I need to get a range of cells to flash when they get close to todays date, I have tried but can't do it, not very good at conditional format or vba, easy step by step if poss, i have sheet if required,
todays date = 11/01/12 (in cell O1 as autodate)
title in cell K7 is date on site
in Cell K8 = 13/01/12
in Cell K9 = 19/02/12 etc....
I would like this cells background to flash if its 2 days from the onsite date
I have solved many problems with the solutions presented here.
I have multiple workbooks which contains numerous different dates.
and I need to make them flash when the dates are due within one week etc.
I would like to know what kind of command in vba or formula in excel it needs.
It's quite funny that i'm asking this cause I answered a similar quesstion earlier. But I can't seem to get my head around the thinking of this one.
I am trying to create a formatting so that if todays date is greater than the date in the cell the cell is coloured red. And if todays date is > today()-14 <today() the cell is coloured yellow.
I don't think it is as simple as using conditionaly formatting, it may well be but like I said I can't quite get my head around what I need to do.
I m a newbie at Excel but i have a little work project on my hands which i would like to have an excel document have cells change colour to the date
eg:
Today is 05/02/08 cells with the attached date of this should be orange
Above this date should be green (e.g 10/02/08)
and below this date should be red (e.g 01/01/07)
Also after this problem is solved, the dates that turn orange is it possible to automatically have some sort of message come up saying that "Such as such is expiring" or for the red "Such and such is expired" and would the program/document need to be open for the messages to occur?
I work for a UK charity and have a list of funders in an Excel 2007 spreadsheet.
One of the columns refers to the date on which a new application for funding can be made to that particular funder.
In many cases new applications for funding can't be made for 1 or more years since the last application - sometimes as many as 5 years later. How to get a cell to refer to the date that it contains.
For example, say I have in cell A1 "The Acme Funding Organisation" and in cell B1 (i.e. the "Reapply when?" column) a date of 01/04/2013 (British date format, i.e. 1 April 2013) then what I want Excel to do is to look at the date in cell B1 and if that date has been reached to highlight the cell red. That way I'll know that the reapply date has been reached & that a new application can be made.

I originally posted this question with out the code I'm using. I am trying to make a specific cell flash to catch the attention of other dispatchers. The problem is when I we try to close the active page it will automatically open. The only way we can completely close the page is to close Excel completely. Doing this though also closes several other pages that we need to have remaining open.

So I have a date in cell A1 for example.
Now if cell B1 is either blank, or more than 6 days from the date in cell A1 I want it to turn red.
I have a row which contains a date header.
Under this there are multiple lines of activities each with a different end date and empty cells under the calendar headers so that people can enter how long they have worked against that project.
What I want to do is to compile a VBA coded which will cycle each line and at the intersection of where the end date and header match to colour that cell in a defined colour.

This might sound daft, but im just wondering if it is possible to Flash text 2 different colours in a cell. Cell A1 will say - - - Well done. and I want it to flash blue and red, but not use VBA to do it. Can it be done or am I wishful thinking? This would be on Office 97.

These figures are the result of a formula of other cells, with constantly changing values, therefore the % figures are constantly changing as well.
What I would like to do is highlight the cell with highest % figure, ideally to 'flash', either cell colour or flashing text.
When I return to a sheet by clicking on the tab of the sheet, the sheet is not immediately visible. When the sheet does become visible a cell has a black flashing background. Sometimes, but not always, the flashing cell is the activecell. Through the activate event of the sheet I attempt to make $A$1 the active cell:

I have a lookup that gives and RGB colour code in Cell A1; for example 186, 206, 140.
I'd then like Cells R10:V15 to fill with the RGB colour based on the result in A1.
A column of cells can be 1o different shades of green according to their value (achieved by using conditional formatting.) I want to arrange that at a certain time all the cells of a part of the row of a formatted cell are the same colour.

The spreadsheet has dates across row 3 that are calculated from the first cell F3 with =F3+7 to populate the rest of the row with dates. I want to be able to input a start date in D4, then all the other titles in column A. This start date will start the coloured bar at that start date in the chart, I will then copy/drag that start date cell for however number of weeks for the duration and I want the finish date to auto populate E4 with the finish date and also auto populate the numbers of weeks in C4 for that bar.

A while back I was assisted with trying to prevent excessive screen flashing...
I was originally using the Application.ScreenUpdating=False method...but it was still a little jumpy... so Richard Schollar (a valued member in our forum) helped me with this code and it seemed to work...
Now I am trying to apply it again to another macro and it is not working so well. The thing I found is that on some people's computers it does work well, but not on mine.
Does anyone know why that is and how I can fix it so it doesn't flash on mine either?
Any way to make a button to blink if by the user form?
What I mean: I got a "UserForm", it got 9 buttons and each of them have a macro (everything works perfectly), but is there a way without affecting the current macro for each button, somehow when pressed chosen me button, it flashes while delivering its intended macro?

The code does exactly what I want it to do, but when Sheets 2 and 3 are hidden images of what is being pasted briefly flash up on the screen. Is there a way of avoiding this? The amount of data in the whole sheet is quite large (about 4MB), could it just be that the program is running too slowly?
I have attached macro code, which populates a three page template and clears the contents, so that the process can be repeated. I would like to stream line the macro which populates the template - currently there is alot of screen flickering back and forth between worksheets.
