Change Active Cell After Hyperlink Clicked
I have a column with entrys of 2 kinds. Some being Hyperlinks and others with normal type data. All cells are locked with password except for cells that will possibly have entrys made in them.
Is there a way to move the active cell to R1C1 after any hyperlink clicked? R1C1 is unlocked.

Log Number Of Times A Hyperlink Cell Is Clicked
I have a spreadsheet with contact information in it. I am trying to figure out a way to count how many times I click a contacts email address, then tally it in a weekly log. The end result will be a page that totals how many emails I sent each week for the year based on the number of clicks I have made to the spreadsheet. Ideally I would also like to log the number of times the phone number is clicked too, but I am unsure how to make the phone number a live cell.

I've found a great thread that answered part of my problem (Change colour of text on update of cell) This code changes the colour of a cell when selected. With the application I'm trying to make I need this effect to only occur in a certain area say A10:D30 I'm trying to make a scheduling page that uses timebars to represent when people are working. I though if a user could click or highlight the hours and a time bar produced I could lookup to see what hour the timebar starts and ends and show the hours worked. Create Hyperlink In Active Cell
I'm running Excel 2003 and I'm looking for assistance with programmatically creating hyperlinks. I have to update a Shared Workbook on a weekly basis. The cells in column D contain a catalog id and I need to create a hyperlink that includes this id in the url. What I want to do is insert a new row, enter the catalog id and then create a hyperlink that contains the id. Additionally, the text to display has to be the 8 digit id. Use Active Cell To Create Hyperlink
I am trying to use an active cell (i.e. "Sheet2!E7") which always changes, to create a hyperlink on a different sheet to that particular cell. What is happening is I have a master list of current open POs. On a separate sheet I have the PO listed in greater detail. I want the PO number on my master list to have a hyperlink that brings you to my detailed PO on another sheet. Hyperlink To Closed Files Display Error When Clicked
I am automatically generating a hyperlink to another document. The link that generates is: (I don't know if this qualifies as code, but I'll tag it anyhow...) 06-09-05 0000020 Name/06-09-05 0000020 Name.xls# 'Notes'A5 with 06-09-05 0000020 Name as a directory off the current App.path, and 06-09-05 0000020 Name.xls being the name of the file in the directory. It does have a sheet called "Notes". The thing of it is, the hyperlink takes me to the right place, it just gives me an error message every time saying "Reference not valid". How can it be taking me to the right place, and still giving me the error?

Is there a way that under "Type the Cell Reference" that you can make it automatically change to the cell the hyperlink is on? Change Active Cell Color According To Name Above
Here is a screen shot of what I have: I want to be able to enter the name from the above 4 cells (B3,B4,B5,B6) IN THAT COLUMN, and have the active cell change color accordingly. If I am in cell C7 and start to type "PUBLIX" It should turn red in color. It does not because the code looks to a specific cell (example: B3). Change Active Cell Value On The Fly
I need to input a long list of steel sections in Excel. The steel sections have names like HEA200, HEA120, HEB 400, HEM300 etc. I was thinking that this could be done easier by using codes for the section prefixes (HEA,HEB, HEM etc) and that the cell value would change automatically. HEA=1 HEB=2 HEM=3 HD=4 UNP=5 etc. For example: I input "1100" - this would change on the fly to HEA100 I input "2200" - this would change on the fly to HEB200 I input "5200" - this would change on the fly to UNP200 I know I could do this by using a lookup function in another cell, but I want it all to happen in the same cell.

Change Active Cell Color
Found code on this site to change the color of the active cell. One problem and two questions. Code works, however, when you save and close the last active cell is stuck with the new color. The attached sample workbook has a listbox of areas in a userform. The Textbox on the user form is so that the user can edit the Area names in the listbox. The userform functions fine as long as the column that contains the area name is not hidden. What I want to be able to do is edit the Area Names using the Textbox with the area name column hidden.

Active Hyperlink Display On User Form
I have a Excel database and a userform to look-up reocrds. I want to be able to connect a Data Sheet which is a PDF file to every product in the daatbase. I have created an additional column and created hypelinks in front of each product. these hyperlinks are connected to the datasheet of that product which is saved on the drive. Worksheet Change Hyperlink
I have a question regarding hyperlinks...now what i wish to do is force a hyperlink in what i thoguht would be esily dne in a worksheet change event...hw wrong was i. Lets say i type 'test' in A1 and press enter...now because i ave pressed enter A1 is no longer the active cell so the code in the sheet change event inserts the code into A2 but because A is blank the 'Text to display' becomes the hyperlinks address. I wrote a simple with/ end with thinking it would work but it doesnt because of the issue above (Hope i am making sense here) I got round it by copying the activecell (which would be the cell underneath) and pasting it back to the original target cell, which because it contains text does what i wantbut i am hoping for a much cleaner solution..... My target column is '1' and only one i will just need to exit the sub anywhere else on the sheet

I've seen a spreadsheet where the user can click on a cell, and the row the cell is in automatically highlights. This is useful where there is a lot of columns, and it also looks pretty snazzy! How do I do this? Cell Reference From Clicked Button
There was a similar question I found answered in the archives. However the solution given there (using ActiveSheet.Buttons(Application.Caller).TopLeftCell.xxx) does not work in my case. A little googling and I think the reason is that I added my buttons from the toolbar and not from the forms editor. My buttons are in the OLEObjects collection, not in Buttons. So how do I determine which of my OLEObjects was clicked? Is there something similar to "Application.Caller"?

