.
Is there a bit of code to say, run the macro '500' times?
At the moment, if I set it to run more than it would need to it debugs and gives a compile error, procedure to large.g
Just curios if this is the most efficient way to copy a workbook x number of times. I tried copying 77 workbooks and not sure exactly how long it took, but about 2 mintues. The original workbook is 300 KB.
I am trying to create a formula that would provide a result a specific number of times based on a table in a seperate worksheet. Here is an example:
Person: # of times John 2 Joe 2 Frank 2 Jack 1
Based on an IF statement, the cell should bring back John, the next cell down should bring back John, the third cell should bring back Joe as John has reached his limit of 2, and have this repeat until all criteria that meet the IF statement have been met.
I have a form to collect employee details. If i give the number of employees in one form, I will throw another form to collect the employee details. If I give 5 in first form, then the second form should be thrown 5 times and get the details. If I use for loop, then all the 5 form are thrown at once.
I am having some difficulty with a pdf that I converted to an excel document because I wanted to use the data from the pdf tables in a different program I am currently working on. However, the data is in the improper format. For example, in the table it reads 2-1/8 as string and I want it to be the number value 2.125 . Likewise if the value in the table reads 5-1/4 I want it to automatically convert it to something that will be read as the number 5.25
I am trying to split names across columns. The problem is that some names spilt into 3 columns (first, middle, last), and others split across 5 or 6 (extra names, etc.)
Is there a way to specify split, using SPACE as a delimiter, but only split on the first TWO spaces, then leave the rest alone?
I enter a part number in "D1". The number of components required for that part number is returned in "G1" based on a VLookup. I would like a macro that will copy and paste the part number I enter in "D1" in the first empty cell in column "D" and will paste it once for each component (G1) required. For example, if the number of components required is 4, and the first empty cell in column "D" is "D10", I would like to paste the part number in cells "D10", "D11", "D12", and "D13".
I have written two VBA programs around the same time. Both run on open and pull external data and create graphs. My problem is that I want the end user to be able to run the report multiple times by choosing the name of the macro from the Excel macro menu (i.e. Tools>Macro>Macros) but only one of the workbook macros shows up on the menu. why the other macro is not visible on this menu???
I am trying to create a graph that is conditional on two different columns. The first column is a date column, the second column has various categories. I want to show how many times each category appears per month. This database is continually added to so I wanted the formula to reflect the entire column range.
For example, let say I have 5 categories (Grapes, Apples, Peach, Pear, Banana). Column A would show a date (in a M/D/Y format) and Column B would list the fruit type. I want to show how many Grapes were input in January, February, March, etc. and then move on to show how many apples in each month, and so on.
More specifically, i want to count how many times a dozen lates to come.
The range from 1-12 is 1st dozen, from 13-24 is the 2nd and 25-36 is the 3rd.
I want to count among these numbers, how many times one of three dozens appear every 1 time, how many times appears every 2 times, .... until 20 times.
For example: I have put in a column 500 numbers from 0 to 36.
The output must be like this:
1st Dozen: Every 1 time: x Every 2 times: n Every 20 times: m
I have a workbook with 4 worksheets. I have a macro ( Cntrl + U ) that runs a series of steps and prints the results with it ending on the beginning page. This works well but I want it to repeat the macro until it reaches a blank cell on the starting page.
In cell A2 I have the date 28/12/11, I need that date to repeat 6 times, then in A8 it should say 01/03/11 6 times and so on , I know this can be done but my brain is on a go slow this afternoon and I can't for the life of me work it out
I'm trying to create a macro to input information into a cell then repeat until the information stops.
So say I have 10 rows of information that fill up A1:D10. in E1:E10 I'd like a macro to insert some data into E1 then go to E2 and do the same until the end and then stop. So since A11:D11 would be blank the formula would just stop.
I actually work on 100's of cells a day and this is for a bigger project I'm trying to put together or I would just drag.
I can assign a number of copies to print by adjusting ActiveWindow.SelectedSheets.PrintOut Copies:= , but what I want it to have the number of copies auto adjust to the value of a cell that contains a formula. I was hoping it would something as simple as Copies:=cell but no luck...
What im trying to do is have a macro that will open a file called Blue 1.xls in location "I:SchedulesBlue" and then copy data from cells N13:034. Then paste it into another excel file (Press.xls)on worksheet "Press Break" cell G14.
The data that is copied not always fills up the cells N13:O34 so I need it to go to the next blank cell in column N and paste the information from file Blue 2, and so on for Yellow 1, Yellow 2, YellNR, and Green.
So to summarise I need a macro to open 6 files copy data from the same location on each of the files(N13:O34) then close and paste it into a master document(Press.xls) worksheet "Press Break".
