VBA Code To Automatically Fill Down And Apply Formula Till Last Cell

Aug 22, 2012

I am using this code and it works fine:

Dim MyData As Range
Dim MyResult As Range
Set MyData = Range("E1:E1000000")
Set MyData2 = Range("F1:F1000000")
Set MyResult = Range("J4")
MyResult.Select
Selection.Formula = "=COUNTIFS(" & MyData.Address & ",""=Kim""," & MyData2.Address & ",""=done"" )"

Is there any way I can change the code so that it automatically finds the last cell as Im using Range("E1:E1000000") and Range("F1:F1000000") because there will not be more than 1000000 entries.

Automatically Add Cell Formula With Code

Dec 4, 2006

Cell b2 contains the formula
=IF( COUNTIF(B$1:B2,B2)=1,MAX(A$1:A1)+1,"")
I want cell b3 to contain the formula
=IF(COUNTIF(B$1:B3,B3)=1,MAX(A$1:A2)+1,"")
I can do this within the spreadsheet by simply highlight and drag down to autofill and excel updates the formula references as I need

However - because the sheet gets very large (its a sort of rough database)
I dont fill in all the formulae on a blank sheet, but each time a record is entered using a VBA form I have the following working code copy the formula

ActiveCell.Offset(nextline, 0).Copy
ActiveCell.Offset(nextline + 1, 0).Select
ActiveSheet.Paste

However I dont want to use 'Active' - because I have to work out what cell is selected before this is executed and then reselect it after, which also causes the screen to flash when the active sheet changes so I tried the following which does not work

Worksheets(" Analysis").Range("A2").Offset(nextline, 0).Copy
Worksheets("Analysis").Range("A2").Offset(nextline + 1, 0).Paste

because 'object does not support this property or method' on the Paste.

I can save the code in a string and modify the string to generate the new code, but I cant find a way to assign the new formula to the next cell.

Making A Formula To Automatically Fill A Label

Jun 8, 2009

As I am a fresh user of excel 2007 I do not know how hard it is to solve the problem I am facing but hopefully there is a solution that the readers here are willing to share with me.

I have a list of **-s that I have recorded as a hobby with my friends (karaoke, free concerts...) and I have them coded in a specific way, so that I can find them on a shelve easily. The list is built up in a form that is seen on the example file that I added.
So far I have used my own handwriting and a sticker to label my ** boxes. Itīs not a very good looking combo to be honest. Since I already have all the data in my excel tabel it would be good to use excel to take all the things from there and just print it out.
How to do that? The front cover is easy, I used VLOOKUP function. All I have to do is enter a number into the column C1 and the front label gets filled.

The problem for me is the back cover that should take the right track nr, title and length from several rows (VLOOKUP uses only one row at a time)? How to make it work, that excel would know that on the first album there are 3 tracks and when chaging a number in C1 there would be 2 tracks on a second one.

Add Formula & Auto Fill Via Macro Code

Mar 13, 2008

I want a Macro to be able to copy a formula down from cell A2 down the entire column within the data range. But, the problem I've got is that the spreadsheets I'll be using the Macro on will be different sizes. Currently, the VBA looks like this:

ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "= LOWER(RC[3])"
Range("A2").Select
Selection.AutoFill Destination:=Range("A2:A17340"), Type:=xlFillDefault
Range("A2").Select

So the "Destination:=Range("A2:A17340")" part copies the formula into all cells from A2 to A17340. Other spreadsheets might only have data up to cell A200, or Awhatever - is there a way of getting the macro to populate just the cells in column A but only where there is data adjacent in other columns?

Also, I want the Macro to be able to delete all rows wherever "DELETE" appears in a certain column - I had a look at the "Delete Entire Row Based on Criteria" Macro but I'm looking for a fully automated solution, rather than the question boxes coming up and asking which cell/criteria, I need to run this macro on multiple sheets and the criteria/column position will always be the same -

Copy/Fill Down Formula Macro Code

ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "=LEN(RC[-1])"
Range("L2").Select
Selection.AutoFill Destination:=Range("L2:L234")
Range("L2:L234").Select

I am using column K and it looks up the length of this cell. When I created the formula I was using info that only went to line 234 which was fine. Once I clear the info in column K and input new info it can go further than line 234. How do I get the macro to look up the whole of column k without having to create a new macro each time?

Apply Formula To Cell That Allows User Input?

Apr 14, 2014

Cell A1 is going to be used as my true/false value to trigger the formula. Cell A2 must allow user input to calculate "what if" scenarios however, if cell A1 value = true then cell A2 = 0.

I think I need to place my formula into A3 to allow the user their input to A2 without overwriting my formula. Problem is if I place the = sign in front of IF, the formula does not work the way I need it to. If I don't place the = sign in front of IF excel just treats it as a text entry.

=IF(A1="Actual",A2=0)
IF(A1="Actual",A2=0)

I have inherited this workbook and am just trying to automate the functionality to streamline.

Automatically Re-apply AutoFilter When Any Change

Jul 17, 2009

I'm working on an excel sheet to display technical problems in an office. I want to use a filter in order to not display problems that were resolved (by applying a filter to show only "0" on the "problem duration" column that displays "hours problem was up after solved" and "0" if not solved) as the point is to display only non-resolved issues.
I wanted this filter to be re-applied constantly, meaning once I fill the time and date it's solved and the formula calculates the time it was up, this row will automatically vanish due to the filter applied.

I found this thread on your site Refresh Autofilter Automatically from the resolved problems so we need to remove the filters once in awhile. With this after the filter is removed, you cannot setup a new filter at all (it just doesn't seem to allow you, erasing it after it is being applied). I need to not only be able to setup a new filter, but also that this new filter will be reapplied automatically all the time (temporary disable of a filter is also an option, but I do not know whether it's possible).

I do have Excel 2007 on Vista, but I also need this to work on Excel 2003 with XP.

Automatically Re-Apply Auto Filter When Data Changes

Apr 26, 2008

Setting up all 50 states was not so bad, and I tried a Pivot Table but I have very little experience with them and could not figure out how to show only the nonzero states. So, I looked up how to filter the pivot table and discovered I could just filter the state data without the pivot table.

So, I put all 50 state abbreviations in one column. In the next column I put countif formulas to count how many customers came from each state. (In the meantime, I learned how to use an indirect formula to pull the state ID from the first column and copy it down and have the formula advance for each row... cool!) Then, I filtered the columns on the count twice. First, in descending order; then, without the zeros.

However, the weak side of the filter is that it does not automatically update when a new state is entered. I have to go and manually filter again. So, is there a way to get the filter to update dynamically? I know that a pivot table is dynamic but I have a lot to learn and I can probably browse around and figure out how to show only the nonzero states. Once I learned that, would it dynamically update when a new state is added?
