I am writting code that copys a range and then pastes the values back over the same range, which gets rid of the functions in the cells. I am doing this for multiple sheets. When the code pastes the copied selection back over the same range the code is interrupted by a message box that asks me wether I want to replace the contents of the destination cells or not. I do, how do I get my code to answer yes to this message box?
I have a macro that imports results from a website. I want the macro to continue working but every now and then when the format of the webpage changes I get the message 'Do you want to replace the contents of the destination cells?'. Is there anyway I can get my macro to not show the pop up box and to automatically choose OK (I do want to replace the contents of the destination cells) instead?
Need VBA macro that will copy & paste (Special > AS VALUES) from one of two (Data A & B) sheets based on the contents of a validation cell ($D$4) in a third (Report) sheet? The destination starting cell would be $F$11. ALSO - I'd like to have the Named Ranges "DataAExtract" & "DataBExtract" used in the code (for the COPY region) so I can see an example of how to reflect my actual named ranges in my working file.
The reason for doing this is that the "c.Characters...." lines in my conditional formatting macros (attached) are not working on cells containing formula output (in my working file the Report page is all populated by VLOOKUP results), but the macros run fine on hard-coded values. In my attached workbook, I'd like to have the "NEW" macro for the copy & paste step fire first in the sequence of macros running after the FORM button-click (control located in cell $D$5 of the Report sheet), whether that's by writing a new macro and calling mine before the new one ends, OR by consolidating all of my macros plus the new one into one smooth progression.
With this low-tech approach I can get updated VALUES into the report area once the user selects a data source and a customer on the report sheet. The COPY ranges in my working spreadsheet will update based on the selections made in the report page. I tried recording a macro and then modifying the recorded code to add the "If > Then" functionality I'm looking for, but I'm pretty green when it comes to VBA code and syntax.
I've received an Excel file with the below macro. However, I've made changes in the original file and therefore, the macro isn't working anymore except if I copy paste special the value instead of simply copying it. I would need to change the macro accordingly.
The macro is the following :
Sub CCtosheetwithoutformat() ' ' CCtosheetwithoutformat Macro
I want to prevent other users when pasting data, to overwrite the formatting of the destination cell.
Since, it is a shared file, i don't want to bother the people explaining use paste special.
I want this to happen automatically.
I don't know VB, and I tried copying what I found in the internet for similar codes, and none have worked. I only copied as they said either in Thisworkbook, and this is all I can do.
I need very easily explained if there is something more than just copying the code in VB view.
Is there a way to set the Paste options in Excel to default to "Match Destination Formatting"? Currently the program defaults to "Keep Source Formatting". It would be extremely helpful for the work I am doing to have the default be "Match Destination Formatting" instead. I thought there might be a way to set this under "Tools, Options, Edit," but there is nothing. I am using Excel 2003
I would like to implement specific cell ranges from two specific worksheets each within 33 workbooks (which all have several tabs) into a summary page in a separate workbook.
The cell ranges are going across my spreadsheet in rows and I would like for them to transpose into a columns depending on the data which I have separated by catergory on the summary page. They are all on the same location in each workbook which is separated by country. The cell ranges are E26:P37 and I would like to transpose them and have them put below eachother without overwriting for my format on the summary page, how I can put this together in a macro?
I have a worksheet that I produced from optical character recognition, and there are a lot of funky characters that I need to get rid of. One is a line break or carraige return (I assume it's the same character that I could insert by entering ALT+ENTER). How do I search for this special character to replace it? How do I identify what that invisible character is?
I am looking a macro which should perform below activities
I have a lists of suppliers which needs to cleansed....
1.replace all the special characters with a space
2.replace Corporation with Corp Incorporation with Inc Limited with Ltd Limited partnership/ltd partnership with LP Company with Co ASSC/ASSOC with ASSOCIATION/ASSOCIATES (SEARCH SUPPLIER IN GOOGLE FOR THE CORRECT ONE) MGNT with MANAGEMENT SVCS with SERVICES DEPT with DEPARTMENT Unltd with UNLIMITED Ctr with CENTER UNIV with UNIVERSITY
3. Remove any text, Special characters and numbers after INC,CO, LTD, CORP,LLP, LLC
The macro should when I select any particular column... not restricted to column A
Working on a macro to replace a list of about 20 specific "Special" Characters in excel, and have ran into 6 that will not work.. Following are the characters: ā, č, ć, ř, ş, ż
i am writing a custom copy/paste routine which will paste data from a selection if the cell being pasted to is not locked.
The user will select the text for coping and then launch the routine.
The routine will query for destination cell and then process the paste.
This is my routine so far:
Sub testCopy()
Dim c As Range Dim MyRange As Range Dim Dest As Range
Set MyRange = Selection Set Dest = Application.InputBox(prompt:="Select a cell", _ Title:="Paste Destination", Type:=8)
For Each c In MyRange If Dest.Locked = False Then Dest.Value = c.Value End If 'dest = ? Next c End Sub
What I need to know is how to increment the dest reference so it is in the same 'relative' position from the initial dest that c (from the selection) is in or is there a better way to do this?
Paste can this be set to default to Paste Special Values only ?
I have a sheet with a number of lists validated drop down boxes. The sheet is networked and works fine.
Problem other users as they are entering information into the required cells they are copying and pasting. Then the inevitable occurs they paste data into the wrong cells the validation from the original cell is pasted as well. Is there a way I can set paste special values only to be the default for the full sheet.
I'm creating a Macro to paste a series of formulas from a template in hidden rows above to cells further down in the same worksheet. My code works fine if I set an absolute range as the Destination - here's a portion of it:
Sub TimelineRow150() Dim TimelineMatch As Integer, ProjectPlan As Object TimelineMatch = ActiveCell.Offset(0, -1).Value If TimelineMatch = 26 Then Range("E26:AQ28").Select
[Code]....
