I have a base list of numbers on a spreadsheet that represent specific values. For example, Column A has a list from cell 1 to 20 that contains a group of different numbers that all represent credits. Column B also has a list with different groups of numbers that represent debits. Each month I receive a report with a large list of numbers that contain credits and debits. I sort the list and use my base list as a reference to differentiate what groups of numbers are debits and which ones are credits.
I am hoping there is an easier way to do this. My question is, is it possible to use the base list that I have as a template so that the next time I receive a report, I can just copy and paste the numbers onto the template and have them somehow formatted or programmed to reflect their correct code of either debit or credit?
I have a template file for ordering trafolyte and steel plates. I have added macros to this template file. The existing macros do the following (shortly described):
Macro 1: clears order Macro 2: update order date + send a read only file to the supplier of plates + save a read only copy of the file into one of three folders acc to info in one of the cells.
It's the Macro 2 I want to edit.
I want to add a "function" which copy a selection of data.column A to N from row 12 to 548 but only the rows where there is a value in column A.
Row 1 to 11 includes standard order info and Macro buttons. Row 11 includes the heading for order data.
For everytime someone click on the Macro 2 button in the template file, I want the selection to be paste into the first "available" row in a "Total list" file.
The "Total list" file may have to be open (or a function to open, paste selection and then close the "Total list" file may be added)
File and Folder info:
To simplify suggestions, the following file and path info can be used (I can change to the correct later): Template file name: template_order.xlsm Template file location: \servershared emplate
Total list file name: total_list.xlsx Total list file location: \servershared otal
Selection info:
The template file exists of a "general order info area" A1:N10 The column heading for order data is located at A11:N11 The selection to be copied is A12:N550 - But only rows where column A includes data (not empty). (If the spesific order consists of 14 plates than there will be item no 1-14 in column A and I then I want to copy A12:N25 (row 25 will be item 14).
When I try to use record macro it looks like it only records what's happening in the template file - It doesn't record the pasting in the total list.
Currently I have a database in an Excel template. After a user creates a new workbook from the template, a macro button on sheet 1 brings up a window (a userform) to allow selection of items from the database sheet. The item selected is entered on sheet 1 by means of VLookup. That works fine, but to edit the database correctly it is necessary to open the template itself. This is not a user-friendly method.
I figure the best way to solve this dilemma is to separate the template from the database. That is, make the database sheet into a workbook. This I've done. Here's the problem: What code is there that links the list box in the userform (of the template) with the closed database workbook? Is it even possible? If a file path type code is required, it may work on my computer, but when I use my template and database on another computer, the code doesn't work.
Another problem, and similar is this: I'd like to be able to have a macro button that opens the database from the new workbook (which was created from the template) in order to edit the database. If having a template seems to be my problem, I must have it since each workbook created from it is a different project.
how to create a copy of my employee attendance template. Is there a way to create a copy of the template by entering an employee name in the "name" cell of the template and it automatically renames the sheet that employee name and also saves or recopies the template for use with the next employee?
The easiest way I can describe the scenario I am trying to create, is to use a company list of personnel (my index) and to generate a time-sheet workbook per person based on a pre-populated template. This time-sheet is saved as the persons name and has the persons name entered into cell D:10
I have a workbook which contains two worksheets;
1) An Index sheet which contains a list of names that I wish to use in Q16 downwards (note the length of this list will vary each time I run this)
2) A "template" sheet which I wish to duplicate in new workbooks
3) A second "data" sheet that I wish to copy across in new workbooks
I need a macro that will take the "template" and "data" sheets and copy it into a new workbook, renaming each new workbook to each name in my Index sheet. I also want that same Name to be copied into cell reference D:10 of the "template" each time.
The end result is that I should have a series of new files generated and saved which are named the same as the Index list, with both the "Template" sheet and the "Data" sheet present, with the cell D:10 pre-populated with the Name provided in the "Template" sheet.
I Have a number(30+) of excel files based off of one template. I have since updated the template, thus making the the old ones obsolete. Is there a way to update the older files to use the new template without having to copy and paste the addition's row by row column by column?
None of the additions to the template will change the placement of existing data, nor will it change the data itself. It will however add Values to cells that were previously empty.
This may be a bit of a silly question but any assistance would be much appreciated, as I cannot figure out where I am going wrong:
Dim RRR As Range Set RRR = Range("c3").End(xlDown).Select
What I am trying to do is to create a dynamic range called 'RRR' so that everytime the macro is run, it makes sure that all the data is selected in the column.
1) I created a one-sheet template, and a new workbook from that sheet. When in that new workbook I go Insert>Sheet>Other and select the aforementioned one-sheet template, Excel crashes, or if not, it adds the new sheet, but then no longer saves the workbook and starts producing error messages (like: "An unexpected error has ocurred. AutoRecover has been disabled for this session of Excel.").
1a) Now, the complication is that this is working when I do a model operation with a generic template sheet. So I checked the template that I actually want to form sheets after, and Excel finds no errors, nor does it's name contain any unusual characters. What could Excel prevent from working with a template like this?
2) How do I edit a template? The only way I can find is to manually find the spot in finder, open, and save with the same name. But: if I do that, the documents basing on that template don't change accordingly. If they're intended not to, the whole template procedure makes no sense. I could then just as well copy a file. — I've been searching for tutorials on that, but google doesn't even return a single result on Excel "edit template". Therefor my very basic question here.
I have been trying to build code and I am a newbie when it comes to this.
