Counting Additional Entries On A Linked Spreadsheet
Sep 29, 2009
I have two worksheets, 'monthly budget' and 'summary sheet'.
Summary sheet has been set up so that any additional records added to 'Monthly Budget' will be copied using the formula below (kindly provided by Cheeky Charlie yesterday):-
I have set up a unique entry count on 'summary sheet' which is currently showing 5. If I add a new name 'Jim' to the 'Monthly budget' sheet, this is copied on the 'summary sheet' however the unique entry count remains at 5.
I have a list of names in column A with monthly budget figs next to them in columns B,C,D etc. At the bottom of the list there is a total spend summary on line 7. This spreadsheet is then pasted with links to a separate worksheet (see example)
If an additional name is added to the list in Row 7 in the original list, the total is now in row 8 - how do I ensure that the linked sheetl picks up this addition?
(I have a project where I am drawing data from numerous worksheets. I have paste linked them as tabs to a summary worksheet so that funtions such as SUMIF can update when the file is closed or open)
I am trying to use a pivot table to track the number of H, M, and L difficulty projects carried by each employee. The pivot table appears to set itself up correctly, listing the names of each employee and recognizing that the possible entries are H, M, and L. The attached image "Capture" shows the results of one project leader.
The problem I have is that it does not show correct project totals, it shows "0" for every entry. For example, instead of showing "15" H level projects for BGa, it shows "0".
If I manually enter an "L" into the overview sheet instead of a link to a cell in the individual project spreadsheet, that entry will show up in the pivot table totals. In the attached image, I manually entered 4 L level entries into the project, but there are several more H,M, and L ranked entries assigned to this employee that aren't included in the sum. I have tried using "Count" and "Sum" in the pivot table properties without success.
I am using a spreadsheet as a score sheet for a competition. One of the columns is the student's GPA. After entering all the scores there are duplicate final scores. I need a way to have it look at the final score and then use the GPA so that it will not put a duplicate value in the final column.
al Column N is the Total Column, Column O has the Names that correspond to the Total Column. Currently I am taking this total and putting it into Column Q (High Scores) in high to low order. Column R should have the names that match the scores. But with duplicate scores, it is only putting the first name associated with the score. I would like to use the GPA as a final determining factor for the duplicate scores. The higher GPA would come before a lower GPA. I have tried to put an additional column to bring the GPA over to correspond with the High Scores Column, but could not get it to work. There are actually more names for the competition and the top 10 will be moved to a different sheet and further judged. I have attached a sample with the exact formulas that I am using.
I created 14 spreadsheets for each of my call center agents to monitor their metrics. I password protected all then placed the originals on the network. The 14 sheets have 1 cell within them that are linked up to their relevant agent cell in a separate spreadsheet. This spreadsheet is located on the network and automatically updates every hour.
I have monitored the the spreadsheets and updates etc for a while now and everything seemed to be working perfect. So I decided to slowly roll it out by placing a shortcut on 3 agents desktops. I quickly discovered that they were not seeing any updates as I had seen prior to the roll out. I go to the folder within the network and check all spreadsheets and I see all spreadsheets working and updating successfully.
So I thought maybe it was because they were password protected. I removed the protection and the 3 agents saw their spreadsheets update successfully on their computers, the next hour as I had hoped BUT the hour following however they did not see a further update again.
I am trying to set up a spreadsheet with linked dynamic drop down lists, based on a table.Using the OFFSET function, I have managed to get this to work if the table is on the SAME sheet at the drop down lists. But I want to be able to put the drop down lists onto a different sheet, so that I can lock and hide the table.
I don't want to use the 'name based on the previous column' idea, as the table is large and will change weekly. the drop downs show all values, even duplicates, which I would like to get rid of.
I have a userform with a textbox and would like the user to type inside the textbox which in turn send the text typed to a cell on my spread sheet say sheet 1 cell ref A1. I am writing the following into the control source Sheet1!A1 but the control source does not except this. I am using excel 2007 .
Column A contains names Column B their unique ID number Column C the date a transaction occurred
How can I count the number of entries between two dates i.e. 1-31 April regardless of duplication or anything? I've tried a few things mentioned in other threads but none seem to work.
My spreadsheet contains two text columns that represent dates and times; 11/21/2007 and 0935 for example. The rows are populated with the date and time for every event during a 48 hour period. A single worksheet may contain up to 3,000 events (rows).
How do I create a subtotal for the number of events in each of the forty-eight 1-hour periods?
I have two colums. In A1:A4 are ticket numbers of products made. In B1:B4 are the number of stillages that the tickets relate to. What i am trying to work out, is a formula that will calculate the number of stillages produced based on the fact that each ticket number begins with "150". I have tried using COUNTIF, MATCH and FIND functions, but when i does work, will only return a value of 1.
I need to count the number of unique names (column A) on 3 separate worksheets. Each worksheet represents a facility that people visit. It is possible that the same person will visit all three facilities. If this is the case I want to only count them once, even though they may have numerous entries on each.
I need to get the same result as if I was to copy and paste all of the names from three spreadsheets on to one (which isnt an option) and then count unique names. To do this on one sheet I have been using =sumproduct((A1:A100<>"")/countif(A1:a100,A1:A100))
Im trying to make an excel spreadsheet for work for working out how many of each product and individual staff member has sold
I have 2 columns one with staff and one with what they sold e.g.
