View 9 RepliesI am trying to format all cells on all sheets (hidden or otherwise) as "Locked" so when the sheets are protected the user can't see the formulas. This macro individually selects every sheet in the book and applys the formatting. Is there a way to modify this code to accomplish the same thing without having it actually select every sheet? The only reason it is an issue is that after running the macro you end up on the last sheet in the book.

Is there a way users can be prompted for a password when a tab is clicked? if wrong or no password is entered, then show sheet 1 only.
1 main sheet, and 10 sub sheets. Any of the 10 tabs that get clicked need to be prompted for a password, each different.
I have a payroll spreadsheet that is going to be placed on our network server. My boss wants me to have this spreadsheet to be protected so that one person can get in, add hours and commission, and save it up on the server. Then another person can go in to that spreadsheet, open it up to get the info and use it to cut the checks. What my problem is that the person who is making the changes does not need to see the pay rate or the total dollar amount columns, but the person who gets the data out does. Neither one of these people really know how to hide and unhide columns in Excel, so I need it to have when one password opens it, the pay rate and total pay columns are hidden, but the other password will show those columns.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI would like to be able to password protect each sheet in a workbook and still be able to use the macros/form control (button). Below is the code that I'm using and the code that I've attempted to add to it to protect it.
Current Code:
[Code] ....
Code added for protection but not working:
[Code] ....
I've added this code to both the beginning and the end of my code; however, I'm getting a "400" error when I try to use the form control (button) when the sheet is protected. Is there something that I'm doing incorrectly?
I have a productivity report that is posted on an intranet. I only want the members of my deptartment to see the productivity results. To accomplish this, I need help creating a VBA so the names in column B will only populate if an employee enters his/her 6 digit employee ID correctly in cell B1. If the ID entered is not listed in column B of the "Rep ID Master" sheet, then an error message should pop up stating something similiar to, "Incorrect ID. Please Enter Your 6 Digit Employee ID". Also, Since I don't want the entire company to see our dept's productivity numbers, I want the VBA to prevent the associate from saving changes to the sheet, but still allow me to do so--preferably via a password.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a nested IFs statement that looks at a range of cells between 2 tabs within the same worksheet, determines if there is a value of 1 in ANY of those cells, and if there is, to multiply the value of yet another cell by 1 in a cell on the second tab. So, if 1 is a value in any cell of Tab 1 cells C82 to C86, then in Tab 2 cell B21, multiply 1 by the value in 'Tab 1 Cell H5'.
I've tried this =IF(('LM fundamentals'!C82>=1), ('LM fundamentals'!C83>=1), ('LM fundamentals'!C84>=1), ('LM fundamentals'!C85>=1), ('LM fundamentals'!C86>=1), 'Order Information'!$B$21!=(1* 'LMfundamentals'!$H$5!))
I even tried a vlookup, having given the cell range in Tab 1 a name, etc. But I have little skill with logic statements, apparently.
I have a summary page that includes the titles for each tab within the excel 2003 workbook. I want to use the names of the tabs in the summary page and create it into a formula to lookup fixed cells within the various tabs. Sorry for not uploading an excel doc but I was at work earlier and the thread did not load for some reason, so I am reposting it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a list of cities, counties, and schools with dates for each account. I want to put these into a workbook with tabs along the bottom for each one, then I want to be able to select all of the accounts that have a Jan 1st effective date and show them on a list in the first worksheet.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a spreadsheet with multiple sheets, which can vary from project to
project, and they all have the same center sections of the headers. Is there
any way to automate the filling in of all these headers based on the first
sheet?
From a master (data entry) spreadsheet of work projects, I'd like to automatically create a tab for each individual contributor that lists all projects they are involved with. The thing is that being a contributor can mean being the lead, assisting with, or being the technician on the project (all columns in the master). To make the individual tabs easier to read, it'd be great to have that tab's contributor name in red, wherever it happens to fall in the various columns.
I've created an example that's a little simpler than reality - in real life there would be 20 tabs for the individual contributors and instead of 3 "Assist" columns there would be 20 columns.
