I am using a excel 97 and have a macro that generated hundreds of work books on a single run. Due to the extensive number of work books, i would like to save all of this into a single folder. I able to create a folder on my macro by using the "MKDIR" command, however I can not seem to save any of my workbooks on that newly created folder, do i have to release that folder first. I get a message saying "Miscrosoft Office Excel cannot access the file (Folder).
The command i am using to save the files:
ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs Filename:=Output_Name, _
FileFormat:=xlNormal
The Output_Name contains the full path including the new folder name and the workbook name. What do you think i am doing wrong or not doing at all?
creating / populating a table. In the table below, the left half is the data I currently have. I need to wiggle it around to look like J10.
Basically, I need a formula that I can plug into every cell in Column J that says at the value to the immediate left in Column I. Take this value and look at Column E... then every time there is match, take the value in Column D, and find the next match. Put pipes between each value.
Basically, I am trying to get a row for each parent ID that has all the children in one cell delineated by pipes. I am trying to get a row for each parent ID that has all the children in one cell delineated by pipes.
I am trying to take data from one spreadsheet and do a couple of things. First, i need to create a tab for each column and name the tab after the name in row 1. (this code i already have, it is below)
Second, and here is where i need help, i want to put the tab name and corresponding data (all in the same column on the first sheet) onto each tab. Essentially i am just divying up each column on my master sheet into its own tab so that i can do further data analysis.
Sub GenWStabnames2() 'Kemper Ohlmeyer based on code from David McRitchie Dim cell As Range Dim newName As String, xx As String Err.Description = "" On Error Resume Next '--cells with numbers, including dates, will be ignored, For Each cell In Worksheets("Manager list").Range("fund.names")................
I have just started out learning vb and am having some trouble with a particular request. The following code is code I found to split a worksheet into different sheets based on a variable in the data (Col G). It has now been requested that instead of new worksheets, they want the data in new work books, automatically named and saved as today's date.
Sub UpDate_Sheets() Dim ws As Worksheet, source As Range, dest As Range Dim daily As Worksheet Set daily = Worksheets("Sheet1") Application. ScreenUpdating = False On Error Resume Next For Each ws In Worksheets If ws.Name <> daily.Name Then daily.Range("G1"). AutoFilter Field:=7, Criteria1:=ws.Name Set source = daily.Range("G1"). CurrentRegion.Offset(1, 0).SpecialCells(xlVisible) Set dest = Worksheets(ws.Name).Range("A65536").End(xlUp).Offset(1, 0) source.Copy dest End If Next daily.Range("G1").AutoFilter On Error Goto 0 End Sub
Just striving to have this kind of "picture arrangement's macro" to work, macro that whenever you choose a certain cell and operate it on hotkey it'll:
1. Create a new folder named "PicturesAuto" beside the excel file (wherever the excel file located).
2. Inside folder "picturesAuto it'll create a new subfolder named by the same name of the sheet related to that cell you operated the macro upon. (let's say this cell placed on sheet named: "happysheet"- that'll be the name of the subfolder created.)
3. Inside the subfolder "happysheet" it'll create a new subfolder named by the text of the cell you activated the macro upon (let's say you initially operated the macro on B5 cell -which has the text "montana" so it'll create "montana" subfolder also inside subfolder "happysheet")
4. Lastly instead of having only the text "montana" in "B5 cell" like we had initially before activating the macro, the macro'll also add to that text "montana" the link to "montana" folder (path of excel file->picturesAuto->happysheet->montana)
The way I'm planning to use this is to add a lot of HR pictures inside those folders created by the macro that related to that specific sheet, and that specific cell I've activated the macro upon. Plus just having those pictures so organized is just outstanding in every scale, and the excel file will keep running smoothly without any resource consuming overload.
VB code, recorded by macro, it is working, but I need create different workbooks with different names , this one create just one specific name here is the first problem , second would be for saving in desktop folder "Ataskaitos" here another because it just for my computer , on other computer directory would not be found and third , then I deleting existing sheet in workbook from there I run the macro and copy sheet to new workbook it asking if I sure want to delete that sheet, so I don't need asking that I just need to delete it
I would like excel to create the folder C:/Bill if it doesn't already exist when I click save/save as option and save the workbook in it with a filename that is a combination of text/values in cells A1 and A2 on Sheet1. Better if the save as dialog box appears with this option selected so that I have to just click Save in the save as dialog box to save it in "C:/Bill".
I have an excel database where I register cases. I have in it a button that creates a folder with and ID nr that is in column A (I create new ID nr in the next row, when I press the button it will create a folder with that ID nr and inserts a blank word document in it). We have a template that we copy to the folder (depending what type of case). The idea would be that once the template is filled in and ready to print, It would take the values from the ID nr and a reference number a few cells to the right. Is it possible to tell excel to open the word document in the folder and create a PDF version with the ID nr and reference number. (there are only 2 templates, so the macro would have to look for one of the two in the folder) The names of the templates are: "Standard" and "Other". I guess the best way to start maybe this would be that I select the cell with the ID nr and then press a macro button to have this done. One thing that needs to be done, is to put a copy in the same folder and another in a second folder called "Binder" in my documents folder.
