Bypass Inputbox In 20 Seconds?
Apr 4, 2012
I am working on a script that allows a user to enter a number (days), and an automatic process performs based on that number. The inputbox has a default value. I have everything except for one issue--we would like the default value to be accepted and the inputbox close if the user does not click OK in say 20 seconds (in order to keep the process from tying up the rest of the process). Is there a way in VBA to click "OK" in the inputbox in 20 seconds so the process can run if the user doesn't click it himself?

I am trying to convert a number of "hours" "minutes" and "seconds", to give me a result in seconds only, in order that I may then financially cost the amount of time spent on a task. (A time and motion costing exercise)
Example:
1119:48:06
Represents 1119hours:48minutes:36seconds spent on a task.
I can manually convert this to 4031286 seconds, but it just takes too much time !!!(sorry!)
The data is extracted from a database which is unable to split the hours,minutes,seconds into seperate fields, which prevents me from using three cells in excel.

I have a spreadsheet that imports data relating to phone call durations. The information imports as a total number of seconds taken.
What I need to do is to change that number of seconds into hours, minutes and seconds.
Changing the format of the cells doesn't work.
I've tried everything I can think of, and run out of ideas.
example:
23 needs changing to 00:00:23
96 needs changing to 00:01:36
268 to 00:04:28
9374 to 02:35:14

my main file goes out and opens another worksheet, modifies it in its existing environment, copies it to a tab on my main file then closes the other file but not save it. Even though I did those things when I was recording the macro, those steps are not coming through.

Is there a way to use the =SUM(--:--) feature, but to bypass any cells that contain text instead of numbers that are in the range?
I'm currently using this formula:
=SUM(N(I31)+N(L31)+N(O31)+N(R31)+N(U31)+N(X31)+N(AA31)+N(AD31))
...to only add up the number cells, as next to each cell, there is a column that has text (the reason for the "N(--:--)" is because depending on criteria, some of these cells print blank).
I just added 50 more columns that need to be added to the formula listed above and I will need to repeat this a dozen times. It will be much easier (and tidier) to be able to do something like this:
=SUM(N(I31:CL31)EXCLUDING CELLS THAT CONTAIN TEXT.

I have an ongoing project under constant upgrade. Essentially its a timesheet (used by about 40 secretaries) that gets sent to two administrators who import it into a report.
I have written a script to import these timesheets into a report which works fine and currently resides in a module which the administrators access via a command button on there report.
To make there life even easier I have constructed a script that triggers in event Sub Workbook_open (), embedded in the timesheets themselves, based on
If Application.UserName = "Admin1" Or Application.UserName = "Admin2" Then .....

I was getting so close to the end of what I was trying to finish until I got stuck by an error.
I think the data source in Data Validation has a limit of character. Please see Below
=CHOOSE(MATCH($D1,AccountList,0),ZA,ZB,ZC,ZD,ZE,...ZAA,ZAB,ZAC)
I need to extend the list until ZAO. However, I think the Excel limit is only until ZAC.
I tried to create a new "list" that would contain those ZA,ZB,ZC.
(the list would be named ListofZ) and replace the lengthy formula above by the following:
=CHOOSE(MATCH($D1,AccountList,0),ListofZ)
However this technique doesn't work.

when sending an email in code from Excel through Outlook, the following Microsoft Office Outlook dialog appears during code execution in Office releases since 2002:
A Program is trying to automatically send e-mail on your behalf.
Do you want to allow this?
If this is unexpected, it may be a virus and you should choose "No".
Two buttons: [Yes] [No]
Question
Has anyone used or developed code that bypasses this prompt, and if so, would you please post an example of your code here. What I would like is a macro in VBA and / or API that you know from your own first-hand experience has worked for you, that emails an Excel attachment from Excel, using Outlook (not Outlook Express) as the email client, which bypasses the above prompt.....................

I have another dilema. I am writing a macro that essentially takes a template from a workbook and copies it to another workbook that already has data. the data is then imputed into the pasted template through the macro... my dilema is that I have numerous data sheets so at the begining of the code I need the macro to pause so the user can manually select the cell or range that the copied template is to be pasted too... I was thinking an inputbox would work but I am unsure how to write this part of the code.

Below is my code to display a seconds count down timer in a textbox.
What I want to be able to do is have another textbox where I can enter the number of seconds that the timer will count down.
I don't know how to take a value from the textbox and make it like
#12:00:15 AM#
How would I do this?
Sub warmTimer()
Dim InitialTime As Single
Dim FinalTime As Single
InitialTime = Time
FinalTime = InitialTime + #12:00:15 AM#
Do
txtTimer.Text = Format((FinalTime - Time), "s")
Loop Until (Time >= FinalTime) Or (Skip = 1)
txtTimer.Text = "Time complete"
End Sub

Is there a way to make a macro delay for like 30 seconds before it does its thing? What I'm trying to do is have something turned off before the spreadsheet is saved, and after the spreadsheet is saved have a macro that runs 30 seconds afterwards to turn said feature back on. On error this macro will simply terminate.

I have a macro that sends data from excel using MS Outlook. I want to add a more specific Subject header in outlook, and do this using an input box.
I thought adding something like this would work, but it doesn't... (below are just extracts from a very long code...)
Dim CurMonth as String
CurMonth = InputBox("Please enter the reporting month","")
.Subject = "Trial Balance - All companies" & CurMonth
When outlook generates the email, all I get in the subject line is "Trial Balance - All companies"

I am trying to simply the data input for someone who is not very experienced.
I have had some success but need to have an extra option in case of mistakes.
Ideally I need the following -
I want an inputbox that will appear when the user starts the macro and for example asks Enter Surname
Then I know what I want but I don't know how to do it.
I want a box to display the Surname that the user typed into the inputbox with a message asking Are Details Correct? with a Yes and No Button.
Clicking the Yes button moves onto the next inputbox clicking the No button cancels the whole macro before it enters data into cells.

I have a value of 0:01:20.555 in a cell in the form of hh.mm.ss.111 and I want to get the adjacent cell to display that value in just seconds (ss.11 to be precise).
So say for example I used 0:01:20.555 (1 minute and 20.555 seconds). So the 1 minute is 60 seconds, so overall the time in seconds would be 80.55 (I need to round off to 2 decimal places instead of the previous 3).
Examples:
0:01:20.555 becomes 80.55.
01:00:00.000 becomes 3600.
0:02:01.111 becomes 121.11
How this can be done for a whole set of data
