ColorIndex :: Way Of Establishing What The Color Of A Shaded Cell?
May 2, 2008Is there a way of establishing what the color of a shaded cell?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have an error message that says: Run time error '1004': Unable to set the colorIndex property of the interior class. I attached code for your reference.
If (Range("B10").Value = "Gift" Or Range("B10").Value = "Entertainment") And Range("C10").Value = "" Then
Range("C10").Interior.ColorIndex = 6
MsgBox "Please Fill in the Person's Name & Company."
Range("C10").Select
Range("C10").Interior.ColorIndex = 6
End If
See attached worksheet for reference. Is it possible (while utilizing the same spreadsheet on a weekly basis) to zero a spreadsheet subsequent to its use. Importantly however, all relevant formulas must remain perfectly intact and will re-establish themselves once relevant data is placed inside an individual cell? In this case, as soon as a “Name” (or even a letter) is referenced inside the “Name” column: H10:H19?
In other words, the entire sheet is blank bar the top date and respective headings. Once any text is placed inside cells H10:H19, the formulas from the associated Row re-applies itself to the “Week-Start” dates, “Week-End” dates and references a default “Phone” amount for ‘$10’? The Data Validation formulas I’m sure would remain undamaged? This would prevent ‘text clutter’ (such as dates extending to the bottom with no apparent referencing or connecting information?
I would like VBA code to determine the Interior.ColorIndex value of cell A1
Is there an easy way of doing that?
I have some code that runs through about 5000 rows of data looking at duplicates for column A. instead of deleting the duplicate rows, i change the font.colorindex of the cell in column a so that all cells containing xx are one color, and all cells containing xxx are colorindex+1.
Since i have about 5000 rows, colorindex limits itself to 122 (i msgbox'd each time and this is the last number i got before the subscript out of range).
Is there anyway around this, or is there a better way to pickout duplicates. remember, i can't delete duplicates, i need a way to manipulate the duplicates data once i pick them out.
I have a list of times, and I need to work out a way to establish what time interval it applies to, using a function. In production, this will be used over hundreds of entries at a time, but for the sake of example I'll cut it down to 15 times:
17:28:35
16:11:14
17:08:20
19:21:51
15:29:01
15:31:45
14:32:24
13:39:51
15:44:41
16:52:38
20:17:37
13:26:05
15:45:01
20:12:24
12:53:26
Now, there are 27 different time intervals there times can fall into:
1: 6:00 - 6:30
2: 6:30 - 7:00
3: 7:00 - 7:30
4: 7:30 - 8:00
5: 8:00 - 8:30
6: 8:30 - 9:00
7: 9:00 - 9:30
8: 9:30 - 10:00
9: 10:00 - 10:30..............
So, what I'm looking for is a formula that will match up the time to the interval. For example, it would look at 16:52:38 and output that it falls within interval 20.
I'm working on a plan with the objective to reach a 20:80 ratio from Team 1 to Team 2
The intent of the is get 80% of the work to be supported by Team 2, which currently has no team members.
Team 1 currently has 32 team members.
I am trying to to determine if I need to hire or re-deploy employees to from one team to another or to another program to achieve the objective.
The objective is to take Team 1, which is currently doing 100% of the work & reduce that work load to approximately 20%, which then Team 2 will be supporting approximately 80%.
I started a generic calculation but I believe it's wrong.
Is there a way to count shaded cells only , I am stranded in a case where I am waiting reply meanwhile I need to self sort myself with another indirect trick

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a spreadsheet with thousands rows of items on. I am trying to identify duplicate entries based on two or three cells within each row. If those two or three cells are duplicated for that particular ID then the duplicate entry (row) should be highlighted for deletion.
Better still it would be great if there was a macro or formula which would delete that duplicate row.
So for example on the spreadsheet I have attached, I would like rows 6 and 9 deleted or highlighted as the criteria for deletion is a duplication of the entry in the 'YEAR' column AND the 'VALUE' column for the REFERENCEs AB-1234 and AB-9876 which are the unique identifiers for each individual case.
This would leave the end result as per the table below on the attached spreadsheet.
I'm trying to create a formula that can display colors based on the strength of the margin of victory of a candidate, take these two examples for instance.
County
Frank
Cole
Dean
Total
MOV
MOV%
[Code]....
I want to be able to draw in the outline of these counties (or at least the cell proceeding the MOV%) displaying the color that corresponds with the winner of that county. The added twist would be to shade the color depending on the Margin of Victory (MOV) as well. The closer the vote, the lighter (or mixed?) the cell (or county) would be. If it could be at all possible I would really be cool to mix both colors so that a result 100% for one candidate would get a color 100% pure while a 17% MOV would get a color 17% more of the winning candidate than of the loser (or losers) colors. I don't think a VBA is necessary for this one.
I know that there are ColorIndex numbers associated with Excel colors. Does anyone know if there is a list of ColorIndex names like Red, Green, etc.?