I make calculations for these projects using an excel file. In this excel I also type the projectnumber (cell J2)
Now i would like to make a button. When pressed, it checks the projectnumber cell J2, looksup the corresponding folder and saves the excelfile in PDF format in this folder.
I have found macro to find files in folders, but none which do the above.
I need a macro in a workbook to look at all the files in the same folder that have "*att*.xls" in the name and determine and copy from the range A15:W515 only the rows that have data in at least columns A, C and D. Each file will vary as to how many rows there will be and there are more than the files with "*att*.xls" in the folder. The data will be on the only worksheet in each file and the worksheet is named "G2WAttendee_xls" the data from all the files need to be copied to the file called "Consolidated webinar reports.xls" (I am using Excel 2003) and to a sheet called "Attendance Data" and added to the end of the last paste.
At the start of the macro the current file "Consolidated webinar report.xls" should be saved to a sub folder of the current directory and have the date saved added to the name. The sub folder is called "Completed reports". The data in the original file on worksheet "Attendance Data" should be deleted.
At the end of the process all the files that have had data copied from them should be moved to the sub folder "Attendance reports consolidated" (This could be done as each file is closed if that is easier).
I have headings in row 1 of the "Attendance Data" worksheet that match the headings in the various files in the folder (which will always be in row 14 of the individual "*att*.xls" files).
The folder with all the files and the "Consolidated webinar report.xls" file is at path "Z:P and S MEvaluationsWebinar series 2012-13TB".
I have up to 50 workbooks in one folder with data in a specific range. I also have one workbook which includes additional data, including conditional formatting and dropdowns. I need to copy the desired range from the first workbook in the source folder to the second workbook, then save the latter to my destination folder, using the same name as the first. I need to repeat this process for all workbooks in the source folder.
I have an Excel VBA Macro for creating/logging drawing numbers. Each drawing belongs to a job number. Each job number has a folder name containing the job number followed by a description (ie 999999 - bracket assembly) for storing drawing pdf's. The job number is only known as a 6 figure number in the drawing creation process BUT for the PDF saving process it is a string value...as my example above
I have to change my process by pre-creating the Job Number folder, then have the macro look for the appropriate folder by searching the parent folder for a sub folder containing the job number (always the first 6 figures).
I want to insert in my macro some code that searches...
The parent folder for a folder containing the job number. The macro value for the parent folder is P:engineeringdrawings (this never changes). the macro value for the job number is iOpenair (it's an entry that is entered as start the macro). Imagine the value for the job number is "999999"...so the search would be for "999999*.*" The code needs to search the parent folder, find the folder name that begins with a six digit number. Capture the complete name of the folder and store that name as a Dim value that I can call up elsewhere in my macro.
I am creating a document for work that automatically generates hyperlinks to pdf files in a given sub folder. Currently I have a section of code that opens a window to choose the folder location.
Code: 'Prompt user to select a directory Do Problem = False Set ShellApp = CreateObject("Shell.Application"). _ Browseforfolder(0, "Please choose a folder", 0, "c:\")
On Error Resume Next
[Code] ........
What I actually want is to not have the window open, but excel automatically choose the sub folder location.
The directory looks like this Z:ClientProjectDRAWINGS-2 RECORD COPIESPDF
The xlsm file is stored in the DRAWINGS folder, and I need it to point to the PDF folder.
I have a list of items in an excel sheet... 500 of them... and there are images for them in an other folder... The problem is those images are in 1000's and I only need those 500 images.. Images are saved as "SKU.jpg eg NS2354.jpg and we have an SKU column in excel as well .. SKU and their images have same name...
Is there any solution to pick up only those 500 images from those thousands of images?
Is it possible to save those 500 images in an other folder?
I would like to create a code that will open all workbooks in folder "A" one at a time and then close the work book after another code is executed. So one workbook will open and while the workbook is open, I will call another code to format the active workbook and then the active workbook will be saved in folder "B" and closed and go to the next workbook in folder "A" to start all over. The folders are saved on the desktop.
What I'm hoping to do is just look for the 4 digit number on the end finding that folder name and opening it up. The name conventions before the 4-digit serial number are quite random. Sometimes it includes their full first name, other times it's just an initial for the first name and other times there are other characters included in the name. The one thing that is constant is the 4 digit serial number on the end.
how I could get the Open dialog box to pop up and have the chosen folder number open?
I have 16 seperate titles and a different figure for each title.
However, these 16 titles are repeated hundreds of times, in different orders, down a column. I need to populate the list with the numbers that belong to each title.
I don't have v look up on my computer. I am useless at excel.
