I have several Activex buttons in sheet "Options" and I would like to automatically assign each button to the same macro "Run_Options", in order to execute the macro "Run_Options" when I do click over any button.
I want to write a VBA code that will place ActiveX Frame directly onto the worksheet and then add 3 Option Buttons from Toolbox into that frame.
I could not find an answer searching through the web... Also when trying to record macro and see the code it did not record placing the buttons from the toolbox or any formatting (color, caption, etc.) via properties...
When formatting the buttons it would be useful if the selected radio button would have different color, bold font, etc.
how to get some command buttons to stick in one place? I currently have two in a summary sheet. Each button runs a similar code which clears and deletes (by shifting cells upward) at the start of the process, then populates data.
It's rather annoying though that I cant have the buttons stick to one zone, they end up moving left or right depending on which button I press. Each report also changes column sizes, dont know if that's relevant?
On a worksheet, I have several commandbuttons. For many of the buttons the name in the "name box" is different than the name in the "(name)" field under Properties.
Researching this, I found this on msdn2.microsoft.com:
An ActiveX control on a sheet has two names: the name of the shape that contains the control, which you can see in the Name box when you view the sheet, and the code name for the control, which you can see in the cell to the right of (Name) in the Properties window. When you first add a control to a sheet, the shape name and code name match. However, if you change either the shape name or code name, the other isn't automatically changed to match.
So, in my case, one button has: In the name box: "CommandButton5" In the (name) properties field: "RunProcess"
The real problem arises when I'm using code to loop through the objects on the worksheet, and build an array of the object names. I'm trying to match the name of the buttons to their click events. In the code, "btn.name" returns the name found in the "name box". The one that I want is the name in the "(name)" field under properties because this is the one that matches the click event.
How can I determine, in code, what is entered in the "(name)" field for an object?
I want to be able to call one user form from multiple ActiveX command buttons. The problem is, the number of command buttons depends on user input on another worksheet, so it's variable.
I've renamed all of the command buttons so they are named "CommandButton" & i, where i is an integer between 1 and, say, 200. I want each of these buttons to direct to the same UserForm where additional information can be entered.
I can't think of a way around the event-handler procedure name.
Sub [Command Button Name]_Click
to call the User Form. I won't know the command button names, because I won't know how many there are (max i) until the user inputs.
Basically, I want to create a For loop through the max i and have the event-handlers call the user form
How do I assign a particular function to buttons contained in a Msg Box?
I have set up a Msg Box on a sheet so when you go to close the sheet the box opens and asks you if you want to open another sheet contained in the same workbook. The buttons are Yes and No. If the User clicks on the Yes button then Sheet 2 will (If I can figure out how)open from the same workbook. If No is chosen then the workbook will close. I have the Msg Box set up and working but I need to find out how to assign the functions to the Yes & No buttons.
There are 10 rows of data, and would like to assign value at the end of each row as "initiated" "In the process" "Needs to be Reviewed" "Completed", by using Buttons with different macros.
I have an issue with some excel spread sheet I am working on.
I am using Macros, Buttons to assign values to a text box.
When I do not protect the worksheet no problems.
When I include my calculation sub into my Worksheet Change module. It sort of works but flashes a lot, and takes about 6 or more seconds.
When I dont include it in the Worksheet change module it doesn't flash and seems to work fine.
When I protect the work sheet, in my code I unprotect it and try to run my code, but it wont go through. I get an error.
Run-Time error '1004': Application-defined or object-defined error
Worksheet Module Option Explicit ' Force the declarations of all variables in this module Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) 'Unprotect
'Call Calculate_Decision If Range("MoreBorrowers") = "Yes" Then Rows("21:27").Hidden = False Else Rows("21:27").Hidden = True End If If Range("GuaranteeYN") = "Yes" Then Rows("159:167").Hidden = False Else Rows("159:167").Hidden = True End If
I have tried adding in the Me. before my Range but nothing seems to work.
I am trying to create a worksheet that has multiple radio buttons. Each radio button is linked to a Macro. I need there to be many buttons running down one side of the worksheet. Each button needs to perform a macro that is relevant to the cells in the same row that it is on.
Essentially what i am trying to do is make a macro that when the button is pressed copys data from H6 and paste it into B6. The button is situated above I6. I need a button for each row from 6 to 110.
While this macro is easy to create (i use the record button and then assign the macro to the button), i would have to do this 104 times and assign a new macro to each button.
I needed to put a Checkbox on a Worksheet. The standard Checkbox options in Excel FormControl and ActiveX Control were too small. I found a work-around using the following macro attached to an ActiveX Label that was formatted as Wingdings font. The macro basically changes the character from a empty box Wingdings Chr(168) to a checked box Wingdings Chr(254) when the user clicks on the label.
Private Sub Label1_Click() If Label1.Caption = Chr(254) Then Label1.Caption = Chr(168)
[Code]....
But I get this error on an ErrorHandler that I have included in the macro. "An error has occurred. Error number =438. Error Description=Object doesn't support this property or method."
I have a spreadsheet with multiple brands on it, and I've added an ActiveX listbox that allows you to select which brands you want to view (Brand A, Brand B, or "all brands"). It works great, however it appears that my macros are running on workbook open.
None of my macros (and there are several) have the "Workbook_Open" code in them, so I'm not sure what's going on?
