i want to create a menu in the worksheet named "Main Menu" that lists all the other worksheets within the workbook with the option to select the required worksheet and view or print it.
I have a workbook containing a number of spreadsheets. Some of the spreadsheets are user inputs. The results of the user inputs drive a number of final reports. The final reports (i.e. spreadsheets) are hidden from the user (I don't want the user to be overwhelmed with so many tabs when they open the excel spreadsheet).
I created on the main input tab spreadsheet the following:
1. Check boxes - so that user can select after making his/her inputs the reports that he/she wants to view or print.
Say there are 4 reports (call them Sheet1, Sheet2, Sheet3, Sheet4 - therefore, 4 check boxes. Through the Format Control, the checkboxes have cell links that yield TRUE (if selected) or FALSE if not selected - linked to cells A1, A2, A3, A4 respectively.
2. Option buttons - one for view and another one for print. Through the Format Control, the View and Print option buttons have cell links to cell A5 yielding 1 for View and 2 for Print.
3. Command button - that will clear the check boxes
Issue I would like to know if there is a way to code in VBA to:
1. Unhide the spreadsheets corresponding to the check boxes if selected;
2. Print the spreadsheets corresponding to the check boxes if selected for printing; and
3. Clear the checked boxes to unchecked if the Command button is clicked.
I'm struggling with coding to perform the above tasks.
I have a seemingly simple dilemna and wonder if there is a solution... I am not a PRO user, but can get by with my limited knowledge of excel.
My issue:
I create invoices for my business and in the invoice I use the "TODAY()" function to automatically insert the current day when I created the invoice.
Now when I need to go back and look at the old invoice or print it again it shows the CURRENT date, not the original date when it was saved. Is there a way to view and/or print out a file while keeping the original date intact or is there a better way to format a date to avoid this happening in the future.
I have since eliminated the function and just type in the date to avoid this but I have about 100 invoices that are saved that I may need to view their "original" dates on.
I have a worksheet that have a dropdown menu with more than 60 names / project when I select a name / project all my sheet update per the project. My question is how to run a macro to print all records in the drop menu one time instead of doing it sheet by sheet!!!! and I want to print them pdf.
I have placed a workbook on a network drive. This workbook contains sensitive information and I would like to protect it to a "feasible" degree. I have written the following code
Private Sub Workbook_Open() Dim userid As String, valid_userid As String Dim i As Integer valid_userid = "MISI01/" userid = GetUserName() userid = UCase(userid) & "/" i = InStr(1, userid, valid_userid) If i = 0 Then MsgBox ("You are not authorised to use this workbook") ActiveWorkbook.Close False Exit Sub End If 'create menu when workbook opens Call Module1.CreateMenu("") Call Modul1.check_filedate("") ' This will disable the user from moving, renaming etc the sheets ActiveWorkbook.Protect Structure:=True, Windows:=False End Sub
As can be seen from the above code, I check if the current userid is one of those that are valid to open the workbook. If not the idea is to tell them and close the workbook immediately (this bit isn't tested yet). This code is not supposed to be hacker proof, but to prohibit the casual user from reviewing the the data.
I am working with excel 2003. I get a workbook sent to me via Email that has 12 tabs on it and each tab has to be printed out. The fastest way that I know, to get this done is start with tab 1; hit alt+f, u, alt+f, enter, Ctrl+P, enter, Ctrl+page down ( to move to next tab and do it all over again), each tab is a slightly different width so I am constantly have to use "Fit to Page" but each tab will fit on one page easy.
I was wondering can I use a key stroke macro to print this workbook. I actually get 5 workbooks like this every night, it does not really take that long, maybe I am just being lazy, I was thinking that I might be able to use a key stroke macro and then name it for what ever workbook it works with (workbook 1 print ) but I don't no if this will work or if there is an easier way to get the printing job done.
I can't upload the workbook but I could create a simple say 5 tab workbook that has no data in but has same formatting and upload that if you need to see what I am doing.
I am attempting to create a Menu (food) in Excel 2007. I have a list of foods that I would like to select once one is selected the next list would be for the next item and so on. I know how to create a drop down list but once I select an Item I would like the next list to narrow down the field (or choices). I am not sure I explained this well enough so here is another way to put it.
First Column would be a choice of meats. Beef, Chicken, Pork, etc. If you select say Beef the next column would be a veggie, Carrots, Peas, Green beans. But with Beef you cannot select Carrots. and so on.
Creating a drop down menu that allows me to pull data from sheet2.
I have all of my data on sheet2 and my objective is to have a small portion of the data displayed on sheet1 once the user selects the specific "study" from a drop down menu.
how to create a drop down menu that will have a list of all the different studies, and then once the specific study is selected, how do I make it display the pertaining information in the master sheet.