I have a workbook with 25 sheets containing metric information as part of a performance management model. Fundamental to this is the visual success or failure of each of these 25 sheets which I've highlighted by setting the worksheet tab colour accordingly. The code to achieve this is detailed below. This code is triggered by the Worksheet_Change event at the workbook level and works fine in single user mode. When the workbook is shared however, an error 1004 is generated.
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
For Each c In Range("PassFail")
If c.Value = "Fail" Then
ActiveSheet.Tab.ColorIndex = 3
ElseIf c.Value = "Pass" Then
ActiveSheet.Tab.ColorIndex = 4
End If
Next c
End Sub
Summary of performance of various products against target is as follows,
Product vs Target
Color Code
Result
CH4OH
Green
1.0
[Code] ........
I need the final result automated as follows,
If 2 green of the 4 products, then final result Gree
If 2 Amber of the 4 products, then final result amber
If 2 Red of the 4 products, final result Red
Is there a way to automate this?
Below is some code I am trying to run. What I would like to do is select a certain "data row" in the pivot, and apply some conditional formatting to that. It works just fine until I reach the .colorindex = 3 line. It says I'm getting an application/object defined. how to fix this? I'm on Excel 2007. This was fine on 2000!
pvtCurrent.PivotSelect "'% Dist'", xlDataAndLabel
With Selection
With .Interior
.ColorIndex = 36
.Pattern = xlSolid
.PatternColorIndex = xlAutomatic
End With
With .FormatConditions.Add(xlCellValue, xlBetween, "0", "0.97")
With .Font
.Bold = True
.ColorIndex = 3
End With
End With
End With
I have tried to go around the long way to achieve this but came up with pages of pointless code .... I know there is a better way I just dont know enough about VB to do it myself ... And I know this is EASY for many :-)

Cell ranges h11 to as11 are a totals row.
If the total is 0, colorindex is set to vbpatternnone, if >= 1, then colorindex is set to vbpatterngray. Easy right ? I just dont kn ow how to do FROM/IF/DO range loops...
--------
Details:
The code in worksheet_SelectionChange will contain the following:
1: From range h11 to as11, variable1 = application.interior.colorindex of the cell.
2: Check if the cell is >=1 or <=0 ....
3: If >=1 then set application.interior.colorindex = vbpatterngray. Go to #5.
' (This inserts a pattern over the original color of the cell)
4: If <=0 then set application.interior.colorindex = vbpatternNONE
ALSO set application.interior.colorindex = variable1
' (This clears the cell pattern and returns it to original color)
5. Repeat steps to clear cell pattern and restore color / or insert pattern for all cells from range H11:AS11
6. End sub
I need some assistance in creating a MsgBox when an excel spreadsheet is opened and more specifically a particular sheet is opened. I'd like the Msgbox to say "Do not forget to select frequency in the blue shaded fields." I have read a guide which says just add a module in the spreadsheet eg.
Sub Msgbox ()
Msgbox "Do not forget to select frequency in the blue shaded fields."
End Sub
I am trying to use VBA in Excel 2007 to change bar chart series colors. I have found a few posts that link it to a cell background, but I'm struggling to find one that does the font color.
It would be great if I could change the bar chart series to match the color of the text in the A column, so that if I highlighted the value in A1 and changed the text color to orange for whatever reason, the chart updates the value of 1.2 to an orange bar (see below).
T. A1 B1
Sample 1 1.2
Sample 2 2.1
Sample 3 1.7
Sample 4 5.6
I have a range of cells that change colors with conditional formats based on the cell value from high to low. I would like to link the cell color to an object such as a circle or rectangle. When the cell value changes along with the conditional format, the color of the object will also change.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have got a userform with lots of controls,
One of the action's on a large group of the controls is the same but except for one number
here is an example
If TextBox107.ForeColor = 255 Then ActiveCell. Offset(0, 53).Font.ColorIndex = 3
If TextBox108.ForeColor = 255 Then ActiveCell.Offset(0, 54).Font.ColorIndex = 3
If TextBox109.ForeColor = 255 Then ActiveCell.Offset(0, 55).Font.ColorIndex = 3
This makes a cell that correlates to the textbox red if the text in the textbox is red.
Now, I loads of these textboxes that all need to run the same code with just the Offset value one digit higher than the last and I was hoping I could create a loop to avoid a huge block of code but I can't work out how to make a constant that will +1 with each loop.
Also, can I assume that a loop will start with the control with the lowest number i.e. Textbox1 and then work its way through the rest of them in order?

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is probably elementary, but I'm struggling and would appreciate any help as I have very little excel VBA experience to draw from.
I have assembled code which changes the cell color based on a value change in Column A. Column A will contain many different groups of repeating values. This code works well and and I have been able to figure out how to limit the number of colors to only 2. The end result is each set of similar values in column A is visually grouped by one of two alternating colors.
The number rows in the data set is variable as the data set is extracted from SAP. The number of columns is fixed.
What I want to do now is set the cell color in columns B through F the same color that was assigned to the row in column A. So if cell A3 is set to colorindex = 6, then I want to set the range of cells B3 to E3 to the same color.
Here is the code I am using to set the color of the cells in Column A:
I would like to be able to change the color of a cell in V4:AB31 and have the formula in AM10:AM13 automatically calculate the new result. As it is now the user has to press Ctrl ALT f9 for the formula to recalculate.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have two columns. The first one (A) contains cells that have different Fill colors. The second column (B) contains text adjacent to the colored cells. I am trying to change the color of the text in the second column (B) to the corresponding color in the adjacent cell in the first column (A). I don't think conditional formating works well in this situation. I believe the solution would be some sort of macro.
