ActiveX Listbox On Worksheet
Sep 29, 2012
I have two listboxes on a worksheet and using VBA to load values into the listbox. I also have a combobox that is used to determine what values are to be displayed in the listboxes. I select a value from the dropdown list and depending on the value selected, a list gets populated in the listbox. This works just fine.
The problem I'm having is that when I adjust the zoom on the worksheet, 75% for example, the listbox automatically changes the width when new values are displayed. I try using the listbox1.width = xxx, to keep the width in place, but that doesn't really work.

Is it possible to disable and ActiveX listbox, but allow the scrollbar to work?
Or, prevent selections without changing the enabled property?
I'd like to populate my list with items that are for information purposes only.

I have some code for changing the scale of my chart axes so that when new data is inserted into the column which the chart sources from (say column B), the axis scales on my chart will automatically adjust (as the Excel algorithm sometimes leads to charts which are a bit squashed). This code works fine, and I have included it below.
I have then tried to introduce an ActiveX listbox so that when you select an item in the box, the reference number generated (1,2,3...etc) then determines which data series is inserted into column B using a vlookup function. However, when I do this, the original VBA code for automatically adjusting the chart axes no longer works.
Option Explicit
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
With ActiveSheet.ChartObjects(1).Chart
[Code].....

successfully use Activex combobox on the worksheet, (excel 2003)
without the code from other boxes being triggered at random.
Or should I give this up, and use a form to house these controls? ( I have no Knowledge on this)
I've tried certain IF then statements to protect the excecutable, but it seems, that, even boxes in other books are looked at, with a simple call statement (to a macro in module)
Having a real problem in Isolating these things.
Try to get the code to activate when you select the same Item twice, It seems none of the procedures do this. I made a workaround with using two procedures, but it's a bit clumsy.

How do I reference the value contained within a combobox using VBA?
I have tried the following:
ActiveSheet. OLEObjects("cmbSearchType").Object.Value
ActiveSheet.OLEObjects("cmbSearchType").Value
Sheets("mySheet").OLEObjects("cmbSearchType").Value
Sheets("mySheet").OLEObjects("cmbSearchType").Object.Value
I'm wanting to use the drop-down combo box as a simple way for the user to choose what type of search they wish to perform on the spreadsheet. The search algorithm chosen depends upon the current value show in the combo box.
I am using Excel 2007.

I have several textboxes that are not on a userform; they reside on worksheet A. I want to format these textboxes so that they only accepts numberical values (like 500,000....no dollar sign and no cents needed). After typing in 500,000 lets say for this example, I want to paste it into a cell in worksheet B (I can actually handle this part). What iIcan't handle is:
Formatting the textboxes so that they only accept numbers (or display a message if a number is not entered) Display the 500000 as 500,000 in the textbox without the user having to enter a comma Hitting enter or tab to get the value from the textbox into the cell in worksheet B. It only pastes it into worksheet B when I click on another cell. That doesn't seem like the right way to enter data.
I am wondering if I just should have used a userform and added the controls onto it. I have 8 sets of 5 user controls; I thought this would be easier.

I created a macro to create command buttons on sheet 1 of my worksheet. The created buttons using oleobject and class type: forms.commandbutton1, creates an object with no properties on the sheet (i.e. if you right click on it excel thinks it's an object and not a control.) Is there a way to create it as a control?

On a worksheet, I have several commandbuttons. For many of the buttons the name in the "name box" is different than the name in the "(name)" field under Properties.
Researching this, I found this on msdn2.microsoft.com:
An ActiveX control on a sheet has two names: the name of the shape that contains the control, which you can see in the Name box when you view the sheet, and the code name for the control, which you can see in the cell to the right of (Name) in the Properties window. When you first add a control to a sheet, the shape name and code name match. However, if you change either the shape name or code name, the other isn't automatically changed to match.
So, in my case, one button has:
In the name box: "CommandButton5"
In the (name) properties field: "RunProcess"
The real problem arises when I'm using code to loop through the objects on the worksheet, and build an array of the object names. I'm trying to match the name of the buttons to their click events. In the code, "btn.name" returns the name found in the "name box". The one that I want is the name in the "(name)" field under properties because this is the one that matches the click event.
How can I determine, in code, what is entered in the "(name)" field for an object?

