Chart Coloring Based On Data Range

Sep 16, 2006

I need this chart to show 3 bar colors based upon values from b5:b14 (data column). This chart is based upon the last 10 draws, so since there are 3 positions, the hit frequency expectancy would be (10 draws/3 positions = 3.33 rounded to 3). So now I would like my bar graph colors RED for any values above "3" in b5:b14 (data column), GREEN for any values equal to "3" in b5:b14 (data column) and BLUE for any values below "3" in b5:b14 (data column).

Chart VBA Coloring Lines

Oct 2, 2008

I have this code that colors the lines in my Line Chart

Sub ColorLines()

Application.ScreenUpdating = False

Set chrt = ActiveChart
'Here you want to put your own graph
vals = chrt.SeriesCollection(1).Values
'These are the values to determine later whether the line moves up or down. In this example, I just colored 1 seriescollection (= one line in your line graph), with an extra loop you'd do all lines.

It is very simple: When the lines goes up they turn black. When they go down they turn red.

The code work, but only if all cell in the series is filled. If one cells is blank the code error. I'm using #NA() in all cells that are blank, so the chart skip that cell and continue from the next cell's value.

Coloring Pie Chart Using Series Collection Only Returns One Color?

I am trying to change the color of piechart using the code below:

Code:

Basically, I want each series in my graph to have the colors formulated by myCol. The code above, however, only colors the graph with color given my myCol(1), so it seems as if something is wrong with my loop.

Coloring Cell Based On Condition

Jan 18, 2009

I had an report and the rows of the report needs to be colored based on another cell value. My layout looks like this:

A1B1C1D1AVG
1011121330
14151617100
18192021400

For each cell, i need to compare the value of cell with that value in AVG coloumn and if condition is met, cell should be colored. Eg : If first cell value under A1 is Less than 0.2 * AVG of first row then color of the cell A2 should be red. After coloring the entire rows, then i should check and color the header row based on the color of Rows.

I tried first one, i,e coloring the rows based on conditional formatting and then written VB code to compare the color of rows and colored the header row. But the color index used in conditional formatting and the code are mismatching and the desired output is not coming. So decided to write code for coloring the rows cell.

Coloring Entire Rows Based On Certain Logic

Aug 1, 2014

Here is my attachment with data in first sheet and expected output in second sheet. Have given comments in second sheet for better understanding.

Data is of a debt collection, in sheet column F "form #" denotes loan form numbers and column L "paid" denotes the amount received or not received.

In this Form # are unique and form number will repeat with different paid amount.

Entire row to be colored based on the sum value of paid column amount of respective form number.

1. non repeated single form number with negative value of paid - Orange color

2. repeated form numbers with sum of values in paid column as positive value - only entire row of form number with negative value in blue color

3. repeated form numbers with sum of values in paid column as negative value - first form number row to be colored with yellow and rest of repeated form numbers with purple color and its sum value (negative value should be made available in yellow line of the Form # group to the right of right most column data)

4. form numbers and paid column of value "0" - pink color

I tried recording and edited macro only for the logic of paid value "0" and confused with other logics and declaring variables...

Coloring Cell Based Off Of Other Cells Date

What this is being used for is to track the work of our contractors, and I currently have this set up to auto calculate the jobs that are being done and when, but I would also like to include something in there that when the contractor is set to head back to India, that day forward is listed as "red" under his name. This will allow me to see if I need to extend his work based on the number of hours he has left in his jobs. I will attach the picture of it...on the top you will see dates, and the pivot table on the bottom shows when he will need new work, but I am going to add a field that has the date he is set to leave, this is what I want the coloring of fields to go off of! ...

Coloring Real Time Data

Feb 9, 2007

I have an API, which inputs real-time stock data into an excel book. Does anyone know how to make the Last Price cell change coloer (Greem=up, Red=donw) depending on whether the price moves up or down, relative to the last price?

ie, over the course of a minute a stock may price at 35.00 => 35.01 (cell turns green) => 35.00 (cell goes red) => 34.95 (cell stays red) => 34.97 (cell goes green).

VBA, conditional formatting, or any other means of doing this is perfectly acceptable.

VBA - Coloring Individual Parts Of Data Label?

Jul 31, 2013

I have plotted a chart through VBA and I am appending some information to certain data labels. This appended part is being turned a different color depending on if a corresponding value is less than or greater than 0.

Code:
For i = 1 To cht.SeriesCollection(1).DataLabels.Count
If ws.Range("C" & i + 1).Value < 0 Then[code]....

