What I want is to make date formatted cells change color based on a parameter related to the date. For example, turn to red 7 days before the date in the field, and back to green when the date has passed, or when it is changed (updated).
It's basicaly a payment reminder, so if this is not exactly possible, are there any other ways to do it? Maybe the cell turns red on a predetermined date each month, and back to green on another date?
-I have two columns
-In column "A" are listed values in black and red font color
-I need a SUM of values inside of column "B" where in the same row in column "A" value is written in red color.

I know of CTRL + ; but i don't really know how to get it to work as a macro, can't find a forumla that enters the static date, and i don't want to make a macro to copy + paste special the date when it happens.
So all i should have to do is entered text in column b, then it will add a time stamp, when that text was entered, it doesn't have to update.
Like all i need is this, but instead of the "now()" function, it will have another function that doesn't automatically update?

I would like to add a date to one cell (say A6) and have this do two things:
#1) this would add "Closed" to a given cell such a A5.
#2) and this would add a color to a group of cells like A1 through A8.
I have about 40 rows of A - Z columns. I want to color a row if a certain cell within that row (A-Z) contains a date (versus being blank). This is separate for each row. So if U2 contains a date, Row 2 (A-Z) is color such and such. I don't want to use conditional format, as this spreadsheet is generated by a web interface, is run frequently and requires a macro formatting each time.

I would like to have cell A2 in yellow color 334 days after the date entered in cell A3 and than in red color 365 days after the date entered in cell A3. Same thing for cell B2 related to date entered in cell B3. Yellow color in cells announces that check will expire within 30 days and red color that check has been expired.

The code works perfectly, however, if I save the workbook with a different spreadsheet on top than the spreadsheet referred to in this code, I get an error message: Method 'Range' of object '_Worksheet' failed.
I should state that I did change "Private Sub Workbook_Open()" to "Private Sub Auto_Open()".
I assume I need to modify the code but am unsure as to how.
I am trying to make a reference to tell me when my rigging gear is due for inspection. I want the cell to change colors when a date is in range. For example i would like a red cell when the item is due or past due for inspection. A yellow cell for when the item is 90 days out from the due date. i have used conditional formating and used =E$-30<=TODAY() and changed cell to red. but when i add another format, for E$-90<=TODAY() for yellow, it will not work.
Once this is solved, i will need to make the entire row change color.

I have a spreadsheet with specific dates down the left colum and I need that row to highlight when the date comes, and then return back to normal when the next date comes around and gets highlighted.

Upon opening a spreadsheet, I would like a macro to highlight the cell which contains todays date. This will be selected from a range of dates which are already populated in column B. Is it possible to have a macro which can select the cell in column B which contains today's date? If possible, please could you include the code for doing this upon opening the spreadsheet. View 4 Replies View RelatedI need to be able to enter text in a box, and from that box the formula looks at the text to see if it is in within strings of text in any other box in the entire spreadsheet. If the text is there, the box needs to turn green (or any color). If not, it stays the same. The catch is I need the formula to be in a separate box, and the Entered text will be in a blank cell, so the user (who is excel illiterate) will not be confused by the odd formula.
Example:
B1, B2, C2, D4, and D6 will have the items: XXX, YYY, ZZZ
B3 and B4 will have only: YYY
In the "search box" the user will enter XXX
B1, B2, C2, D4, and D6 turn green, while B3 and B4 stay as normal.
If they enter YYY in the search box, all of them turn green.

I have been battling with excel for weeks now trying to get some data to display the way I want it to.
The plan is to enter (into individual cells) some letters, some lower case, some upper case ie, A A a A a C d. Some of these will be displayed together in another cell like this: AAaA, AaCd. My problem is that I want them all to be displayed Upper case letters first, lower case second like this: AAAa, ACad. No amount of my inexperienced fumbling with excel's tools has worked so far.

I have a spreadsheet which I use to count the occurrences of a value against a range. Basically if the value is uppercase I count as 1 and for lowercase 0.5

in making this macro non case-sensitive. So when a user searches a company name in the worksheet they do not require to type in the company name exactly as it appears.
For example; when searching Microsoft they can type "microsoft" and the macro would take the user to Microsoft.
I would also like to know if it is possible to add a feature that keeps the search dialogue open so the user can search the next possible match. If the user was to type in "mirco" and the search would show the user any company name with the word micro in it.

is it possible to make a SUBSTITUTE finction non- case sensitive?
For example I want to replace all letters "e" and "E" in a cell.
I had to crash Excel because it had got itself into a pickle - run out of memory or something anyway it was chasing itself up it's own backside.
I rebooted to restore memory and ever since then my Context sensitive auto complete on VB statements, subroutines and functions has vanished and I can't figure out how to get it back.
How to restore this as I have some seriously complicated routines that are MUCH slower to code if I don't have this option.
I have recently taken on the task of creating a large protected program (without macros) that automatically updates a PowerPoint presentation. I created corresponding workbooks for each sheet in the original (master) workbook. The corresponding workbooks are then used to paste object into the power point presentation. The only problem is it will not update format (text color) changes into the corresponding workbook. I have solved half the problem with conditional formatting, but I want to conditionally format the color of text to two different colors blue if Aa and Red if all CAPS. how to differentiate between Standard word and All CAPS in the conditional formatting.