I have a spreadsheet that continuously is having data input in columns A-F. I want to have a listbox automatically populate each time the worksheet is opened. I would like to have a macro that will search for all rows that have data in columns A-F that DO NOT have data in column L. I would like the macro to populate a listbox when the worksheet is opened with the data from columns A-F of all rows that meet the previously stated criteria.
I have a combobox that is not populating correctly. The design of it uses an existing list (which changes every month) to populate the contents of the combobox. I want the user to be able to select a location from the list if it is already on the worksheet, rather than having to key in the location name for every single record. This Sub worked just fine and dandy for me until I deployed the workbook to the end user. Then this particular combobox decided not to work.
I have been over this code many, many times and I am almost positive that it's just a matter of my not being able to see the obvious. Perhaps another set of eyes looking at the code will be able to see what I can not.
Sub get_Locations() Dim allCells As Range, Cell As Range Dim noDupes As New Collection
Sheets("Main").Select ' get the first from last row #--the last row is a row of record counts and sums. endRange = ActiveSheet.UsedRange.Rows.Count - 1
ComboBox1.Clear ' This will clear the combobox. If endRange 65536 Then ' If the row number is not the end of the worksheet, _ there must be something already on the worksheet, so build the list. On Error Resume Next ' Get unique values in range by checking each cell in range. For Each Cell In Range("D12:D" & endRange) noDupes.Add Cell.Value, CStr(Cell.Value) Next Cell On Error GoTo 0
' Sort the collection alphabetically within the combobox For i = 1 To noDupes.Count - 1 For j = i + 1 To noDupes.Count If noDupes(i) > noDupes(j) Then Swap1 = noDupes(i) Swap2 = noDupes(j) noDupes.Add Swap1, before:=j noDupes.Add Swap2, before:=i noDupes.Remove i + 1 noDupes.Remove j + 1 End If Next j Next i
' Add items to combobox in their new alphabetical order. itemIndex = 0 For Each Item In noDupes UserForm2.ComboBox1.AddItem Item, itemIndex itemIndex = itemIndex + 1 Next Item Else ' otherwise there's no list to populate and the default row is 12 endRange = 12 Range("A12").Select End If End Sub
And just for the record, all object references (cell ranges, comboBox, etc.) are valid and correctly named, so I know it's not there. I also recognize that I have overspecified things by using "UserForm2", but I have done that in the hopes of finding the problem. And the code does execute at the proper times, populating "noDupes" correctly. The problem seems to occur near the end, in the block where noDupes is added to ComboBox1.
But some items on this list are missing from month to month and don't need to be included for selection so I need a more advanced version of this that populates from a list in data.
Is there a way for it to look at a column in a data range containing month, then look at the column containing Product and take a definitive list of all products that match a certain month?? So Credit card might be mentioned 300 times for the month of september but it appears only once in the combobox?
I have a spreadsheet with loads of different columns on it, I am using a userform to control the spreadsheet. I have one form that allows me to add data to the spreadsheet and another that allows me to search it.
If one of my colums was a list of "counties" what I want to do is to have a combo box that displays all the counties listed so I can pick a specific one and and search it.
This I can do, the problem arises if a new county is added to the spreadsheet it will not be displayed in the combobox because I am using the additem "....." function to populate the box.
The students are not being populated on Listbox3 when I select an item in Listbox2. Only the first selection appears and not the others. Thank you in advance. Attached is the image file and the excel file itself.
Please see the attached sheet, Im trying to get it to populate the first page with the column data in the datasheet1 page by using the dropdown menu in N1. This is for when people ask questions about the data, I can quickly and clearly show them the differences from one month to another
I am looking for an excel calendar that will auto-populate content into it based on a spreadsheet that I fill in.
Maybe I would just need the formula that would be inserted into each calendar day? I'm not sure how you would set this up, but I'm open to suggestions!
I have attached the .xls file for your reference.
For example: The comment "Client 1 - KOM" would populate in a blank calendar in excel on the date 3/23/2009.
I have a colum with 350 cells in use, each of these cells contain a 3 digit number. Without having to go into each cell and type is there a way i can put the Letter "R" infront of each of the 3 digit numbers?
I have an ActiveX Combo box - and Im trying to fill from a 2nd sheet (same workbook). I can get the box to work if the data is on the same sheet but what to I put in the ListFillRange to get it to populate from another sheet ?
I am trying to total up by a Range of Dates some information from one page to another through VBA. I am having a tough time with this one, I can't seem to get the correct information over to the other page.
I have successfully been able to transfer the data via a series of SUMIF statements, but it really is very inefficient and takes a while when the data repopulated by another program. So I am trying to do it via VBA.
I am attaching an example sheet with this. I am trying to populate a range of cells in sheet1(from sheet2) based on value in cell A1 on sheet1. VLOOKUP brings only one cell value, I need to bring in a range of cell values in different cells on sheet1.
