I currently use spreadsheets to report on backup processes.
I am trying to speed up this process and one thing that woudl help me is a function that will automatically fill the row with a colour depending on the choice in the dropdown box, so if you choose 'successful' from the dropdown list the row colour would fill to green and if you select 'failed', the row would change to red and a choice of 'completed/errors' would result in orange.
This process is currently done manually and often results in errors like a succesful result with a red filling.
Is there anyway to automate this process? i was trying to whip up a macro, but have been unsuccessful so far.
I would like to automatically color fill a series of rows based on like information from a single column. When the information in the column changes then the rows would either stop filling (this would be best) or fill with a different color until the information changes again.
Summary: series of alternating rows would either be filled or unfilled based on changes from the column information.
Hope this isn't too confusing. Below is an example except I would want the cells filled, not the text or numbers to change. The highlight is changing based on the changing of the numbers.
I would like to automatically color the fill of a cell based on the cell contents.
For example, if the cell content is "1" I would like the color of the cell to be cyan and if the cell content is "2" I would like the color the cell to be red.
I've tinkered with several different formulas but I just can't get anything to work.'
I am a locksmith and attempting to write a spreadsheet app. for my line of work. The output page will use columns A-G and rows 1-?10000? depending on the size of the system. If a 5 pin system is requested then columns A+B will be blacked out. 6 pin system A is blacked out. 7 pin system nothing blacked out. Also, if any cell matches the master key that was input, that cell is filled with red. I know, confusing.
Basically, I am trying to remove the blacked out columns automatically, and to remove the enitire row is any cell in that row is filled with red. Then to remove blank lines.
I am trying to hide rows based on values in a cell in that row. I have formulas in column xea that yields a 0 or 1 and I want to hide all rows with 0.
The code below works but I have to run the macro. I want it to happen automatically when the cell values change and I have not been able to figure it out.
Sub HideRows() Application.ScreenUpdating = False Application.Calculation = xlManual
Suppose in cell A1 I type in the number "100" and in A2 I type in the number "5" What I want to do: Have the number "100" repeat 5 times in a vertical list (so 100 appears in B1, B2, B3, B4, B5)
I wrote a small code to hide some columns if a certain cell is equal to a certain string.
The cell is actually a drop down list and when they select a certain one, I want it to hide 2 columns. So I wrote the code with sub name Action, but I want it to be running all the time. I tried to achieve this by writing the following code however it gave me error 438 for my 2nd line.
Sub Auto_Open() Range("A1").OnEntry = "Action" End Sub
Auto Merged Post Until 24 Hrs Passes;Oh, by the way error 438 states: Object doesn't support this property or method
I wrote a macro to color the cell values in the rows based on their average value. For eg if the cell value is less than 0.2 Avg, they should be red color,if value is between 0.2 and 0.5 it should be yellow. This part is working fine
Now based on the color of the rows cells , need to write a macro for the header one. Logic is Coloum header should be in red colour, if in one or more number of rows cells are red. same with yellow ones. Could you please help me out in solving this with logic.
Summary of performance of various products against target is as follows,
Product vs Target Color Code Result
CH4OH Green 1.0
[Code] ........
I need the final result automated as follows,
If 2 green of the 4 products, then final result Gree If 2 Amber of the 4 products, then final result amber If 2 Red of the 4 products, final result Red
One of the action's on a large group of the controls is the same but except for one number
here is an example
If TextBox107.ForeColor = 255 Then ActiveCell. Offset(0, 53).Font.ColorIndex = 3 If TextBox108.ForeColor = 255 Then ActiveCell.Offset(0, 54).Font.ColorIndex = 3 If TextBox109.ForeColor = 255 Then ActiveCell.Offset(0, 55).Font.ColorIndex = 3
This makes a cell that correlates to the textbox red if the text in the textbox is red.
Now, I loads of these textboxes that all need to run the same code with just the Offset value one digit higher than the last and I was hoping I could create a loop to avoid a huge block of code but I can't work out how to make a constant that will +1 with each loop.
Also, can I assume that a loop will start with the control with the lowest number i.e. Textbox1 and then work its way through the rest of them in order?
This is probably elementary, but I'm struggling and would appreciate any help as I have very little excel VBA experience to draw from.
I have assembled code which changes the cell color based on a value change in Column A. Column A will contain many different groups of repeating values. This code works well and and I have been able to figure out how to limit the number of colors to only 2. The end result is each set of similar values in column A is visually grouped by one of two alternating colors.
The number rows in the data set is variable as the data set is extracted from SAP. The number of columns is fixed.
What I want to do now is set the cell color in columns B through F the same color that was assigned to the row in column A. So if cell A3 is set to colorindex = 6, then I want to set the range of cells B3 to E3 to the same color.
Here is the code I am using to set the color of the cells in Column A:
I have two columns. The first one (A) contains cells that have different Fill colors. The second column (B) contains text adjacent to the colored cells. I am trying to change the color of the text in the second column (B) to the corresponding color in the adjacent cell in the first column (A). I don't think conditional formating works well in this situation. I believe the solution would be some sort of macro.
