In cell A1, I have three possible text strings: (1) "change/s: changed the color green to red", (2) "change/s: changed the color from green to red, changed the size from big to small", or (3) "changed the color from red to green".
I need a formula that will look at a text string, and if there is a comma in the string, it finds the word "change/s" and substitutes it with "changes", if it finds no comma, it substitutes the word "change/s" to "change", and if the word "change/s" is not in the text string at all, it leaves that text string unchanged.

8. Then it should search for second word (A2) and replace with its equivalent (B2) and so on till it reaches last filled cell in excel file column A.
After a lot of search I could find a code from net (Below), made a few changes, but it is not working.

Trying to repeat a 550 or so character statement with a find/replace however I am getting type mismatch errors. When I use a smaller message in the "replace" it works.
I need it to post a message exactly as long as what I have in there. How do I get it to work?
I am in the middle of automating a process here at work, the program takes a word, "pencil" for example, from excel. It will then open up a word document with content already in it (premade template). The program will then find all instances of a string, "placepencilhere" for example, and will replace that instance with the string from excel.
Basically I want to be able to take a variable that has a stored string value from excel and use it to replace another variable in a word document.
I tried recording a replace (ctrl+f, replace tab) macro, copying the code, and inserting it into the excel vba code.. but I get a error message. Here is what I have:

This code finds any string in a cell of your choice and colors it red. I would really like to replace the string with my own string of text. I couldn't use the simple find and replace function as this replaces the WHOLE cell content not just one word.

I have a workbook with about 8 sheets that is used for pricing vehicles with options.
On the first sheet is the list of about 40 vehicles. I would like to insert a command that IF the quantity of vehicle X = 1 (all others would be blank) then insert a MS Word document that contains the proposal.

In the attached file I want to do a Find/Replace for 599 --> 599.0 and 428 --> 428.0. When I do a F/R for each it tells me it has made 3 and 5 replacements respectively but the data is not changed?

Excel help suggests I haven't clicked on "find" before clicking "replace" but I did.
I've tried highlighting the column in which I want to make the replacements, but same message.

I have a VBA that opens a word document where I have a standard text, and some of the words are ment to change depending on who customer we have in mind.
It seems a bit unstable, sometimes it takes half of the words, if I add a sign like a comma after the word it seems to catch them better and manage to replace them.
Right now it doesn't change any of the words....

This opens the first file and dRow="7/13/2006". The next file that it opens contains links to information from the previous days. Without VBA you just drag the previous day down, select the row of data and do a replace all, say from 0712 to 0713. As you can see I even tried to make it use the specific data I wanted versus the variables; still doesn't work. What really gets me is that if I go back to the sheet after this code runs, I go to EditReplace, replace all "0712" to "0713" and it does it. It has to be the code then right??
I have never used VBA in word before, so I am assuming I am making it more complicated than it needs to be. I have a macro that stores 20 excel values as variables, then opens up a word document. I want to replace values in word with my values in excel. I keep getting an error with the replace part. I do not want to use bookmarks or mail merge. MSWord is a reference in excel VBA.

I am trying to use SUMIFS function in Excel 2010 to add the amount of money spent on a certain category by year. I have the year part of the calculation worked out, but can not seem to get Excel to find a word in a cell as part of the last condition. So far I have:

The A column contains dates, the D column includes the values to be totaled. The G column may include "utility bill for Maine" or "upkeep for Maine" or other text. I want excel to use having the word Maine in column G to be included in the total and those without the word to be omitted.
I have a large spreadsheet that has links to CSV files. Every month I need to create a new folder and put the CSV files into that folder, all the CSV files from month to month have the same name for each worksheet.
I'm trying to do Find and replace on the Folder name within the links to change say, February to March so I can just add the CSV files for each month and the spreadsheet will link to the new CSV file in the folder.
I have even tried adding all the February CSV's to the March folder so that when I overwrite the CSV's it will update the master spreadsheet, but it keeps asking me where to look for the folder.

I'm looking to simply delete certain words that are in cells, without having to delete rows, columns or the entire cell. I can use 'find and replace' and replace the particular word with a space, but I really want to delete the word. I'm using both Excel 2003 and 2000.

I am making a word cloud of survey responses for my boss and he doesn't like to see similar words in the cloud (like Ease and Easy or even Fast and Quick). I have several hundred of these responses that are open ended answers that say one or many of these terms. Any way I can separate all the words and have them in one neat column? If I can get to that point, replacing those words will be simple enough.

For the purposes of a specific calculation, I want to replace all the hire dates that are prior to 1/1/2011 with 1/1/2011. Is there a simple way to do this all at once with a Replace statement in my code without having to look at each record individually?
I know how to replace one specific date with another all at once, but I don't know to do it when I'm looking for more than one specific date.