It really doesn't do any harm, except that someone opening the workbook has to watch excel flash and blink and go through all of these steps/calculations evertime you open it.
I thought Excel might be treating the "workbook open" as me making a selection on one of my listboxes (even if it was already selected) and thus running that macro, but the same thing happens even if I save the workook to display a sheet that doesn't have a listbox.
ETA: From what I've read, activeX controls are always autoloaded when a workbook containing them opens. That's unfortunate. Am I out of luck here for a speedy workbook open?
Is there a way to store two pictures in a hidden sheet (Sheet1) and have an Image ActiveX box in all visible sheets, and use a macro to auto select an image to occupy that ActiveX box?
Can Active-X control button macro be placed in a regular module, or does it always have to reside in the sheet module? Or is the only way to accomplish this is to have the macro in the regular module being called from the button macro in the sheet module?
I somehow seem to remember a way to move/assign an Active-X ControlButton macro to a regular module, but maybe I'm wrong?
I written VBA code to create a new sheet and embed a command button on it. I want to assign a macro to this button but when I click on the button the assign macro button is greyed out. I have plenty of macros saved and the VBA code has finished running so why should this be?
While practicing writing macros and studying the VBA code, I decided to add a button to run the macro, something I've done many times in the past. But the option to associate the new button with any macro doesn't seem to be available.
From the Control Toolbox I click on the command button icon. I positon the mouse where I'd like to place the command button and draw the command button. Then right click to open the drop down menu. A few days ago in the drop down menu I had an option Assign Macro but now I don't have it anymore. How is it possible to assign macros to the command button and even better how can I get the Assign Macro option back in the drop down menu?
I have designed a functioning userform which transfers the data (limited or complete) into the sheet. Along with the data and at the end of each row it automatically generates 4 checkboxes and links them to 4 offset cells.
This is where I hit a dead end. I am not sure which avenue is suitable or indeed possible. I want to click any checkboxes in the first COLUMN and as a result have it change the complete ROW colorindex of the background. I did achieve this with conditional formatting but it seemed to make the empty sheet bulking when saving and I cannot alter the font size which is another goal on the 3rd column of checkboxes. Am I waffling yet?
The 3rd column checkboxes I want to have the ROW font size drop to 3pt. The 2nd and 4th currently serve no purpose i.e. trigger nothing as a result.
I don’t think I can use the checkbox_click event as the boxes are generated for me so I don’t know which number they will be. The worksheet_change event and calculate event don’t seem to register when the linked cell goes to TRUE or back to FALSE. I tried using FORMS and CONTROLS checkboxes but neither has brought me success.
I was hoping the linkedcell would trigger an event and in turn select and manipulate the entire row in which the linked cell is located….
Due to my limited knowledge the code I have written/adapted to suit my needs may appear a little unorthodox? I hope that in itself is not a problem.
I have not managed to get the Controls Checkboxes to initalise blank. Currently they appear greyed out with a tick but fully usable? Of minor importance.
I can't attach the file because the blank sheet is 4.5MB?? so here is the main body of code from the userform. If you need anything else I will supply as required, however I can't get anyfiles under the attachment maximum of 48.8kb. My jpeg image was 108kb....
I have to modify 2000 files so I've written a master file that loops through a list, importing modules and forms into the 2000 files it opens and closes. On each file when open it draws a button on worksheet. I then want to assign a macro to the button called "ModifyMenu" . The code for 'Modifymenu' is imported into file_01.xls and is a unique name. It does not exist is master.xls, so no confusion.
The code for assigning the code is as follows :
Windows("file_01.xls").Activate ActiveSheet.Shapes("Button").Select or Workbooks("file_01.xls").Sheets("1 B").Shapes("Button").Select
Then
Selection.OnAction = "ModifyMenu" (This links to master.xls!ModifyMenu not file_01.xls)
Selection.OnAction = "file_01.xls!ModifyMenu" (This fails, runtime 1004. 'Unable to set the OnAction property of the button class)
Selection.OnAction = ThisWorkbook.Name & "!ModifyMenu" (This links to master. MAster is the active code even though 'file_01.xls' is the active worksheet)
Variations on the above seem to result in the same 1004 error or linking back to master regardless of the fact I'm trying to link to file_01.xls.
My macro essentially requires a deletion of the entire sheet, so I cannot run it through a button, it'd by definition be deleted. So I was thinking to run this macro through the keyboard, how to assign a keyboard key to existing macro?
i want to know how to assign a macro which will remove and place a number in a certain cell. so if i click and tick the box, then a certain figure will come into a cell(this will be a formulae) and when untick the the number will disappear.
I have a start page in the beginning of my excel workbook. This is where i want to assign a macro to a search button. I want the macro to search the entire workbook but only in a certain block on each worksheet.
I have been using Excel for some time now but just started working back with the Macros! Finally figured out that you had to turn on the Designer tab to get to some of the functionality of the macros. I haven’t been able to find ANYTHING ANYWHERE to tell me how to create buttons or Icons in the 07 Excel!
adding custom 16 x 16 buttons to toolbars, which weren't preset images or using the built in deisgner.
Was hoping there may be an add-in giving more variety of buttons or a way to import set images. Very frustrating as there are many microsoft 16x16 bmps / icons that would be ideal but the choice is extremely limited.