Override The Data In The Cell When Checkbox Is Clicked
i am working on a spreadsheet that is doing two things 1) its allowing the user to choose between 1 to 3 number or N/A from the list validation option and 2) there is a checkbox if one selects that all the columns that have the formula will become N/A irrespect of data in it. I am using the following formula in the list validation option a3 is the check boc. E5 =1 E6= 2 E7 = 3 E8=N/A =if(a3=true, $E$8, $E$5:$E$8) The issue I am having with this is, if I start selecting something from the drop down and half way I realize I need to check the box, it will only make it E8 value for the cells I have not touched and the ones I have already selected the drop down value it will remain. However I want it to override the value to E8 irrespect. 1) If the user of the spreadsheet clicks on the check box (this is in A3 cell) which i have linked it using format control then all the cell (Column E) that have the formula =if(A3=True, "N/A", ) will have N/A which is not applicable and not an error as you mentioned. I have successfully implemented this 2) If the user does not select the check box (a3) then each of the cell (Column E) has a drop down which the user can select either 1,2,3 or N/A. Which I have successfully implemented by using the data validations. Now the struggle I am having is as follows: I have attached the spreadsheet for your reference too. Now if I select number 2 in cell E10, 2 in cell E11 and 3 in cell E 13 and you can see alll the other cell in column E are 0, because of the formula and the box in A3 is not checked in Tab 1. In Tab 2 I have checked the box everything turned N/A in column E except cells E10, E11 and E13 because I had previously selected 2,2,3 respectively. This is not what I want, what I want is when I check that box everything should turn to N/A basically an override function is what I want to created.

StephenR's example is just the sort of thing I want, except I'd like it to ignore Cells that already have an Interior colour, or revert the Cells to their original Interior colour when you move on. Change/Modify/Add Text In Shape On Non-Active Worksheet
I have a button on say, sheet1 with text that I want to change after a certain action takes place; however, I was trying to change this text without switching sheets. (switching sheets isn't a big deal, I'm mainly trying to do it my way for the practice). Hyperlink Address From Hyperlink Formula/Function
I am having a slight problem copying hyperlinks. I have written some code that sorts data by date and then creates a simple diary. It originally placed the name of the event in the new diary sheet. What I would like to do is instead of copying the name into this new sheet copy a hyperlink that I have created to the company's website for that event. I can create the hyperlink using hyperlink(B1,A1) where A1 is the company name and B1 is the web address but since the new sheet will not have the underlying data I need to actually copy the values and format of the hyperlink rather than the formula.

A data sheet that can stretch to thousands of records which each span around twenty (ish) rows; and a sheet I arrive at via a macro which contains rows with selected data from the records in the first sheet. Find Method To Search For The Active And Non Active Values
I have a range of amounts in Sheet 1 from F7:Q13 and im using the find method to search for the active and non active values in the cell. Which means that if there's a value in the cell it will transfer the value in Sheet 2, if nothing is found in the cell the cells in Sheet 2 will return as nothing or null. I think the problem lies on the FindWhat variable. Im getting a compiled error which im not sure what is it. I've attached the spreadsheet so you get a better idea of the problem that i encountered.

Making Cell A Hyperlink
I have a table which as a few columns, the left column is called name and the far right one is called email. The name cells have a drop down list which refers to another workbook with peoples names, when you select a name other cells are automatically populated using the vlookup function such as phone number, email etc. In the workbook it is referencing too with all the data, the email address are like a hyperlink which creates an outgoing mail if you click on it, is there a way to have this in the table as nothing happens when you ckick on the text.

Hyperlink - Contents, Not Cell
a way to link between contents of cells, rather than the actual Cell. I have multiple tabs with schedules, and they all link to a phone list with the employee names. If an employee leaves, and that line on the phone list is deleted, the hyperlinks for the employees below that line are all wrong (the employee whose name was in C49 is now in C48, but the link on the schedule tab links to C49). Identify Active Cell And Use The Column To Add Formula To Another Cell
I have a range of unlocked cells (B5:S10) that users enter data in. This sum of this data is then charted. The formula (sum) in a cell equals zero even when there is no data entered by the user. This zero is then charted. I need to be able to plot the zeros if the user enters zeros but not plot the zero if the cells are blank. What I was attempting to do is to use the worksheet change event to add the formulas to a cell so that the chart does not plot the value until something was added. In my change event I need to know that a cell in the range (B5:S10) was changed and that if it was D7 (for example) that I need a formula enterd in D11 [=SUM(D5:D10)]. If it was I5 then the formula would have to go in I11 [=SUM(I5:I10)].
