Count Dates & String Dates After Given Date
May 14, 2008
The attached workbook has dates in column C, although some of these dates are just strings.
I'm trying to write some vba that will tell me how many of the cells in column C contain a date (or looks like a date) that is greater than (after) the real date in cell G1.
At the moment I loop through the cells in column C and can ascertain, which dates can be counted, then copy one row over at a time, but I'm looking for a slicker (perhaps one-liner) answer, perhaps by copying a block of rows in one go. The aim is to copy those rows to another sheet. There are many more rows than in the attached, and many sheets to process, and I have no control over the format of the dates/strings in column C. Currently it takes about 20 seconds to copy over the necessary rows, but I'm looking for it to happen much more quickly; current thoughts are to sort on column C (sorting on column C anything that looks like a number as a number - which has it's own problems!), have a count of dates satisfying the criterion (say using a worksheet formula such as COUNTIF or SUMPRODUCT, perhaps also using EVALUATE) then copy a block of rows in one go.
not very relevant, but the existing code is something like this which highlights rather than copyies the rows(included in the attached): ...

I have a spreadsheet with reference relating to dates that are listed as single days. I am trying to convert the single dates relating to a reference to a from and to date but i'm having problems.
Example

048051_14111/09/2013
048051_14112/09/2013
048051_14113/09/2013
041929_14115/10/2013
041929_14116/10/2013
041929_14117/10/2013
041929_14118/10/2013
I want this to read
048051_141from - 10/09/2013 - to - 13/09/2013
041929_141from - 15/10/2013 - to -18/10/2013

Basically I have 2 columns each with a list of dates in no particular order (and containing blank cells too), one planned date column and one actual date column.
What I need to do is plot this on a graph, and since the number of dates has no set limit and I dont want to have to plot maybe 100 dates on the x axis, so i want to group them by week before plotting them, i.e. 10 dates for week ending 10th jan, 25 dates for week ending 17th jan etc
I have a pivot table that counts how many of each date occurs, i.e. 10 x 2nd jan, 7x 3rd jan etc etc but it does not split them into weeks.
im sure theres an easyish way of doing it so i can get the 2 lines on the graph for no. of planned dates each week and no. of actual dates each week, i just cant see it.

Today I am having a very annoying problem that really has me stumped – I need to work out the lag between a Due Date and Delivered Date
But as people sometimes manage to deliver on the Due Date it needs to show a zero (as in they got it in on time) but using the formula below the result is a 1 and I want a zero
Can anyone help me please? I have tried putting assorted -1s in to the formula and it looks like it might work until I copy down and find that if a person delivered one day early the result shows -3 for example!

I've got a 2007 Excel spreadsheet that will count dates within a range using the COUNTIFS function. I am having to send this spreadsheet to users that only have Excel 2003. I need to know how to convert this so it works in 2003.
Since I'm doing this for a fiscal year I have to use a date range. Here are my two formulas I'm trying to convert:
=COUNTIFS(D9:D25,">3/1/08",D9:D25,"<6/30/08")
and
=COUNTIFS(D9:D25,">7/1/08",D9:D25,"<6/30/09")

I am trying to count the number of instances of dates that occur in a single column. For example, I want to be able to count the total # of dates that occur between Jun and July, then a different count of dates occurring between Aug and Dec (see example below). I have tried this formula: =SUMPRODUCT((E11:E149>=1/8/2008)*(E11:E149<=12/31/2009)) but it comes back with zero.
Column A
---------
1/8/2008
5/8/2008
8/18/2008
9/18/2008

I have a sheet named "XYZ Activity" with meeting dates in column B starting with cell B4. There are duplicates in this list, that should only be viewed as one meeting. On another sheet, each company that attends the meeting has a specific join date found in Column C (C4 is the first company start date). I am trying to figure out an equation that will count how many meetings the company could have attended. I already calculate the total meetings they have attended using either of the following equations:
=COUNT(1/FREQUENCY(IF('XYZ Activity'!$C$4:$C$4000=A3,IF('XYZ Activity'!$B$4:$B$4000<>"",'XYZ Activity'!$B$4:$B$4000)),IF('XYZ Activity'!$C$4:$C$4000=A3,IF('XYZ Activity'!$B$4:$B$4000<>"",'XYZ Activity'!$B$4:$B$4000))))
=SUM(IF(FREQUENCY(IF('XYZ Activity'!C$4:C$5000=A4,IF('XYZ Activity'!G$4:G$5000="Yes",MATCH('XYZ Activity'!B$4:B$5000,'XYZ Activity'!B$4:B$5000,0))),ROW('XYZ Activity'!B$4:B$5000)-ROW('XYZ Activity'!B$4)+1),1))

Its a training list, and I want to count the number of staff with valid training dates, I want to keep invalid dates as a reminder and I also have text N/A to disregard. Have used an IF function array but there are approx 33 column entries I want to add and using array function limits the amount of formula entries up to column 24.
Would be much easier if I used data validation to kick out the invalid date entries but we want to keep them if possible.

