Return Unique Text Values Without Advanced Filter

I have a list of Window sizes and types in Range B4:B:43. The descriptions repeat because in Column K I am listing a location for each window in a house.

Example:
B K
3050 SH 1/1 Dining Room
3050 SH 1/1 Kitchen
2030 Fixed Foyer
2030 Fixed Living Room

In the Same sheet Starting on B:45 I want a list of only Unique Window Types:

B:45 and Down:
3050 SH 1/1
2030 Fixed

I'd like this to automatically appear after populating the first list. I used an advanced filter the first time and it worked, but it is not reliable and sometimes returns duplicate values or give me an error message. Plus once again having it happen automatically as the list will change each time I access the sheet would be great.

i need to use the advance filter=>unique records only feature from my macro... how would i do tat? i have 3 columns... column A has records which are repeated... column B and column C's values for a corresponding column A's value are the same...

A B C
a 3 6
b 4 7
c 8 9
d 1 2
a 3 6
b 4 7

.... and so on...

i need to use tat feature so tat i can filter column A alone and then copy column A, column B and column C's value to columns E,F and G...

Unique List Without Vba Or Advanced Filter

I have a list of item numbers that will be repeated numerous times. I would like to extract a list of unique values that would update when a new number is added. I would really like to do this with formulas. Both of the list will be on the same sheet. I have racked my brain trying to figure out a way to do this. I thought I could use LOOKUP and MAX for the first cell, and then subtract one from the number above for the following LOOKUP formulas. That did not work. Probably because my list is not sorted.

I'm having a problem deleting duplicates from list in excel. I’ve attached a sample. I’ve tried the following:

1-Advanced Filter, Unique Records Only

2-Remove Duplicates function in Excel 07.

3-Pivot Table

4-Colour Conditional Formatting, sorting by colour

5-B2=IF(A2=A3,”Dup”,”Not-Dup”). The entire column returns “Not-Dup”

6-I’ve tried to resolve using the fix shg & teylyn suggested to Hillto in this thread, but am unable to get the ‘Numeric’ Keypad to appear in the ‘Find’ Function.

Advanced Filter To Return Rows W/blank Column

I have a worksheet which shows multiple tests and whether they are completed or not[code]Test 1 Person1 Test 2 Person2 Test 3...Person12. I want to search for a specific test, e.g. pH which could be in any of the "Test" columns but only return it if it is not completed. The "Person" columns will be blank if no one completed the test.

I set up the Advanced Filter criteria with all the appropriately labeled columns and for the Person columns, I put ="" but it is returning all rows which have pH in them whether they are completed or not. What should I be putting in the Person columns of the criteria to only return those rows which have the pH test but it is not completed. I attached an example of the criteria range and the filter window to help clarify (the full spreadsheet is huge)

Advanced Filter For Text

I have a huge list (over 900,000 rows) of text codes (e.g. ABC-12345) on Column A Spreadsheet 1 and would like to remove the ones that are not included in Column A Spreadsheet 2.

I changed all of the text on Column A Spreadsheet 2 to have the in front of it (e.g. ABC-1234) and tried to run the advanced filter but it does nothing.

Advanced Filter For <> Several Text Strings

i have a lot of data which i am going to be running an advanced filter on. One of the criteria i am trying to filter for is a list of text values that i want to make sure a row does not contain. Lets say for example I have a list of 2 text values in column "symbols" that i would like to omit in my filtered results, "abc" and "xyz".
As of now I can only set up a criteria to omit one of those.

Symbol
<>abc

this works right now.

But if i try to put <>xyz in the cell immediately under there, I thought its supposed to be filtering for symbol that does not equal abc or xyz, but instead it doesnt filter anything out. I think it may be a syntax error or something else that I am doing wrong. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Ideally, I would like to be able to filter out a list of text values that I keep in another column. Like lets say today I wanted to omit "abc" "xyz" and "lmnop" and I would have the advanced filter criteria just reference that list of values as what I would like to filter out. Except there would probably be a list of at least 20 to 30 values, that change over time, so it would be much easier to just keep it all neat in one column that I can edit as I need to.

Advanced Filter To Cells With Multiple Values?

I'm trying to set up a a spreadsheet where a user can enter search terms to filter a list of data. I'm using Advanced Filter so I can use wildcards and operators (>, < etc) and copying the results to a "results" sheet.

My problem is that some of the data entries have multiple values associated with them and this makes the filters values act funny. I have come up with two ways of setting out the list so far but both have faults:

Option 1: Use Alt+Enter to separate multiple values ie:
Description
Asset #
Site
Product Type
Speed
Comments

I can filter this table for machines with a speed of 1000 using the advanced filter parameters:

Description
Asset #
Site
Product Type
Speed

1000

*1000

1000*

The user gives an input of "1000" and the spreadsheet automatically adds the wildcard * on the two rows below so that the advanced filter looks for Speed = 1000 OR *1000 OR 1000* (this collects the speeds 15001000 and 1000800) I would get this as a result:

Product Type
Speed
Comments

The Problem: I can't think of a way to use operators like > or

Advanced Filter To Filter Cell Comments With The Cell Values

I have many sheets which I am using the advanced filter to filter the data to a single summary sheet. Everthing works great with one exception. I have cell comments added with relevent info to to cell values. When the advanced filter is performed the cell comments are not transfered to the summary sheet with the cell values. Is there a method to filter the data to another sheet and keep the comments?

