Calculation Times Take 10+ Minutes ( And Longer With Larger Data Sets )

I have a spread sheet with 4 columns x 20,000+ rows running this forumla

=IF(FALSE=ISERROR(VLOOKUP($G2,$B:$B,1,0)),$G2,$H3)

The formula works perfect - the only problem is the calc times can take 10+ minutes ( and longer with larger data sets ) because the data sets are so large. Is there another formula or way to get the same result that would speed the process up?

Code To Apply Calculation To Different Sets Of Data

I have an excel spreadsheet that performs a particular calculations using a large set of data. However, I have over 1000 sets of data that need to be feed into this sheet and obtain the output calculation. Obviously I don't want to have to copy and paste in each new set of data to obtain my result as this would take a very long time. I am brand new to VBA, so was wondering if there is a way to write code in VBA that will automatically perform these calculations for one data set, save the output into a cell, and then move to the next data set and so on?

Calculation Data Within Two Different Times

Im measuring arrivals of buses during a two hour period, for example 10 til 12 Within in this time i have 12 buses.

The Problem

What i need to do is calculate how many buses have turned up in a "rolling hour". This means taking a sample of any 60 mins within the two hours and calculating how many buses turn up. There needs to be a min of 6 buses in that 60 mins

In theoy there would be 60 "rolling hours" within a two hour period.

For example first 60 min is 10 till 11, second 60 min is 10:01 till 11:01 and so on.

Date Calculation Formula - Determine Longer Period Of Time

How to create a formula to determine the longer period of time between two date calculations and enter the longer period of time in the cell.

My Spreadsheet:
Cell M2: Birthdate (entered in cell as 11/1/2004)
Cell J2: Last date of service (entered in cell as 10/31/2011)
Cell G2: Calculation to enter the longer period of time between (M2 (year) + 21) and (J2 (year) + 7)

Example using information from above:
2004 + 21 = 2025
2011 + 7 = 2018
2025 is the result I want added to G2

If there is any way to include the month/year in G2 that would be ideal.

Return Minutes Difference Between 2 Times

I have to work out the time difference between 2 times over a 24 hour period.
There is a fixed booked departure time and an actual time of departure, the actual time of departure can be either before or after the booked time.
I need the time difference between the times shown as either +/- minutes at present it returns the time in [HH:MM].
I have a simple IF formula to work out - time but when it calculate + time it returns the reverse difference.

A= booked time
B= actual time

i need to get a formula that will calucate hours and min. its for how many hours the employee has not worked. some of them would be strait hours some would be just min there is no way to tell.

example
lates 2 hours
anp(absent no pay) 12 hours
sicks 55.5 hours
no calls
early outs 21 min
(this is just an example if it were real this person would be fired)

i know this adds up to 69.85 hours but i can't fuiger out a way to get it to calucate in excel. i know i could have it all changed to min and then devied by 60 to get the hours but how do i get it to read what is mins and whats hours?

A1 is 18/10/08 13:14, B1 is 20/10/2008 12:20, C1 is 1:23:05

Using the formula C1 =INT(B1-A1)&TEXT(B1-A1,":hh:mm")

But what I really need is just Hours and Minutes so the above should read 47:05.

Excel 2010 :: Formatting Military Times And Calculation

I work for a freight company and have been trying to create a macro for a spreadsheet that I have to create every single day. I pull a report from a program called the AS400 and it sends me an excel spreadsheet with information about certain shipments such as close time and arrive time (which are in military time such as 16:00) along with driver names.

Anyways what I need to accomplish is to highlight the entire rows font in red if the driver arrived an hour or more past there close time. When I get the spreadsheet the military times are not showing in the HH:MM format under format cells. So I select the HH:MM format and try to do a formula such as Arrive time cell (M1) - close time cell (L1) to get the time difference it shows as #VALUE!. I've tried to convert it to different time formats and nothing works. The values just stay the same and will not allow me to do calculations with them.

At first I thought this was because the program was sending those values as text. I tried to use the date>text to columns>finish button on the columns but did not work. I've tried to remove the":" then use the HH:MM cell format but still wont work. I've even tried a time value formula to try to convert the values such as =TIMEVALUE(LEFT(A1,2)&”:”&RIGHT(A1,2)).

But nothing works it will not allow me to add or subtract from the time values no matter what I do. I am running excel 2010 on Windows XP the english version.

Running Calculation X Times With Changing Inputs And Placing Of Output Into Cells

I have a cell in sheet1 (say, B2) in which I can key a date. Once I change that date, cell C10 updates (after I hit F9 to recalculate) with a new number based on the new date.

I have a list of dates on another sheet, from 1/1/2009 to 12/31/2013, all in column B. I want to produce VBA code that will run through each day, 1/1/2009 to 12/31/2009, in sheet1 cell B2 and take the output in C10 and place it next to each day in column B until it reaches the end (12/31/2013). I know this is possible but for some reason am having trouble coming up with the right looping mechanism.

You can imagine if I had to manually key in each day to get the desired output how tedious that would be.

Keeping Track Of Data Over Time Even If The Data Is No Longer Visible?

I work in a medical facility, and I need to track data I've entered representing patient visits indefinitely over time. I've attached a weekly grid to this thread that I use to record which patients have had visits during the course of the week. It sums their total visits on the right. I need to continually track these because every patient gets an insurance-mandated progress update after 10 visits. Unfortunately, they don't always show up, and the most I can possibly keep track of is two weeks, max, and most patients only get two visits per week. Is there a way to dump these sums into another column indefinitely?

Excel 2003 :: Extracting Sub Sheet Of Data From Larger Schedule

I have sheet containing a schedule of data. It is a record of changes on a project, each change is sequentially numbered and contains a row of data (date of change, whether approved, cost of change etc). Each change is given a cost centre reference (1 of 10 cost centres are being used) depending on the type of change being made.

