I have a column that has dates going vertically down from 1/1/2009 - 1/7/2010. I need a formula that will return the date for every other Friday beginning with the second Friday in January 2009.
I've gotten the desired result in Column B, but this will not work going forward as we add to the table in columns E:G .
I'm looking to search between columns E:F, Identify the date-range where my dates in column A belong, and pull the corresponding rate from column G into column B.
Every other Friday, I need to submit my biweekly work hour sheet to manager. For example, as 12/21/2007 is Friday and pay day, I need to submit my sheet. Next time is two weeks later, 1/4/08, and on. 12/21/07 is the first event.
I want to create a conditional format, or workbook events, or worksheet events to remind me on that Friday when I open that book or activate that sheet.
If there's one thing I really wish I understood more in Excel its how to use formulas to calculate days and times.
I'm looking for a formula that will give me the date of the last Friday in a month based on another date. I have the formula below at the moment that works quite nicely for March 2012 but not for any others. It's getting the 5 at the end to be more flexible that's got me stumped.
I have dates listed in column A indicating the day an action was performed. In column B I need to have the date in column A changed to a Friday. If the date in column A is not a Friday, then the date in column B needs to fall back to the previous Friday. For example, if the date entered in column A is today, Monday August 7, then the date in column B that I would be Friday August 4. Can anyone think of code that determine this and place the value in column B? Currently I use vlookup to go to another sheet where all the possible dates are listed with their respective Fridays, but this slows down the calculation worksheet as the file is quite large.
I am trying to construct a schedule of tasks to be done by certain dates. If the last day of the month is entered (say 11/31/09) in a cell, is it possible to find out the date for the third Thursday of November or the first Wednesday or the last Friday?
In A3, B3, and C3 I need to have the first Monday, Thursday, and Friday of the month. Here's the caveat, I need A3 to have the day that comes earliest in the month.
In this case, A3 would contain 8/1/08 since it's the first Friday, B3 would have 8/4/08 as the first Monday, then C3 would have 8/7/08 as the first Thrusday.
If A1 contained 7/1/08 then A3 would have 7/3/07 as the first Thursday with Friday and Monday following.
On my timesheet, there is a button that, when clicked, allows you to select a pay period end date. Our pay periods end every other Friday. When the button is clicked, it opens a form I designed that has a listbox that I manually entered every pay period for the year into. Here is the code I used:
What I'd like to do instead is have VBA populate the listbox (or combobox or what have you) dynamically, by using a reference point (say, the first pay period of the year) and then populating every other Friday from that point forward. Also, it would be great if it could reference the current date as to only list pay period end dates in the future (or even the two prior to todays date, and then maybe 3 or 4 pay period end dates in the future).
Need a formula for cell J27 that returns the date of the following Wednesday from a date in cell J2 that's a Wed, Thurs, or Fri or return the date of the following Friday for a date in cell J2 that's Sat, Sun, Mon, or Tue.
For example, when 05-29-08, a Thursday, is entered in cell F2, I need cell J27 to return the following Wednesday's date of 6-04-08. or For example, when 06-01-08, a Sunday, is entered in cell F2, I need cell J27 to return the following Friday's date of 06-06-08.
I have a drop down box that chooses the week number of the year (This is based off of a series of data from another sheet).
I need some kind of formula that calculates the following Friday based on a week number. Say for this year (2012) The following Friday for "week 1" is 1/13/12.
(This is for payroll information and I'm trying to calculate the pay date based of of data from that week)
I am trying to calculate the Date of the next occurring 3rd Friday of the month in relation to a Static Date in a cell. So if Static Date in cell is Tuesday of the second week of a month, then I am trying to return the date of the 3rd Friday of that month. If the static date in the cell is the third friday of the month, I just want to return that particular date. And if the static date is after the 3rd Friday of the month, I am trying to return the 3rd friday of the following month. So far here is the formula I am using:
The problem I have is that if the static date is after the third friday of the month, this continues to return the 3rd friday of the month of the static date and does not advance to the third friday of the following month. Looks like I cannot attached a sample spreadsheet but here is a screenshot of the sample sheet:
How to write a VBA code so that it would calculate the date of the previous Friday and from there Return the date exactly 1 month before; on any given day.
For example... today is may 8th
So if I run the code the dates returned for last friday should be 05/02/2014 and 04/04/2014 should be returned AS the DATE exactly a month from 05/02/2014
Is there a way to run a macro automaticly on a closed work book every Friday ? I've found ways of doing this using on-open event but It made me wonder if this was possible.
I was wanting to count the number of Fridays that appear in the range of 1 Jan 2010 - 31 March 2010. I will be changing the searchable day and range in the future so I need it automated. I expect the output to be a number, example. 13.
I need to work out how to get the last (or most recent) Friday date. Suppose today is 14/02/2013, then the previous date is: 08/02/2013. If today is 15/02/2013, then I just want it to be 15/02/2013 as it is Friday.
I have a pivot table and and struggling to group these by month as well as to sort thee in escending order.

I have a sheet with a date and the number of months on it which will change. I need the sheet to list the dates in a column for each month automatically: e.g. Two cells contain date “jan07” and the period “10” months. The rows A1 to A10 should have jan07…jan16 listed automatically. If I change then change the number of month to 11 I would like the rows A1 to A11 to update automatically.
I'm trying to make a simple chart, which maps the value of an investment fund over time. I wanted to use the new 'Table' feature within Excel 2010 to format and maintain the formulae within the Table, and the 'Header' for the table contains the date, which is not at regular intervals.
If I opt not to use the Table feature, I can create a line-chart with ease, and Excel recognises that the Dates are indeed dates and plots the graph correctly. The minute I convert over to a Table, the Date headers are no longer recognised as dates, and are instead plotted as if they were text, at regular intervals.
I've tried multiplying the Date Headers by 1 to force them back to true Dates, but this still does not work. I've also changed the setting on the horizontal axis to Date axis rather than automatic, but still no joy.
look at the attached file - it was a CSV file. i want to convert the column of dates to say Mar 14 2009 type date. but it only converts some of them. note some are on the left and some on the right.
I am in strange situation where I have a data with Invoice Dates. These dates are in Text. However, when I convert it into reall excel dates. For some reason the dates do not come right. convert my text dates into excel real dates. I did a lot of google search and apply these three methods but all of these gave me strange result I was not expecting. These are the methods I used and the result of each method.
Method 1 : Using Text to Column Wizard (Excel 2007)
I highlighted invoice column and went into text to column wizard. I clikced on Date button, and selected MDY format. Strangely enough, my result was day, month and year i.e. DMY which does not seem right.
Then I press Control ~ on this data as shown in second view.
2nd Method - Using formula to convert text date to real dates When I used formula, I get the following result. As you can see, formula is converting text dates into different system dates than the first method.Further strange things is when I take these system dates i.e. 4283 and in 2007 excel format use "Short Date" the same system date gets converted into wrong year as shown in the second view.