I have a sheet that is user entered (Criteria). I need to build a macro/code that says if they choose "Yes" to any of the Products on the criteria sheet, then copy all rows that have an X in them that are in the corresponding column on the Master Template. To make it even more complicated I only want to copy 4 of the columns (ID, Task, Share with Client and Accountable).
I know if they choose multiple columns then I could have duplicate rows, but once all the rows are copied I was going to build a remove duplicates macro. However, if there is anyway of preventing duplicates with the original.
I've attached 2 test files, one is the database master file containing the projects (each row represents a project, unique reference number in column A) and the other is the blank template file i'm hoping to export data into and then save down with the naming convention "column A_column B.xlsx"
Kept the test files simple but would need to modify any code to apply to much larger database consisting of many more fields etc.
I have created a userform with text boxes and a list box. I have a few questions. First for the list box. I got the information for my list box through the list box example sheet2!A1:A1000. Is there any easier way ? Next I would like to create a New Command button to create a new record. I decided to just do a clear all textboxes, option buttons ect.. to clear, is there an easier way ? I seem to be looping sort of way when I get to txtissue.Value = "" it than goes to txtIssue_Change()
I need to compare dates in excel (VBA programming). How can I do to Compare two dates. If I wanna know the difference between to dates (days, moths and years)
I have an excel sheet which has 5 columns & 5 rows.I would like to transpose values in 3rd column to 5th column .But after running my code I am not being able to get the deired output. rectify the error for me?
Attached is my worksheet. I need to program column C to adjust the value in column A according to the rules set in table J2:K17, but ONLY if the value in column B = mens. If the value in B does not equal mens, then leave the C cell blank. I've manually populated column C to show the end result that I'm looking for.
I tried a simple =IF(ISNUMBER(SEARCH("Small",A2)),"S",""), etc., but I can't figure out how to incorporate the additional condition that would let the cell return a value ONLY when a condition in B is also met.
NBVC helped me with a similar request previously, but with that formula, if the condition wasn't met, the cell returned "#N/A" instead of being blank.
I have a list of invoice #'s on a sheet named "Temp Sheet".
I have a VBA macro that created a new tab for each entry and named it the invoice #. So basically the vba code created a new tab ( based on the number of invoice #'s on my list ), and named each tab an invoice number. So if I had a list of 10 invoice #'s, named S1-S10, the vba code created 10 tabs, named S-1, S-2,. S-3.....
Now to my question. I have a template sheet I want to copy from ( "Template" ), and select any sheet that starts with "S", and copy/paste this template to.
I been trying to create stuff that will make my work life real easy. I need creating a program that will send an email to different recipients. I created a spreadsheet the contains different information. When a persons name is selected on Column D, excel/outlook will generate an email to that person containing the info on Column A to D.
And then as soon as the work is processed and column G is filled, outlook will generate an email back to who created the requests column A.
I have some code below which looks at values added between a set range of cells. This works OK.
My problem is when i have to change the cell as it removes the background colour already set to certain columns ie Columns I, J, P, Q, W, X, AD, AE (these are coloured a light green).
The other cells in the range have no colour and so the code below works with no problem.
I'm building a macro thats copying 4 rows of data at a time from a spreadsheet (has 1500 rows of data total) and transposing it to a master spread sheet. There are blank rows in between each entry (the data source I'm using isn't clean), so how can I either have the macro jump to the first row it finds with a value, copy rows until it stops finding a value, paste+transpose into a new document and then repeat the process throughout the document.
If thats too complicated, a macro that finds rows based on a formula would work as well. E.g. Start at row 5, copy+paste+transpose 5-8, start at row 11 (5+6), copy + paste+transpose 11-14, start at row 17 (x+6) ...etc... Here's the code I have developed thus far:
I'm trying to set up a way to format column widths and row heights in a macro (so that it can read a value from a cell and format a column to that width). I've used the code below which can be repeated for the number of rows and columns desired below
However, I want to be able to do this on a workbook that could potentially have 40+ sheets. Is there a way of applying this code to operate over the whole workbook rather than just one sheet at a time?
I am trying to set up a "diet log" for my nephew to track his eating habits for a school project. I am trying to make the "total" section of the attached spread sheet auto calculating depending on the information placed in the "breakfast / lunch / dinner / snack" catagories. I have two worksheets in the file. The first being the preferred method of a single cell and seperating the items using only a ",". The second sheet has a little bit different lay out which I don't think will work as nicely.
Honestly, I am not sure if this will even be possible, but I figured I would try here as a final resort. Currently there are just some sample foods in there as I will let him fill in the actual workbook for his use.
I'm new to Excel and I'd like to know since it's more organized are the scripts better than other programming language scripts such as Ajax, JavaScript, Java FX, etc.
I need to write a VBA code which will read the CSV files from a folder by opening the CSV files , then copy the contents of csv file into another EXCEL template already present in the same xls template.
The XLS template has tabs named like "UAT2D" and i want the csv file data to paste in the particular xls tab which is blank initially. But what is happening my code open the required CSV , copy the data and insert the CSV into the xls template by creating the new tab. see the code A below
We have huge restrictions on hours, and to avoid inputting, then revising the schedule into my companies scheduling module, then having to change it again when the boss looks it over, it's just confusing.
Anyway, I'll get to the point, I want to add the hours up in a row of cells for the week sunday through saturday. Like so:
1100-2100 | 1100-2100 | OFF | 1100-2100 etc... I want it to add these cells hours up and have the total end up in the 8th cell.
Is this possible? I am a new excel user, or at least, setting up my own sheet.
I am creating a large workbook using the same worksheet "form" over and over. How can I use a shortcut or someother method to add the form to a new sheet without having to copy and paste from the last sheet?