I have a workbook with two worksheets, "Main" and "Control".
Both of them are with hidden tabs (unchecked "show sheet tabs").
On worksheet "Main" I have command button which opens worksheet "Control".
The assigned makro is: Sheets("Control").Select
The problem is: when I open "Control" and close after that the workbook, the next time when I open the workbook "Control" pops-up instead of "Main" even though I do not save it.
1. I need macro on "Main" which will allow me to open "Control".
2. Regardless I "Save" or "Don't Save" "Control" when selected and workbook is closed, to open the workbook always displaying worksheet "Main".
I use Excel 2007 (at home) & 2010 (at office).

Here is what I'm trying to create: I've put a command button on my worksheet that pops up a user form with a list box, an "insert" command button, and a "close" command button. I want to allow a user to make multiple selections in the list box, click the "insert" button, and have the selections inserted into the worksheet at a specific cell and fill down. I'd also like for it to allow the user to re-open the user form and add to the list after closing it.
I've hap-hazardly set up the list box for multi-select, but I'd like to see how it's "supposed" to be done! Also, as it stands, my list box selections will populate any cell that happens to be active at the time the initial command button is clicked. I've searched this forum and found that folks have posted similar questions. Those who replied posted a link, which I tried to follow but the page that followed could not find the file.

I can easily put a listbox into a spreadsheet and fill it with a rage of data from a sheet, however I am looking to create 2 listboxes where one will be filled with hidden spreadsheets within the workbook and the other with non hidden, to give the user the ability to move one from the other. The problem I am having is that I do not know how to call these created listboxes from in VBA. I can easily acheive this in useforms but would prefer it to be in the spreadsheet as I already have a number of userforms that fill data in a large number of spreadsheets that I want to hidden initially.

I have a list of six digit codes and I want to use these to populate a listbox based on the selection of a value in an existing listbox.
I have managed the following code by osmosis from various places:
Private Sub ListBox1_Click()
Dim Cell As Range
Dim Test As New Collection
Dim Item
Dim i As String
So what I'm trying (and failing) to do is add a clause that will increase i by one, add that to the collection "Test" and then add one again etc., etc.; until it reaches the maximum value for i in the list - in this case 187410 - but some codes run into the 20s. Other cases will give a different value for i.

I have a userform that does search using Name. If there are multiple records found it displays a message "There are X instances of (value in name)" and shows a list box. When user selects Find All, the multicolumn listbox gets populated. Selecting a row in lisbox populates the corresponding values in the userform. Problem is that selecting a row in listbox fails to select the corresponding row in the worksheet. As a result, if i change the values in the textbox (say for eg. Phone) the changes are updated in the row selected on the worksheet but not on the required row! Pardon my innocense, I am very new to VBA. find the attached worksheet. This is not my work, I found it during research. Auto Merged Post;Sorry the previous file had error. find the updated worksheet.

How can I adapt the following code to only show Columns; A, B, E, F and J from Sheet(3) into a Listbox called lbx_LiveAllocations?
As it stands, this code is only adding Column A. My only alternative has been to add all columns on the worksheet to the listbox, however there's a lot of unneeded information between.
Code:
Dim LR As Long
Dim ctrl As Object
Dim i As Long
Dim dic As Object
Dim arr As Variant
Set dic = CreateObject("Scripting.Dictionary")
[Code] ........
Erase arr

I have listbox of information set up to have a user choose several items. I want the items to then transfer to another worksheet. I am using the code I found here:
Private Sub CommandButton2_Click()
Dim lItem As Long
For lItem = 0 To ListBox1.ListCount - 1
If ListBox1.Selected(lItem) = True Then
Sheet2. Range("A65536").End(xlUp)(2, 1) = ListBox1.List(lItem)
ListBox1.Selected(lItem) = False
End If
Next
End Sub
But it is only moving The first item in a column, instead of all the columns of information. What do i do to get it to move all the information??

I have sheets named exactly the same as the entries of a listbox. Now I want excel to copy the value located in e35 in the worksheet previously chosen.
I tried th efollowing, but this doesn't seem to work. I simply recorded a macro doing what I wanted it to do (orange) but replaced the reference to the sheet with what I thought would be the choice the user made (green)
Do While continue = vbYes
UserFormware.Show
Cells(16, 4) = UserFormware.ListBox1.Text
Cells(18, 4) = UserFormware.TextBox1.Value
Sheets("UserFormware.TextBox1.Value").Select
Range("E35").Select
Selection.Copy
Sheets("Calculator").Select
Range("E35").Select
Selection.Paste
If UserFormware.ListBox1.ListIndex = -1 Then
MsgBox "You must select an item"
End If
Unload UserFormware
continue = MsgBox("Do you want to add another warehouse?", 4)
Loop
