Nov 28, 2008I have a list of records that will eventually be used to create a pivot table. Sometimes an account number will be listed twice but instead of adding to the previous info, it needs to start a new record. I decided in these instances to mark the account number with a character (+). Even though the + will designate a separate record, I'd like it to be invisible.
Is there a way to automatically turn the font color white for only the +? Since I've automated the rest of the process using a macro, a VBA solution is fine.

Sep 4, 2006I have created a daily schedule which has a number of factory variables taken into consideration which determine the date and time a particular product should, barring any mechanical problems, come off the machine. (see attached spreadsheet).
The date at the top will be editable by me only so that when I update the production quantities, the “date/time off” column automatically re-adjusts to the remaining quantities.
The formulas are a little long winded, but I have left them that way whilst I try and develop it. I should be able to figure out how to condense them later.
My problem is that the “date/time off” on the right works excellent, but over a 24 hr period.
Ordinarily, we work a 12 hour day (6am to 6pm) with overlapping shifts to cover breaks, and 20 mins warm up at the start of the day for the machine, thus maximising a 12 hour day.
Of course if demand exceeds the allotted time we put on overtime.
Is it possible to specify that normal days are only 12 hours so that if a product exceeds 6pm, it flows into the next day with the balance starting at 6:20am?
And, if the production for the week exceeds the time could I stipulate particular days which we deem are suitable for overtime? Ie, we decide Wednesday is a 14 hour day and not 12.
I had toyed with the idea of creating a 365 day table/calendar, on another worksheet which would have its individual allocated hours in an adjacent column and somehow link them to the date/time off, perhaps by way of a VLOOKUP, but I have been chasing my tail trying to figure out how to implement it.
Automatically Color Fill Rows Based On Changing Column Information
Jun 24, 2009I would like to automatically color fill a series of rows based on like information from a single column. When the information in the column changes then the rows would either stop filling (this would be best) or fill with a different color until the information changes again.
Summary: series of alternating rows would either be filled or unfilled based on changes from the column information.
Hope this isn't too confusing. Below is an example except I would want the cells filled, not the text or numbers to change. The highlight is changing based on the changing of the numbers.

Sep 16, 2009This may have been answered on here but can not seem to find it. My situation is I have values in A1,A2 & A3 that are like counter reading so the value is always changing. What I am looking to do is change the cell color if one of the values is over 500 from the other two values. Say A1 is 3000, A2 is 3250 and A3 is 3500. I would like the cell for A3 to change color.

Aug 8, 2012I am trying to use VBA in Excel 2007 to change bar chart series colors. I have found a few posts that link it to a cell background, but I'm struggling to find one that does the font color.
It would be great if I could change the bar chart series to match the color of the text in the A column, so that if I highlighted the value in A1 and changed the text color to orange for whatever reason, the chart updates the value of 1.2 to an orange bar (see below).

Let's say the individual got here on 1 Jan
Phase 1 is for days 1-14 last for 14 days
Phase 2 is for Day 15-35 last for 21 days
Phase 3 is day 36+
This is what I need it to look like: All the phase information will compute automatically after inputting the date arrived. In addition I would also like to be able to change one of the phase dates and the remainder of the phases compensate according to the newly entered date.

If I put a msgbox in the If section it shows up so everything is working, besides the color.

Changing Color Of Cell By Date
Mar 2, 2009I am trying to make a reference to tell me when my rigging gear is due for inspection. I want the cell to change colors when a date is in range. For example i would like a red cell when the item is due or past due for inspection. A yellow cell for when the item is 90 days out from the due date. i have used conditional formating and used =E$-30<=TODAY() and changed cell to red. but when i add another format, for E$-90<=TODAY() for yellow, it will not work.
Once this is solved, i will need to make the entire row change color.

Aug 19, 2008I was copying cells from one spreadsheet to another using the following IF statement. It basically says that if the cell in this spreadsheet is blank, then put nothing in there. If it is not blank, put in data from another spreadsheet. The problem is that when it copied the information over, it was in a completely different color than the original cell. So, for example, if I put the following formula in the new spreadsheet, it will copy the cell information from the listed spreadsheet in this formula and place it in the appropriate cell, but it is changing the data from its original color to green.

When the user clicks "OK" the form closes and changes the cell based on the user's input (i.e. Red, "N/A"). I want only the double cliked cell to change color and text.

Aug 20, 2007I have a workseet that is basically a massive list of orders that have been placed. I have some conditional formatting based on cells that use the today() function to work out how long (in days) since the order was placed.
Trouble is, the spreadsheet is always open, and is never closed down... so it does not refresh automatically. So orders that should go red to indicate a week since they've been placed, don't!
I don't want to rely on people refreshing the screen. Ideally, I would like it to refresh once a day at 1 minute past midnight, or even every hour...

I keep getting the runtime error '1004: application-defined error or object-defined error the thing is, i ran the cell background changing code in a normal macro before integrating it in my other worksheet code first and it worked fine. What I desire is to fill the BLANK cells around the tag, A1:D1 + D1:D19 + A1:D19 + A1:19 in a certain color based on the text value of the cell B11. There are 5 different values, such that if the B11 read Red Sox - the boarder is going to be red, if it reads Houston Astros it will be dark blue, etc..
I have a similar problem with changing the color of the cell based on the month. So regardless of the year, 2014, 2015, 2016, etc... If I use MONTH() function I can just get numbers from 1-12. I want Cell C16-C18 to be certain color depending the date entered in cell C17 such that for each quarter, months 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12 they are different color.
I have had no luck with conditional formatting (and I also believe that it is good up to 3 cases only). I am decent in logic/programming language but have little knowledge with macro notation and especially how to run them in excel 2013. I do know how to start it alt+F11 and that I need to make sure that code is written under the specific sheet where my tag is located.

The code works perfectly, however, if I save the workbook with a different spreadsheet on top than the spreadsheet referred to in this code, I get an error message: Method 'Range' of object '_Worksheet' failed.
I should state that I did change "Private Sub Workbook_Open()" to "Private Sub Auto_Open()".
I assume I need to modify the code but am unsure as to how.

Any way that I can code excel to work so that if my current average in the class ever drops below 70%, I want the color of the text to change to red to alert me that the grade is too low and needs to come up.
