Save As new woorkbook from Input Name
I have one line with input box
I am looking for some macro code to create an Input box which will prompt the user to enter a specific date (not todays date so NOW function is not appropriate). This will in turn cause the file to be saved in a specific folder with the date becoming the name of the saved file.
I have a spreadsheet that requires an entry into an Input Box before the rest of the workbook is created. Users click on the button, an Input Box appears and they must enter data. Once the data is entered and they click OK the file is created and saved to their local drive with the name ".xls" and then the sheet closes.
What I want is to have the file that is created be named as whatever the user enters into the Input Box field.
I need to:Turn off "save" and "save as" command barsPrompt user for a unique filename Save file to a specific directory on the network common to all "p:dataprc"Requery user if filename exists and if they DON'T want to overwrite.Return to worksheet (there is only one) if the user cancels from the message box.Turn commandbars back on The macro runs from an on screen button
I get bug errors on NO or CANCEL when clicked in the message box. This is my current

I am an excel user and know only some basic functions of excel. My query is how do i save data inputted in an excel sheet to another sheet in database form (tabulated). I will try to explain what my present input and outputs are and what I would like to achieve. I think this would make my requirement more understandable.
Present Input:
My Excel Sheet (has only one record per sheet). This after being filled up, is printed. This sheet gets overwritten when a new record is filled in as it replaces the previous data.
Present Output:
Hard Copy of the form, which is printed.
Required Input:
Excel Sheet (has only one record per sheet). This after being filled up, is printed. This sheet gets overwritten when a new record is filled in as it replaces the previous data.
Required Processing:
As the sheet is printed, it should save the data in tabulated form in the same file on a different sheet.
Required Output:
1. Hard copy of the form, which is printed.
2. Saving the data to another sheet in database format i.e. in tabulated form so that analysis or comparisons may be done.
I currently have a macro to import user selected .Dat files into a new workbook, each on its own worksheet. My problem comes in trying to save this new workbook in the same folder as the imported .Dat files. I was thinking there should be a way to gather the file path from the imported files and use that in the Save As command.

I have a excel sheet in it. Is it possible? That when in any cell I input data in a cell and press "enter" then it save automatically.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to make a macro check if a file has been saved (ever). If so I want the macro to do a regular save (with already esatablished filename and location) before it proceeds with the rest of the macro. If the file hasnt been saved (if it runs from a new workbook) then I want it to pop up the save.as dialog, so that the user can choose the name and location of the file before the macro continues .
The macro itself is saved in personal.xlsx.
I'm trying to have a macro that opens the save as window, places the name in cell f5 and then allows you to save the workbook with cell f5 as the filename. I have managed to get the save as window to come up and the cell f5 as the name, but when I press save is doesn't. Here is what I have (also, is there a way to direct this to a specific folder).
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a macro that copy one sheet of the Active workbook and sends it via email.
I need to add a code in this sheet so when one opens it from the email, with a command button to be able to save the file to specific, fixed folder on the local network with it’s original file name.
My spreadsheet has 32 worksheets, I've recorded a macro to do the job "save, save as with specific name", but what I want is, when save as, I wanted the file name increase in one number, and the date in a specific range "H8:J8" the date should be the next saturday.
here is part of the code.
Range("D11:J65").Select
Selection.ClearContents
Range("J44").Select
Sheets("NsFri").Select
ActiveWindow.SmallScroll Down:=-12
Range("A12:A21,D12:I21").Select
on this example I want the file saved as "PrA4W05.xls", being the next week "PrA4W06.xls", and so on.
and on "H8:J8" the next saturday.
1) We need the Input screen to auto clear the fields once the " Save " button has been pressed and data transfered to the appropriate tracking sheet
2) We want to ensure that if any of the Red cells are empty the " Save " button will give an error ( one complication If the "Transfer Type" highlighted in Blue has an entry " either STD/ISD/ESP " then " Call Purpose " needs to be mandatory
3) somehow the information on the "Comment " field is not getting captured
4) If possible we want a warning indicator if two rows in a tracking sheet ( example London ) are the same based on Coloums B to I ( except C )
5) Is there any possibility to give a pop calender in the " scheduled date " section of Input screen (Row 33)
I want to be able to see the average rating for each employee.. Is there a way to put in the rating from one survey and have it automatically add it another cell and then have it clear the first cell?
Here is an example of what I would like to do: Say we get 2 surveys with one rating of 5 and one rating of 10... If I input the 5 into cell Q4 and have it automatically put into cell R4 and then it gets deleted from Q4 but saved to R4... and then I can add the rating of 10 to Q4 and it automatically ads it to R4 and clears Q4 and totals R4 to an average of 7.5.
This way, with each new survey I can just input each rating to Q4 and have it cleared for the next rating and then have an average rating of all the surveys in R4... we do not need to keep track of how many ratings we are getting, just the average rating.
I have attached the excel sheet if you would like to take a look at what I am trying to do..
I am trying to create a macro to run from a form button, within a report, to save a file to a variable file path and name depending on the date value in cell B5.
The format of B5 looks like - 13/08/2014 16:39
The file path has folders for each year in format "yyyy" with each year having sub folders for each month in format "mm".
The file name is just the date only and is formatted "dd.mm.yy" e.g. 13.08.14
I have tried the code below in various permutations but always end up with an error - Method 'SaveAs' of object '_Workbook' failed.

