May 8, 2006
I nedd to first log in and then specify the wanted time period ( i. e. week) before I extract the information. Is it possible to get the source code (as string) from the last focused IE-window.
The user is supposed to use output from xl to manually fill in new values on recently mentioned webpage.

I copied some columns of dates form a website into an excel workbook. Unfortunately excel does not recognise the text and therefore I can't sort the columns from oldest to newest.
I have tried the operations here [URL] as I though spaces might be the problem but with no success.

I copied some data off the web and there are a ton of cells with Currencies that I would like to take out the spaces infront of the numbers. Because without doing so, I am unable to use them in formulas.
so I would like to convert this ' $52,000' to '$52,000'
I tried the Trim(Cell) but that doesn't seem to work, this data does not appear to be text. I can't even change the format on it, doesn't make a difference.

basically you put a webpage addresses in column A and it imports the webapages and then uses tables "1" and "3" to cut data into a new sheet.
it runs until it gets to the end of column A and so has scraped all webpage addresses i have entered into column A.
unforunately now it does a couple (or sometimes none) then crashes.
runtime error 1004 - something about a file not being there?
Sub Macro2()
a = 1
Sheets(3).Select
While Sheets(1).Cells(a, 1) ""
urladdress = "URL;" & Sheets(1).Cells(a, 1).Text

I'm trying to use the CreateObject("MSXML2.XMLHTTP") technique to log in to my Amazon Seller Central account and extract the HTML page source of the URL. However, I simply haven't been successful with getting it to log in. I should note that I know very little about this technique, and simply copied and slightly modified the code from a website. It works when there is no log in. Here's an example of the
Dim URL As String: Dim HttpRequest As Object
URL = "https://sellercentral.amazon.com/gp/orders/fba-order-details.html?ie=UTF8&orderID=123-4940-3939039"
Set HttpRequest = CreateObject("MSXML2.XMLHTTP")
HttpRequest.Open "Get", URL, False
HttpRequest.Send
This is the code I use to get the page source when I don't need to log in. However, the URL I'm now trying to get to requires me to log in first. I've come across a couple different sites that offer the following techniques:
1) URL = "https://usernameassword@sellercentral.amazon.com............."
2) HttpRequest.Open "Post", URL, False, username, password

I want o write a vba code for below: I want to download and saves a list of webpages (and contents like images, animated GIFs, sounds, videos,...) as MHT Files (1 MHT file for each link from the list). In the below files there's an example of how it should look like.
Links
[URL]
I am familiar with the URLDownloadToFile function, but it doesn't download the webpage's contents. What I need is something like a URLDownloadToMHT function that downloads the entire webpage and its contents and packs it into a MHT file. The MHT file, obviously, needs to link the content files locally for offline browsing (I don't know exactly how a MHT file works, but what I mean is that src="http://www...file.jpg" should be replaced by src="file.jpg", something like that)
I am also familiar with softwares like WinHTTrack, that do something similar(with HTML files), but I think the downloaded files get too messy and disorganized, that's why I need something simple like MHT files saved in a folder of my choice. I need this Excel file to work in any Windows XP/Windows 7 computer, without dependencies from other files like third-party dll's or any other files.

I have 3 Work books - one (WB1) checks its version number against an online record and if they dont match it opens WB2 which then proceeds to download the updated version copy information from WB1 to its self which it then pastes into WB3
WB1 then gets deleted and WB3 Renamed to the old name of WB1
the issue i have is when i open WB2 using the button that also checks for updates on WB1.
WB2's code seems to just stop when it gets to the point of updating WB3 no error messages or nothing it just stops!
NewMasters(2).xls = WB1
Updater.xls = WB2
NewVersion.xls = WB3

I have previously used the following code to successfully pull out IE webpage source code for string manipulation.
Its a crude example to demonstrate the principle:
Public Declare Sub Sleep Lib "kernel32" (ByVal dwMilliseconds As Long)
Public IE As Object
Sub Sample()
Set IE = CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application")
IE.Visible = True
[Code] ......
However when I substitute in a Google websites address into the IE.Navigate command, the code runs to the "Source_Code = IE.document ...." line then flags up a Microsoft Visual Basic error. "Run-time error '438': Object doesn't support this property or method"
The webpage that I am trying to access is a confidential company site, so you won't be able to access it yourself, but starts with [URL] ......
The one thing that I have noticed about this website is the Privacy Report icon in the lower right status window (Picture of an eye with a restricted symbol in front). I don't know whether this is the cause of my problem, or purely an incidental observation.
Is there something peculiar with Google sites that means that the source code cannot be extracted in general, or is this an issue specific to my site ? Does the Privacy Report icon have any relevance, and if so how do I switch that off ?
Using :
MS Excel 2010
IE Explorer 8.0

Is it possible to check, with VBA code running some sort of "If" function in the background in an open workbook within which the VBA code is placed, whether a user is opening (or attempting to open) the VBA Editor? This should see any attempt being made, whether the user uses Tools>Macro>Visual Basic Editor, Alt + F11 or right clicking on the Excel icon top left to "View Code".

