on a macro i use to open, update a file and then save it in an archive.
Opening and updating the file is no problem, but i want to save under a dynamic name in a folder structure. This is a reoccurring task, and this way I update the same file each period but save a copy with the current data in an archive under a different name in the right place of a directory (archive).
My idea is to have a hidden cell in this workbook, where I can have the name calculated by simpe excel-formula, i.e. ="Filename_"&WEEK(TODAY())&"_"&YEAR(TODAY())&".xls".
The file should go automatically into an archive-directory, lets say C:data....archive2007 (2008, 2009, etc)
I want to add the last folder to my filename, so my macro knows the first part of the path and has to go look up the actual name it gets in order to be saved.
So I end up with a cell containting the filename: 2007Filename_35_2007.xls
Now I only need the macro which looks up this name, adds it to the hard programmed path:
C:data...archive
so that the file gets saved under as: C:data....archive2007Filename_35_2007.xls
this is how i start:
Workbooks.Open Filename:= _
"C:data....Filename.xls"
' here the file is updated...
Windows("Filename.xls").Activate
ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs Filename:= _
"C:data....archive'(how do i do this?)'", _
FileFormat:=xlNormal, Password:="", WriteResPassword:="", _
ReadOnlyRecommended:=False, CreateBackup:=False
ActiveWorkbook.Close
The following code stops at the red line with "Method 'SaveAs' of object '_Workbook' failed.
FF="xlCSV". It works fine if I replace
Code:
FileFormat:=FF
with
Code:
FileFormat:=xlCSV
Code:
Sub SaveIt(FileNm, FF)
Dim FSO As Object, a
Set FSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
If FSO.FileExists(FileNm) Then FSO.DeleteFile FileNm
If FSO.FileExists(FileNm) Then

I have a file that I save with a new version number each time I make major changes. The file name currently is: "Telephony Equipment Inventory v26 (Summary).xlsm". The "26" is the variable number. give me the vba code to ensure I open the file with the highest version number?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a running time sheet daily. It has 2 columns for Labor and 2 columns for travel
i.e. travel From / To 1300-1400 calculate 1 hour then travel home 1600-1700 1 hour this is calculated by the date entry 01/02/10 I have another calculation that tracks by the date i.e. 01/02/10 then Next job which all works fine.
The problem becomes how do I calculate a weekly total labor and travel by the date So added another column called weekly hour’s labor and use the Weeknum to determine which week is which day/date so the first Monday in January 2010 is week 2
2 problems
Having many multiple day / date entries are the same date x 7 days Monday –Sunday
(Relies on the date entered and the weeknum) 01/03/10 each line is complete however the dates carry over as does the time
When trying to calculate each row x 3 same date time then the value will be incorrect I need to calculate
Say 9.5 hour labor from the date 01/03/10 not 28.5 hours and then calculate the total weekly hours
01/03/10, 9.5 hours labor, 3 hours travel
01/03/10, 9.5 hours labor, 3 hours travel
01/03/10, 9.5 hours labor, 3 hours travel
i do have work and travel times for each job on the same line (separate columns) but I display the total here by date to summarize the totals
i have tried sum products and sumif to avail. I am using Windows XP SP2 with MS Office 2007
how do i calculate weekly hours by date and weeknum ?
Total Work per day
Total Travel per day

How would I save a file with the lastest version number after searching for the lastest filename in a folder and adding 1 to the name
ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs FileName:= _
"C:BarkingEMCOUTNOM_DA_" & (Format( Date, ddmmyy)) & "_EDF_BPL_" & V, FileFormat:=xlCSV
where V will be the version number in the format of 001, 002, 003 and so on
I have a column where I am convering the Date into a Fiscal week number.
For example 10/6/2009 is Work week 41
Now I want to show October Week 41
I need to add the month and the text "Week" before the week number. what is the formula I use.
I have figured out how to save the workbook using a variable to saveas but I would like to create a new folder to place the new workbook into. I have tried a few things a am not having any luck. I recorded a macro and the code it produced is as follows.

I want to save a 'worksheet' from an open workbook that I use for updating information to the same file path as the workbook with the date the file saved...
What I am trying to do is that I have an excel file with macros and it is a read-only file. In order for the user to save, I want them to only be able to save as a .xlsx file as it disables all macros. If for whatever reason, the user wants to save the file as another .xlsm file, they should be allowed but before they save, a "are you sure you want to save as .xlsm?" message should pop up.
All the options in the save as box should still be available in case they want to save in that particular format. Just that the .xlsx should be the default.
I have a spreadsheet for tracking jobs. Most everything is based off of week # rather than date. I am trying to get the stats page of the workbook to tally the total number of late jobs per week.The current week is taken care of because there is a function that automatically displays on time yes or no and I just set it to count the yeses or nos.The problem I am having is for past weeks.
I tried- =COUNTIF(Table2[On-time],"No"+(CountIF(Table2[Week # Hidden],"<Weeknum(Now())" but that doesn't work. I also tried isolating the < like this. =COUNTIF(Table2[On-time],"No"+(CountIF(Table2[Week # Hidden],"<"Weeknum(Now()) and that did not work either.
------ UPDATE
In response to using CountIFS I have also tried-
=COUNTIFS(Table2[On-time],"NO",Table2[Due Week '# Hidden],"<Weeknum(Now())") this just returns a zero value even when I have a late job listed three weeks ago.
I have a macro that copy one sheet of the Active workbook and sends it via email.
I need to add a code in this sheet so when one opens it from the email, with a command button to be able to save the file to specific, fixed folder on the local network with it’s original file name.
I am trying to open a website, then for excel to download the csv file, then for it to save it in a specific folder under a specific name and file format (excel).
I am successful at opening the website with the following code, but how to do the rest.
Sub Searchez()
Dim IE As Object
Set IE = CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application")
IE.Navigate "http://quote.morningstar.ca/Quicktakes/stock/keyratios.aspx?t=clwr®ion=USA&culture=en-CA&ops=clear" 'load web page google.com
IE.Visible = True
While IE.Busy
DoEvents
Wend
'IE.Navigate2 "javascript:SRT_keystuts.exportcsv()"
'this is the name of the download link as from when i hover my pointer over download link.
End Sub
I'm working on the following
Workbooks.Open Filename:= _
"D:CommondataIBMmainBRANCHBURG-PRODUCTS-BOM-ALUMINUM-UPDATE-" & Ucase(Format(DateAdd("y", 0, Date)), "YYYY-MM-DD")&".XLS"

