Matching Or Index Multiple Arrays?

Mar 17, 2014

I have attached a sample from aspeadsheet I am working on. The option reply sheet has '1' entered if the student has opted to take this course. On the other subject sheets I would like the names who have opted for that subject to appear. Stuidents can opted for multiple subjects. I have tried Match and Index functions but it is difficult as students can opt for more than one.

Multiple Arrays - Matching Data To Items

Jun 20, 2012

I have code that runs through multiple arrays trying to match data to items in the arrays and it takes a long time to run.

Code:
dim a as long
dim b as long
dim c as long
dim d as long
dim e as long

dim MyAarray as variant

[Code] ..........

That's basically what the code does. however, it takes an extremely long time to get through with everything as each array increases in size.

Index Matching With Multiple Columns

Oct 14, 2008

I'm trying to have a cell where I return the minimum value of column A but only when column B equals 380 and when C equals 80. I know how to do it if I select my range manually to be the range including all the 380's and 80's but I'd like to select the entire data set to look through so that I can easily change the criteria to say finding the minimum in Column A when B equals 420 and C equals 40.

Sum Index Results Matching Multiple Criteria

Jul 14, 2009

I have a spreadsheet schedule that pulls quantities from another spreadsheet's cells. if the part number of the reference row matches the schedule cell's part number (row), and the date of the reference cell row is 2 workdays after that of the schedule cell's column, the quantity is put in the right place in the schedule. that part works. the problem I have is that sometimes there is more than one quantity with the same part number and date (due to the parts belonging to different jobs). when this is the case, only one of the quantities is picked up by the schedule. i want the schedule cells to sum the quantities of the reference file with matching criteria. i also don't want to have to change the reference file at all in order to do this. below is the function that works (besides summing the duplicates). the part after the " " is what i would need to alter.

HXS is the reference file where D is the part number column, I is the date column, and 5 is the index column referencing the quantity.

C is the part number column in the schedule
K is the date row in the schedule ....

SumProduct Over Non Matching Arrays

Jul 4, 2007

in my spreadsheet, there are two pages:

[data] ....

on the 11th row there should be a formula which sums corresponding column, according to how many items and which items were used in this particular set: corresponding prices should found from array "prices" (page a).

i'd like to use array formula (ctrl+shift+enter) if needed (like: {SUM((units=units2)*set2)}) or sumproduct function (like: SUMPRODUCT((units2=units)*set1) ), but can't use it, cause the arrays aren't equal. any ideas (except additional column on sheet B, where reside corresponding prices, then can use sumproduct function)?

Index Arrays - Conditions Are Based On Dropdown Menus

Mar 16, 2014

I am looking to create an index array. the conditions for the array are based on drop down menus. I want to have it that if the drop down menu has * in it, the array should calculate everything rather than a specific value.

={IF(ROWS(I$14:I14)>$H$7,"",

IFERROR(INDEX('Sheet1'!$C:$C,SMALL(IF(('Sheet1'!$T:$T=Sheet2!$H$2)*('Sheet1'!$U:$U=Sheet2!$I$2)*('Sheet1'!$L:$L>0),ROW('Sheet1'!$T:$T)),

ROWS(I$14:I14))),"")}

In the SMALL array I have three conditions:

1.'Sheet1'!$T:$T=Sheet2!$H$2
2. 'Sheet1'!$U:$U=Sheet2!$I$2
3. 'Sheet1'!$L:$L>0

The array works fine but only if I place an actual value in the drop down cells which are H2, I2. The third condition is just to ensure it only calculates the array for rows that have numbers above 0. My question is how can I amend it so that selecting "*" in the drop down cells will calculate for everything?

INDEX/MATCH Function To Retrieve Vlaues From A Table And AVERAGE Them (arrays)

Mar 26, 2009

I have 2 sheets recording feedback and summarising the overall percentages for each trainer.

My boss wants me to do this by month!?!?!

I have created a third sheet but I am not sure how to do the following:
Look up the trainer name
Look up the month
identify the percentages for each category
create an overall average of these percentages

So for example if Jon smith trained twice in JAN getting 100% and 50% in cat1, it would display 75% in the cat 1 cell and so on.

