I am trying to reference a cell on another worksheet, the cell is formatted to be a date. when i put in the following formula =Sheet2!A1 and i don't input a date into A1 on sheet 2 the cell containing the formula shows the date 00/01/1900, is there any way of stopping this showing, ideally the cell would be blank until I inputted a date into A1 on sheet 2
I have a column of data that requires the cell to be blank if the value is 00/01/1900. The data is linked to another cell. IE: cell E3 is linked to cell $D$3 The cell is formatted for dates in the format shown.

Currently column B is formatted to Date and simply has =A+84 and will display a date 3 months in future. However if there is no date in column A, then column B displays a default 1900 date.. Is there a way of making this blank if there is no date in col A?
I am working with an Excel file that was created in 2001, has not been updated since.
In the first column on the first tab, is a date field, starting from 12/31/2000.
I try to change this to 12/31/2008, and I get the return date of 01/00/00. When I select the cell, the formula bar indicates 12/31/2008, but the cell shows 01/00/00.
If I change it back to 12/31/2000, it is back to normal. I tried to enter 2/3/2009 in another cell, converting to date format, and the same thing: 0/1/00 (Jan 0, 1900)
This is a US date format.
I currently have to display a large amount of data on a separate report. I have a master sheet which has columns and cells linked to another sheet, then a further sheet which has cells linked to the master sheet. The problem I am getting is when I link some of the date columns using a formula in the 3rd sheet, as this is looking at a cell that has another formula in on the other sheet it is displaying a date of 00/01/1900 if the value is zero, is there any easier way of getting the data to just display a blank as this is messing up the database it is being exported

In this case the Vlookup is referring to an apparently blank cell with no formula in it. I googled 1/0/1900 and saw a few references that said formatting a cell with zero in it as a date would cause this result, but there is no zero in this case.
I have a old spreadsheet file which I opened up in Excel 2003. It has a few worksheet tabs. 2 worksheet tabs seem identical. I will reference it as Worksheet1 and Worksheet2. In Worksheet1, I enter a date i.e. 1/25/2008 in any cell. It enters as inputted. But in Worksheet2, I enter the same date i.e. 1/25/2008, it appears as 1/0/1900. No matter what date I enter in Worksheet2 in any cell, it always appears as 1/0/1900. Now when I look at cell in the formula toolbar, it sees as a Math Formula meaning, it looks like this: =1/25/2008. How do I correct this Worksheet to recognize any date inputted, not to see it as a Math Formula?

For example, Cell A1 = 1/24/13 18:45:22
I want the new cells to only have the time, but have the seconds removed (and not simply hide the seconds). This is because I'll need to run Conditional Formatting to find every cell with a similar time - but I only need similar times within the same minute...it doesn't matter if the seconds are off.
The new cell should just be A1 = 18:45
The real reason I need this is because I need to find every entry that has the same time (with hour and minutes), which I figure I'd use conditional formatting for. My problem is that many entries have the same time but the seconds are off.
Example:
1/22/13 12:23:11
1/24/13 18:45:22
1/24/13 18:45:36
1/26/13 22:33:41
In this example, I'd want Conditional Formatting to highlight cell A2 and A3 because they have the same time of 18:45 (not including the seconds). I figured the best way to go about this would be to remove the date and remove the seconds, and run the search that way. However, any way to accomplish goal without deleting the date and seconds would be just as useful.
I have a data sheet which I need to filter in some way with multiple criteria. For example
I have a sheet called Training which has 4000 rows of data. Column F is labelled Cost ID and under this column I have 400 different IDs of which I need to see data for 155 out of the 400.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm an accountant, so I've always dealt with relatively current dates. Now I'm trying to do some geneology work, and I find that I can't put in a date prior to 1900. For example if I input "3/5/1870", it comes out as text. If I input "=date(1870,3,5)", it returns 3/5/3770 -adding 1900 years to my date. I don't need to do anything mathmatically with it, but it would be nice to have it return "March 5, 1870".

I need a macro, if possible, to remove the seconds in a date/time string.
I can format the cells to remove the seconds, but the actual value still contains the seconds. For example:
The cell shows 9/24/2013 19:21 but the formula bar shows 9/24/2013 7:21:17 PM.
I need to remove the seconds so I can us the time in an averageifs formula as a criteria.
I would like a macro because I want to do other manipulations of the spreadsheet with the idea of importing the data at some point into a database.
If I can automate it, or at least decrease tha amount of time I use to get the data in the correct format.
I have a spreadsheet which was formatted from VB code. Within the sheet there are four date columns where some dates show as 00/01/1900 (due to them having '0' in at the time of running the code). I am trying to run some code to blank out all cells showing the 00/01/1900 date, but the code just isn't touching it. There are some blanks in the list that I am using, and I need to the blanks to stay as blanks in the sheet that I am indexing to, however they are displayng as 00/01/1900.
I merged about 15 adresslists from media contacts to one excel list. Each list had a name i.e. music, health, theater, etc. and the same logic in colums. I added a few columns and have 1 large list now.
As some journalists write about music & health & theater, architecture, etc. they are listed up to 10 times in the new list now. But the "genres" from the original list i.e. music, health, theater, etc. are in different columns. Some of the lines have empty fields (i.e. no address or mail)
All I want to do is have one line with all the information of all 10 lines in it, merged, dupes removed:

I am trying to create a macro that will copy a sheet, move it to the end and rename it it with the next date of the value of the date in a particular cell.
I can do the first part no problem, however I am stuck with naming the sheet with the date which is the next day from the date value in a cell.
i.e. If the date value in A1 of the copied and moved sheet is 11 Nov 2009 I need the next sheet to be called 12 Nov 2009 in that format (dd mmm yyyy)

I have a workbook that contains 14 worksheets. I have been looking for vba code that hides 3 of these sheets according to a date value. The date value is situated on sheet 1 cell B7. The 3 sheets I wish to hide are sheets 2, sheets 3 and sheets 4. These 3 sheets are required to be made unhidden until 3 days before date in sheet 1 cell B7. From the date value I want the workbook to hide the 3 sheets and can only be unhidden if a correct password is used to unhide these 3 sheets.

I have two workbooks, one a database that accumulates data over time, and the other a monthly report that needs to be populated based on information from the database. When moving data between the two, the following works fine (snipped a lot for ease of reading):

As you can see, it simply puts the month from a cell in the database into the report workbook. However, if I change Range("A1") to Cells(1,1) I get a runtime error:

I can generally work around this issue by changing the active workbook, but doing so is a big pain. Is there any way to use the second bit of code without popping an error message?

I have a userform with numerous text boxes. One textbox is used to input a date with the following code

When I have completed my userform I want to export this date as a date into range(a2) so I can then use the filter function to filter by month or year. THe problem I am having at the mo is that in the userform it is formatted as dd mm yy, but when I export it from userform it changes to mm,dd,yy. So if I entered 12th January 2014 it changes it to 1st December 2014.
A workaround is to export as text but then I use the filter by month year function so would prefer to avoid this.
