Concatenate Cells To Produce Full Postal Address

Feb 7, 2009

I am trying to simplify the manipulation of data to create a full postal address from a range of cells.

Due to the varied way in which postal addresses are made up, I have found it necessary to create a 2nd Worksheet, which uses helper columns to ensure that spaces and commas appear in the right places.

I recently came across some code on this site from JBeaucaire which I have tried out but in my particular workbook, the commas and spaces do not come out correctly.

The enclosed sample workbook contains a selection of addresses which should cover most of the variations for addresses in the way that they are entered in my main workbook.

Sheet1 (Master) is the main data.
Sheet2 shows the formulas that I have used to create a full postal address.
Sheet3 makes use of a VBA Module and shows the results.

I felt that VBA code is the right way to go but I'm unable to modify the code to make it work or come up with an alternative VBA solution.

Produce A Full Result From A Partial Entry

Jan 30, 2009

I have a column of consignment numbers in this location
Sheet Name: C NUMBER
Reference: C3:C10000

I have an entry field for which people may type their Consignment number in at this location to search for possible match
Sheet Name: Query
Reference: Cell D10

I would like to be able to allow a portion of the number be typed in to D10 and then have Cell D11 show the full first match from that partial entry.
Thank you,

Get Full Address Of External File By Specifying Filename And Then Evaluate

Jan 9, 2014

I'm really looking for a way to get the full address of the external file by specifying the file name in a cell and then evaluate the formula. For example,

[Code] .....

is the full address of the source file called 'Source'. My idea is: if I just type the file name 'Source' in a workbook's cell $A$1, and in cell $B$1 I want to make the formula something like:

="C:Users["&$A$1&".xlsx]Sheet1'!$F$1"

This will make my project very impressive with this feature: a user just types the file name to establish the link and evaluate the formula for results.

Using If Statement To Produce Results Based On 2 Cells

Nov 25, 2011

I was trying to use an if statement to produce results based on 2 cells. The number in the 1st cell can be the number 1 to 5, but each number has critera with it. Say the cell is A1 and i enter the number 1. Then i want to check the value of Cell A5, if this is less than 40 then the cell A10 should read 250 and if A5 was over 40 then it should read 285. struggled to get a formula properly to work.

Here are the values for each number: A1 = 1 with cell A5

Comparing One Postal Code With A List

Sep 9, 2013

My problem is this: I'm looking to compare a single postal code (in the left most column below) against an entire list (rightmost column) and see if there are any matches. Normally this would be very easy, except that the postal code list I have (on the right) is all partials (it only includes the first 4 characters of the postal code). I need the formula to register a match if thewhole postal code I'm testing has the incomplete postal code I'm testing for in it at all.

So far I've tried using VLOOKUP, MATCH, and IF with no luck. I don't think wildcards work in these functions... (otherwise this would be quite easy!)

Format Canadian Postal Code On Entry

Feb 5, 2007

I can't find a custom format to validate a properly formatted Canadian postal code on entry, so I think my last hope is to ask someone to write me a VBA code.

Canadian postal codes consist of six characters with a space in the middle: a capital letter, a number, a capital letter, a space, a number, a capital letter, and a number.

Therefore, M2A 3J4 is a properly formated postal code.

I want a code to fix an improperly fomatted postal code (such as M2A3J4 or m2a3j4 or m3a 2j4) on entry.

Excel 2007 :: Conditional Formatting Empty Cells Based On Full Cells?

Nov 17, 2011

Working in Excel 2007. I am using excel for a data log (basically) and want it to format all empty cells in a row yellow if there is data in column A

Basically, If i have a value in A2, I want any empty cell between B2-G2 to be filled in yellow (as an idicator to the inputter that the cell needs to be completed).

there is already conditional formatting on these cells, which i want to maintain for the non-empty cells. I also have "0" as a value, so I couldn't use the basic conditional formatting setting it =0, it highlighted cells with $0.00, which i do not want.

Concatenate A Range Of Cells (A + B + C = ABC)

If my first three cells look like this:
A1 = Adam
A2 = Bob
A3 = Chris

I'd like cell A4 to say "AdamBobChris". I'm not worried about punctuation at this point. I thought I could just do =concatenante(A1:A3), but that's not working.

Concatenate Cells And Add Text

Feb 6, 2009

I cant quite get this, I have 4 cells in one row (a selection and can be any row), I need to string the values together and add some simple text.

Example:

Assume row 1 and columns A, B, C, D.

496 | 6d7 | Minor | Ø.375 +/-.010

What I need this to read as one long string:

#496, 6d7, Minor, Ø.375 +/-.010

Adding the text in Red.

Column A may be a single digit or up to 10 digits in length. Once the string is configured I want to copy it and manually paste in another application. If the string is placed any where else in the worksheet for formatting, it can be deleted after the copy/paste or macro end.

Concatenate Several Cells If Not Blank

Jun 8, 2007

I am attempting to concatentate several cells (10 to be exact). I only want to include cells that are not blank in the output. I searched the topics and found a similar problem. I attempted to modify that solution to fit my needs but I obviously do not quite understand exactly how it worked. I have attached a sample. The expected results are that if in row 1
columns a through j have any value they will then be concatenated or joined in some other fashiion seperated by a comma. I only want to include non blank values. I have placed the code that I attemted to use in this post.

=IF( COUNTBLANK(GL41:GU44)=0,GL41&", "&GM41&", "&GN41&", "&GO41&", "&GP41&", "&GQ41&", "&GR41&", "&GS41&", "&GT41&", "&GU41,IF(ISBLANK(GU41),""&GL41,GL41&", "&GU41))

Some of these cells are merged as indicated in the range of countblank().

Concatenate Cells Using Delimiter

Mar 7, 2008

I receive multiple worksheets containing transaction data with multiple numbers of row and columns. The data columns contain varying types of information like: price, quantity, location1, location2, loading dock, transaction date, buy/sell, purchaser, seller, currency unit, etc.

I have a need to concatenate into a single cell in a blank column, data from a number of cells in each row -- sometimes two cells, sometimes more. In some instances, I'd like to concatenate data for location1 and location2 with a delimiter like a semicolon-and-a-space to create a cell with: "location1; location2" Or in another instance, I'd like to concatenate multiple cells in a row, like: "location1; price; quantity; transaction date", etc.

I'm looking to create a macro that, with the cursor in a blank cell in a blank row, would open an input box, ask a user to select with the cursor the cells in the row to concatenate and then concatenate them into the blank cell in the row.

Ideally, the macro would populate the entire blank column with the concatenated data for the group of selected cells (from the same columns as in the row where the cells to be concatenated were selected) for each row where there is data. It is also possible that some cells in some rows of the selected columns would contain no data. In that case, I'd be looking to return just the delimiter, like: "location1; ; quantity; transaction date"

Right now, with no macro, I do it by hand like this:

To concatenate into cell I6, the contents of cells A6, B6, G6 and H6, I do a "=CONCATENATE(A6,"; ",B6,"; ",G6,"; ",H6)" in blank cell I6, but I'm looking for a way to do it fast in a macro that would fill in all of Column I.
