Feb 16, 2010I have coded a user form to automatically unprotect a sheet, then protect it with a password after data is entered from the User Form. Works great. However, after it is protected through the User Form script, I cannot unprotect the sheet to edit it. It will not recognize that it is the correct password, although it is.

How To Protect Shapes From Being Inadvertently Moved By User
Feb 5, 2014I did create a group of two shapes. One square and one circle. The main reason behind grouping them is to have them rotate around the same centre.
Now the problem of the usage of the shapes. I don't want them inadvertently shifted by the user. The rotation of the circle will be wobbly.
The circle is rotated by a module. Protecting the sheet makes the rotation of the circle stop working.
My thought was to overlay part of the sheet by an Active X label and set the BackStyle to transparent and there is no need to protect the whole sheet.
The problem now is that when I click on the label it turns white, and as soon as I move the cursor out of its perimeter the "underlying" circle will become visible again.
How to prevent this behaviour of the label. I want the label to stay invisible and protect the underlying shapes from being moved.
Protect/lock Cells After User Input
Jan 9, 2009Have a worksheet that will be used multiple times. User will enter name and employee number only on the first instance that the worksheet is opened. Would like to protect that info automatically for further usage. Most of the worksheet is protected but some cells need to remain unlocked so the "whole" sheet protection will not work.
How do I protect only specified cells, say F3, G3, H3, I3, after the user enters data thru an input box without changing any other protected cells on the sheet?

Its a crude example to demonstrate the principle:

However when I substitute in a Google websites address into the IE.Navigate command, the code runs to the "Source_Code = IE.document ...." line then flags up a Microsoft Visual Basic error. "Run-time error '438': Object doesn't support this property or method"
The webpage that I am trying to access is a confidential company site, so you won't be able to access it yourself, but starts with [URL] ......
The one thing that I have noticed about this website is the Privacy Report icon in the lower right status window (Picture of an eye with a restricted symbol in front). I don't know whether this is the cause of my problem, or purely an incidental observation.
Is there something peculiar with Google sites that means that the source code cannot be extracted in general, or is this an issue specific to my site ? Does the Privacy Report icon have any relevance, and if so how do I switch that off ?

The ultimate task I am trying to accomplish is to allow the user upon hitting a button to select the file that would feed the pivot table. The code below is what I got by linking the initial source file to the pivot table. As I can see the source file named "4 Port.csv" is listed in the SQL-like statement. How do I go about allowing the user to pick the file from the "open file" dialog?

Protect VBE Project Using Code
Mar 31, 2009Is there a way to protect a VBE project using a macro instead of going to the properties and manually typing in a password? I'm using a macro that emails just one worksheet in my workbook (creates a new temp file, emails, and deletes it) but when the new file gets to the recipient the VBE project is unlocked.
I found a way to protect the worksheet before saving the temp file, so the worksheet is protected as it should be, but the project explorer window is completely open. Then anybody can see the passwords I'm using to protect the sheet in the first place. So I need to somehow re-protect the project before it saves and emails.

The saving part of the macro is working perfectly, however I cannot get the protection to work. It must have a password - I do not want the receipient to be able to go 'Tools' > 'Unprotect Sheet'.

Sep 22, 2008I would need to get HTML source code from any given page. I know how to open a HTML page from Excel and I can do it with VBA, but how to get for example this page's source code?
I would start with making a sub that takes a string (the address) as an input parameter and finish with saving the source code of that address as an text file like c:code.txt

The link does not change everyday, but I think a good way to see if it has been updated is to search through the source code in the html for that link.
Thus I would put www.10212009dave.com into cell A1 and tell excel to search the source code on www.gugg.com, and if the contents of cell A1 is NOT found, I'd display a message box stating the link has been updated.

For other sites i can use the code below and it works fine, but the site i am using to get the Sweden stats seem to keep the data in some type of a Java app (sorry still somewhat of a newbie) and doesn't work the same as the others
when i veiw the source code just by right clicking the page all the data i want shows up. When i try to use my code it doesn't get the stuff i want.
I have tried both objDoc.body.innerHTML and objDoc.body.outerHTML and i get different results but not the same as right clicking on the page and viewing the source, is there another command that i can use to get it all?
