Is it possible to have a cell, say B1 - which will return the Time and Date Value of when something is entered into Cell A1?
Example, I type "Hello" in Cell A1.
Now B1 will show me the Time and Date which i typed in Hello into A1.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a spreadsheet in which I want to track the date and time someone made an entry in an adjacent cell (so if someone enters something in B2, I want the date/time of that cell edit to appear in C2).
When the date/time has appeared, I want it to remain the same and not update when the worksheet is opened the next time. So I can't use NOW to pull it in, because that's going to change every time the file is opened.
I am looking for a formula or VBA that will be in each in cells D5:D300 and will look at the value entered into the cell in column C and change the 4 digits into the date and time in the same format as NOW() returns.
Example
2045 becomes 17/02/2012 20:45
But I would also want it to see if the 4 digits that represent the time are after 14:00 and before 00:00 then the date would be the date in cell A1-1
example
Cell A1 18/02/12
2045 becomes 17/02/2012 20:45
I am attempting to pick up a date with time entry on a worksheet and place it into a TextBox on a UserForm. Format on the sheet is mm/dd/yyyy h:mm AM/PM. The UserForm is placing the value as mm/dd/yyyy 12:00 AM. here is the

"dDate" is the named range where the date is sitting. The format is also set on the TextBox2 exit event. Can anyone see why only the date portion is being transfered with the default 12:00 AM for no time component of the value?
How can I get an automatic time & date entry into cell B1 based on a alphanumeric entry in cell A1. The time and date must not re-calculate every time the workbook is opened.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI am using Excel 2013. Anyway, the first issue is that I need to pull a date and a time period from text. So, for example, if I see something like Sunday Prime Time 7/6/14 8:37PM, I would want to pull ONLY the "7/6/14 8:37PM" out of it. Each text box could potentially be different, so it might not always be in the same format as "Sunday Prime Time 7/6/14 8:37PM" it might only show just the date and/or the time without all the extra text i.e. 7/6/14 8:37PM. Some of the cells will have text, others might only have just the time or even just the date and the time. The only thing that I am worrying about in each cell is extracting just the date and time. If this is too much to ask of excel, I would be ok with extracting ONLY the time - 8:37PM and not the date, but I would much rather be able to get both the time and date.
THEN, onto part two of my question. After I would pull the dates and times, I need to compare them with each other. So, when I have the same date with two separate times on that date, I need to write a formula to show if those times on that date are less than 30 minutes apart. So, if I have 6 times on 7/6/14, I need to know if any of them are less than 30 minutes apart.
I would need to have the formula say something like "Problem" if the times on 7/6/14 would be 5:30PM, 5:48PM, 7:00PM, 8:00PM, 8:15PM, and 9:00Pm for example. I would like to see the word "Problem" since 5:30PM and 5:48Pm is only 18 minutes apart, and "Problem" after 8:15PM since that is only 15 minutes past the 8:00PM which is obviously under 30 minutes. The times that are more than 30 minutes apart such as 7:00PM and 9:00PM for example are more than 30 minutes apart from any of the other times that were extracted.
I have a workbook with several sheets, each of which represents a client. At the bottom of this sheet, I have a call log to record the times that we attempted communication, left a message, etc. Since it's tedious enough as it is, I'd like to save my team 2 seconds and a slight bit of that tedium by having the date an attempt was made automatically recorded in the row where the attempt is entered.
Let's say this all takes place in A47:D47. For example, if I called the client on 7/15/08 and left a message, I would record who was called in B47, the name of the caller (me) in C47, and the result in D47. If possible, I would like to have the date of the attempt (today's date on the given day) entered in A47 upon the entry of information in B47:D47.

job1: 03:00am, duration 10 minutes
job2: 04:00am, duration 20 minutes
job3: 09:00am, duration 04 minutes
job4: 01:00pm, duration 65 minutes
Now I want to make a horizontal bar, that divides the bar into a 24-hour period (e.g. gray background) and fills the gaps that the system is in use with green parts, so in this example, the whole bar is gray and the part from 03:00am-03:10am+04:00am-04:20am+09:00am-09:04am + 01:00pm-02:05pm is filled in with green.
I have a list with about 300 of those jobs, so it would be nice if I could automate this. How to do this in Excel/VBA ?

