How To Stop Excel To Select Custom Format Option

i want to type 1-1 in my excel sheet and it is automatically coverting to 1-Jan and then i checked for formatting to the way i want then i founf excel automatically selecting custom option in format then if i select general my 1-jan is converting to 41640 number. Now i want excel sheet should show what typed in it i .e. 1-1 only.

Disabling Auto Format Detect Option Of Excel?

When i enter a value in an excel sheet cell ,Excel auto detect the data type and format that cell to that data type.

For example if i enter 4/4001, excel read it as date and convert the cell format from general to date and displays 4-Aprl.

However if i precede with " ' " this problem is solved but my question ios that can i permanently disable this auto detect option?

I am using someone else's old spreadsheet.

This spreadsheet uses a custom format of ##-##-## for a date such as 012214 prints as 1-22-14.

I need to convert this into normal short date format such as 3/24/2014 because there are four columns of dates in the spreadsheet and we have to do some addition and subtraction from one column to another.

I am using Excel 2007.

Excel 2003 :: AutoFilter By Day Of Week When Day Is From Custom Format?

I'm working with three large data sets covering a month of data in 5 minute intervals. There is a single date and time column which I am using some custom formats to list Time in 12 hour format, AM or PM and Day of the week.

Based upon the various analysis scenarios, adding some Autofilter columns is meeting most of my needs. One issue I am having is that I can filter on a single day using the built in list that Autofilter provides. But I have been asked to look at weekend vs weekday.

Since Excel 2003 only offers two filter criteria, I thought I could use a custom filter with Saturday and Sunday as include or exclude criteria. But, what I am findings is that while the Autofilter shows each day in the dropdown, certain attempts to use them within the custom autofilter do not work.

For example, equals Saturday and equals Sunday correctly returns only weekend data. However, if I try changing both to Does not equals, the result is that no data is filtered.Some of my research indicates that the problem is that the date information being presented as days of the week would need to be text strings . This seems to shed some light on the issue as any attempts at using wildcards fail.

I'm a fan of the Excel 2010 table styles, but can't figure one thing out. When I create a table in excel (Ctrl+T), I like to reformat it with a new defined style. When I save the style, I can use it while I'm in that instance of excel, but when I close and reopen excel, the style is gone. How to save the custom formats to they are always available?

Excel 2013 :: CF With 2 Option Buttons / Multiple Option Groups?

I have several option groups (Y & N in each) linked to cells to display TRUE / FALSE depending on which option is selected in each group. I have another cell which I want to apply conditional formatting to if EITHER Y or N is selected in all groups. At present I use COUNTIF to check for FALSE=0 in the linked cells which works if all the answers are Y. How do I apply CF if there is a mixture of Y & N (TRUE / FALSE) in all groups (I'm not sure if I've explained that well or not).

How can you use VBA code to turn off the annoying "Stop if True" default setting when doing conditional formatting in excel 2007? Right now when you have multiple conditional formatting conditions in a cell, it stops checking and formatting other conditions if one of those conditions is satisfied. I don't why they set this as the default...

I have conditional formatting rules set up using excel 2003. The file is opened in 2007 with the above-mentioned default setting that screws up all my conditional rules.

Right now the form is running perfectly. If I select an option with the mouse the correct form shows right up. The issue I have is that, the excel file will be running on a computer that will have no mouse. It will be using a barcode reader as its primary input source. What i would like to do is have the user swipe a 1,2 or 3 will the barcode reader or keypad.

Format Date In Cell To Custom Format?

I have a column in excel which gets populated in the format "2/1/1980" when copied from a different source. I want a macro to run on this column and convert this in the below format. Required format: '02-01-80 (note the ' symbol before 02 which will keep it as text)

Existing ----> Required
2/1/1980 --> '02-01-80
2/1/1970 --> '02-01-70
2/1/1983 --> '02-01-83

I need this macro to run on two columns and replace them with the required format. I can do a find and replace either in the sheet or through hard coding the VBA, but as the date format keeps growing, I would need to do this via code and hence requesting the same.

Adding 'select All' Option To Userform Listbox

I have a userform with 5 listboxes on the first page, each with multiple options. They are all set up so any number of options can be chosen.

