Jan 22, 2009I have code which creates a tool bar which works Ok, however I can't get the statement correct to assign code to it.

View 8 RepliesI have created a toolbar with buttons that run macros. When the macro is assigned to that button the macro will run fine. However, when the file name of the excel workbook has changed (file relocated or name changed) then the macro (button in the toolbar) does not work and has to re-assigned in the toolbar. Is there anyway of getting around the problem of having to reassign the macro to the toolbar button whenever the file name/directory changes.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have created a custom floating toolbar that works perfect (thanks to all the reading on here!). My workbook is a stand alone estimating tool that many users will have a copy of.
I have two things I want to do yet but I cant find it on here.
1) My buttons on my toolbar - I want to have custom icons. I can do this temporarily but when I exit my worksheet and re-open they are lost. Is there anyway to save a custom icon. I am willing to add it to the icon list if necessary and then when users open the workbook copy the custom icons onto their computer. But I am not sure how/where I could do this.
Worse case, can I color my button text?
2) When my toolbar appears, it is wide, all buttons are going left to right. I want the size to be small width so the toolbar buttons are on top of each other. Any thoughts? I tried adding a .width but it didnt work.
I have a custom toolbar containing several buttons which run several macros. Works fine except on exiting the programme and re-opening the workbook, if I try to use the custom buttons I get an error message which tells me it cannot find the ' name of workbook, name of macro' macro I then have to re-assign the macro which has been there all the time but without the file name in front of it.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am creating controls on a Userform on the fly. A shortened example of my code to create a button is below:
Set BtnEdit = .Controls.Add("Forms.CommandButton.1", "BtnEdit", True)
With BtnEdit
.Left = 220
.Top = 85
.Width = 50
.Font.Underline = True
.Caption = "Edit"
.Enabled = True
End With
What I want to do is assign a pre-existing sub-routine to the button, at the same time as I create it. I have tried using
.OnAction = Mysubroutine
Is there a way to permanently hide the toolbars and protect the workbook that when others open the document, they will not be able to view or have access to this.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create an inventory list that automatically updates the supply quantity when items are taken away from inventory. I have created entry cells where the quantity of items taken out of inventory can be entered (example, cell F2 of the attachment), and the new overall inventory count is adjusted accordingly for each stock of items (example, cell B3). These automated adjustments are repeated for each subsequent row for every time items have been taken from inventory and recorded.
I managed to get it to do what I originally intended with exception of the fact that it still present values on rows where there were no activity - or quantity of items taken from out of inventory (row #6 and beyond of the attachment). Is there a way of "hiding" these values without removing the formula, or possibly set conditional formatting where no values are displayed if no changes in inventory has been entered?

Using Excel 2010
Code:
Sheets(Array("Sheet 1", "Sheet 2")).Visible = False
How do I convert the above to using Sheet Codes Names, Sheet1 and Sheet2?
Want to ensure my code will work if the user changes the sheet name.
How many sheets can be created in Excel 2010? Is it depend on memory PC or is any limit within Excel?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI need to creat a bunch of sheets and do the same work for each of the sheets. My problem is that I do not know how to refer them by the created name. Here is an example of my codes:
Sub test()
Dim I As Integer
For I = 1998 To 2010
Sheets.Add.Name = I
Sheets("Number").Activate
Range("A1:A3").Select
Selection.Copy
Sheets(I).Select
Range("A1").Select
Selection.Paste
Next I
End Sub
The error is "Subscript out of Range". I believe it is because when I refer a sheets(I), (I) does not recognize as the name of the sheet but the number of that sheet, and there is no sheet numbered 1998 or bigger. However, If I refer the sheet as sheets("I"), it can not find the sheet named "I" either.
How should I refer those sheets name so that I can do some work?
using excel 2003.
I have the following code to display a toolbar everytime my template is open
'Show Custom Toolbar "Trade Log" on Workbook Open
On Error Resume Next
With Application.CommandBars("Trade Log")
.Position = msoBarFloating
.Left = 5000
.Top = 600
.Visible = True
End With
End Sub
(hope i wrapped the code quotes correctly this time ))))
I noticed that when you drag a custom toolbar to the far right of your screen - it locks in to a vertical toolbar space.
