VBA Commands For ActiveX Controls

Jul 24, 2009

I have made an Excel sheet that uses ActiveX controls (Option Box and Check Box). I have included a couple of screen caps at the bottom of this post to better explain the layout. Here are the specifics:

There is one Option Box Group labeled "InputOptionGroup" with choices labeled: "FirstOption", "SecondOption", "RefundOption" and "NoneOption".

Adjacent to the Option Box is a series of Check Boxes that correspond to the choice made in the Option Box with the exception of "NoneOption". The Check Boxes are labeled "FirstCheck", "SecondCheck" and "RefundCheck". Each Check Box object belongs to the group labeled "OutputCheckGroup".

I do know that the value of the Option Box choices and Check Boxes can be either True or False depending on if it has been chosen or marked, but I do not know how to incorporate these values into the action script. With that being said, here's what I'm trying to accomplish:

...when "FirstOption" is chosen, clear values of all Check Boxes and place a check mark in "FirstCheck".
...when "SecondOption" is chosen, clear values of all Check Boxes and place a check mark in "SecondCheck".
...when "RefundOption" is chosen, clear values of all Check Boxes and place a check mark in "RefundCheck".
...when "NoneOption" is chosen, clear values of all Check Boxes (no furthur action).

Also, there are a couple more requests:Is there a way to lock the Check Boxes from user input? I want the Check Box values to be altered only by the choice in the Option Box.
Take the "GPIN" field, the one on the right is locked from user input. This particular cell references user input from the "GPIN" field on the left. Is there a way to return a blank value when the input field is blank insted of returning a "0"? If you notice, all fields on the right reference blank values as "0".
In the left "Amount" field, I need to display a "$" followed by the value in the input "Amount" field

Deleting VBA Modules And ActiveX Controls

Sep 5, 2008

When I try to open a worksheet that has any sort of macros I get the "error opening file" popup with the request to send the error to Microsoft.

When I check the box to "recover and save file" and proceed I am told that repairs were necessary to save the file

The repairs stated are " LOST VBA MODULES" and "LOST ACTIVEX CONTROLS"

I have not changed anything to my knowledge.

Changine the macro security settings to low has no effect either

Conditional Formatting For Multiple ActiveX Controls

Aug 11, 2014

I have a workbook with multiple sheets. I want to add conditional formatting for a cell on 1 worksheet based on if multiple ActiveX controls are checked (checkboxes) on another sheet. I have 10 checkboxes (now LinkedCells named "G1" -> "G10") on worksheet "Data Entry". The formula should be if all 10 boxes are checked on the "Data Entry" worksheet, cell "A1" on the "Milestone" will be gray. Any clues on how to write the formula for this Conditional Format?

Programmatically Create ActiveX Worksheet Controls

Apr 2, 2008

I created a macro to create command buttons on sheet 1 of my worksheet. The created buttons using oleobject and class type: forms.commandbutton1, creates an object with no properties on the sheet (i.e. if you right click on it excel thinks it's an object and not a control.) Is there a way to create it as a control?

Excel 2003 :: VBA / Reference ActiveX Controls In A Cell

Oct 12, 2011

In VBA (Excel 2003), I'm wanting to get a reference to an ActiveX comboBox that is inside/attached to a cell.

I can iterate thru all the OLEObjects in the OLEObjects collection of the Worksheet and test the .TopLeftCell property to see if it matches my target cell. However, this seems like a long way around the problem - particularly if there's hundreds of comboboxes in the sheet.

Intuitively, I would have thought there would be a Cell.OLEObjects collection, but it appears that there isn't.

Is there a quicker and easier way to get a reference to the OLEObjects within a target cell?

Cell & Sheet Protection Basics

I have 2 spreadsheets: in a Sheet1 I keep some values and in a Sheet2 5 names of users with special rights (range A1:A5). I want to have sure that anybody will change/delete that names without password. Only the user "Administrator" can do that(I check the name of the user using "Application.UserName"). Additional question: is it possible to still protect those cells if somebody turn off macros during opening file?

Excel 2007 :: ActiveX Controls Command Button Opening Worksheet In Same Workbook

Feb 6, 2014

I have a workbook with two worksheets, "Main" and "Control".

Both of them are with hidden tabs (unchecked "show sheet tabs").

On worksheet "Main" I have command button which opens worksheet "Control".

The assigned makro is: Sheets("Control").Select

The problem is: when I open "Control" and close after that the workbook, the next time when I open the workbook "Control" pops-up instead of "Main" even though I do not save it.

1. I need macro on "Main" which will allow me to open "Control".

2. Regardless I "Save" or "Don't Save" "Control" when selected and workbook is closed, to open the workbook always displaying worksheet "Main".

I use Excel 2007 (at home) & 2010 (at office).

ActiveX Textboxes On Sheet Are Being Recognized As Pictures?