2 are populated by the 'add item' method, and the other 3 pull data from 3 columns of the database when it's initialised to ensure all possible options are included.

My question is this - as there may be many options in each listbox to scroll through, if someone wanted to search on all the options in the listbox, it would be easier to have a 'Select All' option at the top, but I have no idea if this is possible, let alone how to do this -

Select A Chart Type In A Userform Using Option Buttons

I have made a simple procedure (which will extend to make something that I have to make but for time being) it asks user to select a chart type in a userform using option buttons and then the chosen chart type is taken as the chart type and makes the chart.

problem is that the typechart - variable to identify the chosen chart type - is not being recognised. Here's the coding, the variable is not passed (in yellow bolded) from one procedure to another?

Custom Function Select Case

I have a custom function that will tell me which quarter it is based on a date entered into a cell. It works except if the cell is empty is still returns the last Case but not my Case else. If the cell is blank I wanted the function to not return anything.

UserFrorm / Select All In Text Box Of First Tab Stop Programmatically While Opening Form

when my userform opens, it automatically puts the cursor into the first text box (based on the tab order) of the userform. I also set this text box value to read "0" (zero) when it first opens.

My questions is, can I make the userform open up as it does now (above), but ALSO highlight the zero ("0") in the text box? The reason is so that when the user inputs a number into this box, it also overwrites the zero in the box at the same time (because the zero would already be highlighted)?

As I have not tried to do this yet this is a hypothetical scenario. Imagine that a column, when filtered, gives cell values such as 3,6,9,12,18,24,36 ..and so on. Is there a way to select, say 12, and then see all the other values that are divisible into 12. e.g. all rows that have 3,6,12. Another example- select 36 and see 3,6,9,12,18 and 36?

On the attached example sheet, column 'O' will be filtered.

Stop Auto Format To Scientific Notation

I run a macro that imports a table from web page:

I import only the table with no formatting.

Excel tries to be helpful, and formats some of the cells in scientific notation.

I have tried to format the column to the "Text" format prior to the import with

Columns(2).NumberFormat = "@"

This does not work. If you import the table you can see that rows 1405, 1406, 1407, 1408 all have the same scientific notation value. Their true values should be 0E0, 0E4, 0E8, 0E9 respectively.

There are quite a few other instances in the column when a text value has "E" for the second character that Excel will format on its own.

Stop Scientific Format For Large Numbers

Im importing figures into column G of my worksheet, and I need a code so it automatically adds a "0" to the start of each row in column G plus format it.

For example, im pasting in 970702090341 but its showing as 9.70702E+11.

Once I format the cell to 'number' and 0 decimal places it looks fine, but want to save the hassle of doing it each time. Plus I need a zero at the start.

Is there a code possible for this?

Stop European Date Format Changing

I have a userform which is used to update a spreadsheet.

There are 7 textboxes which add dates to the spreadsheet. These dates are then used in formulas.

Every time a record is saved the date format changes.

Ths means that if the date is entered dd/mm/yyyy it writes mm/dd/yyyy and this is fine. When this record is next retrieved it will show mm/dd/yyyy and any new date will be dd/mm/yyyy.

Wen saved to the spreadsheet both formats change meaning the dates in the spreadsheet appear in diffrent formats messing up all formulas.

How can I stop the date format changing each time the record is saved?

I'm working on a workshet where ppl fill in vehicle numbers, but they all find their own unique ways to fill them up. Some of the examples are below:

KA 0072

3,4,7 are incomplete nos. while 1,2,5,6 are all complete nos. I want the format of these above nos. to look like this:

2315TN/MH04
9605G/HR38

9425H
8451A/TN04
5142GA/GJ04
0072KA

Can this be done automatically in a worksheet using the custom cell format function??.... because then it wud get formatted as necessary whenever someone enters a vehicle no. in that particular column.

Find When Using Custom Format

I have a sheet which uses a 'Custom Format' in column A, '00000' to give each row a unique reference. Is there any way to do a 'Find' using this format, e.g. 00012, rather than just 12. Searching using '00012' doesn't find the appropriate cell, whereas using '12' does?