I have various row cells in column (F) filled with the color Green. And corresponding text in Column G. How can I change the text of that particular row to white.
i.e.: if any cell in column F is Green, change the text color of that row in Column G to white?
I am looking for a very simple script that will achieve the following:
On the clicking of a button, Select and shade in a cell yellow, delete the yellow shading of the previous cell. The shading & selection should move up a column of cells, 1 at a time, in the following order:
From B10 to B9, then B9 to B8, B8 to B7 etc until the selection and shading is at B2. Once it is at B2 subsequent clicks will simply keep it at B2 (the top). Thus after 8 clicks the shading & selection should travel from B10 to B2, with only 1 cell being shaded yellow and selected at any one time.
I have 2 sheets, A & B. When I type something into sheet A, it goes to Sheet B, but if I change the cell color on Sheet A, I would like that to automatically color the same thing in Sheet B. How can I do this?
I am writing a program in excel spreadsheet and I was wondering how to fill an input cell with color automatically in excel 2007.
I mean that, say I am writing an addition program, I am giving an input numbers in B1 and B2 and i am writing formula in B3 (=B1+B2). I want excel to fill B1 and B2 with yellow/any color automatlically. Only the cells with number input should be highlighted.
I occasionally give presentations with Excel and would like to make it easier for the audience to see a particular cell when I move to it. The cursor can be tiny, and some people have a hard time seeing the cursor, so I use the keyboard to navigate to the cells I talk about. Yet, the cell, which then has a border around it, still can be hard to see.
Is there a way in Excel to have a cell that is highlighted, that is I move to a cell with the keyboard, so that it pops out in a different font color or background or format, when I move to it, and it automatically reverts to its usual format and color when I move away from it?
I am trying to simplify a spreadsheet. I have a column with dates from last year and I was wondering if there is a formula that would automatically change the color of the cell once the date is over one year to the day to show that the date in the cell has expired?
I'm looking for a way to make a cell copy the fill color from an adjacent cell.
in my case, cell A1 is a dropdown menu cell, where each option has a different fill color (through conditional formatting). what i want is to make cell B1 copy the fill color from cell A1 automatically. it may be important the both cells have dropdown menus.
I have an excel sheet with over 10,000 rows. Some of the rows are colored. (Light Green). I want a macro which starts from 1st colored row, cut or copy all the rows (including the colored row) before next colored row comes and paste it in the same workbook but different tab. It would also be good if macro creates the tab itself.
I have a range of data 9cols x 600rows which I want to apply 9 conditional formatting styles to. The range has other data in subsequent columns that I don't want the formatting applied to.
The condition is quite straight-forward, but I'm damned if I can find out how to do it. Only a single cell on any given row will contain data (it's a error if there's more than one value on the row). Based on the column the data is located in, I'd like to assign a background colour to the segment of the row being analysed.
Diagramatically (where * = blank)
Data (Action) * * * * * * X * * (Colour this row segment some colour) * X * * * * * * * (Colour this row segment another colour) * * * X * * * * * (Colour this row segment another colour) * * * * * * * * * (Colour this row segment another colour) X * * * * * * * * (Colour this row segment another colour) X * * * * * * * X (Colour this row segment red - error)
This is as far as I've got and it's not working.
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) Dim icolor As Integer Dim cell As Range
I have the following code to hide rows based upon whether or not the cell in column A is black or not.
Sub hide_black()
Dim Rng As Range Dim MyCell As Range Set Rng = Range("A2:A36635") For Each MyCell In Rng If MyCell.Interior.ColorIndex = 1 Then MyCell.EntireRow.Hidden = True End If Next MyCell End Sub
I was thinking of taking this one step further and having the rows hide automatically once the cell is turned black allowing the user to bypass having to click on a macro button.
In my Excel 2003 worksheet, I need the row color to automatically change to blue (color 5) (bgcolor = #0000FF) - when the user changes the text from VALID to INVALID in the range: B3:B65000.
For example:
Cell B5 contains the text: VALID
When the user changes the text in the field to read: INVALID - then I need the row range: A5:W5 to change to the color blue.
but on my sheet the cells wont automatically update with the colors unless I double click the cell then click enter - it then refreshes and inserts the color.
I am trying to use the worksheet calculate event to automatically change the color of a cell only when that particular cell changes. In E2 of the worksheet is a formula use to determine rating based on the result of 2 other cells. The rating is classified as follows
Low Moderate High Maximum
I would like to generate a different set of color to the cell and fonts for each of the rating. For example,
"Cyan" to the cell E1 and E2 with Black font if the result is "Low" "Plum" to the cell E1 and E2 with "Black font if the result is "Moderate" "Blue" to the cell E1 and E2 with "White" font if the result is "High" and "Red" to the cell E1 and E2 with "White" font if the result is "Maximum"
