Find the sorting method of dates in excel 2010. I have dates in one column and i want to sort it, but I am not able to sort in ascending or descending order.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a large spreadsheet which lists individual dates over two years and circulation figures next to each date. Sometimes there are two entries for a particular date e.g. 1/10/08 there were 150 readers of magazine A and 200 readers of magazine B. When displaying this on a graph it give a bar for each day, whereas I would like a bar for each week.
Is there a formula to convert the individual dates into weeks and then total the circulation figures for that week?
Column A = Dates
Column B = Circulation Figures

I pull this data from an Oracle POWER PIVOT and always have trouble grouping the dates when they come from Power Pivot. Currently working as analyst so figuring this out would make life so much easier as I could group by months etc.
One cool feature of 2010 is ability to (right click on dates) and Group them into Quarters.
How to change the Quarters to be in line with e.g. Financial Year, as opposed to fiscal years? i.e. have a start date of say June?
My input data for Pivot table has a column named "Month". The month values are like April 07, April 08, Nov07 in random order for period between Jan 07 to Aug 08.
When I create a pivot Table, this column is sorted alphabetically (April 07 is followed by April 08) but I need it to be sorted in the ascending order with respect to month (April 07 is followed by May 07).
I further use this data to plot a Pivot Chart. There is another issue here. I want to use separate colors for each series. I do not know how to achieve above 2 things.
I am trying to sort multiple values in ascending order (example attached) however I can't get this to work. Tried looking at a few different forums and although there is plenty of sorting questions out there they all tend to be relating to dates not different values (i.e text and numbers).

I need the sheet to list the dates in a column for each month automatically: e.g. Two cells contain date “jan07” and the period “10” months. The rows A1 to A10 should have jan07…jan16 listed automatically. If I change then change the number of month to 11 I would like the rows A1 to A11 to update automatically.

I have a source table that has approx 5000 lines on it, everything looks correct and all the dates are in the correct (Australian) format. However when I use it to make a pivot table, any dates that are before the 12/m/yyyy gets changed to the mmddyyyy format in the pivot table only, all the source dates are still correct.
See attached spreadsheet. I would like to take all the departments (column a) and all the dates (column b) and group them. Then add up the sums for columns (e and f) respectively. See desired result in spreadsheet for entire range. How do I do that?

I have my date list in a2:a503 with weekly dates ie. 2/12/2009, 9/12/2009, 16/12/2009 etc etc,
what I would like to do is 1st group all these dates as dec 09 in b2:b503, 2nd point is I would like to have cell c2 to have lowest date (in my example 2/12/2009) and d2 to have the highest (which is 16/12/2009) of that month
ie start date 2/12/2009 end date 16/12/2009.

How I can sort all the data based upon the "Date"? The date data is not recognized when I copy/paste.
I wanted to determine the number of days between two dates. Specifically, if the initial date is in one month, and the second is in a different month and an output would result a number of days in each month until the final date. BUT I have a large amount of data to do this for in a list view, way to put a formula in excel and just drag down the entire list to get the required information. see below for an example.
The result I'm looking for is the separate the months and only show the relevant months between the two dates in one cell or the adjacent. Something similar to the table outlined below.

Have a simple Pivot table that i have grouped in 14 day buckets.
Currently, the date range looks like this:
1/21/2013 - 2/3/2013
However, I want the range to show the 'last' date only.
Is there a simple way to do this? I just can not see it in the format cells menu...

I am trying to sort a column of data in ascending order but I am not getting the results I expect. An example of the data held in the cells is:

When I sort it in ascending order it sorts like:
4972-10A
4972-1A
4972-1B
4972-2A
4972-3C......................
I have a file having 9000 rows with S.No. 1,2,3,4 etc. ,in ascending order.It has downloaded from available system in the company.
Can it be possible the file be in the format of desired sheet ( attach file ) through macro working or excel formulaes which is best suitable for the achieving?

Need code for automaticcally sort data in ascending order any time there was a change in score. The names column is b1:43 and the corresponding score would be in column c1:43. I can't seem to do it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am using 2010 to write some code for a spreadsheet that will be used in 2007, so I know that RepeatLabels is not available.
My question is if you Group a date field by Months and Years and the data spans across 2 or more different years, is there a way to hide months in a specific year? I ask because the Date field has only 12 months in it and if I hide Jan (for example) it hides Jan in both years. (attached pic of filter for Date field below.)
Is there some other way to format it so it can discern between years or do I need to add yet another column to my original data?

The first part of this code is fine and completes all the borders.
The second part is to the all the workbook by Data Sort in ascending order starting with
Column C
Then Q
Then column V
But also knowing to search to the last line. I think i might be close but not close enough for this to work.

I have a checkbook register set up in Excel, and I really like it. I thought it would be good to set up a pivot table to organize all of the entries into an expense report. I have done this for over a year now, and I love everything about it, but here is the problem:
Now that I am getting so many entries, I thought it would be a good feature to limit the pivot table to a date range. I created 2 entry cells at the top of the pivot table to put a start and end date. I would like the pivot table to compare the entries in the register to the dates, and only include the entries between those dates. How do I do this?
I would like to use a pivot table to manipulate my data. However, I need to be able to select data within my data set by a range of dates (usually a week). Is there a way to use a pivot table but reduce the data set by a user enter range of dates?
The date field is the first column in my data sheet.
I have created a time sheet in excel (see attached) that will be part of the larger workbook that will be linked with other sheets to auto fill in most fields. I am wondering if there is a way for an user to enter a Month and a Year at the top of the page and that in turn automatically fills in the days of the month by week.
So in attached sheet there are 5 boxes representing 5 weeks in a month. So if we used May 2014 as an example I would like to know if there is a way that once May 2014 is entered in up to top that. Excel fills in the dates in Week #1 with under Thursday showing 1st, under Friday showing 2nd as on for the entire month...
So as the month go by all user has to do is state the month and year and excel fills in the weekly dates for each day in month.