Advanced Filter Code - Criteria Range More Than 1 Row Breaks Filter

I found a great bit of Advanced Filter code that works great, and fixed a problem of clearing a cell breaking the filter.

But if I want to increase the criteria from 1 row to 2, so you can start to include And , Or operations, it breaks the filter. Even an attempt at a manual one fails, until you put the criteria range back down to one row, then it's fine again.

I've tried changing the Target Row to >2 but that didn't work. how to make the criteria range bigger, and no problems of breakage if you clear the cells? It makes for a very useful automated Advanced Filter.

The criteria range should be AZ1:BC3, but of course royally breaks it...

Filter Not Returning Unique Values

I'm using Excel 2003 and am trying to filter a list of values. The list has duplicate values in it. When I use Filter>Advanced Filter and select "Unique records only" the filter only eliminates some of the duplicates. If there are 4 values of 100, it may filter 2 of them or none at all. Ultimately I'm trying to end up with a list of values with no repeats.

[Excel 2007]. I'm trying to get the list of unique values from a Filter on a column in VBA.

I've given the column a Range Name

There's nothing in the range method dropdown that obviously relates to the Filter on the range.

Is it something to do with the Table method?

Here i need to get the unique FA, so i filter the column FA, my question is, After filter with FA column ,is there any way to store these unique FA(ie S1,M1,M2,M3) into an array using vba?

I need to count the unique items in a range that don't contain the string "option". I would like not to use VBA for that but I can't make it work with a simple formula.

That doesn't count the cell with the content "option" and count correctly the other unique items. However I need to ignore any cell that contains the string "option" (with wildcards).

Look Across Values In 12 Columns, Return The Number Of Unique Values

I have 12 columns of data. In those 12 columns of data I have 3 digit numeric IDs. I want to count the unique number of IDs for each row. I have about 14K rows.

What would be the best way to do so?

Some rules about how the data is stored. I have 12 columns of data with anywhere from 1 to 12 columns having data for each respondent. Data always fills left to right and never skips columns.

I have attached an example file that represents how the data is stored and the output I would like (Unique Count).

I receive a stock on hand report daily which containers 7,000 + lines each day.

I want, in another sheet to show me what new product codes have appeared when compared against the previous day, for example

The Question:

This is a hard one, I promise! Is there a way/formula/VBA to return multiple unique values from a table or from multiple columns with criteria?

My Objective

I want to create a table that has unique company names in the first column (done already) and all the connections that belong to a given company in the columns #2....#n. Like this:

Column1 Column2 Column3 ..... Column n
Company X1: Co. ABC Co.XYZ Co.Acme
Company X2: Co. SEB Co. Becme Co. Cecme
....
Company Xn: Co. X1 Co. ABC Co. Acme

I have a small sample that has 20.000 rows and 25 columns of data of 1946 unique companies downloaded from my schools database. This means that doing this by hand would take forever!

The data has many duplicates which makes this complicated. The first column shows company name and columns 2...n present connections. Like this:

Column1 Column2 Column 3 ...... Column n
Company X1: Co. ABC Co. XYZ Co. Acme
Company X1: Co. ABC
Company X1: Co.Acme
Company X1: Co. XyZ Co. ABC

In this example Company X1 is connected to companies ABC, XYZ and Acme. The formula should be able to filter/omit overlapping entries.

Advanced Filter On Name Selection

I have a large Excel with details of 1,000 staff

Column J1 is called: Resource Name which has 1,000+ staff other columns have corresponding Hours, Project names etc

I want an advanced filter where I select COLUMN J:J and filter this whole sheet based on say 25 names (in the format they're in) e.g

Frank, James
Wilkonson, Paul,
etc

In the Advanced Filter, Ive selected J:J as LIST RANGE, but how do I input an OR statement in the Criteria, as above i.e where name is Frank, James OR Wilksonson, Paul OR

Alternatively, I have the list of the 25 names in Sheet 2, can the Advanced Filter do a VLOOKUP then filter entire Sheet based on the names provided?

Automate Advanced Filter

Basically I have set up a list on sheet1, this is now on a drop down in sheet2 and my raw data in sheet3.

I want the table in sheet2 to just display the product items I select in the dropdown but it is displaying all the raw data (although is updating when I update the raw data)

Granted I copied the code whilst researching but I'm just not quite there.

Could someone possibly look at the attached and let me know where I am going wrong. Also as you can tell I am very new to teh VB application in Excel, could anyone reccommend a good place to start learning the very basics?