How can i position my toolbar in this place automatically by modifying the above code.
my 1st sheet like this : A1="Reg.No."
B1="Name"
i want -when type a No.&Name in A2 & B2 to inserted a new sheet (sheet2)which is it's name is that No.&Name and also a link between the cell and sheet...
I have a workbook with three sheets: Collections, Client and Interest New sheets created from a range in Sheets("Interest"). The range in Sheets("Interest") holds the client names.
Then the template in Sheets("Client") is copied and pasted into the new sheets
For each new sheets cell B6 holds the client name and .Range("A10:A1317") holds the dates
Sheets("Collections").Range("D10:D1317") holds the dates and .Range("D8:WC8") holds the Client Names
if Sheets("Collections").Range("D8:WC8") = new sheet.cells(6, 4) then
if Sheets("Collections").Range("D10:D1317") = new sheet .range("A10:A1317") then
copy the value in Sheets("Collections").Range("D10:WC10").offset(0, 3) to new sheet .Range("C10:C1317")
end if
move down on row and repeat the steps.
I have added a toolbar to an excel application that the company uses. I need this toolbar only to be accessed to this application and not any time that you open excel. I have used the following
Private Sub Workbook_Open()
Application.CommandBars("Rithin-Toolbar2006").Enabled = True
Application.CommandBars("Rithin-Toolbar2006").Visible = True
go_cover
End Sub
Private Sub Workbook_close()
Application.CommandBars("Rithin-Toolbar2006").Delete
Application.CommandBars("Rithin-Toolbar2006").Enabled = False
Application.CommandBars("Rithin-Toolbar2006").Visible = False
End Sub
This works but only If I accept yes when it prompts me to save changes to the workbook. Each time I open the workbook and close it, it prompts me to save changes to the workbook. I dont want to force a save on the workbook, meaning have code that will save the workbook before closing. I want it such that if the user opens the workbook, and makes no changes, he/she should just close it with no questions asked.
In my first workbook I select an area to copy/paste into a new wb with this code (from the board)
[Set source = Range("A55:K109").SpecialCells(xlCellTypeVisible)
Dim FName As String
Dim VBComp As VBComponent
Dim wbnew As Workbook
Dim x As String
Set wbnew = Workbooks.Add
Set dest1 = ActiveWorkbook
dest2.Activate
With ActiveWorkbook
FName = .Path & "code.txt"
If Dir(FName) "" Then
Kill FName
End If
For Each VBComp In .VBProject.VBComponents
If VBComp.Type vbext_ct_Document Then
VBComp.Export FName
wbnew.VBProject.VBComponents.Import FName
Kill FName
ElseIf VBComp.Name = "ThisWorkbook" Then
If VBComp.CodeModule.CountOfLines > 0 Then
wbnew.VBProject.VBComponents
The complete code in this workbook sends the entire workbook to one person and it creates a new workbook and pastes a range and the VB code needed to run the button it copies and sends this to another person.
The codes runs excellent in 2003. In 2007 I can get the entire workbook to send to the first person, but
The email to the second person will send, but they can not open the workbook. I get the error "File Format or file extension is not valid. Please verify file is not corrput and that extension matches file.
I know trust access to visual basic has to be enabled in 2003 for this code to run, so in 2007 I went to the Excel options trust center and clicked the box which says Trust access to the VBA project object model.
When I step through this code everything looks great. The worksheet area is correct, the button is copied, the code can be seen in the properties window, but then I get the email and it will not open.
There is even a line of code that kills the file after the mail is sent (temporary saving location is the desktop). So, I used a ' and made it a comment line so I could try to open the file from my desktop. It will not open there either. File extension being used is .xlsm
See the attached Workbook, which explains the problem easier.