How do I do this?

The data that i was using has been changed and they have decided to change the format of the dates and dropped the year reference no all i have to work with is dates like 27-07 this represents 27th July i can format this date to work fine unless the date falls before 1 jan this year all i get is lots of numbers and it stuffs up the whole calculation.
The formula i am using to compare the dates is
=DATEDIF(N31,$D$1,"d")

How do I manage to count the no. of records with equal dates at the same row?
I have used the following but this gives me zero, while in the example below the result should be 3.
=COUNTIFS(DataContractualStartDate,DataContractualEndDate)

If I have a cell that contains a sentence and part of a date, for example "delivery due 01/09", I would like a formula that reads that cell, identifies the 01/09 bit and returns 01/09/2014.
The only trouble is that the date would always be variable, so it's more a case of "delivery due #/#"... if that's even possible.

Formula that will return a string of dates (in values so that I use the cell for additional formula).
For example:
A1 B1 C1:to whatever cell needed, to be autofilled with day, date, month, year, weekdays only.
Start Date 2013/07/04 Monday, July 1, 2013
It would be really nice if it highlights the local holidays too.

I have hit an issue when tranfering a string date from VBA to excel, excel thinks the string is US format and swaps around the days and months even though the system and excel are setup for UK date format:
Simple example of the problem:
Sub test()
Dim testy As String
testy = Now
'testy will equal 04/10/2007 17:20
Range("A1").Value = testy
'A1 will equal 10/04/2007 17:20
End Sub
Now I know in this example that if I used DateValue(testy) it would work, but our situation is a bit more complex as we are running this is a loop testy is not always a date.

I'm working on a sheet for our accounting section which has been in use for quite some time, which means, that I'm not supposed to change a hell of a lot in it since it's accounting and everybody is afraid of changes.
Coming to the point, I have the following problem:
(1) I have a date.
(2) I need that date in this format: "mm-yyyy", written in a certain cell.
(3) BUT: the cell should NOT contain the date itself, but JUST the text (some tables in the background need this format)
(4) Changing the cell to text-format is not eligible, since it puts an " ' " in front of the numbers.
(5) The cell should be formatted as a number.
So, in conclusion:
I need a string/number with the date in this format: "mm-yyyy" in the cell formatted .NumberFormat = "0".
I'm working on an existing workbook...
I decided to add some code and a screenshot. This code will return the number, which lies behind the date, and write it into the cell. So that's not what I want, but maybe the code clarifying what I need anyway.
The screenshot shows the wanted output : screenie.png

I have a sheet with a date and the number of months on it which will change. I need the sheet to list the dates in a column for each month automatically: e.g. Two cells contain date “jan07” and the period “10” months. The rows A1 to A10 should have jan07…jan16 listed automatically. If I change then change the number of month to 11 I would like the rows A1 to A11 to update automatically.

I'm trying to make a simple chart, which maps the value of an investment fund over time. I wanted to use the new 'Table' feature within Excel 2010 to format and maintain the formulae within the Table, and the 'Header' for the table contains the date, which is not at regular intervals.
If I opt not to use the Table feature, I can create a line-chart with ease, and Excel recognises that the Dates are indeed dates and plots the graph correctly. The minute I convert over to a Table, the Date headers are no longer recognised as dates, and are instead plotted as if they were text, at regular intervals.
I've tried multiplying the Date Headers by 1 to force them back to true Dates, but this still does not work. I've also changed the setting on the horizontal axis to Date axis rather than automatic, but still no joy.

I am in strange situation where I have a data with Invoice Dates. These dates are in Text. However, when I convert it into reall excel dates. For some reason the dates do not come right. convert my text dates into excel real dates. I did a lot of google search and apply these three methods but all of these gave me strange result I was not expecting. These are the methods I used and the result of each method.
Method 1 : Using Text to Column Wizard (Excel 2007)
I highlighted invoice column and went into text to column wizard. I clikced on Date button, and selected MDY format. Strangely enough, my result was day, month and year i.e. DMY which does not seem right.
Then I press Control ~ on this data as shown in second view.

2nd Method - Using formula to convert text date to real dates When I used formula, I get the following result. As you can see, formula is converting text dates into different system dates than the first method.Further strange things is when I take these system dates i.e. 4283 and in 2007 excel format use "Short Date" the same system date gets converted into wrong year as shown in the second view.

A3 to BF3 are sales. Days without sales are 0.00
I want to pick a range of dates and find the number of days without sales between those dates. So, a formula that will look to a start date in A1 and an end date in B2, and then count the number of days that did not have sales between. Index/Match/Countif/Dateif I can't seem to make anything work.