I am interested in printing an entire workbook in one shot with multiple tabs, where each tab is one page. I would like to print the tabs such that the first tab has the number '1' in the footer, the second tab has '2' etc. And I don't want to go into each tab and type the number in the footer.
Does anyone know how to easily make this happen?
I would like to combine 2 tabs into one spreadsheet. I was not able to do so, because it exceeds the max rows allowed in excel. I have installed powerpivots but not sure how to combine data using powerpivots.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to protect a certain range of cells in a worksheet from within Access.
My code is below:
Dim objExcel As Excel.Application
Dim objWB As Excel.Workbook
Dim objWS As Worksheet
Dim intColumn As Integer
Dim intRow As Integer
Dim intRecords As Integer
Set objExcel = Excel.Application
objWS.Unprotect
objWS.Protection.AllowEditRanges.Add Title:="Classified", Range:=Range("$A$2:$D$65536"), Password:="".........................
I have set all cells in a worksheet to be protected. I then selected specific cells that are not protected. The problem is that cells A11:D29 except C13:C14 do not follow the protection rules in that I can edit them (but when I right click, I cannot format, just like they're protected). These cells are NOT part of the group that was selected to be unprotected. When I unprotect the sheet and check the protection setting for these oddball cells, it shows as protected. All other protected cells do not allow entry (which is what I want).
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have attached a document paralleling a document I am working on. The dollar amount in each spreadsheet represent sales. I have entered in values into the candy, soda, and chips spreadsheet. I have also linked values for candy into the total spreadsheet. My question is can I somehow type something or drag the formula down to populate the other cells in the total spreadsheet?
The idea I am thinking but which I don't know how to implement is to list all the items (as in column G) and list all of the relevant cells (e.g. B1 in the Candy spreadsheet) as in columns H and I (Note that all items will have the same cells but the cells will have different values...e.g. all three items have a cell B1 and B2 in their spreadsheet but these cells contain different values). I then try and fail to create a formula in cell B3 of the Total spreadsheet. I am trying to create a formula of the following nature:
='(Spreadsheet Name From Column G)'!(Cell Name From Columns H and I)
The Second half of the formula doesn't really concern me (i.e. the cell name from column H and I). However I am perplexed as to how to achieve the goal in the first parentheses above.
I have noticed that the basic problem I have is a common one on this forum with different varibles for different people. I have attached a dummy copy of the spreadsheet that I am using.
I need to copy cell information for one spreadsheet to one of 2 other spreadsheets depending on a dropbox condition. The master spreadsheet is the Issues spreadsheet, and depending on whether the user chooses Transferred Complaints or Transferred Offences (in Column K) I need to transfer certain cells to the Complaints or Offences spreadsheets.
The information I need to transfer from Issues is: .....
I want to utilise an artificial protection by keeping a cells value constant even though it can be selected, deleted, edited etc.
Is this possible? I want to make a sheet where the cursor isnt visible except on certain sets of 4 cells.
My method being leave the 4 cell sets unlocked and lock everything else and then protect the sheet.
This means only the 4 cell sets are selectable/editable but I only want them to be selected (as this triggers events) but I dont want their values to be changeable. The values will always be 0,1,2,3
I have hidden columns on a sheet.
I protect the sheet with a password before I send out the file to a 3rd party. However, it seems that all a user has to do is select the sheet cells, copy and paste onto another sheet or file. The protection is nonexistant and the user is able to unhide the columns.
Am I missing something?
Is there a way to "really" protect a sheet so that a user is unable to unhide confidiential columns? Preferably a method without VBA code.
When unprotected my spreadsheet is working fine (apart from the fact that my users can do anything anywhere!) However, as soon as I protect it I am getting a mouse cursor that looks like its hovering over a clickable button? This is odd as the area that its hovering over contains unlocked cells?
Then when I click one of the unlocked cells I get a message box that tells me that Excel cannot locate a macro? Its as though there is a macro being invoked by a click on the screen almost anywhere? as allowing full access only to certain ranges of cells is a pre-req for my project. my file is double the allowable attachable size so I have not attached it.