Follow up....more information
The data I’m working with is a master list of different drug studies. All of the data is broken down by the specific study itself, so all I need to do is figure out a way to let the user access the data in a quick and easy way. I figured this could be down with a drop down menu that has a list of each study, and the user could select the study they want to review. Once selected, the data pertaining to the study would then populate the fields on the master silde(sheet1).
I have created a list in a Microsoft Excel Workbook (names and corresponding numbers) and named the list.
Then, I created a drop-down menu through Data/Validate/List that included the names.
I can look the names up in the drop-down box, but I would like to be able to type a few letters and Excel auto complete the rest of the name. For instance I would type Ja...and James Doe would come up with the mes Doe in black (highlighted).
I have a workbook that creates three temporary menu buttons when I open it. These work fine until I try and open more then 1 workbook at a time. This creates duplicate menu buttons (3 times the number of workbooks that I open).
I call up the procedure when each workbook is opened using this code in the "ThisWorkbook" code area: ....
I have a list of values (say a, b, c, d, e) and creating a drop down menu with these values in say A1. Say I chose 'c'. Now in cell A2 I want to be able to choose from the same list without being able to choose 'c' again. In cell A3 I want to be able to choose from the same list without being able to choose the values lalready chosen in A1 and A2. and so on.
I have a worksheet/ book that needs to be shared with staff BUT they must not be able to print the worksheet/book. Allowing them to 'view only' does not prevent them printing the doc.
Trying to create a new workbook from another open workbook, then copying all the sheets that aren't called "Summary" to that new open workbook and then saving it. I get a subscript error on this line:
I have an excel workbook with multiple worksheets(tabbed across the bottom of the workbook). How can I set up a menu of the worksheets on the left hand side of the workbook that enables me to jump to that worksheet?
I'm trying to load a custom menu in a workbook to avoid having users to load an add in to use the spreadsheet. I'm trying to add this to the "this workbook" tab but I've never done this.
I have downloaded a custom menu workbook attached. I am wanting to only show the custom menu in one workbook as it appears in all workbooks open at the time.
I have a workbook that I created as an interface for my workplace. I disabled the File, Menu, Edit, etc...menu bars through .Control("x").Visible = False and .Enable = False as well
Now when I open a new workbook all the menus are there still which is good but when I open a previously saved workbook all the menus are missing. Is there a way where I can have ONLY my workbook have the menus gone and for them to appear in other workbooks that were saved?
The following code for a custom menu is used in a workbook which has two sheets with embedded charts, two chart sheets and several sheets for calculations and information
In This Workbook
Private Sub Workbook_Activate() 'Changed Activate to Open Run "AddMenus" End Sub
and
Private Sub Workbook_Deactivate() 'Changed Deactivate to Close Run "DeleteMenu" End Sub
and
Private Sub Workbook_BeforeClose(Cancel As Boolean) Run "DeleteMenu" End Sub
I have a worksheet that changes in length. There is a formula that calculates how many pages the sheet will be. The also is a print button on the sheet that will print a coversheet "Sheets("Title")" and then it is supposed to print the data on the second sheet. Below the code I have so far... I know I am missing something, but knowing very little about macros I just can't seem to figure it out.
I am trying to find a way to print an "entire workbook", but have each of the sheets paged as a group separate from the rest. One workbook typically has up to 20 sheets, with each sheet up to roughly 8 pages. I need each sheet set to show page 1 of 8 or page 5 of 8, not page 22 of 53. Counting and typing in the total number of pages in each sheet's footer is too cumbersome. Also, printing each sheet individually has also been cumbersome when printing to PDF. Are there any other ways to have the "&[Pages]" function only reflect the number of pages within the sheet instead of in the entire workbook?
I am working on building a custom menu and I am looking for the code that would open a specific workbook execute a macro when I select the tab, can this be done????
I would like to run a macro from a worksheet that creates a new workbook for each worksheet (there will be 20 plus) and saves it in a new folder i.e. all the same directory L/Utilisation/Team/name of the worksheet.
I would like to know if there is a way to print several different workbooks at once but keeping my printing format which I would like to be Landscape and Fit to one page. Reason is simple as I work in a office where staff is handed in several jobs to do everyday. They finish the jobs and log all the info on the database. I log on to database and put all their daily diaries and because it is all over the place I have to go in each file and set printing preferences which takes an hour in the morning and hour in the evening. I could do with some sort of automation where all diaries are automatically printed in Landscape and Fit on one page.
I have a report that is generated from a manufacturing process that looks like the example below. the report is 40 pages long when all the data is printed. i am looking for a way to only print this range if a dimension is "out of tolerance". if the dimension is within tolerance, there is always the "garbage" text of plus and minus. if every row is "within tolerance" in the range the cells in the OutTol column would all contain the "garbage" text but it will not always be identical. so, in summary, actual OutTol values = print and all "garbage" = not printed.