I'd like to be able to copy and paste this code to run it multiple times in the same worksheet, (the TimelineMatch variable actually has 26 different options). Is there a way to replace the [Range("E150:AQ152").Select] portion of the code with a range that is relative to the Active Cell? (I'd instruct users that cell E be the Active cell before running the Macro, and E to AQ is still the range I need the copied data to appear.) I've tried using ActiveCell.Offset, but I keep getting an error of Method 'Range of Object' _Global' failed.
I have two workbooks. I am copying cells data from one workbook A to workbook B with macro - pretty easy. Now, after selecting and copying cell data in workbook A and switching to workbook B I want to be able to pause the macro and wait for the user to chose a correct cell where he/she wants to paste the data. After the selection the macro would automatically paste the data in selected cell. Since I am completely newbie any help would be appreciated. Here is the macro I have so far :
Sub CopyVIN() ' ' CopyVIN Macro ' Macro recorded 5/26/2009 by Pacific Coachworks ' Sheets("Sheet1").Select Range("G9:R9").Select Selection.Copy Sheets("For copying VIN").Select Range("A1").Select Selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlPasteValues, Operation:=xlNone, SkipBlanks _ :=False, Transpose:=False Range("A1").Select Application.CutCopyMode = False Selection.Copy Windows("Cami's Production Schedule.xls").Activate ' Here I'd like to have a code for waiting for a user selection and pasting the data automaticlly.
copy content from particular cells in the current sheet to the next available row in another sheet. I need to Paste the Values as the cells I am copying are equations. It was working great until I tried using it again today. For some reason I get the following error:
Run-time error '1004': Unable to get the Select property of the Worksheet class
Here is my code:
Code: Sub CopyCampaignMetrics() Range("A2:E2").Select Selection.Copy Sheets("Sheet2").Select("A" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Offset (1) Selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlPasteValues, Operation:=xlNone, SkipBlanks _ :=False, Transpose:=False End Sub
How would the code be changed below to be Paste Special Value? The numbers copied are changing every few seconds and I want a snapshot of it.
im TheRow As Integer Sheets("Loader").Range("C5:AC5").Copy TheRow = Sheet2.Range("A100").End(xlUp).Offset(1).Row If TheRow < 6 Then TheRow = 6 Sheet2.Cells(TheRow, 3).PasteSpecial If TheRow = 6 Then Range("B6").Value = 0 Else Cells(TheRow, 2) = Cells(TheRow - 1, 2) + 1 / 24 Cells(TheRow, 1).Value = Date ActiveWorkbook.Save LastSoon = Now + 1 / 24 '1 hr from last time Application.OnTime LastSoon, "Capture" 'set up for next hour
Private Sub Workbook_SheetChange(ByVal Sh As Object, ByVal Target As Range) 'If you have any worksheet to exclude If Sh.Name = "Sheet2" Then Exit Sub With Target If Len(.Value) Len(Trim(.Value)) Then
MsgBox "You just entered a leading space character in" & vbCrLf & _ " cell " & .Address(0, 0) & "." & vbCrLf & vbCrLf & _ "If you intend to delete the value in that or any cell, " & vbCrLf & _ "please press the Delete button on your keyboard.", 16, " No leading spaces allowed !!"
Application.EnableEvents = False .Value = Trim(.Value) Application.EnableEvents = True End If End With End Sub When I tried to Copy>Paste Special > Formats or Values of more than One row this line highlights
If Len(.Value) Len(Trim(.Value)) Then That is, if I select C3:Q3, Copy, then select C10:C15 and try to do a Paste Special that is when it gives me an error 13: Type mismatch.
If I just select C10 and do the Paste Special, it's just fine.
I am trying to write a VBA code which will add any figure (say X) to the visible cells in the selected range. I am mentioning the visible part becuase my data might be filtered and thus. So far I have been able to figure out the following code(by recording a macro and then going behind the scenses to see the code):
Sub Add_X() Selection.SpecialCells(xlCellTypeVisible).Select Selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlPasteAll, Operation:=xlAdd, SkipBlanks:= _ False, Transpose:=False[/color] End Sub
The problem is that how can (if possible) I can pass a parameter to the above code (which will be X; as explained above). There might be many possible solutions??? However one that comes to mind is that when I selected a range of cells and then run my code, a dialog box should pop-up and ask for a # and then then take that # to add it to the visible cells of the selected range.
I have a little bit of problem with lookup function. When i paste values from another worksheet (paste special, values) in a cell which is lookup value i get #N/A. These values are numbers. When i put '7 for example i get the values i want from lookup table. I have a lot of these cells and its tedious job to put ' in front of every value. Is there a quicker solution?
I have a macro that copies the main report sheet in my workbook. The point of the macro is to get a copy of the report data without allowing anyone to see the formulas/data behind it - when it pastes, it pastes only the values in the tables and then copies the charts, deletes the live ones, and pastes only the images back on the sheet. The macro works on my computer and my partner's computer, but not on anyone else's. It stops at this point:
During the execution of some code I come to a point where the properties of a range of cells needs to be converted to numeric (is at that point text). Normally I do that by adding a 1 in an cell nearby and use the copy/paste special method.
I was wondering if I can do that in a different way. Is it possible to define a MultiplyFactor as 1, and use this in paste special part.
I've got a sheet which has two column headings - Resources and Cost. I have another sheet which has the calculations for both of these. They are in cells H24 and D29 of the second sheet. I want to have a macro on the second sheet that if I click it, it will paste special these two figures (values only so no formulae), into the active cell on the first sheet. This is the code I've got so far but every time I run the macro it just pastes into the same two cells in the first sheet.