What I'm trying too do is open a file, make an exact copy and save it under a new file name.
My problem is in the date formula the day is not always the same. In the sample case it's 03 at other times the day will change.
is there a way too get this too work irregardles of what the day might be?
I have a spreadsheet where I want to require certain fields to be completed then I want to have that file auto emailed. I have learned that I do need to have the file saved before sending otherwise the data will not appear in the email, so with this I want to have the file temporarily saved emailed then the temp file deleted.
Here is the code I have so far but it errors on the blue text, I did change the TempFileName from = "Copy of " & wb1.Name & " " & Format(Now, "dd-mmm-yy h-mm-ss") to = [C16] & "_" & [B6] & "_" & [D6]
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()
If Range("B6").Value = "" Or _
Range("d6").Value = "" Or _
Range("f6").Value = "" Or _
Range("E9").Value = "" Or _

On the attached Excel file, I have code that will insert a variable number of rows and copy and paste from and to variable positions. That all works fine when run from a command button, but when I try to run it from the Worksheet_Calculate by entering 1 in J1 or K1 (inrange cell is J1+K1 for testing purposes) the CommandButton1_Click sub runs continously until an error occurs.

If he sends ME the file, I can open it in excel and save it with any cases.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Workbook that already has a macro in it that will generate multiple sheets based on certain criteria.
For each of these newly generated sheets (numbered 1-6 in the attached example), I need to be able save each of them to a PDF file based on a unique name contained in a certain cell (in this case, each named is referenced in cell Q1 of each sheet). As such, I should end up with 6 pdfs based on the attached sample files.
The PDFs would ideally need to be landscaped and should be just 1 page per sheet.
In my attached sample workbook, you'll notice that I have a "PracticePrint" macro that doesn't quite get the job done. One other criteria involves not printing any sheet with the characters "1010" in it (my PracticePrint macro is setup to do that, but it fails to do much else).

I have in column A the frequency in weeks which I need an inspection to be done.
I have in Column B the last week in which the inspection was done.
I want to produce in column C the next week required to perform inspection.
So lets say:

If I add the 2 columns I get week 54. Is there any way I can convert that to read week 2?
I have written the following simple macro to import some data into a worksheet and then prompt the user to save the file in Excel 2003 format (the system to which we will upload this data does not accept formats later than 2003). The template is in "*.xlsm" format.
The code executes without error, but when the user hits the "Save" button in the "Save As" dialog box, nothing happens. The "Save As" box closes, but no file is saved.
Code:
Private Sub cmdImportData_Click()
Dim sFName As String
'On Error Resume Next
PrepData
CopyData
FormatColumns
'prompt the user to save the file in "*.xls" format
sFName = Application.GetSaveAsFilename("upload", "Excel files (*.xls), *.xls")

How can I set the SAVE AS file name to equal A1's cell contents? (More specifically, when I need to rename an existing open file and place my cursor in A1 and hit Save As, I need to new file name to automatically populate A1's cell contents so I don't have to retype the contents of A1.)
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow can I save worksheet from existing workbook as a new workbook with extension .xls or .xlsx depending on the version of Excel on which the original was opened and no matter the extension of original?
My code that I was trying to create all above does not work, because even if I am using Excel 2007, 2010 or 2013 it will still be saving only as .xls.
I want to create a macro that will select all the worksheets (names and quantity will vary) and saves the file as the current file's name but in PDF. Since I only know how to record a macro it specifies the worksheet names but I need it for various workbooks. The name will vary plus the number of tabs can go anywhere from 3 to 40.
View 9 Replies View RelatedHow to save a file, with file- name. but the directory is to be read in worksheet "towns" in Cell1 (brussels) and filename in worksheet "names" in cell B2 (i.e. winter), so it saves to c:russelswinter.txt as a wordpad or kladblok txt file, that keeps a number, so each time we push a button "go back from worksheet names to worksheet towns" the "number" that is saved in the txt document goes up by value +1. In Flemisch, the "old" code goes as follows, and saves the number in the txt file Factuurnummer7.txt. I presently have a macro that, when run, takes to conents of C4 and C6 and saves a new version of the file being worked on into a folder on my desktop. I love the macro with the exception of one part: I don't want to be prompted to overwrite the file if it already exists. How can I change this macro so that, when pressed, it overwrites the file without prompting the user and waiting for their answer?
Here is the current

I need to calculate and compare the extra number of hours worked less lunch time (0.5h per day) "per day sum by week" and total "per week" :
- number of hours above 40h per week;
- number of hours above 9h per day sum by week;
and keep the higher.
I've nearly found the formula to have extra hours for total week
=SUMPRODUCT(($B$3:$AK$3),--ISNUMBER($B$3:$AK$3),--(WEEKNUM($B$2:$AK$2+0,2)=AN1))-(SUMPRODUCT(--(WEEKNUM($B$2:$AK$2+0,2)=AN1),--ISNUMBER($B$3:$AK$3))*0.5)-40
But for total week I don't know how to sum per week hours above 9+0,5 per day