I have the following code from a form. It works just fine copying named ranges from one sheet to another. The probloem now is that I don't want to copy the characteristic of the formating or whether they are protected or not. The originating spreadsheets have cells that are protected. I am trying to copy those values over to the new sheet and paste their values or formulas but not their formatting (background color) or the fact that some of the cells are 'locked'. I want the new sheet to have the values and formulas but not the be lock for the user. Is this possible with the current way I do the code or do I have to rewrite it? How would you approach this?
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()
Import_Data_Form.Hide
Run "NPA"
Set b = Selection
ad = b.Address
' Local Variables
Dim wkbDataFile As Workbook
' Let user select source datafile
Call UserSelectFile_WOpen(wkbDataFile)
If wkbDataFile Is Nothing Then
MsgBox "User did not select a workbook to open"
Exit Sub
End If
Application. ScreenUpdating = False
Set wb = ThisWorkbook
Application.DisplayAlerts = False
I'm protecting a spreadsheet with Excel 2000. For that i used the Excel functionality : Data -> " Validation"
Unfortunately, I can not protect the all sheet or workbook (Requirement). So even if the cells are protected by "Validation", any user can delete the cells using the key DELETE or BACKSPACE on the keyboard !
VBA Macro (which could be activate at each change on the sheet for example...) ? or if it's possible to avoid cells deleting with the "Validation" in the Excel Data menu ?
If it's a macro, it would do :
1 ) see if a user is pushing DELETE or BACKSPACE on the keyboard
2 ) see if the cell contains formulas
3 ) if yes, make a box appears to say that is not possible to delete this cell
4 ) return on the Excel sheet without changes
I recieve an error :
Run-time error '50289':
Can't perform operation since the project is protected.
When i try and run my code.
The code does add parts to modules and workbook events, but I need the code to be protected.
I am working on a macro that copies tabs from the spreadsheet the macro (button) is located in, creates a new book for them, and then pastes values so that no formulas still exist. The problem I am having is with named ranges. The named ranges do not reference the new sheet, but rather the old spreadsheet. This is fine because the new file is solely for presentation, however, one macro (which selects print ranges based on user selected checkboxes) tries to reference the old spreadsheet once it runs. I would like the macro that I currently have working, to also make this macro in the NEW spreadsheet so that it can still highlight the correct print area when used. The macro does not reference the name of the workbook at any point, it is purely "Range("ai10") type references so I don't understand why it is trying to open the old sheet back up.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI do have a file in excel with total 9 tabs. The last tab, has some formulas, which is taking data from tab 3 to 8 and calculates something. Tabs 3 to 8 are identical, (same data inputs from different departments). When I will distribute the file to some colleagues, they will need to add some tabs in between tabs 3 and 8, depending on their needs.
I want that in the formulas in the last tab 9, the data from the tabs entered additionally, is taken into consideration. How I can define the range of tabs, so that tab 9 takes then the data from all the tabs in that range, even if tabs are added in between?
I need a formula to add cells between tabs
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to get Excel (2007) to change the colour of tabs to match other tabs in the workbook
Using this code I get the colour code of the current tab
Code:
x = ActiveSheet.Tab.ColorIndex
But when I use this value in a procedure like this:
Code:
ActiveSheet.Tab.ColorIndex = x
The tab is a different colour!
Let me explain this as best I can:
I have an excel file with multiple tabs on it. Each tab has the exact same format with different numbers. On the last page I want to add cells from each tab and have the sum go to a cell on the last tab.
I've created a simple "app" within excel (It's a suggestion box), something that has a form on one sheet, and stores the data entered on it on a second, locked and hidden sheet. This way people I work with can open the form from the shared drive, fill in their suggestions, then close it. I can then view them on the second sheet.
For aesthetics, one of the cells is merged across 3. Most of the other cells don't need to be so wide, but this one does.
One of the users has mentioned that they can't copy the text from that cell without getting a [Tab][Tab][Linebreak]. The line break, I'm assuming, is because it's the end of a cell. I'm assuming the tabs are because it's merged across 3 cells.
Can this be corrected and the tabs be removed? I don't see a Worksheet_BeforeCopy method.