I have recorded the following marco and it works fine. I would like to modify it so the user would highlight a range of cells rather than have the fixed area :
"'ConsExecProp@20120920'!R4C5:R113C21"
What code lines would need to be added?
Application.Goto Reference:="R4C5"
ActiveWorkbook.PivotCaches.Create(SourceType:=xlConsolidation, SourceData:= _
Array("'ConsExecProp@20120920'!R4C5:R113C21"), Version:=xlPivotTableVersion12 _

I am trying to make a save&close workbook macro.
I found several examples on google, but unfortunatly it conflicts with another macro I use for forceing users to enable macros (hide all sheets except one if macros are disabled).
The attached file is an example contaning the save&close code and the show/hide sheets depending on macros enabled.
If the file is opened with macros disabled then only one sheet will be visible.
If the file is opened with macros enabled other sheets are visible.
The problem if that this code uses a custom save, witch makes the save&close not save... (in module1 and in ThisWorkbook)
The pourpose of the save&close is to make sure some users don't forget the excel open and thus block access to it. So if a certain idele time passes excel has to save and close without any confirmation messages.
I have a workbook with a "master" sheet which contains all the data required and has "sub" sheets which segregate the data into different categories, What I need to do is input data on the status of the row in the sub sheets and save it to the related cell in the master worksheet, Is this possible or would I have to do a copy & paste macro?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an excel file with several rows of data in it, and have a macro currently written to fill out a blank form from the information in a given row. I was wondering if there is a way to prompt the user to input which row you want the data to be pulled from.
For example:
Which row to input data from?
- 4
Then have the macro run, pulling the data from the cells in row 4, rather than row 2, which is how I have written it to begin with.
I didnt write the code from scratch, I just used the record function and it traced my actions, and does what I want it to do, but only for the data in row 2...and I want to be able to specify which row to pull data from.
I am trying to write a VBA macro that will mimic what i have already done in an excel worksheet i have made. The excel worksheet uses inputs for a heat exchanger and finds the temperature as it leaves the heat exchanger. This temperature is then the new input for the second line of the worksheet and it changes quite a few of the values in the sheet. I have the excel worksheet working where you just drage the row down and it does it automaticly, but i would like to have a VBA macro that all the values can be input in with the number of cycles until the heat exchanger equalizes out.
I am able to get the macro to work when it calculates just the first cycle, all the equations work my variables are ok for just one time. What i don't know how to do is make my program realize that it has to use the calculated temperature out of the heat exchanger as my new input for the heat exchanger. I know how to do it once so it is more of a syntax or understanding of a loop or an array for the values that are changing.
With guidance from this board in the past, I was directed to a macro that sorted information on a sheet (using values in column 1), opening a new sheet named by the sort title then copy/pasting all the relevant entries
The only restriction for this macro is the fact it is set to only sort information on sheet named Sheet1
I wanted to change this to an InputBox so the user can tell the macro which sheet to sort
i need a macro to insert the formula i have in Column M row 3, and insert it all the way down to the last letter that is contained in column k. So in this example The Last Letter in Column K is AQ, ( i dont physically mean last i mean last in alphabetical order in excel , such as ( W X Y Z, AB, AC , AD ) AD would be last.
So since AQ is last it would insert the formula 43 times, which is AQ. THe AFter tab should clear any confusion up because this is how it looks finished. I use various sheets like this so the last letter changes, so having this macro be dynamic and not attached to a sheet name would be ideal.
I would like to do a Macro which requires user to go to a specific line which is variable in each work sheet. I would like to be able to enter the number and then delete all lines below that point and then continue with the balance of the macro.
Is there an easy way to pause the Macro and then restart it? Or is there a code that I can insert in the Macro to locate a specific Cell and then delete all lines below the next line?
I am looking for a macro which will help make my workbook more user friendly.
Is it possible to have a macro which when run brings up dialog boxes for user input into certain sheets etc.?
I have a document with multiple sheets that contain data for a specific date and are set up in chronological order. The last sheet(Final Sheet) has each row as a different date in a chronological range of 3 yrs and each row has 5 cells of data.
I need to write a macro that will take a 5 cell row from each sheet and place it in the correlating date/row in the Final Sheet. Each sheet is labeled as the date for which the data is from so the macro needs to match the sheet title to the date in column A of Final Sheet. Then place the 5 cells from the sheet into the correlating date/row. The macro would need to loop through and do this until it reaches the Final Sheet.
However, with this macro I am wanting to remove the Input Box that pops up and requires the user to hit 'enter' everytime the macro runs. Instead, I would like the macro to automatically insert the rows based upon the value of cell A1 without having to confirm with the Input Box.
Code:
Sub InsertRowsAndFillFormulas_caller()
Call InsertRowsAndFillFormulas
End Sub

