Can Excel Take Some Parts Of Vertical Rows And Organize Them Into Horizontal Columns?

Nov 7, 2013

I have a worksheet with 2256 rows. I'm working with Student's total enrollments per grade level and I need totals from some of those rows stacked neatly into columns for distribution.

In my attachments, the starting workbook screenshot is what I am starting with, and the desired end result screenshot is what I need it to look like as the final result.

Organize From Vertical Organization To Horizontal - Show Blanks Where Items Are Not Found

Jul 9, 2014

I have a list of data that includes employee ID number in column A and a certain document that they have on file (onboarding docs such as I-9, W-4, copy of Social Security card, etc.) in column B. If one employee has 10 documents, they are listed with the same ID number 10 times in A1:A10 and the different document names are listed in B1:B10.

I want to clearly see which employee has which document by having the ID numbers going vertically in column A and then an X or check mark of some sort going across the rows.

The set up of what I would like filled in is in the sheet called "status" and the list of documents on file is in the sheet called "docs."check file.xlsx

I tried a combination of an IF and VLOOKUP with a MATCH function but I wasn't getting what I wanted.

The file is broken down by revenue codes on the first row of the account and then units on the second row. (450= Revenue Code and 1=Units associated with that revenue code) Then a new account number starts and it is revenue codes on the first first row and units on the second row.

Linking (referencing) Horizontal Row Data To Vertical Columns

Jun 28, 2014

I am working with two spread sheets; one is my take-off/summary sheet which is where I populate all the data for the project I am working on, the second sheet is also a summary sheet but it has also other functions; hence, I need to have two spread sheets.

I need to link/reference the data I have on my take-off sheet row 119, column K through ACL (lots of columns) to my other sheet but it now needs to be referenced in a column direction. At first, I enter = (sign) in T9 (the sheet I need to bring the data in) and then I go to the take-off sheet select N119 and hit enter, this first data is good, but then I try to drag it down to populate all the data from the other sheet but even though I lock the row (N$119) and let N free the formula doesn't populate this: =!N$119, =!O$119, ='!P$119 and so on so for...all what it gives me is =!N$119 all the way down...

Search Parts Of Columns Looking For Matches In Parts Of Other Columns In A Row

Mar 1, 2014

I have sheets with names of people in columns....some married...some not. When they are married, here's a sample format...

Jones, Donald T | Baker, Sarah Jane | Jones, Sarah Jane | Smith, Sarah J | Jones, Sarah Jane Smith

In this example, I would like to be able to determine which of the Sarah's belongs to Donald w/o having to visually look at each record ( 100,000's of records). (FYI: the names for Sarah would/could be her Maiden Name and possibly a name or two from a former marriage). What I need to be able to do is match and extract the names of Jones, Donald T and Jones, Sarah Jane and Jones, Sarah Jane Smith and eliminate Smith, Sarah J and Baker, Sarah Jane.

In my example, Donald is in the first column, but can be in any column on a row so the name positions are random across the columns. However, the format for each column is then same...Last Name, First Name Middle Name(or Initial) with a comma always after the last name in each column. The length of the last name also varies.

VBA or Formula that will search the cells in the columns of each row and return the names (complete contents of the cells with matching last names) that have a matching last name for that row.

VBA Vertical And Horizontal Lookup?

I was wondering if it's possible to create a macro that would check the range horizontally and vertically and return the resoults in a userform so that when workbook is open this userform would come up with the information who is due for refresher....

The sample book doesn't show the real size of the original matrix which has 190 employess and about 30 procedures so as you can imagine it's a pain.. to keep it up to date so I need something to flag that for me, yes I can see the red cells but still there's so many cells that I might easly miss some of them....

I was trying something with INDEX / MATCH, but can't get it to work.

Lookup With THREE Conditions - One Vertical / Two Horizontal

May 23, 2012

I have a table where I need to return a value according to THREE conditions:

1. Vertical, which is a shop code for instance

2. And 2 horizontal:
- One: segment (heading level 1)
- Two: product (heading level 2)

E.g. for "Shop1", what's the value for segment "PI" and product "Credit", etc.

An example file attached : fz73m5zEmZS6Y14-C.xlsx‎

The key thing for me is to do this WITHOUT changing data structure, because that really would be a huge pain. I mean, if it's no possible to do without changes (e.g. adding an extra column, etc.), I'll have to live with that I guess. But ideally I would really like to avoid changing data structure.

SUMIFS - How To Sum Data Using Both Horizontal And Vertical

Jul 20, 2012

I have a huge data table, and I just can't seem to find a way to sum the numbers the way I want.

Here's an example of the table:

___ A B C A B C A B C A B C A B C
Jan 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 1 2 3 4 5
Jan 3 4 5 6 3 4 5 6 3 4 5 6 3 4 5
Jan 3 4 5 6 3 4 5 6 3 4 5 6 3 4 5
Jan 3 4 5 6 3 4 5 6 3 4 5 6 3 4 5
Feb 3 4 5 6 3 4 5 6 3 4 5 6 3 4 5
Feb 6 3 4 5 6 3 6 3 4 5 6 3 6 3 4
Feb 6 3 4 5 6 3 6 3 4 5 6 3 6 3 4
Feb 6 3 4 5 6 3 6 3 4 5 6 3 6 3 4
Feb 6 3 4 5 6 3 6 3 4 5 6 3 6 3 4
Mar 6 3 4 5 6 3 6 3 4 5 6 3 6 3 4
Mar 6 3 4 5 6 3 6 3 4 5 6 3 6 3 4
...
...

But, in essence, I need to sum together every value that's in January AND is in a column labeled "A".

I could just write up a bunch of "sumif=" functions but I feel like there's a simpler way.. I tried using "sumifs=" but I don't think it can handle horizontal AND vertical criteria...

Sum Range Using Both Horizontal And Vertical Criteria?

1
2

1
20%
25%

2

3

50%

For example, if the horizontal criteria were "1" and the vertical criteria were "2", I need to sum the 20% and 40% amounts (60%). If the horizontal criteria were "2", and the vertical criteria were "3", I would need to sum the 25%, 25%, 50% (100%). I have tried using SUMIFS functions, but they do not appear to work with both horizontal and vertical axis criteria (I receive a #VALUE error).