View 9 Replies View Relatedwhich of these toolbars provides the better 'controls' to paste onto worksheets (as opposed to UserForms)? For those wondering, both toolbars contain some apparently similar controls, e.g., combo box, radio button, spinner etc. but there are differences in their behaviour it would seem...
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a code that adds a couple of ComboBoxes to a UserForm (the number of ComboBoxes is variable). Now that I want to control a certain ComboBox based on the selected value of another ComboBox (change or click event), how do I do that via VBA code?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have had the following written for me
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
For Each Cell In Target
If Cell.Column = 4 and Cell.row >= 17 and Cell.row <= 20 Then
If Cell <>"" Then
Cell.Offset(0, 3) = Date
Else
Cell.Offset(0, 3) = ""
End If
End If
Next Cell
End Sub
I wish to assign that code to a button on sheet 1.
I normally just right click the buitton and assign the macro, but on this occasion I can't. I think it's to do with it being a private sub.
I'm trying to assign a list box to a variable using Set statement, but getting an error.
View 8 Replies View RelatedYou can use VB to put a Range.Value or Range.Formula into a specific cell.
How do you assign a name to that Range using VB code?
B20 is the number that the user enters. It can be any number and it will create new sheets below and text of sheet name in B21:F21.
If i change the sheet name below, B21:F21 would also automatically change.
Does the line of code assign the value of cell A5 to the range or is it just a startinig point?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI can only export vendor codes from the General Ledger rather than vendor names. If possible, I would like for excel to recognize the vendor code and assign the appropriate name. For example, HCC stands for Human Capital Consulting. The GL includes the vendor code and the voucher number. If I export the vendor code HCC/V0007 from the accounting system to cell A2 in excel, I would like for excel to pick up everything before the / (in this case HCC) and enter Human Capital Consulting in cell B2. I have a vendor list in excel that matches vendor code with vendor. I just need for cell B2 to pick up the vendor code from the list.
how I can write code to create a button on a worksheets and then link to another subprocedure.
I tried recording a macro and this is what excel so eloquently gave me:
ActiveSheet.Buttons.Add(384.75, 60.75, 79.5, 39.75).Select
Selection.OnAction = "CreateImport"
ActiveSheet.Shapes("Button 1").Select
Selection.Characters.Text = "Parse Deposits for Import"
With Selection.Characters(Start:=1, Length:=25).Font
. Name = "Arial"
.FontStyle = "Regular"
.Size = 10
.Strikethrough = False
.Superscript = False
.Subscript = False
.OutlineFont = False
.Shadow = False
.Underline = xlUnderlineStyleNone
.ColorIndex = xlAutomatic
.TintAndShade = 0
.ThemeFont = xlThemeFontNone
End With
This works fine, my only problem is if the button that is created is actually named Button2 or 3, etc. Is there a way to assign the new button to a variable, or would it be an object? this way it wouldn't matter what it was named.
Excel 2003: I need code that, when an "x" is entered in a cell in the "Activity" worksheet to assign a temporary unit #, it will look for the next available Temporary Unit # in the "Assign" worksheet. Then mark that unit # as "assigned" (by placing an "X" in the column next to it) and copy it to a cell in the "Activity" sheet.
I will be doing the same thing with assigning different types of PO numbers. I figure if I have the code for the Unit #, I can use the same logic for the other assignments, with some modifications, of course.
I've attached a sample workbook.
If I am not considering the most effective way to accomplish what I am trying to do here, I have no ego at all about someone suggesting a better solution.
I'm verrry new to editing VBA code and I've been trying to figure out how to send a column of data ("Min Data" AB3:AB21 from "Sheet1") to a worksheet ("F4" - Min) and sending another column of data ("Max Data" AC3:AC21 from "Sheet1") to a different worksheet ("F4" - Max) by using only the one button ("Record Data" from "Sheet1"
I've been trying to figure out ways to edit the VBA in "Module 1" to make this work
Can anyone help me out here? If what i'm asking for isn't clear enough, just let me know and i'll try to explain in more detail.
I am trying to figure out a code where hides all sheets in "ThisWorkbook" veryhidden except the ones names "Template" and "Report" and "Product"
