Pin / Password For Digital Signatures / Initials In Excel
May 29, 2014
I have QC checklist with a cell at the bottom for the user's initials. We have 8 users, and I would like to create a way that each user can enter their pin and have their initials come up in the cell. Ideally, there would be no way to the other users to know each other's pins or find out in the spreadsheet. Do you think it is do-able using VBA and how they would approach this?
I've digitally signed a macro in Excel, where I'm sending mail from using outlook, but I can't seem to get Outlook to recognise the certificate in outlook, even though both programs have my name as a trusted publisher...... so still getting the "A program is automatically trying to send mail on your behalf" Pop up.
How to get outlook to recognise the certificate on the macro that I'm running from excel?
The main issue being it is sending roughly 50 separate emails, and to wait five seconds and manually have to click 'yes' for each one is not really desirable!
An application I use at work exports names in a first name-last name format. At this point I have a list of about 315 names in this format. Is there a way I can convert these names to a last name-first name format? I need to export these data on a daily basis, so I'll need to perform this conversion every day. I did a search for this, but didn't find anything.
I'm new to the forums, though I've solved a couple of my problems by lurking here. I'm currently having a problem with a worksheet I've been working on at work. I'm not very experienced in Exel and have inherited a worksheet that keeps track of the machines we do maintenance on during the year. What I have now is a spreadsheet with columns alternating between initials and date, and rows with the machine names all the way down. It looks similar to this :
Name of machine Initials date initials date initials date initials date etc. machine 1 machine 2 machine 3 machine 4 ... machine 121
I'd like to keep this format, but we need to keep track of who does what within a certain week, which means I need to count the number of instances of an initial, then compare it with the date in the column next to it, which I don't think would be a problem with just two columns, but I'm having problems wrapping my brain around how to do so with 20-30 columns. I'm using date ranges in some of my calculation formulas, which I think necessitates the date being in a separate column than the text.
I have 2 columns of Surnames and Initials and I am trying to concatenate an initial (if required) with a surname or return a “blank” if the cell(s) is empty, in other words in cell AC20 I have a surname Smith and in AG20 an initial A which I only enter into the cell if there are identical surnames but when the cells are blank I wish to return a blank not a zero.
I have tried =IF( COUNTBLANK(AC20:AG20)=2,"",AG20&""&AC20) and =IF(AG20="",AC20,IF(AC20>"",AG20&" "&AC20)) but the first one won’t return the initial and the last one works but both return a zero when blank.
I am looking to create a formula to get the initials of a name, where the the last name is listed first, followed by a comma. Now, the names could be full names or initials.
So, it could be something like: Smith, John R - result would be JRSSmith, John Robert - result would be JRSSmith, John Robert Michael - result would be JRMS There were similar formulas that I found here, but these only got the last letter of the last name - in this case the following formulas would have resulted (with the above examples) in: JTS or the last example with Michael, JLS.
I just bought a database and I would say at least 20% of the names in the database have an initial after the first name. I need to have a clean first and last name list. Is there a formula that can delete the initials? I am working on a variable data print project that uses their first name in the message so I cannot have their middle initial.
So like in one example her first name is listed as Susan F. I want it to just be Susan. Another example is T. Jones as a last name, I want it to be just Jones.
Can anyone tell me if its possible to input some ones initials into a cell and when you hit enter, their full name is displayed instead of the initials:
ie input FB and the same cell displays Fred Bloggs?
I have a workbook that is on a share drive. Me and two other users modify the content of this sheet on a daily basis. We don't want to have to click "enable macros" each time we open the workbook. I digitally signed it. Then I went to Becky's office and had her install my certificate. She did, then we made some changes and it gave her this message, "You have modified a signed project. You do not have the correct key to sign this project the signature will be discarded."
I want to add digital certificate in my XL2000 file. i created self certificate and add in the file but when i save that file give me a following error
" There was a Problem with digital certificate. VBA Could not be signed. The signature will be discarded."
I want to add Digital Certificate or sign in my file.
I have a spreadsheet with macro's in and everytime the user opens it that annoying security box opens and asks to allow/disable macro's. I believe it is due to a digital certificate. How to i obtain one, and if i do get one will it stop thie popup occuring for other users on different computers or just me????
I'm trying to apply the digital signature automatically to excel files(.xls,.xlt)(from Excel VBA editor-->Tools-->digital signature--->Apply signature(i need to apply this settings through code)).
scenarios:
1. I could apply digital signature for .exe,.dll,.cab files through VB6 code(using capicom dll) and also i can achieve this to Word document by using signature object. But this object not supporting in Excel.
2. I tried also like this, Recrod a macro--->Apply digital signature from VBA Editor (tools-->digital Signature) but no code has been generated.Again i tried this in another way like, Record macro-->Tools(from Excel)-->Options-->Security-->Digital Signatures--->Add.but here also i couldn't achieve this.
3. i tried using Application object like executing menus through code(Application. commandbars("Tools").controls("Options").controls("security")) here also i strucked up.
I've verisign digital certificate with pfx file.....
Can someone confirm that the Microsoft Self Certification (digital signature) for VBA in Excel would not solve the problem of the prompt screen. In other words, unless the user has selected your profile as acceptable, the prompt screen will still appear? To not get the prompt screen, I have to get it appoved by Verisign, but they are not free.
I have a macro which has a digital certificate. When the macro runs i want to somehow readin the expiration date of the certificate and make sure its still valid before running the macro.
I would like to use Excel as a measurement device. I have an inexpensive digital microscope that will store sequentially numbered pictures at the click of a button. I am then going to import the most recent picture into Excel and place a grid of transparent rectangles over the picture to serve as my ruler. Would it be possible to continuous update the Excel workbook with the output from the digital microscope?
I have an excel file connected to a digital reader. Values are inputted to cells. What I can't figure out is the formula to automatically insert the values into the desired cells.
In short. First value goes to A1, 2nd value goes to B1. There's a formula (=A1-B1) in C1. The 3rd value from the reader should go to A2. The 4th value to B2. The 5th value to A3 and so on. I believe that I should be putting a formula into B1,2,3..n. What I can't figure out is that formula.
Is it possible for Excel file to be open with 2 password? Like, if password is equal to "Password1" the file can be edited but if password is equal to "Password2" the file will be open as read only, if so, VBA code.
We had an Excel worksheet that is used everyday suddenly pop up with protection. I have used protection before, but this one never had a password. We put in every known password we use, but none worked. I resigned to re-typing the worksheet, then, in between Friday night, and Saturday noon, when most of the office is out, a different Excel worksheet has the same problem. We are using Excel 97.
I know how to protect a worksheet with a password so that no one can amend the contents or view the formulas in the cells. And then we can un-protect the worksheet by clicking on the "review" tab in excel 2007 and so on. But recently I came across an excel sheet which was password protected and my query is that the "Review" tab was greyed out. What kind of protection was this that clicking on "review" tab option is also unavailable. And how does these kind of sheets get unlocked then.
I read somewhere that password of a protected excel sheet is located in the sheet itself , hidden somewhere. So , it can be located by some "curious" ones.
Second question is , how can we find that password and prevent anyone from detecting it?