I need to keep that record of the overall schedule of changes but I also want to extract each of the cost centre categories into a sub table on the sheet to give a schedule of changes against each category.

I have almost achieved what I want but one method leaves blanks in the sub table which I want to avoid and the other method I used to remove the blank lines but needs the first method sheet calculated before it then goes to work and seems rather cumbersome and I suspect there is a much easier method. (I also want it to be compatible with excel 2003 so it can be used across several platforms.)

Finding Matches Between Two Sets Of Data - Each Set Has Three Columns Of Data

I am working on large sets of data (more than 50,000 rows of data). I have two sets of data. Set 1 and Set 2 (master data) on the same worksheet. Both the sets of data have three columns each. I am using EXCEL 2007. I was able to accomplish step 1 below.. but I am totally lost with step 2 since i have an additional criteria for the "year".

I have attached the excel sheet as well. This is what I am trying to accomplish:

1) I want to find exact matches in set 1 and set 2 and highlight it or do something to show that a match was found. The challenge is the data in set 1 can occur anywhere in set 2.

2) Add to the complication .. my criteria for matching the year is different. If the Set 1 "year" is equal to or greater by 1 yr or greater by 2 yr when compared to Set 2 "year", I want to treat it as a "match".

For example, from the data attached:

Set 1 data in row 4 is: ATLANTIC ABSECON 2004
Set 2 data in row 3 is: ATLANTIC ABSECON 2003

I want to treat these two data as "MATCH" since ATLANTIC matches ATLANTIC, ABSECON matches ABSECON and according to one of my criteria for year, Set 1 "year" is greater by 1 yr than the Set 2 "year".

Vlookup To Compare Two Sets Of Data And Change The First Set Of Data If It Is Than The First

I have tried nested ifs and vlookup to compare two sets of data and change the first set of data if it is than the first. But leave it alone if it either is the same or does not exist in the new set of data. It sometimes seems to work but i find it is not consistant. It looks simple but i think i am missing something.

if column A has identifiers and column B has results then it should work if the identifiers in column C are found in column A and it looks to see if column B and D are the same, then change B if different but leave it if either it is the same or not there.

I have two sets of data for students. One set contains all the students with certain test scores, taking up columns A to N. The other set contains about 80% of those same students with a different set of test scores. Students are sorted by ID numbers. How do I combine the second set into columns O to V so that student ID numbers match and it inputs the rest of the student data into the sheet.

I know there will be some blanks because not all students will be there but I need them to match up, even with the blanks.

I'm attempting to create a mailing list for the company I work for, but the software that has the data record is very limiting. The two tables I received from the program are listed:

Customer
Number of Sales

name 1
#

name 2
#

name 3

I tried to illustrate that the address list has a different customer composition than the sales list; the address list has customers that the sales list doesn't have. This means I can't just sort alphabetically and drag the addresses over. My goal here is to create a datasheet that incorporates both the address and number of sales so that we can send the top 500 customers a mailing. How can I do this?

In the attached workbook, I have identical sets of data in column A separated by an blank cells. I need a macro for user form that searches for an item indicated in the textbox of the form and then delete the whole row in all sets of data.

It is important to keep the blank cells between the sets constant, 4 blank cells between each set, except the first set that starts with 3 blank cells.

Summing The Data From Two Sets?

Im trying to get the total number of participants in two different sets, with selection criteria attached to both (Ive attached an excel file, as the example with those scoring +ve highlighted in yellow). The first set A (b1:b15) I want to select all values above 5, and the second B (c1:c15) set above 10. There other provisor, is that the A and B are further split into two groups (one above and one below 20).

In summary, I need to count all the A>5, B>10 (And both have to be above 20 in column D), but not to double count the ones that have Both A>5 and B>10. I dont want any duplicates to be counted, so summing the total of A and adding it to B wont work. In essence its an attempt to use the A Union B function that youd observe when using venn diagrams.

Is there a simple way/formula of doing this?

Reconcile Two Sets Of Data

I manually reconcile two sets of data every month by sorting by PO# and then manually matching up the onse that are the same and then calculate if there is a variance in $ amount.

The 1st set of data is a list of invoice PO#'s and invoice $ amounts and the 2nd set of data is order PO#'s and order $ amounts. What I need to do is reconcile the orders to the invoices by PO#. It is very common to have a PO# on each list but have a different $ amount and I only need to know what the difference is between the order amount and the invoiced amount. I also need to know what is on the invoice list and not on the order list and vise versa....

I'm trying to compare two sets of data on the same sheet. Each set has 4 columns...A - D and F - I. I would like to take the data from D and I (range 20 to 50) and compare them to see if any differences exist in the two columns. If there is something different I would like to bold and highlight the cells (A-D) in that row, and the same goes for the second set of data (F-I).

I'm trying to do this with macros so I can add it into my existing code.

Compare 2 Sets Of Data Each With 2 Columns?

I have 2 sets of data/array/range. Each set consists of 2 columns with a large number of rows.

I want to compare my 2nd data to a master data. And list if anything is different in 2nd set of data from master set in column A than highlight the difference or copy the value to another place.

Also want to compare the 2nd column if column A was same and consider both column A and column B for that associated row different if column B is different.

The trouble for me comes in because the list is never alphabetical (sort doesnt work cause of funky naming) and never of the same size.

Attached is a photo of an example for maybe an clearer understanding. Also attached an example excel sheet I tried it within excel but cant seem to figure out how to look also for the 2nd column, so im trying to avoid the within excel route and go using vba ...

Sheet2 (Summary) has a column called "Begin Date" and a column called "End Date". How can I use a formula to sum every piece of data that fits within the two dates?