Staff Member - Sales Staff 1 - prod A Staff 2 - prod B Staff 3 - prod A Staff 2 - prod C Staff 1 - prod A
and have another table, the one that i want to populate, that looks like this
Staff 1 prod A = prod B = prod C =
Staff 2 prod A = prod B = prod C =
etc
I cant seem to find a function that will work out how many of prod A staff 1 has sold and how many prod B he has sold etc
i have tried things like countif but i cant seem to get them to link the staff member and sales boxes together, the only way i can think of is to write down an equation for each line, but i have hundreds of sales and that would takes ages
I run an online golf tour and I need a little help with the coding of my handicap excel sheet. (For any golfers out there this is a custom handicap system, not the R&A version).
First I'll explain what I have, then my problem.
I have from left to right the following, Name, Scores, Worst Score, 2nd Worst Score, Average, Hcp. (There are other columns but are not important here)
The Scores columns record each round played, so at the moment we only have 10 columns with data as its the start of the season. I currently find the "Worst Scores" from the 10 columns, as they are all relevant at the moment. My problem will arise when I get over 12 columns of data. From that point on I need to find the "HIGHEST 10" from the "LAST 12" entries.
Easy you might say, BUT the last 12 rounds played could be spread over 100+ columns and every row could be different.
Example, Player 1 could have scores in column A to AB and then in AD to AE. Where as Player 2 could have scores in every alternate column.
I'm assuming I'll have to set up some form of count to count the cells that have data in them until I get to 12. Then extract the ones I dont need.
My question is, How do I find the last 12 column cells used in any row AND extract the highest 2 from those 12?
I need to generate a report that indicates how long it took a vendor to respond, and indicate if the time was less than 2 hours.
I'm having trouble with a formula that will indicate how long it took for the vendor to respond during business hours (8-5 monday through friday). I can easily calculate the total elapsed time, but I'm at a loss on how to account for the after hours time period.
I am trying to count the number of indentical entries in my spreadsheet. I got the conditional formatting to color indentical entries that have more than 2 entries. I need to know how multiple entries are in my spreadsheet. I am using =COUNTIF($A$1:$A$10000,A1)>2.
Every other line is the planned production and the others are filled in after as the actual production I have a sumproduct formula right now that looks if the line is considered planned production and then if there is a number greater than 0 planned on that day. The idea is to tell me the number of Stations scheduled to run that day.
Here is my problem- if a station is running two different products it gets counted twice. I am trying to find a way that once a station is counted it only gets counted once even though they are on seperate lines. Attached is an example of what I have with the formula and below that is what I am looking for
I'm trying to create a worksheet with only one unprotected cell (simple enough!) and I want to base calculations in other protected cells on a running total of how many times a value has been entered in my unprotected cell. Re-entering the same value would need to be counted.
First enhancement would then be a means of resetting the counter.
Second enhancement would be to check for a valid entry and only then increment the counter.
I run a bowling leagues which as 7 divisions and 10 teams per division, some of the clubs have up to 4 teams entered. I keep a spreadsheet for each division which keeps records of each teams performances as well as individual. All the clubs have to register their players for which I keep a data base for each club, the clubs having 4 teams register quite a number of players. My problem is I have to manually check the data base against players being entered on score cards and then on to the spreadsheet. Down columns B & C on the spreadsheet I have the Forename & Surname, when I enter a name in the cells I would like a formula to check against the clubs data base and return the name or false
I'm trying to write a macro to use as an auto-update feature for a spreadsheet.
I currently use Data validation on an input cell to allow the user to select from a list of product types.
I'd like the update to affect this list, so new product types are always available to the user.
However, the list of product types is in another spreadsheet and contains numerous repetitions.
I've managed to get the following code together based on what I've used before and what I've found searching so far, but it seems to have a bug in it as it wont always work. I also need the original copying of the list to be done to either the new spreadsheet of a different page in the original spreadsheet, but every time I try this it causes an object error.
PHP Sub Macro3() ' ' Macro3 Macro ' Macro recorded 05/12/2008 by Information Technology ' Workbooks.Open Filename:= _ "T:SSTCCDEngineeringBackthin_dataPhotolithMASK_DETAILS.xls" Sheets("Mask List").Range("f4:f2000").AdvancedFilter Action:=xlFilterCopy, _ CriteriaRange:=Range("a1:a3"), CopyToRange:=Range("E1:E2000"), Unique:= _ True Selection.Sort Key1:=Range("E1:e2000"), Order1:=xlAscending, Header:=xlNo, _ OrderCustom:=1, MatchCase:=False, Orientation:=xlTopToBottom Columns("E:E").Select Selection.Copy Windows("MASK_DETAILS.xls").Activate ActiveWindow.Close Windows("Dry_etcher_log_B.xls").Activate Sheets("Calc Sheet").Select Columns("M:M").Select ActiveSheet.Paste End Sub
I have a large table of data covering 3 different companies and need to create a second table of data counting how many entries there are for each month in each company. This second table is to be used to create bar graphs and I am not using pivot tables as I cannot work out how to get the pivot table to insert months where nothing has happened. The attachment should make it clear
Horses have 5 running styles; early speed to late closers; denoted as 1 to 5 in column Z. I'd like to count those noted as 1 thru 3 for each race.
In column FC (the last column with data) I have a race ID # for each race on the spreadsheet, somewhere between 2500 to 5000 races in each one. They're a monthly record. The race ID # is a concatenation of columns B (Track ID), C ( Date) & D (race #). Each is unique to its race. E.G. Aqueduct, jan 1st, 2004, 2nd race is id'd as AQU379872.
Would it be possible to create a macro that would (A) count the number of horse 1s, horse 2s & horse 3s from a specific race ID & then post those numbers in columns FD thru FF & (B) then continue to the next race ID in column FC & count those horses from that race & so on thru the entire spreadsheet?
Would it be simpler if each race ID were changed to a number--race 1 down to race 2500?
I am trying to insert a formula that counts the number of dates within a certain date range. why this sample file does not work, the answer I am looking for in cell C1 is 3.
