I am try to copy a worksheet "exactly" from one workbook to another, i.e. all formulas and range names reference the new workbook and not link back to to the workbook they were copied from. The code below brings the formulas and named ranges over still referencing the source workbook: SourceWB.Sheets(sht).Copy after:=TargetWB.Sheets(sht)

I need to copy a range of values (actually two ranges). The ranges are of fixed size. Le't say A2:D20 and E2:H20.
Both workbooks have the exact same layout, and they both have the same named worksheet (in this case it's called Entry). However the actual filename of the source workbook is unknown. I know numerous users have changed the filename of the xls file.
I want to instruct them to open the old and new workbook, and open a third workbook containing the copy macro, they run the macro and it copies the data.
How can I reference a known worksheet name but of an unknown workbook name esp when the source and destination share the worksheet name?
I'im using an index - match - match formula with links to an external file.
Everything works fine until I close the source workbook. At that moment the liks break. The error I'm getting is #REF!.
I suspect the reason is that the source data are in form of an official table. I tried some formulas with data in the same workbook but outside the table and they keep working after the source file is closed.
I really want to keep the source data in a form of an official excel table.
I built a template which pulls data from the source file using formulas. the problem is formulas doesn't give any error it updates the right value when the source workbook is open.
I Thought problem could be with the formula and tried just Source A1=destination A1. it also updates only if the source file is open. when the source file is closed it shows the last captured value.
The source file is on the (Work) Network Drive and is accessible to few people. my template is password protected (tabs) so formulas cannot be deleted.
how to protect a worksheet from editing and at the same time allow all data source links within the sheet to be refreshed? I need my users to be able to refresh all data links as required but not be able to change the worksheet in any other way.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to perform a copy & paste operation by hand which to me should be easy in theory. I have a worksheet whose formulas have been corrupted. I have a backup of this sheet- I'd like to copy the backup sheet into the workbook. The problem is that the formulas, which reference other worksheets within the workbook, are copied over as links to the backup workbook instead of the new workbook they are being copied too. This seems simple, but how do I copy the worksheet and the references without having to go through all of the references by hand to only apply to the local book.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a master price list that will have items added or removed from it occasionally. I have sixty workbooks that contain detailed data on mixes of multiple products from the master price list. All the corresponding prices throughout the sixty workbooks are linked to their specific slot on the master price list. The problem: if the sixty workbooks are closed and anyone adds a new row to the master price list, when I open any of the workbooks the values update but the referenced cell does not.
So if the price for Product 25 is located in cell K118, and two products are added in above K118, when I open any of my mix sheets that contain Product 25 the linked cell should be to K120. But it's not doing it that way. It is holding on to the referenced K118 cell and updating the value to the wrong price.
I've played around with the VLOOKUP function but haven't been able to make it work. Linking the cell as I have has worked great, if I could just get it to adjust the reference as new rows are added to the source workbook.
I've figured out that it will update the workbooks when I add a row if all that are required are open when the addition is made. But my boss will not open sixty workbooks every time a change needs to be made to the master price list, which he controls.
I often have Excel sheets in which Excel tells me there are hyperlinks and content from other sources. I guess it happens because I copy something from one sheet to another.
First, is it possible to copy-and-paste from a sheet to another and only copy the concrete formulas and formats, and no source to the old file?
Secondly, how can I detect where these hyperlinks and links to other sources are? I see they exists, but I can't seem to find them. Does Excel have such function? Can I detect them with a VBA script?

The Sheet names are auto generated when I run this canned report but the naming structure is always the same...the first worksheet is named Repair Details and then the next sheet is named Repair Details_1, the next sheet is named Repair Details_2 and so on for every sheet in workbook. So I would like to copy all of the data(Headers to last cell) and then paste in a worksheet(ex: Master Repair Report.xlsx and the worksheet could be titled Master Repair Details) on a different workbook, then the next sheet would copy from the one under the header to the last record and paste to the same workbook. I have created an excel worksheet that will provide budgeting and estimating tools for my project managers. All data used to be manual entry and took a good while to complete. I am trying to automate the process with VBA.
I created a UserForm called InfoVerify1. On that form I have TextBox 1 - 10. When the UF opens, the boxes display project information from my worksheet called "Basis of Estimate", also known as Sheet26.
The TextBox1 ControlSource is set to "E4". When I run the macro with Sheet26 active, the proper information fills in. However, when I am on the Start page or any other worksheet and I run the macro, it tries to fill in the text boxes with E4, etc, from the active sheet. I tried changing the ControlSource to "Sheet26,E4" or any combo thereof with only error messages.
how to get it to refer to a cell on a particular worksheet and hold to that worksheet no matter which sheet I am on at the time I run the Userform?
I want see if it's possible to take the name of the source workbook and put it in a cell in my destination workbook and then use that as the reference in formulas. The source document title includes a date that changes yearly, or in some instances changes entirely, and I want to keep the formulas in the destination workbook intact. I don't want to have to go to every instance where I have used the source workbook and change the title. Instead I would like to copy the source workbook title, paste it into the destination in the same cell and have that propogate the needed changes into the destination workbook formulas.

View 14 Replies View RelatedThough VBA I am trying to copy one worksheet into a new workbook. This worksheet contains Graphs which point to other datasheets in the same workbook.
I first copy the data worksheets, then I copy over the worksheet with graphs. However the graphs link to the original worksheet name- not to the datasheets in the same workbook as the newly created workbook. This is a problem since I am going to send this other workbook to users and they won't have access to the orginal datasheet.
I copy the sheets using the code:

Where the worksheet DIVISION is the worksheet containing the graphs and the data sheets are already copied there.
The macro below copies certain sheets from one workbook to another, however the worksheets are protected in the original but when they are copied to the new workbook the protection is removed. Is there any way to keep them protected once copied?
I also have a couple of buttons with macros assigned to them one of which I would like to remove when the worksheets are copied to the new workbook, is this possible?
