Unwanted Values/Items In ListBox Control
Aug 29, 2006
I have an issue with some unwanted items in a listbox that gets its data from a pivot table, however it only happens with the one pivot field and for three of its pivot items.
I tried following a suggestion from an earlier thread to re-create the pivot table, but it did not work.
I'd like to post the file, but its too large, even in zip format.

I have a listbox which is populated with filenames from a specific folder when the userform is acivated. The user can choose any filename in the list to open it or adversly to delete it. When delete is used (ListBox is set to MultiSelectExtended) the selected files are 'Killed'. The filename list is then refreshed and listbox repopulated and resized ready for the next action. The problem is the recalculated ListBox.Height works fine and the ListBox shrinks in height as expected, but a vertical scroll bar appears as the number of lines is still that was prior to the files being deleted. This happens despite code having run an instruction to make the ListBox.Height = New Number of entries * line height. This doesn't stop the application to perform as expected but is an annoying cosmetic thing.

I have a database of data that looks like this
Centre Name Training Type Expert 1 Expert 2 Expert 3 Expert 4
MyCentre MyTraining Me
MyCentre MyTraining Me
MyCentre MyTraining Me
MyCentre OtherTraining Me
NewCentre NewTraining NewPerson
I am trying to create a user form (in VBA) with a combo box that has each centre name appear only once (despite the fact that in the database each occurs multiple times). When a specific centre is selected, this brings up all the different training types associated with that centre in a separate list box. When that training type is selected, it should bring up all of the experts in that training type (for the specific centre). I should mention that the range is static (though the data is always contiguous) as the database is updated on a going forward basis.

I created a list box from Forms toolbar (instead from VBE). I would like to add items to this list box using VBA, but cannot find right qualifier to access this object. When I tried to use " recording macro," the code that was generated was
ActiveSheet.Shapes("List Box 7")
but if I try something like
ActiveSheet.Shapes("List Box 7").addItem "hello"
it doesn't work, because well, addItem method belongs to ListBox object, not to Shape. So if I want to add an item to this list box, how should I reference this list box so that I can call addItem() on it?

I have a Listbox with a varying number of items in the list.
90% of the time the user will select all the items in the list.
Is there a way to have all the items preselected?
Then the remaining 10% can unselect.

I'm trying to create a module that will take selections from an activeX Listbox on a Sheet called Setup and transfer them to another sheet called Lists. On the Lists sheet, I want to store the selected items in cell L2 and down. So for example, if there were 4 items selected from the Listbox, cells L2:L5 would be populated with those values.

I can't seem to get my listbox to deselect an item. When the user clicks on a day of the week in the listbox, they are given a yes/no option to print the sheets for the day selected. If they select no and change their mind, they cannot click on the same day of the week without first cancelling the listbox and re-opening it.
Private Sub UserForm_Initialize()
Dim myarray As Variant
myarray = Split("Monday|Tuesday|Wednesday|Thursday|Friday|Saturday|Sunday", "|")
ListBox1.List = myarray
End Sub
Private Sub ListBox1_Click()
Call PrintRoutine(ListBox1.Value)

I have a list of items across 4 rows. It is a single select, not a multi-select list.
Row 1 is a Unique ID (1 to nth), Row 2 is a description, Row 3 is a Number Value for one requirement and Row 4 is a number value for another requirement. I have a listbox which captures the range and displays the data in a multi-column format. I want the user to have the ability to move records up or down in the order. I know you can do this for individual items in a colum using list index, but list index does not like to capture rows.

Passing an array from a sub to another sometimes works, sometimes not. But when I call the same sub twice, it definately gets stuck at least at the second time. Seems as if I tend to lose some of my items of the array. And I cannot figure out why it happens, at what pace it happens or how I could stop this from happening.
1.Could it be that a control perishes as soon as it is set to 'ctrl.enabled=false'? 2.Or could it be that a declared array 'ary=array(tb1,cb1,frm1)' can not be handled without having had its items initialized with some lines of code, although the items visibly exist within the user form? 3. Can it be that a Sub 'remembers' the former values passed to it, if set to 'optional'?
However, I have added a cleared/minimized version of my userform as a file to this post, hoping that some of you out there might find the time to have a look at it.... I would really appreciate it. I have added the decisive parts of the macro below here, as well,
Private Sub UserForm_Initialize()
Dim elem As Variant
Dim wSht As Worksheet
Dim ctrl As Control
'set control arrays
'[...]
ctrlAllStep2 = Array(cbTimeOnly, cbIntensityOnly, cbAreaOnly) '[...]
ctrlAllStep3 = Array(tbIntensityTotal, tbIntensityBleached) '[...]
MsgBox "Two Controls exist now: 1." & ctrlAllStep2(0). name & ", 2. " & ctrlAllStep2(1).name, vbInformation, "Note: controls exist..."
'disable Controls in Step2 and in Step3....................

why this is causing an error upon opening the file. This workbook has a userform with a listbox (single list, single selection), and when I have the ControlSource property set it causes an error upon opening the userform (which opens when the file is opened), whereas if I do not have the ControlSource property set to anything, it seems to work fine.
Interestingly, if I set the file up to not open the userform with the file, and instead have the userform open when a worksheet control such as a command button is clicked, it doesn't seem to matter if the ControlSource property is set or not. The workbook in question is attached.

Is it possible to get the multiselection the users make in the listbox correlate directly to the original cells the rows pertain to?
the reason is I need to be able to get the users to multi select the cells they want to print and then send print commands to the documents ancd drawings located in their hyperlinks. So if there was some way to pull the Cells selections then I could work with this indefinately. I''m unsure whether this is feasable, I was thinking of putting the multiselect results into an array using the text values then doing a vlookup or something, but the original drawing register sheet doesn't have unique items just unique hyperlinks :P I cannot manipulate the physical layout of the sheet itself as other macro's are located on these sheets.

Code:
Dim flag As Boolean
Private Sub UserForm_Initialize()
Dim myWorksheet As Worksheet
flag = True
[Code] ........
I made a user form that, with the click of an item in the listbox (which is populated with the worksheet names), will show or hide the matching worksheet. I was using indices, but a problem occurs when there are some hidden sheets to begin with, because the listbox is filled with only the visible worksheets (that's part of the functionality required) and so, when there are hidden worksheets the indices of the listbox are totally different. So, to avoid that kind of bugs I thought I'd use the sheet + listbox names to show/hide the worksheets, but that is proving to be a very hard task.
How I can use the listbox item names + worksheet names to make the "mapping" correctly?

ListBox2 (right) is a copy of ListBox1 (left), yet when I populate ListBox1 I get dotted lines separating each item (Photo #1.)
When I populate ListBox2 it comes out clean (Photo #2.)
what I might need to change so that ListBox1 does not have the dotted lines around each item?
Scrolling up and down w/ListBox1 will remove some of the dotted lines.

How to select pivot items in a pivot field based on choices from a MULTICOLUMN listbox?
At present, all I know is how to deselect pivot field values
Range("A5").Select
With ActiveSheet.PivotTables("PivotTable4").PivotFields("MONTH")
.PivotItems("MAY").Visible = False
Because the pivot table automatically starts with all items selected?

I am trying to copy multiple items from a listbox.
I have a listbox which populates with all the email addresses in my global address list.
From this I select email addresses which move to another listbox.
I then want to copy these selected email addresses to a spreadsheet when I hit a button.
I can get it to copy the 1st one but that is it.
I know this will be very simple to do but I just can't think what it is.