Apr 23, 2014

I have two text boxes on my sheet that I am using as a log in sheet. I am not sure what triggers them but they stop allowing me to type in them to log in and instead are recognized by excel as pictures and ask me if I want to format them. I have fixed them in the past by deleting them and adding new Active X text boxes to the sheet but then after a while they turn back into pictures.

By the way the text boxes have been named T1 and T2 and are used in VBA behind the scenes to determine if the details that are typed into them match existing accounts.

ActiveX Click Control--STOPS When On Another Sheet

Nov 23, 2007

RE: Macro ActiveX Click Control--It stops when on another sheet

Macro runs OK when run from menu.

An activeX click button was put on sheet B.

Right click the control, View Code, Paste in code from macro, then click button.

It runs the part of the macro that applies to sheet B, goes to previous sheet A, and then stops. The range select line for the named range on sheet A is highlighted in yellow. It stops when selecting any range or cell on sheet A, like B2.

Any idea why this code does not work on sheet A when ActiveX button is on sheet B? Is there someplace else that the control can go? Using Excel 2000.

See part of code below, which starts on sheet B:

' Macro recorded 11/22/2007

Range("SortAll").Select
Selection.Sort Key1:=Range("T2"), Order1:=xlAscending, Header:=xlNo, _
OrderCustom:=1, MatchCase:=False, Orientation:=xlTopToBottom
ActiveSheet.Previous.Select
Range("FormBase").Select (STOPS HERE)
Selection.Copy
Range("Formul").Select
ActiveSheet.Paste
ActiveSheet.Next.Select
FormBase is a named dynamic range
FormBase=OFFSET(A!$A$2,0,0,1,MATCH(1E+306,A!$2:$2))

VBA Array Basics

PHP
Dim B as Rangeset B = activesheet.range("A1:C3")Dim a(3) As Doublea(1)= 1.2a(2)= 3.6a(3)= .27

B is a 3x3 Matrix of values in your sheet

How would I perform matrix multiplication of B * array "a"?

My main problem is with how to reference then entire array "a" and how the data is being stored (is the array a 3x1 or a 1x3). And if there is a VBA MMULT command or if building my own or using the worksheet one are my only options.

Userform Basics

I have been looking into refining the way a couple of big macros that I wrote several years ago work and have decided that instead of loads of inputboxes that a Userform might be the way to go. I have never used them, don't know how to link code to the objects to make them work and can on make a guess as to the right way to start going about this. Need sort of Userforms for Dummies site where I could pick up the basics? I am going looking toward having a box come up where the user can enter about 8 pieces of data and based on that data the macro will then go off and open specific files anc change specific data.

Anyway I want the first line (the one that shows the dept) BOLDED. I thought I could do dhtis with conditional formatting, applying it the sheett all at once by saying if the value in row A > 0 then bold the line..........but I am not doing right...

User Form Basics - Populating Text Boxes

Sep 23, 2009

I am trying to create a user form to edit some named ranges. The VBA user form designer is basically the same as Borland Delphi, so building the form itself was easy. What I can't figure out is how to populate the user form with the data from the spreadsheet.

I have a number of text boxes on the form with names like txtTier1Slots, txtTier1Ceiling, txtTier1Floor, etc up to 4.

I have a defined name that corresponds with each item, Tier1Slots, Tier1Ceiling, Tier1Floor, and so on. I'm using defined names because they're referenced in Conditional Formatting on one of the worksheets in my project. They don't exist as actual cells, just name references.

I want to get the form populated with those values. I've tried about twenty variations of the following code, using ThisWorkbook, Workbooks, Cells, Range, Name, and just about every cell reference method I can think of. I've so many different error messages, my head is spinning.

ActiveX Collections Via VBA

Apr 19, 2006

I have a workbook which is a reasonably standard financial model (PL, BS, CF, etc). I have a control worksheet with a number of AcitveX controls (Command Buttons, Toggle Buttons and Combo Boxes) that drive the rest of the model (e.g., depreciation methods, trade terms, etc).

When the workbook opens I want to fill the lists of the various ComboBoxes, but I can't work out how to access JUST THE COMBOBOXES as a defined collection (e.g., MyWkSht.ComboBoxes[Index] or some such), or as a sub-type of a meta-collection (e.g., MyWkSht.Controls with Type="ComboBox"), without referring to them directly by name (e.g., MyWkSht.MyComboBox).

The ComboBoxes are NOT on a UserForm, but are embedded on the sheet as OLE objects.

I really don't want to have to hard-code the combobox names in directly, because I may need to add/remove them as the model develops - and anyway it's just WAY inelegant.

I select a value from the dropdown list and depending on the value selected, a list gets populated in the listbox. This works just fine.

The problem I'm having is that when I adjust the zoom on the worksheet, 75% for example, the listbox automatically changes the width when new values are displayed. I try using the listbox1.width = xxx, to keep the width in place, but that doesn't really work.