Two workbook, A & B. Code in B copies some data over to a sheet in workbook A.
It does this not problems if A has remained open, but if it has just been opened, I get a "subscript out of range" error at the "With Workbooks" line.
The bit in red is what I have recently added to allow workbook A to be closed unless needed. Since adding this, the debug error has emerged, even though there was no problem when workbook A remained permanently open.

I want the code to run when we open excel workbook "TEST" and it should open up all the workbooks one by one in the folder J:ABC and copy cells C2 and C4 values in the A and B columns of TEST workbook.
e.g There are 5 workbooks in the folder J:ABC so when the TEST workbook is opened then the code should run and open 1st workbook and copy values in cells C2 and C4 to it and close the workbook.
The code should run as below:
1st workbook:
C2 value will go in Test workbook B1
C4 value will go in Test workbook A1
Close 1st workbook
2nd workbook:
C2 value will go in Test workbook B2
C4 value will go in Test workbook A2
close 2nd workbook.
3rd workbook:
C2 value will go in Test workbook B3
C4 value will go in Test workbook A3
close 3rd workbook.
and so on It will be going to next rows in A and B columns.

I would need to get HTML source code from any given page. I know how to open a HTML page from Excel and I can do it with VBA, but how to get for example this page's source code?
I would start with making a sub that takes a string (the address) as an input parameter and finish with saving the source code of that address as an text file like c:code.txt
So something like
Dim webaddress as string
Sub GetSourceCode(webaddress)
'then some code to save the source code
End Sub

I need to check a website daily to see if a link has been updated. If it has been updated, the beginning of the link changes to a different date. Example: today link is www.10212009dave.com and tomorrow link may be www.10222009dave.com. Lets say the link is on www.gugg.com. The link does not change everyday, but I think a good way to see if it has been updated is to search through the source code in the html for that link.
Thus I would put www.10212009dave.com into cell A1 and tell excel to search the source code on www.gugg.com, and if the contents of cell A1 is NOT found, I'd display a message box stating the link has been updated.

I would like for the code to request what column to use as source data. As an example when the code first runs a pop-up box would ask for a column letter to use as the source, after entering the letter (or corresponding column number) the code will execute.
Code:
Sub Add_sheets_from_A()
Range("XA1") = ActiveSheet.Name
ActiveSheet.Name = ("Add_Sheets")

I am looking to read the source code for a website that keeps the stats for a hockey league in Sweden
For other sites i can use the code below and it works fine, but the site i am using to get the Sweden stats seem to keep the data in some type of a Java app (sorry still somewhat of a newbie) and doesn't work the same as the others
when i veiw the source code just by right clicking the page all the data i want shows up. When i try to use my code it doesn't get the stuff i want.
I have tried both objDoc.body.innerHTML and objDoc.body.outerHTML and i get different results but not the same as right clicking on the page and viewing the source, is there another command that i can use to get it all?
the website is
HTML [url]
Sub Get_Stats()
Const strURIpre As String = [url]
Set ie = CreateObject("internetexplorer.application")
ie.Navigate strURIpre
Do
If ie.ReadyState = 4 Then
ie.Visible = False
Exit Do
Else

I am in the middle of building a macro for some data to be automated. I have two sheets, one of which has an existing chart but the data has been removed so now there is no values on the chart. I then have a second sheet with data on it. The range is b4:c16. I want to point this data onto my chart on the other sheet.

Ultimate goal is to automatically update the source data for 4 pivot tables that are on 1 worksheet. The data for those 4 pivot tables are on 4 different worksheets w/in the same workbook. Consolidating into one dataset is not an option.
I'm familiar with a dynamic named range, but the 4 worksheets that contain the data are replaced daily via automated Access output which creates an error.
I know how to do this adhoc by matching the pivot table names with their respective worksheets, but there are many other documents with similar layouts where this would beneficial.
Below is an example of how I currently update 3 pivots on separate worksheets w/ the same data range which is w/in the same workbook. My proposed changes are below the current. Any ideas on how to return the workbook name as a string...Or am I going about this the completely wrong way...

my existing macro, as the run takes to much time to complete. (at least 20min) I've already tried several loops, but no one worked for me. Following situation: There are two excel files, entries in column 73 - 85 will be copied from WorkbookRust to the other workbook if the numer in column 5 is the same. Not every cell within this columns contains data, so the macro should automatically jump to the last entry in each of the above mentioned columns, instead of predefine the range as you see in the code below. After the data is copied to the other workbook, it will be filtered acc. to Sub FilterMain and then copied back to WorkbookRust. As already said, the whole thing works, just to lame.
Sub Allmacros()
Dim WorkbookRust As String
WorkbookRust = ActiveWorkbook.Name
ChDir "C:Documents and Settings vogtMy DocumentsRüstplausch"
Workbooks.Open Filename:= _
"C:Documents and Settings vogtMy DocumentsRüstplauschCH_Revenue_2008.xls"
Sheets("Main_Overview").Select
Windows(WorkbookRust).Activate
Application.run ActiveWorkbook.Name & "!UpdateEntries"
Application.run ActiveWorkbook.Name & "!FilterMain"
'not ask to overwrite existing file
Application.DisplayAlerts = False
Workbooks("CH_Revenue_2008.xls").Save
Workbooks("CH_Revenue_2008.xls").Close
End Sub
Sub UpdateEntries()......................