Sorting By Index And Matching Formula

Jul 7, 2009

I'm attempting to sort a list of containers and their corresponding quantities (A24:B28 in the attached spreadsheet) by using a combination of an index and match formula (cells A31:A35) and a large formula (cells B31:B35) in order to have the container with the largest quantity (summed in cells B24:B28) appear below in cells A31:A35 and the corresponding quantities in cells B24:B28.

My current index and match formula works fine until I have the same quantities of different containers as I have replicated on the attached spreadsheet. When this is the case, the formula returns only one of the various container types. How do I edit the formula to allow for multiple containers with the same quantities?

VBA Code To Float, value, down Column For Index/Matching Value Of Other Columns

Mar 6, 2009

I would like to amend my macro w/ additional code that will allow me to view the value in column A, if a subject is chosen from list from columns D or E. Choosing a singal subject to view from row2,from column,D or E will cause the value in column A to not be seen if the subject does not correspond with the row the value is located. Is there a way to match values from corresponding/matching column values with the rows with values in columnA? And. allow if match found to display/list the value in the first empty cell in column A for match? I would also like the macro to reverse match for column A.

So if a single value is selected in column A for view, then all rows for which the value pertains to will also be shown, instead of just the single row with the value.
Here's an examplary make of the booklet.

Slicing And Dicing CSV Files - Involves Arrays And Jagged Arrays

May 8, 2013

I am retrieving a CSV file from the net. In this file there are 'x' amount of row data and 7 columns. I only care about the values in the 7th column for each row. I also don't care about the entire first row. A graphical version would be represented something like this, with the values I want colored in orange:

---,---,---,---,---,---,---
---,---,---,---,---,---,---
---,---,---,---,---,---,---
---,---,---,---,---,---,---
---,---,---,---,---,---,---
---,---,---,---,---,---,---
---,---,---,---,---,---,---

.
. extending until the end of the data set
.

I've managed to dice this thing into a jagged array by first splitting it using vbLf as a delimiter, and therefore adding those to an array called Lines(). Then I split Lines() up using commas as the delimiter and threw those into a jagged array, let's call it Breadcrumbs()(). I want to throw all the values from Breadcrumbs(i)(6) into an array of its own. Here's my code so far:

Code:
Public Sub CSVparser(file As String)
Dim Lines As Variant
Dim j As Integer
Lines = Split(file, vbLf)
ReDim breadCrumbs(UBound(Lines)) As Variant
For i = 1 to UBound(Lines) - 1
breadCrumbs(i) = Split(Lines(i), ",")
Next i
End Sub

Excel 2010 :: INDEX MATCH Only Returns First Value Instead Of All Matching Values In Selected Column

Jul 18, 2014

Excel 2010: I'm working with a sheet where I would like to get accurate results on the make and model of cars sold in a given week. The workbook contains several worksheets each representing weekly sales numbers for different vehicles.

The Make-Models tab has the lists used to create the drop-down selections.

The Sales tab allows one to create an ad hoc report on the total number of vehicles sold, by Make and Model. Cell B2 is named 'SelectedModel' and used in the formula found in column E, Total Sold.

Problem: When I select Honda, for example in B2 of the Sales worksheet then select Accord in cell B3 of the same. The results returned in E2, E3 and E4 are 2, 3 and 4, respectively, instead of 8, 3 and 7.

2 Honda Accords were sold on Monday and 6 on Tuesday of the same week. My formula is only returning the first matched value of 2 whereas I would like it to return 2+6, 8 for week 1. Same goes for other weeks.

Select any other make and model and notice the problem follows. I believe the error is due to incorrect usage of the formula or incorrect formula altogether.

IF(ISNA(INDEX(Week1!E:E,MATCH(SelectedModel,Week1!B:B,0))),0,
INDEX(Week1!E:E,MATCH(SelectedModel,Week1!B:B,0)))

Match Multiple Criteria From Different Arrays

Apr 19, 2006

I'm trying to create a template that will be able to return a sales persons call target based on the category they sell and the current level they are. It works when I only ask it to look for one or the other, but I'm getting stuck trying to make it use both. I've attached a small sample. My original equation is as follows

=INDEX($C$2:$Q$51,MATCH($B2,$A$2:$A$51,0),MATCH(G$1,$C$1:$Q$1,0))

and this works perfectly fine. The problem I've now got is I need to add in a second criteria for setting the row_num. I've tried the following but I get a ref error. =INDEX($C$2:$Q$51,AND(MATCH($B3,$A$2:$A$51,0),MATCH(D3,$B$2:$B$51,0),MATCH(G$1,Telesales!$C$1:$Q$1,0)))

Creating Formula That Will Lookup For Multiple Arrays?