I have a row of dates in row 2 (all sequential, from Nov through to June next year)
I have a row of number entries in row 3 (to correspond with the date in row 2 it was entered on).
I want to be able to add a new entry (a number) into a text box, click a macro button, which makes the text box input be moved into the cell underneath todays date (so every day the cell will move one column along)
I've managed to make myself a textbox, and a macro button, but I'm stuck with how to make it all work.
I have a Excel Dates & Times column where the time is not always used. In these cases the time is 12:00AM. Is there a way to Custom Formats the cell so that the time is only visible if it is not 12:00AM?

I would like to get the due date to turn red when it is overdue, ie. the date in the cell has arrived and no return was submitted. By trawlling the forum, I managed to accomplish this with the following in conditional formatting:
Cell value is less than or equal to =TODAY()
All's great.....but - I would like the date to turn back to black if I enter a date in the adjacent received column, column M.
In other words, I want to flag a problem if the due date has passed, but once I receive the return and enter the date I receive it, i would like the due date entry to revert back to the original formatting ie. black. So only the outstanding returns are highlighted.
I am working on an Inventory Spreadsheet. I have need it to date time stamp that willpopulate a different cell /field when text are entered in a different cell/field and will not change all the previous dates entered on the spreadsheetevery time I re-open the spreadsheet. I have data exported from a defect management tool (that reports all the defects that have been recorded in the defect management system). This data has unique columns for name of originator, defect ID, date originated, priority, etc. The date originated column has the date and time. I want to create a report that tells me how many High, Medium and Low priority defects were created on each date - and I am using a pivot table to do this.
However, because the date column is actually the date and time the defect was reported/recorded, the time element of this is making all the dates unique eg, I have three defects recorded on 29/01/2009, a High priority defect (reported at 29/01/2009 12:23) and two Medium priority defects (reported at 29/01/2009 13:02 and 29/01/2009 13:32). My pivot table is showing each date as a unique date - with a count of 1 against each, whereas I want to see 1 date entry (for 29/01/2009) with a count of 1 against High and 2 against Medium.
I have tried custom formatting the date column to dd/mm/yyyy - which appears to work in the data (but doesn't in the pivot table, because the time stamp is still there, just not visible). I have tried copy and paste special [Values] (on the custom formatted date column) -but the time stamp is still there. I have tried formatting the date column to "General", but this changes the dates to the number format - eg 29/01/2009 12:23 becomes 39842.5166203704.
I have tried inserting a new column and using the =Left function for the first 10 characters of the cell (ie the 29/01/2009), but that gives the first 10 characters of the number form of the date, ie 39842.5166. Basically, without going into every date cell (and I have thousands) and manually deleting all the times, how do I quickly change the date column into just having the date in it (ie how do I strip off the time element)?

If I make an entry in D13 then I want the R3 to be duplicated into C27 otherwise C27 should be 0.
I have several hundred rows of date/times which I need to modify just the date (for example 08/23/2007 11:00 to 08/15/2008 11:00). Each row may have a different time so it is just the date I'm targeting for change.
If I manually use the replace dialog, replacing 08/23/2007 with 08/15/2008 works just fine. However, if in code I attempt to use the Cells.Replace function, it does not locate any data to change.
I have found that if I search for the string 8/23/2007, the dates are located and changed. Only when I attempt to find the fully formatted date 08/23/2007 does the function fail.
I'd like all Cells in column AC (e.g. AC$3$:AC$517$) to be filled with yellow fill if the cell value is any date greater than or equal to today. Any past dates can be left blank (for now)

I have loaded a .csv file in which the first column contains date/times, e.g. 01/12/2012 00:00. How do I now tell Excel (2010) that this is in fact a date/time format? If I select one or more of the cells, click on the Number dialog box launcher and try to pick a suitable format tghe cells resolutely refuse to budge from being text (i.e. left-justified, still allows me to edit the 'seconds' component to a number > 60). Also which data type should I be using? The only one that appears to have a full date/time format listed is Custom (not Date or Time).

Currently I have to type in the hour then the colon the the minutes otherwise if I type in the time in a three or four digit format it just gives me 0:00.
