I am trying to write a function that will compare the text of cell "A2" to the text of cell "B2" and display cell "A2"'s text characters that didnt match from cell "B2" in column C. Can anyone help me out with writing this formula?

Is it possible to compare code that's in two cells and show the differences? It's possible with Notepad++ and an extension but I have hundreds of pages to examine weekly and it's not efficient to do it manually.

It needs to look at the entire list of entries in the column as these will be email addresses. We want to know what is missing from Column A that is not in Column B and what is missing from B that is not in A.
I have attached two excel files for easier understanding of what I am trying to explain. One is named Deviltronics which is our product list, the other is named Supplier which is our suppliers product list. The suppliers product list is updated every hour to tell me of new products, products in stock, products out of stock and discontinued products. I have cut the suppliers file down considerably to get it to fit as an attachment on this thread. They currently have about 800 products. Now for how this is currently working and the problem:
I use the suppliers file to add the products to my website manually (which is fine) by using the information on the suppliers file. I also add the product title, SKU and part number from the suppliers file onto our Deviltronics file, this allows me to keep a record. The reason I need this record is so that I can use either the SKU or part number to search the suppliers file to see if a particular product is still in stock or not. You can distinguish the supplier has a lengthy product list, although we will not be putting all of there stock on our website at least 70% of it will be on there, therefore you can see how much of a lengthy process this is if I want to check the products on a daily basis......
I need to compare two worksheets, and show the final results in the Results Sheet.
These two sheets are actually .CSV files and is why some of the cells show as dates.
The SKU column is a combination of Material and Length. we need to find the difference for the Qty of SKU items.
If you look at the results page you will see what the results should be. Colored cells are just to show the differences in the example.
I saw a great code which compared the values in two columns A and B, data such as A123 and then shows, in another column ie C , things in A and not in B and in another column ie D things in B and not in A.

1. W1 has data in Column A, while W2 has none in that column (except for the header row of course).
2. W1 has rows that W2 does not have, and vice-versa.
I need code that will compare three columns in these two sheets. If the data in these three columns for a particular row match between the two worksheets, then for that row, I need the macro to copy the column A cell in W1 to the corresponding column A cell in W2. Finally, I would like an 'x' be placed into a W1 column if a match was found for that row.
The two sheets do not have the same number of rows, but the data being compared in the three columns should combine to form a unique row match between the two worksheets.
I have included a small example file. What I would like to do is compare column A - Code on -CORP REC - on first sheet, with column A -code -SUPR REC on the second sheet. Then compare the differences and insert them into the third worksheet - discrepancy -Column A- Code and Column B Name.
Also is it possible to convert all the uppercase names on sheet one to lowercase as I would like the discrepancy sheet to names to be in lower case.
If other threads list exactly this I apologize. I am not really good at using others for adaption. but I can try if you want to direct me

As per title, I am trying to compare a column of text cells which contain "Yes" or are empty and a columns of numbers. If they are "Yes" and "1" on the same row, I want to output an "OK" message. Excel seems happy with the following code but it does not work and returns an empty cell if the two conditions are true.

When we buy company 1 we need to import all of the products into our product database, however many of them are already the same. Each product has a manufacture code, and a supplier code. Company 1 uses 1 code for each product but it could be either a supplier or manufacture code - they don't use a consistent standard.
My company has a list of all supplier codes and manufacture codes for each product.
I need excel to compare the 2 companies lists and check if any of the products in their list are in my company's lists. I need excel to make a new list of any products from company 1 that are not already in the company 2 product list. The products that are not already in my list will need to be looked at manually, and so need to be easily identifiable after the matching (ie in their own list or the ability to copy into a new list.
This is a physical inventory process. An employee, using a barcode reader, will populate the cells of one column in a worksheet with asset IDs that are located at a facility. Once done, the employee must compare the cell values of the worksheet that he or she has populated to the cell values of the inventory roster. The desired outcome is to produce a plus/delta report based on the comparison of the two worksheets.

I have come up with a cumbersome formula which will let me check if either of the two strings is a member of a list stored on another sheet. However, it fails if there is only one string in the cell, presumably as there is no linefeed for the formula to find. How can I modify the formula to cope with this situation?
There are also on occasions, three strings in the cell, but I can't seem to access the middle string with the formula. Simplified spreadsheet attached to show the problem. This must be formula-based, as we have a no VBA policy. If you think there is better way of doing this, please let me know.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a dataset of shifts and want to compare each shift that needs to be filled to a list of requests for time off (vacation, etc).
For one cell the code is: =IF(ISERROR(SEARCH(B1, A1), 0,1)
Where A1 is the column of requests in comma delimited forme (ie: "AB,CD,EF").
Where B1 is the column containing the person assigned to shift 1 (ie: "AB")
In this case, would return a "1" as no error was returned, as AB was found in the list. Here "1" would represent a schedule conflict.
Without creating many cells for each shift- there are 20 shifts- can I create an array or string together this type of "SEARCH" function?

I have two lists of data as below, and I want to find a match after excluding "Ltd" or "Limited"
example
If Cell A1 is "ABC Limited", and Cell B1 is "ABC Ltd"
This should show as a "match", otherwise it should show error.
I have the following:
cell B2 value = "P1'08"
cell C2 Value = "P11'09"
cell H1 Value = "P4'09"
The value stands for the Periodnumber and a Year so P1'08 stands for period 1 in the year 2008.
In cell H2 I want the following:

I have a excel file that tracks completion rates and has lots of formulas but there is one that I cannot figure out.
I want a formula that will display "not completed in time" (for example) if completion isn't 100% by the planned completion date. The problem I have is that I want to have a record of this and if the completion rate becomes 100% after the planned completion date it will no longer show "not completed in time". Is there a way to setup a formula that will show data in a cell if the formula has EVER met certain criteria.
I have a cell (A1) that is referenced to another cell in the workbook ('Sheet1!'B1) by an if statement. I then have another cell that I want the value to show up if there is a value in (A1), If there not a value (Shown in A1). i do not want to show the value. Howeverwith the formula I have. I can delete the (A1) reference value (which shows nothing) and replace if with either a (0 or delete the contents of the cell and it works.

I've a spreadsheet and I need to find cells in Column A that contains certain text and subsequently being able to compare the data in 2 other cells (column F and Column J) and post the results of comparison in Column L. Please see the tables below:
In this table, if Range("A1") contains abc, then data in Range("f1") would be compared against Range("J1"). If F1 = J1, then Range("L1") would say "ok" otherwise "needs to check" as in Rows 2.

I have text in one cell and I need a text box to show the text from that cell.
For example, if I have text in B2, on a text box I put the forumla =B2. The issue I'm experiencing is that the text box cuts off the text. There's no logic to why it cuts off the text, it's not limited to number of characters and I've played about with the margins and wrap texting, etc, all to no avail.

How can I set a formula to populate a cell if another cell is non-blank? I want a cell to display a number if another cell is not blank.
I'm guessing its an IF formula but I can't get it right.
Lets say cells A1 to A5 contain these lines of information:
Till 174 (T0215) - till keeps turning itself off.
Till 245 - stuck on windows screen
116 - keyboard is unresponsive
Berkel Scale is constantly beeping

How can I show only the numbers from these cells (i.e. B1 will be 174, B2 will be 245 etc...)? As you can see the number isn't always in the same place, and doesnt always have the same characters either side.
In a range of cells (e.g. B26-B40) I have names (first name and second name or first initial and second name). This data is carried from sheet 1 to the second sheet via formula. Some cells may be blank as well.