May 28, 2014

I need creating a formula for the following situation.

I need to link multiple arrays from different sheets. But am having a hard time concocting a formula that will work.

I have 2 columns of data on sheet1. For example:

A-------------B
apples-----1245
oranges----456
nuts--------384

etc.

Now, I need a formula that will sum the entire column B, by looking up the array of column A on another sheet and only summing the numbers on sheet 1 that also have a value of "West" on sheet 2. Sheet 2 looks like this:

A-------------B
apples------West
oranges-----East
nuts---------West

This needs to be functional as a template to be used each month - the entire point of the formula is to save time and eliminate the current (and lengthy method that is in use). I can tweak the formulas as needed. But am trying to avoid having to concatenate anything or do any modifications to the format of the sheets.

Lookup With Merged Cells And Multiple Arrays?

Aug 6, 2014

I'm looking to look up sheet name based on a date, then look the date up within that sheet which is a merged cell, then return the figure in the corresponding cell.

I have a sample worksheet to attach, just have to work out how to do it.!

In the sheet "Cashflow Summary" in cell E24, i want to lookup the sheet name based on the value in C22 (merged cell), then lookup the date in that sheet (6 August 2014), and return the value in cell y8.

The difficulty is with firstly the merged cells, but also performing the lookup over a number of different arrays, as the sheets for each month, have the months listed under each other in rows of 5 days at a time.

Multilookup Based On Multiple Criterion Without Using Arrays

Mar 6, 2009

Multilookup based on Multiple criterion without using Arrays
Dear Forum,

I am well aware of the oft-mentioned Array Solution which gives us more than one record based on mulitple criterion using the INDEX function..

the formula layout being as mentioned below:

[ ={INDEX(A2:A100,SMALL(IF((B2:B100=<Condtn 1>)*(C2:C100=<Condtn 2>),ROW(D2:D100)-ROW($D$2)+1),ROW($D$2:$D2))} ]

I like this formula a lot and have used it more often, however it has made my file exceedingly slow..

Considering that it takes every small change in the file to compute around 5 mins or more than this the whole purpose seems to be defeated, I have read a lot of posts on Array Vs Non-Array of late by DonkeyOte.

Nested Index / Match Array - Return Value In Column C When Matching Column A And B But With Few More Criteria

Jun 7, 2014

I am trying to use a nested INDEX and MATCH array formula to return the value in column C when matching column A and column B, but with a few more criteria.

The range containing all the data

A
B
C

1
Cat 1
January 1, 2014
John

[Code] ..........

I am looking for the array formula to return the name of the person in column C who is in Cat 1 after the date in column B.

For example;
C7 should return "John" because B7 requests "January 15, 2014", which is after the value in B1
C8 should return "John" because B8 requests "February 15, 2014", which is after the value in B1
C9 should return "Andrew" because B9 requests "August 15, 2014", which is after the value in B4

The best try I had for the formula in C7 was

{(INDEX($A$1:$C$4,MATCH(1,($B$1:$B$4>=B7)*(A$1:$A$4=A7),0),3))}

This brings back "John" as desired in C7, but when copying down the table into C8 and C9 both C8 and C9 return Andrew.

I guess this is due to my ">=" condition in the Match formula and it is returning "Andrew" because "Andrew" is also after the date requested, but I cannot for the life of me work out how to get it to work.

INDEX With Multiple Criteria And Returning Multiple Rows But Only The Two Most Recent

Jun 10, 2013

I have a spreadsheet of prices (raw data), and I need to pull out both the most recent price for each item for a specific customer code for each item, as well as the second most recent price, (essentially the old price), for that customer code for each item.

I have columns for ITEM (code), PTC (Customer Code), PRICE, and EFF (Effective Date). For each item code, there are multiple prices for multiple customers, such as in the linked workbook.

I am currently using the formula, =INDEX(PRICE,MATCH(1,(F2=ITEM)*(G2=PTC),0)) to pull out the last price. This works because the last price is on top based on sorting. What I need is a formula that pulls out the next oldest price for that item/ptc combo. I tried using the SMALL function to no success.