In stepping through the code, I notice that it works until the color switches twice. So for instance, if the first 3 points are below 0, it turns the appended part of the data label red. Then the next point is above 0 and it turns it green. Then the next point is below 0, and at this point it turns the appended part of EVERY data label red (overwriting the previous green one). It keeps going like this until all of the data labels are either red or green, depending on whatever the last value is as it just keeps overwriting.

Chart - Allows To Switch Data Range

Mar 16, 2014

I have data in columns A to Z. Column A has the name of Bonds and columns B to Z have different returns for those funds. I would like to create a scatter plot chart that allows me to switch which column to pull the data from in addition to column A which will always have the name of the Bonds.

For example in addition to the name in column A I would like the chart to plot data from Columns C and F on the x and y axis respectively.

I'm thinking of copying column A to a new tab and then having a drop down box in columns B and C to copy over values from the 2 columns I select. How can I get a drop-down box to copy over values from another column?

Chart Dynamic Data Range

Aug 31, 2006

I have created a chart that automatically expands as more data is added. This works great by using named ranges in my Chart's Series' Values and Axis Label fields. The named ranges use the Offset function.

The problem I am having is applying this same technique to to same chart to vary the number of series that I want to chart. I created a name range, using the offset function. But when I add the name to my Data Range formula, it will not stick. It changes the number of series displayed correctly when I add the name. But after I click OK on the Source Data dialog box, the data range reverts back to the address supplied by the name range variable; it does not retain the name range variable itself. Can Chart Data Ranges not contain a name range variable, especially when name range variables are used in the series formulas?

Hiding Zero Values From The Chart Data Range

Jul 7, 2014

I am currently building a tool that works with an undefined range of input variables, e.g. I now have a range of 200 values but it could just as easily be 400 or 100. I am using these values for further calculations and have thus 'dragged down' to cells that in some instances are empty, resulting in values that are 0. I'm also building a chart based on these values, but it shows the values that are 0 as well!

Is there any way to just plot the non-zero values without changing the data range?

Line Chart From Dynamic Range Of Data

Feb 14, 2014

I have a spreadsheet that I have setup to have raw data pasted into. Long story short, it pulls the maximum reading for a given 5 minute period and returns the highest value for each 5 minute increment where there was a reading. It does this for all of the different dates entered, returning a separate data table for each date.

What I now need is to graph the data on a line chart. Since the number of time values can be variable, I have to include the entire range (for example A3:B5002). When I graph this out, it has all of the data clumped up at the beginning and flatlines for 99% of the chart.

I tried building dynamic named ranges using offset, but that seems to yield similar results once charted.

See the link below where I've dumped some sample data in (it wouldn't let me upload due to the size and I can't upload only part of it without breaking the whole thing). The data I need to chart is from columns A&B on the GraphData sheet. Sheet 1 contains the chart I have been trying to use. The endgame of this is to have the end user paste in their data and *POOF* charts.

My only restriction is that I cannot have Macros/VBA.

[URL]....

I tried following this post and using NA() instead of ""...no dice, it just puts #NA at the bottom labels instead of spaces.

VBA - Retrieve Chart Series Source Data In Range?

Jan 13, 2010

Currently I'm working in an excel file that contains a lot of charts. I want to write a macro that changes the source data of every serie in every chart. It only needs to add extra rows. But as every series has different columns where they get the data from, how can I change the rows without changing the columns?

This is what I've written so far:

Code:
Sub ammend_datarange_series_all_charts()
Dim start_cell As String, end_cell As String
Dim chart_tot As Integer, c As Integer, s As Integer

[Code]....

As you can see I've tried two things, first I tried to change the string of the source data, however this meant that every series would have C and E as their source data. So I wanted to retrieve the x and y values in string format. This does not work yet, it returns an array with the values of all the entries in the series source data. From that array I can not retrieve the column where the data came from.

How Can I Stop The Chart Data Range From Updating When I Add & Delete A Row

I set the graphs up with a Chart Data Range of =GData!$B$1:$AB$300

As I add and delete rows the Chart Data Range reduces so after adding and deleting 3 rows the Chart Data Range is now =GData!$B$1:$AB$297

Using Insert|Name|Define I have created a named range called CashFlowSaleChartDataRange that is set to the following value:

=OFFSET('Cash Flow-Sale'!$O$10,0,0,NumFlows,1)

When I subsequently assign a reference to this named range in the data series dialog it will accept the answer and my chart will adjust to reflect the updated range. However, if I return to the data series dialog, I now see the range address returned by the OFFSET function rather than the named range reference.
