Line Chart - 12 Month Chart Moving With Dates
Jan 22, 2008Is there a way to display only the current month and the past 11 months in a Line Chart in Excel? So if I was to print Jan 2008 Excel graph, it would only display Feb 2007 - Jan 2008 data charting.
The spreadsheet of the data contains data for Jan 2005 - Jan 2008 so far, but only the current month with the past 11 months should display in the line chart depending on what is the current month.

What I am trying to do is keep stocks, based on 2 x the sales, as you can see G5 I have 15 I still have stock of 35 so I should not need any stock but it has put 50 in. The 50 is a layer rate that I need to order in if I need any. If I had 20 sales and 19 in stock I would want it to order 50. It is the same for all the ones listed in the sheet apart from I8 where it should have ordered but only 40.

Aug 30, 2012I am working on automating a report via vba code where the range of the chart needs to be changed every time the macro is run. Basically the chart is a snapshot of performance of 6 months .
For example : if the chart is already displaying Jan - Jun data , when the information for July is added and report updated the chart should be updated to reflect Feb - Jul data .
There are many graphs but have added 2 sample here for ref .
Rolling X Month Graph Or Chart

Basically I want to have a rolling 15 month graph that will change according to the month you choose in the drop down tab. Jun 14, 2007to print last months results each month. I have a cell (range name = LastMonth) with formula =now()-15 to display last months full name since I will always do this in the first half of each current month.
I want it to look at that cell on the "FY" sheet, see what month is displayed
then go to the "Monthly Audit By Cell" sheet & print the correct chart.
Each chart is named "Jan Audit" and so forth
I have this - only first six months done so far. Problem is nothing happens-no printing!
Doing this today on June 14th should print out the May chart.

Flowing Month Data Into A Chart Based On Weeks?
Feb 27, 2009I have a spreadsheet that I am using to try to track Project Man Hours. What happens is:
I enter in the amount of weeks a Project Phase is in and when the Project Starts. I also enter in how many "Men" we are going to need.
i.e. Project Start - January 2009
Phase 1 - 4 weeks with 1.5 Men
Phase 2 - 20 weeks with 2 Men.
What I want to happen is:
Excel then adds that data to a chart showing EACH MONTH and the amount of men needed for each phase.
Project 1 showing a line chart with January-December and the lines correlating with the amount of "Men" needed each week based on the Start Date and Sequential Phase Week Amounts.....

Jul 3, 2014I have a set of data with values and dates (call the dates 'raw dates'). I have added 3 columns with formulae in them as follows:
Year =YEAR('raw date')
Month =TEXT('raw date',"mmm")
Day ='raw date', formatted as "d".
I have a pivot chart with three Axis Fields. In order they are: Year, Month and Day. This is so that the chart itself has three layers of x-axis names (year, month and day) rather than a whole load of dates which looks messy.
I would like to show the values as a running total "in" the raw dates of the data.
When I show the values as "Running Total in" 'raw dates', I get a load of #NAs in the pivot table because the raw dates are not in the Axis Fields. If I select Running totals "in" the Days (which is included in the pivot table setup), I get running totals over each month, starting at zero on the first date in each month. I need to have the running total run over the course of the whole data set, not mini running totals in each month.
When I choose only the 'raw dates' in the axis fields (i.e. taking out Year, Month and Day), running total works fine. The only thing is that I lose the nice looking x-axis. Adding the raw dates to the other 3 Axis Fields also doesn't work - it doesn't even try to give a running total at all, just the original values.

Auto_xxxx() Versus Event Handlers
Apr 14, 2008By the time I started using a lot of VBA, the Auto_Open() and Auto_Close() methods' use was waning, supplanted by the _Open() and _BeforeClose() event handlers for the workbook object. So I never really got into the habit of using them.
However, I've been reading Bullen, Bovey & Green's book Professional Excel Development1 and they use Auto_Open() quite a bit. So I've been plinkin' around a bit trying to suss out the differences. Do I have this more or less correct?
If I put in both an Auto_Open() in a standard module and a Workbook_Open()in the WB's code module both execute. But if I were to have Application.EventsEnabled set to FALSE; the Auto_Open() still executes upon opening the workbook whereas the Workbook_Open() will not?2 And that since the open event handler runs before the Auto_Open() subroutine, using the Auto_Open() to insure that events are enabled does not cause the WB_Open() event handler to fire.
Auto_Close() runs even if EnableEvent = FALSE and (of course) WB_BeforeClose(...) does not fire. HOWEVER, just to make things interesting: if EnableEvents = TRUE and I hold down the SHIFT key while opening, neither of the open procedures fires. Whereas if I hold don the SHIFT key when closing, the _BeforeClose() event still gets raised; but the Auto_Close() does not run.
Does that about sum up the differences? Or are there more differences that I should be aware of?

When I use
=ABC(....,A1,....) , it works
However, when I use
=ABC(....,,....) I am getting an eror
Now , I tried using the IsEmpty function , and it seems tht when i use ,, or ,"", then the variable is not caught.. however, the variable is caught when i use an empty cell such as ,A1,
FYI, I am using the vba's formula method to assign this function to a cell. So when I use
"," & ActiveCell.Offset(to reach A1).Value & "," , I see blank ,, when A1 is empty
Excel 2007 :: Dates By Month On X-Axis In Horizontal Stacked Bar Chart?
Aug 24, 2012I am working with the Ganntt chart and horizontal bar charts but can't seem to figure out a way to force the X-Axis to behave properly.
In Excel 2007, I am trying to get the X-Axis to show major units of Months. However, in my chart options I can only change the Y-Axis to be Date/Monthly.
Changing my data layout (from the below) to be a vertical format produces the same problem, just in the other direction.
My data looks as follows:

The Blocker column is formatted as "No Fill" in order to cover a portion of the time-scale.
My X-Axis displays as random dates throughout the period and all of my data displays properly in terms of the scale on the grid.
What is NOT working is that the dates shown on the X-Axis really need to be based on a Monthly scale instead of the randomly selected dates Excel is using.

Clear All Versus Default Font Size
Jun 17, 2013I'm currently having an issue with Clear All... which sets the font to Tahoma, size 11. Font is okay, but I have my default size set to 10. Everytime I Clear All on even a single cell, the row size increases from 13.50 to 14.25 (from 17 to 20 pixels).

I researched online and put one together from stuff I've seen posted but when I email the file, the receiver can not see the image. I believe it is because "inserting" a picture only inserts a link to the picture but not the actual picture. Is there a way to embed the picture using the same macro without the sender having to send the picture and the worksheet?

Conditional Formatting To Highlight Cells With Formulas (versus Constants)
Nov 24, 2010Is it possible to use conditional formatting to highlight cells that use formulas, as opposed to having constants?
I have a sheet that uses formulas to provide a default value, but you can type in a number if you want to replace the default. I want to be able to easily identify which ones use the default formula.
If I use functions like FIND, they look at the result of a formula, and not the formula itself.
I know I can write a UDF that will figure it out but I was wondering if there is some built-in way.