Because I am such a novice with coding, if the response could be in a form where the entire macro code is spelled out on what needs to be changed. That way I can just copy and paste the macro response instead of having to try and figure out how to apply your suggestions to my existing code.
I would like to write a macro that would start by asking me something along the lines of, "Enter student # you want to print a report about." The # I enter would need to be stored as a variable in the VB code, and then my code would need to use the variable to do some search and replace operations. (Replace all instances of 10 (the default student number) with the variable I have specified).
I don't really know how to even start going about this. How do I get Excel to ask me for a variable, and then use that variable in code?
I have this macro in which the user clicks a button and it formats a file for them. I want a box next to the button where the user can enter a number first then click the button and then the file will use that number to calculate a column. Any help is appreciated.
For example part of my macro is this.
Lcol = Range("IV5").End(xlToLeft).Column + 1
Cells(5, Lcol) = "Total Cost"
Worksheets("sheet1").Range("u6").Formula = "=IFERROR((RC[-1]/RC[-3])*the number the person entered first,0)"
Lrow = Range("A" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).row
Range("u6").AutoFill Destination:=Range("u6:u" & Lrow), Type:=xlFillDefault
With Range("u6:u" & Lrow)
.Copy
.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlAll, Operation:=xlNone, SkipBlanks:= _
False, Transpose:=False
End With
Application.CutCopyMode = False
I have a very simple macro for recalculating formulas and printing the page.
I need a way to show an input box where the user can say how many times to repeat the process i.e. 2x = recalculate, print, recalculate, print.
Due to the economy we are only scheduling days to work one week ahead which leads to alot of phone calls. The gaurds who get the calls then search thru a printed spreadsheet looking for a clock number or last name. I realized right away they should just look at the file on the computer and due edit - find. The problem is they due not use computers unless printing and they looked at me like I was talking in a different language. So I want to edit this macro below so it will allow user to type in search criteria instead of using same search criteria every time. Here it is 70039. I also need to place a shortcut or button to this macro on the toolbar or sheet and do not know how. How do I stop "remove macro or enable when file is loaded"?
