I am trying to work out a formula. I know it's a simple one but i can not work it out. If i work 9.5 hours or more per day I get an extra $10.50 for food allowance.
For example (see attachment) IF E17 is equal to 9.5 or higher then cell E23 should automatically read $10.50
Is there anyway to read a specific cell from many excel files automatically and add them to a new workbook?
I tried to link that specific cell to a new workbook manually but now I have a problem: If I change the name of any workbook that is linked to the new workbook, Excel can't update the new file name

The base formula (for W1) is:
=Vlookup($a6;'W1'!$A:$B;2;0)
What I want, is the formula which instead of "W1" will write the sheet name which is in a row 5 (basically - cell name which is equal the sheet name), so with just dragging and moving the formula I will got the data from different sheets.
I tried this: =Vlookup(A6;'indirect("c5";1)'!$A:$B;2;0)
But I got #N/D! as in the example, instead of the numbers (yes, I put numbers into W1 and W2 sheets .
i have a file that needs to have daily postings to it, I would like for it to automatically generate today's date and then if you change figure 1, it carries over to figure 2.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI receive a large file every month with 30K+ rows of data that need to be manipulated manually before I can send it off. Within the data are "chunks" of data that are anywhere from 1 to 90 rows each. Each chunk needs to total 100 or less, and while they do for the most part, some end up over 100 due to rounding (usually 100.02 or so). The rows above and below each chunk are blank, and I currently have a calc to add each chunk, and flag it if it's over 100. Then, I have to go through each of the flagged chunks and manually decrease one of the lines to make the total 100.
Is there any way to automate any or all of this procedure?
I have attached a sample file with two chunks of data. The actual files contains 14 more columns to the left that aren't shown.

How to correct my formula because it does not work?

I need to insert the formula in column C (Findings tab) which counts the rows in Column M (tab named "Data") that equal A17 (Column A in "Findings" tab) and which are less or equal zero. In addition if I drag the formula down I want to only the values be entered in highlighted in blue cells in column C (SKUs With Zero Sales in "Findings" tab) and empty cells in not highlighted cells. I attached images of these two tabs: Data and Findings.

The problem is that I have a list of values and I want to be able to show how many of these values are either higher, lower or the same to a specific cell value. However one complexity that I have is that some of the competitors do not have values for all records (i.e. some are blank) and I want to discount these from the counting.
I am trying to determine how to great a formula for cells E5, E6 of the attached (in pink) that says if the value of the cell above (E4) is equal to or Greater than the value of cell E10, the cell will perform the formula that I already have in E5, E6.
But what I'm trying to do is create a 5 year investment plan whereby the worksheet automatically inputs those values for me if the balance is above our minimum reserve. That way I can play with the default assumptions and see how it changes throughout the worksheet.

View 4 Replies View RelatedThis is a logic based macro that needs to compare values in 1 column above a specific cell and take action until the column has no more data. Here's what I'm trying to do (and I've also attached a sample of desired results):
1) I want user to input starting cell. So I need to create a button for that.
2) This is where the logic begins and I'm having difficulty.
From cell defined in button, I move up one cell in that column and compare that value to the original cell.
If the value is greater than original cell then logic needs 2 outcomes:
a) move up 1 cell in column and if that value is less than original cell, then extract that value and copy that value one cell to the right or 1c.
b) move up 1 cell in column and if that value is greater than original cell, then move up again, until find lesser value than original cell. Once we find value less than original cell, extract value and copy value one cell to the right or 1c.

I'm trying to open a file on a network drive...but I'm getting the following error message when it opens: "This file may be read-only, or you may be trying to access a read-only location. Or the server the document is stored on may not be responding." Now, the file itself has no rights restrictions and is not read only. It doesn't appear to be locked.
Now, there are other Excel files in the same directory which I could open fine; however, the Excel documents having the above problem all have a little black icon "appears to be a padlock" (image attached) at the bottom left hand side of the Excel file icon. I tried the following:
- Renaming
- Converting to a different file format (didn't work, it won't let me)
- Opening in notepad...etc doesn't work.
This file is dated back in 2004...do you think it's corrupt? Is there anything i can do to open or recover this?
This is for mileage purposes. I have two sheets. 1st sheet I have Date, From, To, Mileage. I want the Mileage cells to automatically equal the mileage it is from and to. Right now I have it setup like this on the 1st sheet B7 is Date, C7 is From and D7 is To and E7 is Mileage. I have a drop down menu for C7 and D7 for our facilities such as Ming Ave (MNG), Coffee Rd(COF) and so on. On the 2nd Sheet I have the chart that show the miles.
example MNG to COF is 8.3 miles.

which is supposed to read the cell offset 3 to the right, and then set to either YYYYMMDD or YYYY depenig on the value in the cell. I'm not sure how to specify the first part of this line - .Offset(0, 3).Value = Format(.Value, "yyyymmdd") - it keeps reading the cell in column A, rather than the offset cel.
I spent a lot of time on this but still can't figure this out.

The RESULT column returns the next value that is larger than the reference.
E.g. The next value that is larger than 10 is 20.
NOT the next larger value, the next larger value of 10 is 12. This is not what I want.

I am trying to get a SUM function to recognise values within a range of cells, that are immediately followed by a *. i.e. 34*
For each range i need to count the total number of inputs, count the number of starred inputs & add up all the values entered.
Currently COUNT doesn't recognise starred values, COUNTIF is set to count only starred values, and SUM wont recognise the value of the starred values.
Is there a way to only read the number element of an input - there are only integer values & starred integer values. The starred inputs are also conditionally formatted. If there is a way would it then affect the COUNT/COUNTIF element?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI can't construct a formula that would do it for me. I have a row of numbers. I need to find the first number in that row that is greater or equal to 90, when that is found I need to return a number from a different row. Example:
I have 90 in A1.
In row B2:F2, I have numbers like -125, -100, -90, 90, 91, 150 etc.
In row B1:F1 I have rates like 4.25, 5.5, 3.75, 5.625, 6.00, 7.00 etc
I need to get the first number that is >=90, and return the rate above that number. ( Rates are always in one row)
I'm having trouble with a small vba macro. At the end of the macro I test to see if two variables are equal and then print out true or false. However, for some reason even though the variables are equal vba is not treating them that way. I have put the values that represent the variables on a spreadsheet and used the if(x1=x2) formula and it says it is true, also, when I debug the macro and watch the values when it comes to test the logical expression the numbers are the same. I don't understand why vba does not say that the two variables are equal. I have attached a screenshot of the breakpoint where I double check the values are equal.

Once the value has been copied, end. However, if the cell to the right of the copied has a value, then that value should be copied instead.
If the cell is blank, then the information should not be copied.
Basically I have a string of data from left to right being populated, with the most current value being copied to a differnt sheet.

What I have so far below is pieced together from little insights from over the web, but currently it does nothing. Not even error messages. It has more fields (if "XX" > print blah blah) but they are all the same, so only the first two iterations are shown here for clarity.
